Laurels are just another way of getting ascended gear, it’s not the only one, and there will be other sources. AN just delivers on their promise to introduce ways to get ascended gear through other means in the game, not only fractals.

Somewhat disappointed with new daylies, although i was excited when i first heard about them. I was expecting them (AN) to be more creative on this part, after all those words about getting ppl out in the world again, giving them incentives to go visit places, explore, blah blah blah. And what we get? Same kitten. Just more of it. Forcing us to spend more time on it. Boring and stupid. Dodge this, revive that, combo kill… jesus. kittening facepalm really, who design such things srsly?

If you actually knew the amount of people that fail to do just that… you would be astonished:
- How many times have you been in a dungeon run and you just said to yourself… “Wtf… don’t that guy know how to dodge?”
- How Many of you actually use combo fields? I heard a few hours ago… “Cool, never knew this can be done” from a level 80 guy in Orr….
- How many of you just says “wtf dude, i was just by your side… why didn’t you revived me?”

And to be fair, why do you presume that all the dailies are like this? Afaik, they changed from 28th to 29th. There could be a lot more, a different too. I think it’s they are fairly good to remember some people of the game mechanics!

Because this game, like any other out there, full of weird ppl who can’t, for life, use basic mechanics, the DAILY achievement system should be used to educate and train them? oO Don’t you think it’s rather weird logic? But it’s not a big deal, fine, have it your way, i will dodge instead of killing, it’s not a problem whatsoever, but it’s a bit idiotic from my pov tbh. But does this supposed to make me go and visit places and explore? I don’t know, i had to go to Orr yday, which i haven’t visited for probably a month now, to get these combo kills done. And i didn’t really want to do it… but then again, there is this laurel thingy… Yeah…

Again you guys do also realize that the new dailies mechanic is not finished right? I mean they will be adding more options into in the following months. They just started with this and are building from that.

I know, but they said mainly that you will be able to choose which ones you want to do, i’am not sure they mentioned more types of achievements. I do hope that they will get more creative with it and in next patch we will see this overall imo great idea to be properly implemented, but for now, what we have atm, is disappointing for me, i’d even preffer old system.

Well, GW1 used to be divided into regions as well, for a long time actually.

That’s not quite correct, since cross-continent guesting was enabled from day 1 in GW1 – it was called “International Districts”. Only actual moving between home territories was restricted.

Well, GW1 used to be divided into regions as well, for a long time actually. Anet merged regions some time after NF release, if i recall it correctly. So there’s hope, but… But it is indeed very sad news, one of my favorite things about GW1 was the fact that everyone were playing together, in both PvE and PvP. Oh, well.

Ah ok, i misunderstood the part of your post about “obviously you’re not in alliance”, thought you was addressing someone specific, applying that there’s an alliance, it’s just this person or guild, you were talking to, is not in it. I apologize for that, should pay more attention, but tired a bit.

And those links you’ve provided are actually show what kind of kitten and trolls inhabit this dump called goha.ru, there’s nothing about alliance, just some ppl in FUBAR alliance seem to be really focused on VS.

Tbh, i enjoy killing SFR peeps more, it’s just there are too many of em, i literally tired of killing them for the past 2 days, you kill 1 — 5 more show up, and this tide barely ever stops.

Every time deso tries to take a tower owned by SFR, 5 or less minutes passes, and ZDs, or whoever else, start to pou out of every kitten hole. Alliance, right. Every time we take a VS tower or keep… some pugs show up and die and thats about it. GH even facerubed gates at VS keep and lol it worked. Can’t imagine SFR ppl would let you get away with something like that. xP

Tarnished coast friend. And you are one of few then who dungeon with no problem i commonly and i mean it strongly commonly see people hosting games and restricting anyone but guardians or warriors.

Hah, so thats how “nice” RP folks are? They’re also baddies then, if they need some kind of pr0 elite setup to deal with PvE. xP I have never encountered such behavior myself, although i see sometimes in chat ppl asking for specific class, like guardian would be nice, or ele preferred, but thats about it.

Happens to me as well. This can be really annoying, since i’am using fast ground targeting. During beta GW2 had this little, neat, beautiful cursor, dark red color, i wonder if it’d be better with that one, compared to what we have now. I wish AN would give us the ability to choose shape and color of some UI elements. Ah, dreams.

It will be playable, but CPU will be bottlenecking your laptop’s performance in GW2 (when lot’s of ppl around, like in big events or in WvW), game’s currently very CPU dependent, unfortunately. If not intel i5, as mentioned above, then at least try to find a laptop with higher speed CPU in it. Good luck.

1. While I don’t think that anyone can disagree that GW2 needs more group content and more incentives to play in parties, i disagree with how you discard dungeons in your last paragraph there, you also contradict your previous statement by doing so, like: “we need more group content, yes – there are dungeons, but who cares and needs them anyway?” It’s clear that gear progression is essential to you, and as long, as there are none in any given group activity, all of those activities will be not good enough for you. You guys hopping from one game to another, do you even understand yourselves, what is it you looking for? Because atm it sounds like you came into Japanese restaurant and started to complain that they don’t serve hamburgers there.

2. WvW could use some SERIOUS work and tuning for sure, i only want to point out that being in one guild with a commander doesn’t automatically mean that you, and your whole guild, should follow him on a battlefield 24/7. A lot can be accomplished in WvW by a party of 5 good players, even more can be accomplished by a bigger group of skilled players (Red Guard from Blacktide comes to mind), use your imagination and brain, be creative. But you’re absolutely right when you say that there’s no carrot in WvW. But hey, AN already stated that they’re working on it.

The point is, that if an MMO does not have Challenge + carrot + progress, then the experienced mmo gamers will soon grow bored and leave.

True. But challenge, basically, have nothing to do with having gear treadmill in a game (or not having, for that matter), and gear for cosmetics serves as carrot for many players just as well, as gear for stats, and progress can be horizontal, not necessary only vertical.

It looks like you’re looking for a REPLACEMENT for WoW, and GW2 is an ALTERNATIVE, not a replacement.

If you asking me if the class is playable and valuable in any given party, then the answer is yes. However it’s obviously limited by the swarm of bugs. Afaik same goes to necro and mesmer. Perhaps this can’t be said about engis, because while i have yet to meet a necro, a mesmer, or an ele, who would claim that they stopped playing their class because of bugs, i did meet an engi, who said that he was forced to re-roll because engi’s broken.

give us a party system and change the mini map and banish the terrible commander system.

I was just thinking that. As it stands now, if u join alone, u pretty much forced to follow this commander zerg, or run some bunker build and roam around alone without any particular goal, while SO much can be done in WvW with good 5 man party. Maybe they should enforce party requirement in WvW, so WvW would become more structured, like AB in original Guild Wars.

I still play WvW, but much less now. Main issues for me are culling issue and poor performance, game’s engine is too CPU dependent, i wish AN would optimize it further.

I think, it have nothing to do with holy trinity. The flaws OP mentioned are examples of bad game design, GW2 have plenty of them. GW2 also have lots of examples of good game design, but apparently OP didn’t think they’re worth mentioning, because “it’s a well known fact blah blah blah”, because his biased pov looks more substantiated without them, in other words.

To employ the holy trinity concept to fix such flaws, or avoid them, would be to choose a lazy/dumb way and it’s not necessary will work (look at WoW and LFR, and Heroics there) . The right way would be to learn from your mistakes and make good game design. And i think that encounters in FotM (not all of course) show that AN is on the right track, more or less.

People routinely complete content in this game with no gear on at all… there is very little of even marginal difficulty in the PVE part of this game.

Are you aware that there’re ppl who don’t do dungeons and even hate em because they’re “too hard”? And it’s not like there are few of them either. Only thing MF does is litters game’s stats table and confuses some ppl. It’s a junk.

Agreed, imo MF is a junk stat. Remove MF and balance around loot tables a bit and here u go. Game’s gear/crafting etc. systems will become cleaner.

What now, i MUST w8 before doing this dungeon on another toon? Such a horse kitten imo.

A good bunch of other MMOs (new and old ones alike) have lockout timers on dungeons, so you can do them only once every x hours. It adds to the “exclusivity” of the dungeons, makes you appreciate them more. It also encourages you to do switch up farming spots.

I don’t recall other MMOs which would lockout your whole account from a dungeon if u’ve completed it on 1 of your toons, they would only lockout this exact toon, the one who alrdy been in a dungeon, but u’re free to go on another if u want to. And then, there’s another problem, current system is not transparent, unlike the lockout one. How the kitten i’m supposed to know if this idiocy (DR) is over for me or still in place? I’ve mentioned how i play, i’m essentially a casual player, i don’t farm, i could use some CoF tokens, but i don’t do daily runs there, coz i don’t want to, don’t feel like it, i’m getting bored. So now, when i want to make few runs on more than one toon, i will get punished if i don’t dance around this stupid system, like w8ing, going doing something else, even if i don’t want to etc. In it’s essence this system is just wasting my time here. I don’t know if it prevents some exploiters or botters from anything, but it surely does taints my gaming experience.

Raising lvl cap imo is a very bad idea. New traits, re-balancing and worst of all new gear. No, i’m not a fan of this idea. Horizontal progression is the way to go, imo this game have enough of vertical progression already and raising the lvl cap and thus introducing new higher lvl gear etc. is just too much. There are other and better ways to do it, re-work some older zones, maybe make them phased, like orr for example, we did kill the Z. thingy, didn’t we? I, for one, would love to see Orr getting back to life. New zones, new types of events, new skills, new gametypes. Going straight forward and raising lvl. cap not only boring and predictable, it’s also annoying. I have enough head ache with the gear, given how many stat combinations, playstyles and builds there are.

1st time in 3 days decided to make CoF runs. Did it on my thief, 2 paths, got 60 token for every path. 15 mins later, after being unable to find a team for FotM decided to make CoF on ele, my ele got 30 tokens for every path. This is just bad, the whole system is faulty, i barely even farm anything ever, it punishes me for what exactly? For running some kittening dungeon few times a week? What now, i MUST w8 before doing this dungeon on another toon? Such a horse kitten imo.

I wonder, how ppl who worked on Wintersday feel after reading posts like this. Maybe they think like, why would we even try to do something like this again, if all those greedy kids are doing is complaining and kittening about every single stupid little thing, over and over again. We can’t have all the toys, we can’t have all the minis, we can’t have all the skins. And finally, 3 lackluster events. JP’s either too easy or even more impossible than CT, Snowball Mayhem just blows and Bell Choir blows even more, hard to believe i know. Srsly AN, why would u do some lackluster bs like this when u could just put minis in chests and call it a day.

How about ppl who extremely disappointed about everything would like to go to, say, WoW and take a look at all the “fun” during similar event there?

Jumping puzzle is fun, easier than CT, but imo funnier, employs more mechanics in it. I had the most fun in Bell Choir so far, absolutely love it. Snowball Mayhem also very enjoyable. And all of this is beautifully designed and crafted. Wintersday seems to be great so far, GJ.

Yes, i think this may be a great idea. I hope AN will listen to this.

I have 2 lvl 80’s, and 3rd and 4th r on their way. I like FotM very much for it’s concept, mechanics and art, but dealing with this lvl thingy on multiple toons just gets in a way of having fun, a bit.

In my opinion it have nothing to do with u being experienced gamer or not, it’s not a rocket science here, fight’s mechanics r not that complicated and often straight forward primitive, what it is it ppl who can’t notice those circles doing there, that they don’t have enough attention for that? Watching soccer at the same time? Ofc u can miss it sometimes, but that’s just sometimes, it happens, it doesn’t mean that they should go into complete absurd and make them flashy, more likely it means that some, i believe and hope that very small part of em, players should pay just a little bit more attention during certain encounters. Srsly. Red circles. Where, in which other game u saw something like this? Only WoW with DBM etc. installed offers more. It’s more than enough for every normal person, if u was in some party somewhere, where 3 persons out of 5 didn’t move out of those circles this just means that those ppl were dummies, or they didn’t rly care, because maybe encounter was forgiving aka too easy/poorly designed. What u suggesting is to dumb down the game and fine tune it around baddies. For example, i have yet to meet such person who would have problems noticing those circles. And 99% of my time i pug dungeons. How’s that? Overlaping and circles being hard to notice due to their size or camera issues — that’s another topic, flashy kitten won’t help here.

And btw, I’am pretty laid back and casual player.

2) Brighter red (possibly flashing) used to mark AoE circles. Something I noticed during my last visit to HoTW was I was one of two people actively dodging out of the way of the bosses nasty, nasty AoE.

Or maybe just remove all AoE from bosses all together and just give us “win” button. This is general awareness issue, imo the red circles on the ground is already may be too much, that’s why there’s an option to turn it off.

The difficulty of AC story and explorable should be lowered as it really puts people off doing dungeons for the rest of their career.

Make story mode easier all you want, but how AC exp mode can be too hard is beyond me. If anything, it could use some boost to difficulty. Or maybe just adjust scaling system, so lvl80 toons in full exotics won’t be able to faceroll solo Kholer.

Some weapon sets need reworking, such as P/P, S/D, P/D. The situation when u use only 1 or 2 skills most of the time (P/D, P/P) is not good. 3rd skill in S/D set is weak. Body Shot needs reworking, this skill, apart from being useless, is just awkward. Traps and venoms need reworking, they’re barely used in both PvE and PvP. PW nerf was uncalled for, the issue was not with PW, the real issue was the Quickness, this buff/skill is ridiculously OP. Now, this one’s a bit tricky, i’m not too sure about that, but maybe trait lines are lack synergy between them, often it’s extremely hard to find good middle ground in terms of survivability/dps balance, for PvE and WvW, in WvW this basically forces u to run some gimmick builds (backstab or condition thief), but mb it’s just me. And maybe it’s “working as intended” thingy, like thieves have their roles etc.

Just be creative. More fun and interesting mechanics in boss fights. Imo, this is as important as rewards distribution if not more. Some dungeons already have pretty nice and interesting mechanics in them (CoF, Arah, FotM), but some not so much (CM, SE?). And all of em could use some fine tuning.

For some reason Anet folks didn’t mention anything in patch notes, but today after last patch i logged onto my thief and noticed that daggers, pistols and swords no longer have clipping issue with my armor, they sit perfectly now, right where they supposed to be, while before they were clipping with my toon’s hips. Woah, such a nice surprise, unexpected too! Thank you guys (devs), A LOT!

It’s not that we don’t want new content. New content is great and all. It’s just that at this point i feel that focus should be shifted towards fixing existing content. Some classes have huge bug lists and some bugs r known since BWE1, i don’t see how this is acceptable. GW2 have lots of content already, but whole gaming experience is tainted by numerous bugs in skills and traits, in events, in dungeons. It got old and it got annoying quiet some time ago. And the fact that each new patch introduces new portion of bugs into the game makes it somewhat even more frustrating. This should be embarrassing for the developers, i don’t understand why it’s not. So i feel like saying: give us new content, or don’t, but please, fix the old one.

Somewhat disappointed. For some reason i was expecting more substantial bug fixes for classes, particularly Ele, but it didn’t happen, only some minor stuff. And most of those bugs are known for months, some even since BWE1. I’ve never encountered this kind of behavior towards bugged content from devs before, in other games. To me not a single important issue was addressed in this patch. No major trait bug fixes, not a word on culling issue in WvW, not a word on bugged Arah event chain, and it seems that game’s engine tweaking/fixing stopped completely, sound in this game has been kittened all over since beta and not a single fix for it. Ehh. New content is awesome and all, but srsly… is it what we get for no sub?
