I was hoping they would end this year with a bang.
Instead it’s just another fart.
Point of no return, no less. Might have a different meaning to what AN had in mind.
Well, in PvP it can be pretty much gamebreaking. I don’t know if they can fix it, it’s been 2 years, but it’s basically a disaster along with the particle system.
Yes. Could we? Please?
There’s one problem for me with hearts and all the other stuff. It’s sure fun the first time around, but even on my second toon it already felt like a drag. I think for the major part, at least for me, the problems lies in “checklist” mentality such world exploration structure have. You go from place to place, in a way being stuck in that one map until you’re done with it. Just as an example, in WoW at any given moment you have multiple destinations of where to go, no checklist structure to the zones, no completion to be done, you can leave at any moment, you don’t have to finish anything, to stick around even if you don’t feel like it anymore. It’s a very casual feeling and i must say i liked it a lot, it’s basically like a trip where you just stare out of the window on the passing landscape, there’s sense of a journey. And it’s like this for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time around as well. I’am not saying that’s what GW2 have to do, but just to give some perspective on some of the GW2’s questing/exploration system shortcomings. Technically ofcourse no one stops you from doing something like that in GW2 on your own, but obviousy that’s not quiet the same. So, i wouldn’t want hearts or zone completion stuff in future GW2 content. In that regard DT and Silverwastes are better imo. I’d rather have some long and rich on story quests and missions to be back from how it was in GW1.

Agree with Ayrilana.1396, looks like there’s more of Silverwastes to be opened.
Every single time i see threads/posts as long as this, i just move on.
I like OP suggestions, but just because it will make stat table cleaner, neat if you will. Same as Frostroses i don’t believe those will make something other than zerk viable in general pve.
Tbh, i wish people in pve would just forget that there’s condi damage. What’s the fuss with it, so it’s another way of doing exactly the SAME. Making supportive and defensive stats viable in pve, now, that’s another arguably more worthy goal, which i don’t think will ever happen outside of some isolated encounters. But if we imagine that someday AN manages to pull it off, i wonder if topics like: “Omagad Holy Trinity is in da house”, will start to pop up.
Nothing’s off the tableā¢
Yea, the NA/EU publisher for Black Desert was announced. Congrats. xP
While i appreciate the thought i will have to turn it off, it’s too strong and became very annoying to me, imo it should be more subtle, softer.
Considering that WvW is underdeveloped, half kitten d gamemode to start with, and they don’t seem to have resources to see it through, yea, they could as well just scratch it from the game.
It’s great, love it. However, not even ambient life can be found there, feels weird. Such wast spaces, it would be truly great if they would make some events happening there.
Combat in GW2 was designed around PvP, so in PvE it’s basically crippled. The main thing needed is dps and thus this meta, i don’t believe there’s a way around it or a fix for it at this point. Sure, every now and then, AN can release some content which would draw other gear sets more favorable compared to zerker (Teq, Wurm), but that’s always gonna be a minor thing in PvE, a sidekick, because the main body of this game is different, it favors zerker set up and to change that they will need to change how game works in PvE and i don’t think it’s possible, it would basically require a complete rework of existing content. They can, however, design future content differently, where it will allow players to fill some different roles not in a way that they will have to wear different gear sets (btw, here you all still think in that “Holy Trinity” mindset, as in, variety and roles means different gear sets which essentually means same old stuff: tank (soldier, nomad), healer (cleric), dps (zerk, condi) etc.), but rather just taking some specific tasks, positions, roles during the event itself (Marionette, Teq, Wurm, Aetherblade path in TA) and i believe that’s the path AN have choosen. So i don’t think zerker meta will go away.
As for “play how you want”. Sure you can do that. But it’s always gonna be subpar, always gonna be a sidekick, never gonna be a main thing. Yea you can experiment. For how long? A day? WP experimented with HP, came to conclusion that it sucks — end of story. Yea, you can do a bit of RPing, fullfillig the vision you had for your toon, i.e. guardian healer or whatever, but unless it’s a 40+ FotM nobody really needs your heals, so have fun, but know that you’re always gonna be a bit of a dead weight for your team, so stop complaining about others, because they’re doing exactly same thing you are -- playing how they want.
It’s cool and all, but i thought that it’s somewhat out of touch with GW2’s stylewise. Visually it looks like from another game, not from GW2.
Quality of the story is better, but that’s not what i was reffering to. The overall pace is just the same or worse if you take into consideration HUGE breaks between episodes and breaks between parts inside of each episode. It still feels like a major DRAG, just like S1 did, only for me it’s even worse. It’s pretty much impossibru to get invested in any of this like that.
It’s same crap as in S1 only worse this time. They stretch tiny bits and pieces way too thin because they don’t have anything else to offer.
Agreed. Only, time to re-think it was probably a year+ ago.
There are also splashes from your footsteps. The Bugwastes.
So, recent LS episodes sorta got me thinking. Jory’s now walking around with a greatsword and she’s been practicing with Rox and she’s a necro…
Yep, same here. One guild is fine, but another bugged, red marks and items greyed out.
Yes, i agree with OP. The big background projects Colin was mentioning back in a day turned out to be feature packs and EotM etc., and they’re not small by any means, but in no way it’s an expansion scale, i believe, most of the players were hoping for when they heard about that. And all this “we haven’t heard from some ppl in AN for awhile and there are some big names there” (i.e., maybe they’re just not working there anymore), and all this “stuff” some fanboy saw them working on while passing by, it all reminds me at this point of some conspiracy theory people are playing. I remember something like that happened after ME3, people didn’t want to believe that Bioware can end a trilogy like that and kitten them over like that. Same here, people don’t want to think that there’s nothing expansion big coming to GW2. But it’s very possible. I voiced exactly those concerns back in a day when LS strategy was announced, there was a usual “nothing off the table” comment. Here we are, a year and a half later, it might be nothing really ON the table as well, not only off. Nothing on, nothing off, maybe there’s no table at all. xD But it’s too early to sprinkle ashes upon one’s head, year is not over and they might say something about it in early 2015 etc. If it comes eventually, i believe it will be that late because of LS essentually, it probably means that they started to work on it way later than they shoud have.

guys, seriously. stop with these posts already. anet need to focus their development time on making ACTUAL content, not all this “enhancement” nonsense.
For real, that’s what was holding back AN from making an expansion. This motherkittening consumables tollbar. kittenmit AN, just drop it then!
If they announce a huge expansion/content patch now regardless of if it’s free or not, I’m willing to be a large part of the people regularly buying gem is going to put the game down until it comes out and thus no longer generating revenue.
Yea? And how does that work exactly? There are LS and feature packs, those people doing same stuff they were doing all this time in game, spending gems on whatever they were spending them. Expansion announced. And what happens exactly? If anything, i for one would feel like playing more actually. But those hardcore players suddenly say, hey, F. that and this, i will wait till E. comes out then i’ll come back, bye GW2 for now. Doesn’t really make sense to me. Unless AN comes out and says something like: look, we’re gonna do E., so no more LS and feature packs for now.
I’am quiet sceptical about this. I’am not saying i believe they’re not working on it, but if in the end it turns out that they’re not working on it, then i won’t have much to say about this except, not like i expected any better. The “stuff” they’re working on doesn’t really mean anything, obviously they’re working on stuff, the real question here, is this stuff an expansion or something comparable, or just future episodes and feature packs etc. In one of his recent videos WP said that he believes that the reason that they’re not telling anything about expansion is not to make players think: “oh, i might then put off GW2 for now, untill expansion comes out, then i’am gonna play”. … How do you even come up with something like that. Imo it’s a worst case of wishful thinking. They might be quiet about that because they started to work on it not that long ago, so it’s in the early stages of development, that’s what i think. I would love to be wrong in the end, but for now there’s no reason to think otherwise or to believe in something.
It’s not the first time this topic pops up. Zero reaction so far. That’s too bad. I wonder how hard can it be to implement. PvP folks seems to be doing all kinds of UI improvements all the time, next one incoming on Dec. 2nd.
Usually i only play, but in GW2 it’s play and read, which is funny. I cought myself thinking about it just recently. For some reason only in GW2 i felt the need to post something on forums, usually i just play, in other games. Like in WoW, there were a lot of things i disliked, and it’s funny how thought of voicing my discontent on forums never even crossed my mind. Ever. I don’t know, might be because i usually had something better to do, in game.
PS. Reminds me of joke. Forums are GW2’s end game. xP
Should I do the same old dungeons or fractal for no good loot? hrmm.. wasted enough time today, let’s go play WoD.
Hahahah. Oh boy, do i know this feeling.
Turn off post-processing. Removes bloom around particles and thus makes it slightly easier to see wtf on earth is going down there.
They have a very clear window of opportunity right now because there is nothing earth shattering immediately on the horizon that will be a direct competitor to GW2
Not an expert, but i think that window of opportunity will present itself a bit later, maybe a month from now, after things around WoD settle down a bit.
I understand OP and i greatly appreciate her effort and some of the answers she was able to give us. But, what OP said is basically the reason why i rarely check topics with red posts anymore. Because it’s probably just another hug exchange. Hey, yea i like it too, luv u all, <3, bye.
I agree, i always thought it’s a waste of resources, art etc. with little effort they could just use normal weapons underwater and just change skillsets.
Meanwhile, that other game sporting 3.3mil sales on it’s latest expansion, hitting 10mil mark in subscription, which happened for the first time since …. i dunno, 4-5 years? If memory serves me right. What good expansion can do. I’am sure their cash shop sales doing MORE than great. xP
Went in as zerk thief, d/p+sb. Spent 70% on sb, obviously. I think that fight is great, good boss design.
PS. Btw, i meant the first boss, the winged creature, i dunno their names. The last boss was bad and boring, spend 99% in melee behind him, just autoattacking.
I guess that old “new GW2 class: commando” joke wasn’t actually all joke. It’s horrible and trash and it surely doesn’t belong in GW. In Far Cry maybe, but not in GW.
Yea, i have 3 guardians and 2 thieves. Reasons? It’s like creating new image i guess, new persona. Plus, what else there’s to do? xD
You and 24354656734 other players think that way. But that’s not for GW2. In GW2 the ascension is when you pile up stacks upon stacks of all kinds of crap for a week or so and then spend half an hour staring at filling up progress bars on your screen. This is fun gameplay and good game design in 21st century for you from Anet. Enjoy.
How is SW a zerg map? Imo, it does quiet a good job at spreading players across the map. And in general DT and SW introduced some solid mechanics to make maps interesting after completion, if at least 30-40% of the rest of GW2 maps had those mechanics (tiers, unique skins, some high end meta events requiring map wide org. etc.) we would have quiet a different and better game right now. And i believe less people would complain about lack of end game etc.
At this point, the only way for them to compete with this is to announce an expansion of their own.
Who wants to compete with that game? It’s the undisputed king of subscription based MMos, and probably the undisputed king in profit making. It’s also a game with a really massive audience, unlike GW2, which is a more humble game.
Each one has it target audience, and I don’t think GW2 will suffer too much because of WOW’s expansion.
Besides, the expansion’s story really sucks. I played wow for years and the story stopped being interesting after WOTLK.
Now maybe no one, not because they don’t want exactly, rather because they simply can’t. But as i said, it used to be different on release. As of humble, in terms of sales GW2 started out great, it also very likely to be one of the most hyped games (MMOs) at start, if not the most, the problem was it couldn’t keep it’s players.
As for target audience, personally i think it’s mostly pile of crap used to cultivate a myth that nothing (not another MMO release, not WoW expansion) can hurt GW2 playerbase, because, you know, target audience. I don’t believe GW2 to have one set in stone target audience, or WoW, there are all kinds of players, most veterans are tired of GW2, lots of people looking for options. Personally i think WoW expansion already did hurt GW2 population. Some of the people who left will come back though, at some point.
Yea, i was wondering how long it will take people to figure it out. Yak nerf incoming. Hahah. And i’am just gonna throw it in here. If you have enough ppl on yak it will spawn champs and those champs will drop bags. Hf.
At this point, the only way for them to compete with this is to announce an expansion of their own. Not right now, obviously, maybe ~2-4 months from now or so, whatever. Do they want to? They used to, couple of years ago. Since then it turned out not exactly the way many of us, and i believe many of them, wanted it to. And even if they do announce, it’s prolly not gonna be about competing with that game anymore, if it ever was, it’s gonna be just for the sake of evolving and surviving. If they ever had a chance to compete, it’s already successfully blown.

I believe it was just an oversight that this encounter was part of the temporary content and not the permanent one, AN just didn’t foresee it and didn’t plan for it. Obviously now it will be harder and somewhat tricky to bring it back and make it stay, lore wise etc.
But yea, this is easily another Teq/Wurm-level world boss encounter right there. One of the most fun encounters i’ve ever played in any game.
Those were somewhat decent fights for LS encounters, but if it to make it to the FotM, it needs to get much, much better. Boss fights i mean, the area itself was fantastic.
Just pay attention to mob’s attacks and in general play your class properly. Playing exotic zerk thief and mesmer, doing fine.
After playing it for a bit, i don’t think you can build another WP even at tier 4 etc. But again, i didn’t find it to be any kind of an issue for me, so far. Might be quiet opposite, some of the arguments made for having only one WP i find quiet valid. Like, this might be partially why there are no zergs of 433435 ppl and it adds additional incentive to not die and rez ppl.
What i find annoying is that sometimes you die for no reason after jumping into the breach. I hope it’s a bug and i hope it will be fixed.
I kinda like it more that way. Colors and all. If they ever rebuild it, i hope they won’t just bring back old LA.
Yes, i thought that was rather strange. Perhaps a bug. Because it doesn’t make any sense.
It might be not coming at all, like ever. They should consider the market etc. Russian market is quiet big, i believe, but it have it’s features, like Korean MMO’s were quiet strong there since the Lineage 2 times etc. And GW1 never was a thing there, it was somewhat popular i think, but died out faster than in Europe. There’s AA there right now, WoW traditionally strong, Tera release soon. So i dunno really how much people GW2 could attract there right now. Russian community used to be somewhat big in GW2, but since then a lot of guilds and people left.
Well, this re-imagined version turned out to be even more beautiful than original. Thank you.
I’am not sure what OP could be referring to. Done this episode and played on the map as zerk thief, doesn’t really get much more squishier than that, and it was ok for me. I don’t recall any retal killing me etc.
