isn’t there a “hacking” option when reporting someone? “cheating” in some games can be referred to as “hacking”, because they are mostly exploiting security holes within the game code to manipule it
if not, this topic should be moved to the suggestion section
there’re definitely should be a “cheating” or at least “hacking” option
although, i’d like to have both, because “hacking” could be misunderstood

i never really paid attention to it...but if you don’t get a shield-kill with your mainhand weapon nd also don’t get one if you just deal damage once with a shield, give a mob the final blow with skill 4
shouldn’t be that hard with regular enemys
look how much you drain of the enemys lifebar with the shield skill 4
keep a good eye to the enemys health and if he’s almost dead, finish him off with your shield
you can make a personal challenge out of it whenever you fight something :P
you can also try to get this achievement with another class able to wear a shield
achievements are account-wide...but i don’t know if such classes have damaging shield-skills

i’ll use it to make dyes, food, receipes as well as to get equip while leveling (if not 80 yet)
but i think the karma vendors, which are only selling about 3 different cooking ingredients atm will sell more in the future, when crafting finally serve another purpose other than just leveling (one can dream, right? -_-’)
so i disagree...karma is good for more than just getting your exotics and skins

it’s because of armor-types (heavy, medium, light)
makes no sense if everyone can do range-dmg, heal, support and dodge
it just let heavy-armor classes appear stronger, while light-armor classes die quite fast
example:
mesmer got medium base vitality, low toughness, low damage compared to other classes AND light armor...worse combination for a mostly medium ranged class, also makes the use of melee weapons pointless...tho i like dual-swords-mesmers...
clones and stuns as well as alot stun-removers doesn’t help much when multiple mobs gang up on you
while the warrior got nice DPS, heavy armor, high toughness, medium vitality and can also wear ranged weapons...
if light/medium armor at least would give higher stat-boosts to balance the lack of defense out

these tips seem helpful, but they aren’t
it’s like a “general guide to PC-tweaking”, which barely gives you any noticable performance boost
except for older machines…but high end?
i don’t even run a high-end PC (i7 950 quad @3,55ghz, gtx580, 8GB ram @1066mhz, GW2 installed on a ssd) and can multitask while palying GW2 at max settings just fine (mplayer, firefox, some system-check tools in the background like “coretemp” and all that with 40~60FPS ingame – limited at 60FPS)
and my CPU never goes above 55°C (about 131~133°F) while doing so which are nice temps for my hot-tempered CPU model, especially when overclocked
but yeah, the summer boost those temps up to the sky…but no way to cool down my room…so i just throttle my system, if it get’s too hot outside
the best thing to do, when running a geforce gfx-card, is to mess about at the nvidia-control panel (i assume, the optimal settings are posted somewhere in this forum)
and get at least a quad core CPU…GW2 likes good CPU’s
and behold of bottlenecking…it’s when one component slows everything else down, mostly caused by people who just buy random components from the internet and blend them together – get some help, if you are not sure about the single components, before you buy them! some components are just not compatable to some others OR could get higher performance when mixed up with certain ones! ;D
also, turn off the windows 7 aero peek and visuals while running GW2 (rightclick the .exe or shortcut, go to properties, select the
“compatibility” tab and there are the options to disable them)
GW2 drains not nearly as much performance as some other games, i’ve installed
my power supply is about to melt down when playing Crysis 2 O.O
…might come in handy at winter -_-’

with "free camera mode" disabled, the camera automatically resets itself back to behind your character if you’re moving forward
when enabled, it remains static if you selected a target
so enable it, if you think the camera resets are annoying...matter of taste
also, you can take screenshots from your characters frontside when walking with "free camera mode" set to enabled

and this is also the reason why my face can’t be stopped from being palmed when reading things like “this game forces me to buy gold from 3rd party websites – it makes things go faster for me and there is nothing bad about it, the game publisher is just mad, because they don’t make money instead”
it’s more complex
botting, goldselling, hacking…it’s all (except for some few single exceptions)

about dungeons and speedrun-token farming: you are (for the easiest and most fun and strategic way) restricted to the developer’s way of playing them, with their testet build and group of specific classes
so ways to speedrun were found, which is not what the devs had in mind
for anyone else, who does not do EXACTLY like the devs:
either rushing through, dying through or don’t do dungeons at all
now it’s the communities duty to find another, less lame ways, to bring fun into dungeons…
a timer is not the solution
just reduce the reward at the end for each avoided monster
btw, totally agree with TC’s first words about DR
dungeons are never intended to speedrun through – it’s faulty dungeon design getting exploited imo
and i’m sure it will be, as all the other restrictions, removed until a better solution is found
like the “blah blah blah you spammed too much”-message only comes up after a specific amount of players reported the player as spammer ( just an example – would be exploited in game to troll other players)

put something basic out of a genre – tell ppl it’s “fresh” and “new”
no duels: fresh and new
no face-to-face trading: fresh and new
no mounts: fresh and new
awesome logic, fanboys
the biggest argument i’ve read so far which would speak against mounts is “you miss 90% percent of the games content with them”
i can do that easly without mounts too
also just don’t give them accelerate, just good ol’ 33% faster than without – some classes can do so already without them – that way, anyone can
and it looks way more cool (depending on the type of mount)
i have no doubt that they will be implentet
maybe next month, year or expansion, who know, but it will happen
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
i had problems at the beginning with underwater combat but after a while it gets easier
underwater mobs mostly have less HP and you always have an underwater-weapon with a massiv AoE and most of them can’t follow you when fleeing on a beach/isle
but champions + underwater is just a frustrating combination - especially with a barracuda-zergfest around the champ
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
classes should have their goods and bads
archer got it’s range but low on defense, healer got it’s defensive and healing abilitys but low DPS…and so on – that’s what most players are familiar with
but in GW2:
any class can heal, CC, dps and (if aggro shift wouldn’t be random) tank
personally, i have no problem with that idea…it’s nice and fresh w/o holy trinity
but armor types in GW2 just let a few classes appear weaker than any other
some, like the necro, got enough vitality to balance out low toughness, tho
every class can also wear melee weapons and got nice melee attacks but die within a few hits which makes wearing melee gear pointless (i’d like to use mesmer with double-blades, but it’s almost unplayable)
warrior(heavy armor, mainly melee), elementalist(light armor, range, high DPS and defensive/healing spells) and ranger(medium armor, mainly range) seems to got it right
how about this:
heavy armor: high toughness – low stats
medium armor: medium toughness – medium stats
light armor: low toughness – high stats
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
(edited by wauwi.9162)
of course
GW2 will get those (i see no reason why not)
but i guess the priority of the devs is to fix bugs and balancing out stuff right now
give it a little bit more time ;D
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
best GW2 thread in existence
im serious…most threads on here are (no matter in which section) are flame war threads about how much GW2 “suck”…some ppl really like to let the whole world know about their intention to leave this game while stating they go back to “random grindfest mmo” instead of just doing so…like we care
and yeah, GW2 makes me realize what’s important in a mmorpg
playing since it launched – level 65 – played plenty hours – still motivates, still not even saw 20% of the game
some racers might think “wow what a low level n00b” but i’m just playing the game as it wants to be played
no fanboy

^ since when do people give anything about forum sections? if the mods doesn’t care so doesn’t the users
and don’t get me wrong, dungeons still need ALOT work
they are not fun for me as they are right now
balance them out, get rid of the bugs make a troll preventing group system for them (which is impossible imo)
and i would be happy
and if you don’t strategize through the dungeons, spend pointless time and gold into dying through it
works too – i don’t like it
i also don’t like a-net’s idea of using specific classes and builds to get through a specific dungeon
very social too
you going to any dungeon, search for a group and you get rejected, ‘cuz you are class “x”
but as class “y” you don’t even have to ask for an invite
i still don’t get what spam has to do with dungeons nor i even exactly get what TC wants to tell us – which makes my post pretty pointless
well whatever
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
here’s the ultimate dungeon advice – 100% success proof!
0% fail – guaranteed!
DO NOT GROUP UP WITH RANDOM PEOPLE
story mode might be succesfull 30% of the time with random people but still frustrating
i learned it the hard way
random votekicks, structured votekicks, afk-ing, leaving, flaming about watching cutscenes which results either in a votekick or leave, no structure and willing to learn and adapting to situations (which results in the group walking mindlessly into the same mob-group and dying over and over)
that socialness the game provides and advertises… /sarcasm
so yeah, get a guild or grab your friends, then do any dungeon, turn on your brain within a dungeon and you are all set
and if you still die at some spots, well, you will know better afterwards and will hopefully not do the same mistakes
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
why no mounts? which argument/s would speak against that? they wouldn’t be more like a fashion item, so no unbalance or whatsoever (if they would NOT give them some OP speed hack buff skill :P)
i’m a fashion victim – also i’m a ranger who wanna ride on mah animals like a boss
some mounts could be race-related – for example: asura rides on golems, charr on tanks, and so on…
also give them some sort of exclusitivity
to quote the TC: “No mounts – I simply don’t understand…”
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
of course, this game can’t please everyone, but i must admit (as a "classic" mmorpg-gamer) that the innovations are more than enough to compensate the lack of features i miss from previous mmo’s (a few of ’em might be added in the future)
about the awesome beauty of this game ---> see the attachments
GW2 features the best graphics of any mmorpg out there right now, though, it could be better nowadays...but hey, that way even slow performance PC’s can handle it’s awesomeness and it also might get texture updates in the future
btw...did anyone saw the beauty in 3D already? tho i have no 3D screen, i can convert the 3D screenshots to N3DS format and watch them - looks kewl but it looks more like several 2D textures - could be due the conversion though :P
