(edited by wauwi.9162)
your soundcard and ssd’s won’t affect your framerate so I’m not sure why you mention them. if someone told your case, hard drives or sound card have any affect on your fps then you were taken for a ride, do some research
soundcards affects the framerate? lol
but well…if the driver barely works and the soundcard is a broken pile of elecric garbage, than it might actually be possible, depending on the ingame sound settings
about SSD’s: your half correct
SSD’s can increase your framerates and highly decrease the loading times
flash-memory FTW – not even 10 seconds between double clicking GW2 and being ingame (depends on how fast i can type the password)
oh and around 5-10FPS more compared to my HDD
thanks to faster drive-to-ram buffering
just benchmark it…or compare SSD with HDD yourself
but if your HDD’s transfer rate is at 6GB/s, the FPS differences won’t be that high
it also depends on the manufacturer of the SSD
(edited by wauwi.9162)
You wont get 120fps in large WvW battles with the best cpu/gpu on the market. And WvW is cpu dependent so really the gpu is a non factor.
i wonder why people keep saying this…GW2 is in fact more CPU dependent than any other MMO I’ve played so far but any quad core @3GHz or higher will do it
OC’ed my i7 950 to over 4GHz without ANY performance boost
but OC’ing my GPU’s clock from 772MHz to 888MHz gave me 10 frames per second more
so the GPU is not less important than the CPU
@topic: in case you would like to run the game on optimal quality:
you will never have 120FPS in WvWvW, until GW2 is ready for hyperthreading/the usage of more than 3 cores…even then, it would proabably “just” be at around 70-80FPS imo
get an i7 and one or two (sli) gtx6XX with 1GHz clock speed, optimize you system, watch out for bottenecking/incompatible components, install GW2 on a SSD, get superspeed internet, triple channel ram @2GHz and you have done everything you actually can do
you probably will get around 55FPS most of the time during WvWvW with that until GW2 is optimized by the developers
(edited by wauwi.9162)
GW2 is an MMORPG which presents unique challenges for game developers. I think that ArenaNets MMORPG is the best technically so far but it is not perfect.
sure point, but don’t release a game until it’s working perfectly.
people these days got way too tolerant for bugs/glitches/other technical problems caused by the game
though, alot of problems can be solved by the user/player
What specific issues are you experiencing?
FPS drops down to 40FPS or lower at certain areas.
these areas includes water and everything else that have reflections, animated objects like tree shadows or flames and NPC’s (not monsters strangely)
Are you able to consistenly duplicate those issues?
yes, i am
Can you tell us the steps you go through to cause and/or fix those issues?
just being at these areas causes it
[attempts]
tried to fix this by OC my GPU’s clock to 1GHz and my CPU to 4GHz – did not increased performance
also terminated EVERYTHING, that runs in the background (which is not vital for the PC to run) as well as COMPLETELY disabled any windows visuals (desktop looks like win95/98/2k) – did not increased performance
optimized my network connection – did not increased performance
[FIX]
it can be either fixed by disabling vsync and restart the client (obviously screen tearing after applying this – also FPS goes sometimes higher than needed which heat up my system, frame limiter will decrease the FPS to 50 or lower)
or
set render sampling to “native” (ambient occlusion must be disabled at the nvidia-cp OR reflections has to be set to “none”, or some terrains will be invisible)
or
set reflections to “none” (will solve most of my FPS drops, got still some drops at other areas)
also, reinstalling GW2 completely gave me a nice boost of performance ingame
For example, I still experience blue screens due to overheating in GW2 when I forget to set my cooling and fans just right.
maybe you just have to audjust your OC settings a little bit? :P
i don’t get a blue screen, but randomly, GW2 terminates and the GW1 (yes, ONE) website with the message “overheating or bad OC settings blah blah” opens
it never happened again since i increased my vcore a little bit
it looks like you can test your system with prime95 as much as you like, but it only guarantees that your PC will run stable on anything BUT GW2
note: my GPU’s usage is at about 60-70% @normal clock and it’s temps are at 50-60°C (customized fan speed) and my CPU’s usage @3,68MHz is at 30-50% and it’s temps are at 50°C while playing GW2
i wonder why it uses CORE1, 2 and 3 instead of CORE0, 1 and 2
(edited by wauwi.9162)
personally, i don’t recommend this release (gtx5xx)...except if you recently bought black ops 2
it’s unstable (not uncommon for BETA-drivers) and won’t gives you any optical or performance based tweaks on GW2
stick to the latest WHQL one (v306.97)
i played around with all the GFX settings there are and it seems that “reflections” are the culprit for those FPS issues lately
if they are turned off, i get my desired 60FPS wherever i am
if enabled, i get massive FPS drops, depending on the scenerey
i wonder why this setting does drop the FPS so much…
OC’ed my i7 950 @4Ghz and gtx580 @1Ghz and still nothing
my CPU and GPU are both never above 60% usage – so i might just throttle the clocks down again
also, invisible terrains at some spots (native rendering only) are caused by reflections
turn the reflections off :´(
like everyone else with this problem, you have 3 options:
wait for an epic gfx-card driver update
wait for an epic GW2 patch
or get two gtx680 sli :P
if anyone i saying, that this game is heavily CPU bound is only half correct
i can OC my i7 950 from 3,1Ghz to 4Ghz without getting even 1 frame per second more
but OC’ing my GTX580 to 1Ghz does the magic...+15FPS more (not recommended to OC your gfx-card tho, except if you really know what you are doing)
i assume you guys running “native” rendersampling?
try set it to “supersample”, which even high-end systems can barely handle atm, subsample, which just look awkward or (best solution there is until this issue is fixed/patched) set reflections to “none”
[UPDATE]
i am so happy right now – walked around at genderran fields and getting constant 60FPS (88-100FPS without limiter)
even at the spots, where i never got anything higher than 35FPS
it might be tedious to do, but reinstall GW2 if you experiencing massive performance drops lately (during the last 2 weeks especially)
you have nothing to loose :)
btw…had one more GB free space after reinstalling GW2…i wonder why O.o
[UPDATE2]
now the framerate behalfs on his own again...it’s bearable now but the 15-25 random FPS drops at certain spots are a huge mystery to me
sure...heavy loading (alot of trees, a lake, etc in front of me) but OC’ed GTX580 to 1Ghz and CPU to 3,9Ghz and i just get about 5 frames per second more?
so *reinstalling GW2* will not solve all your performance issues, but it may help to reduce them
just wanted to make that clear, after tested it more
i limited the framerate at 60FPS...higher doesn’t make sense to me or would make my whole framerate going crazy (9~109FPS O.O), probably due throttling
before re-installing, my framerate was about 30~45FPS mostly during PvE
it’s probably the case again tomorrow -_-’ i just don’t know why GW2 hates my PC so much but any other high-demanding software/app/game doesn’t...
(edited by wauwi.9162)
you’ll be still member of your current guild
but keep in mind, you can’t play with your friends/guildmates during the time you’re on a different server and server transfers are limited to every 24H
how about getting some help from friends/guild-mates in WvWvW?
it’s alot easier in groups to complete the maps and mess about there...you might even help out your server by looting some supplys and planting some rams at fortresses
most guys on my server are playing at different day-times...so i got trouble at WvWvW as well
sup GW2 community,
i recently read that i am actually by far not the only one with quite a beast of a PC and really bad perfomance issues since the halloween event (if my sys-specs interests you: http://www.sysprofile.de/id170142)
so i really tried everything there is to make sure that we, the customers are not the problem about the really bad FPS lately:
running game with all win7 visuals disabled – check (win98 style FTW)
optimized network connection/looked for network errors – check
game installed on SSD – check
OC’ed my i7 to 3,7Ghz – check
OC’ed my gtx580’s clock to 1Ghz – check
watched out for any bottlenecking component (most likely my RAM) – check
cleaned my system virtually and physically – check
tried different nvidia drivers – check
tried different nvidia-cp settings (preferably the one’s recommended by a-net) – check
did the -repair command/deleted GW2 temps/local.dat – check
clean boot – check
opened hardware-manager for possible faulty/missing drivers – check
still not a slight increase of my framerate…got probably even lower -_-
well setting render-sampling to native actually works pretty good…but then the ground dissapears every once in a while and since the last 2 patches, i got a really bad aliasing effect when turning it on while zooming out in combination with in-depht-blur
so i thought really hard and then… EUREKA!
why didn’t i thought of that one earlier:
RE-INSTALLING GW2
so i did and…works pretty amazing so far
got my steady 60FPS back at PvE, still pretty stutterish at the black citadel and lion’s arch but well…PvE work’s like a charm now
but as usual, in my case, one solved problems worships another – game crashes now when entering WvWvW
that overheating/voltage-problem website pops up…i’m pretty sure no of my components did overheating during GW2 – they do not after hours of max heat tests with prime…and it runs also stable at prime, so it can’t be my voltage(note: message popped-up without having my gtx580 OC’ed)
but i won’t try to solve that issue…would just make another 10 problems pop out…
TL;DR
try re-installing Guild Wars 2…it’s definitely worth a try
i bet not many thought of that yet, cuz it just takes awkwardly long…:P
and i know, A-Net admitted perfomance issues on their site but i won’t wait for them to fix those, though i demand things to be fixed immediately as a customer T_T
so i hope this will at least help some of you guys!

make sure that v-sync is not disabled or set to "adaptive" at the nvidia control panel
disabled...well it’s globally disabled even if it’s turned on ingame
and adaptive mixes enabled and disabled up...if you running low FPS, it disabled itself to increase performance regardless of possible screen tearing
there’s also "adaptive (half framerate)"
self explanatory enough
*system:*
http://www.sysprofile.de/id170142
(cpu runs @3,7Ghz now)
*settings:*
everything at auto-detect (maxed out)
except for render sampling, it’s at supersample, because native glitches up really bad and got some serious aliasing and in-depht blur beyond anything bearable
*FPS:*
PvE:
min - 9FPS
avg - ~40FPS
max - 109FPS
DE’s:
min: 9FPS
avg: 35FPS
max: 55FPS
PvP: (don’t really like it atm)
min - ?
avg - ?
max - ?
WvW: (never get in...should be the same or worse than DE’s)
min: ?
avg: ?
max:?
Cities:
unpopulated:
min: 35FPS
avg: 45FPS
max 55FPS
populated:
min: 2FPS
avg: 35FPS
max: 45FPS
*NVidia CP/MISC:*
i am using the CP settings recommended by A-Net
driver version 306.97 (beta driver 310.33 gives me overheating/low vcore crashes...)
installed on SSD - kept clean
resolution @ 1960x1080p - fullscreen
visuals/aero-peek completely disabled when launching GW2.exe
the usual repair stuff didn’t change anything
did network checks and tweaks
did a clean start to see if anything slows GW2 down
*NOTE:*
i got steady 60FPS whenever i was at the time driver version 306.97 was released
then i was inactive for about 3 weeks and now this mess of framerates
so if the above poster is telling the truth...should i spend over 1500 bucks to being able to play this single game flawlessly?
i can play all my other games perfect on "extreme" (dx11) with no problems...and i will be able to play the next gen games too at max settings, because they won’t change that much the next years...just compare a 2 year old game with the latest/next month one’s...almost identical system requirements
TL;DR
even if i OC my GPU’s core to 1000mhz, my CPU to 4Ghz and my RAM @1666Mhz i still don’t get any changes of performance...well 1~3FPS i think, though...
(edited by wauwi.9162)
i’m using the latest WHQL ones (the latest BETA one is even WORSE - common issue for nvidia lately...even previous games running not quite as flawless as before -.-) and btw i know about hardware and software stuff...enough
that sysprofile should tell ya:
http://www.sysprofile.de/id170142
said all relevant things.
*waiting for A-Net to fix stuff*
native seems to work now...but suddenly i got a aliasing effect if i zoom out (AA effect especially on my character only)
let’s see if i can fix this at the nvidia-cp...
also vsync disables itself at times now...
oh and my FPS goes crazy now - 6~109FPS O.o
once you solve one problem, another one takes it’s place -_-
why is GW2 such a diva if it’s about peformance and quality...i can play the latest high-end games out there at "extreme" (dx11) flawlessly but then GW2 got installed at my computer and i’d like to throw it out the window now
i OC’ed my i7 even further (@4GHz) as a test to see if this actually changes anything...
watched out for bottlenecking RAM
cleaned my SSD
nvidia settings at max performance
well i guess i got 1 frame per second more than before...i could be wrong though
why am i not satisfied with 40-60FPS?
because of random FPS drops
i want to have a nice little buffer so that i’m not able to notice them
edit: now it’s steady 60FPS again no matter on which map i am
what a fickle game
edit2: steady, extremly stuttering 45FPS now o.O (feels like 20, laggy FPS)
this starts to make me mad Dx
alot things became better since my 3 weeks inactivity...TP, PuGs... even botting and goldselling
but the performance is still really bad most of the time...over 10 weeks after this game’s release...as a customer, i’m starting to lose my patience
(edited by wauwi.9162)
I recommend default settings for the Nvidia Control Panel unless you are having issues. If you need to change your graphics settings, let GW2 control the settings in game. The latest Nvidia drivers fully support GW2 on supported Nvidia GPUs. The Nvidia driver will autodetect the game when it loads and load the stored profile created for GW2 by Nvidia in cooperation with ArenaNet. In game hit ESC, select Options then Graphics. Then click Choose... Autodetect to let the game load optimal settings for your system.
I am currently running GW2 in SLI mode with no issues. Perfromance is strong in all situations including large scale wvwvw. I used the settings I suggest above.
You can get the latest Nvidia drivers from
http://www.geforce.com/drivers
I use auto-detect to select the right driver or you can select the appropriate driver from the drop-down menus.
so the recommended nvidia-CP settings should NOT be the ones that the actual developers of this game are recommending?
well it’s always a kind of opinion and taste which settings you run there.
i’m always set them up to my taste of performance and quality and what my eyes actually are able to see and what not.
you can’t mess that much at the nvidia CP anyways...
and the game always autodetects native rendering(everything else getting maxed out)...i can’t tell the difference between supersampling and native really but if my character walks up at some hills, the ground disappears if set to native.
every other settings does not affect my FPS in any way except reflections and shaders.
btw: A-Net already admitted performance issues on their side, also my internet provider got transmission issues especially with the A-Net servers...
so i can’t increase my performance except if i’d move near to the A-Net servers and change my internet provider...
i’ll just wait...i mean 40-60FPS aren’t the world’s end lol
(edited by wauwi.9162)
simple suggestion: another skill-slot for consumables only.
i ran into this issue many times...whenever i buy something awesome from a NPC, such as a teleport weapon or an animal whistle which summons a little helper for 5 minutes or for 5 minute food, i have to open my inventory first in order to use them.
in battle, it just takes too much time to do so which eventually leads to death.
i hope that this suggestion finds it’s way through the dev’s...it would add so much more to the battle mechanics.
in general, the best nvidia-cp settings are the ones recommended by the dev’s.
but everyone running different cards and drivers whichmay require you to mess about at the settings until you are satisfied with the graphics and perfomance
i didn’t played for about one and a half week now and noticed something weird:
my FPS
it’s now at steady 50 frames per second
it won’t go higher or lower...i tried everything (limit FPS to 30 cuts it down to 25 tho)
well it could be worse right?
i’ve read somewhere on here about this "issue"(?), but i can’t find the thread anymore
had the same issue (nvidia user)
updated my driver ---> fix’d
afaik the "downed state" resets the survivor achievement
it’s not a bug, but shouldn’t count as "dead" for the survivor achievements, because it doesn’t make any sense, however, without it, it would be too easy to get this achievement (you are supposed to do that one monthly, not daily, so it’s fair)
tip: since you get ALOT of exp when crafting stuff, (except for cooking- got balanced), crafting/exploring new receipes at crafting-lv 200+ will get you that achievement in no time
(edited by wauwi.9162)
you can’t really play a ranger successfully on pure range in this game and you have to rely on your pet…sure, he doesn’t help you that much in PvP-situations, other than supporting maybe (Heal, Buffs etc)
but a smart choice of pets is awesome in 1on1 situations (cave-spider stuns, for instance)
tho, there are almost none of such situations…
most people choos the bear in WvWvW…it seems to have the highest defense
sure, longbow arrows are easy to dodge, but got superior range (up to 1500) and your enemy can’t dodge them endlessly (2 times and he have to regain endurance w/o buffs/skills)
and to keep that range, i got a sword as secondary weapon to dodge attacks and get range with skill 2 as well as increase my critical chance with my offhand-horn
also equipped the skill “lightning reflexes”…it removes any kind of stun, damages a little and let you dodge a huge step backwards as well as it buffs you with faster endurance regeneration
maxed traits on Damage and Crit and the rest goes either to toughness/vitality, or to your pet-stats
i do about 50% dmg on range, about 5% with my sword/horn DoT, 20% with conditions, such as bleeding and the rest is dealt by my pet
i’ll try it with 10 on beastmastery soon
but it really seems that the ranger is not designed to do ranged damage only…not in GW2, which handles alot things different than other mmo’s
TL;DR
no, i can’t see any viable pure ranged dps build in this game other than by elementalists (or warriors, maybe…)
(edited by wauwi.9162)
@Samuel: did you accedently swapped the “7” with the “9” in “306.79”? :P
got steady almost stable 61FPS now with the latest driver (306.97) on my GTX580
had about 40~55FPS (mostly about 45FPS) before
i had to reduce the shadow effects to “high”, because the camera stutters on moving and turning if set to “ultra” (no FPS changes), but it also could be due some control-panel changes i did after updating
everything else in-game is set to maximum quality
frame-refresh is set to 60Hz and the framerate is limited to 60FPS
oh btw, my system:
GW2 installed on OCZ Vert EX SSD/connected to a 6GB/s SATA slot (also windows partition)
ASUS Rampage III Extreme, I7 950 @3.63Ghz, 4x 2GB Corsair DDR3-SDRAM @574.3MHz (Triple Channel), and of course my beloved GTX580 1,5GB-GDDR5 @772Mhz/24.7GPixel/s
still more OC potential and 2 other 2GB corsair rams of the same type lying around here collecting dust (i removed them, because they heat up my whole system and they are pointless…i never even scratched 6GB utilisation even if i try hard…also they are running on double-channel if all DIMMs are used)
but my powersupply (cheap stuff/750W) and my big, huge, monstrous CPU cooler (expensive as hell/liquid metal filled heatpipes – not better than a good Noctua) are crap
not even 400 bucks for the whole system…bought the stuff from a high-end lover who declared that setup as “junk” and gave me them for 300€ (about $385)
man…can’t understand high-end lovers
if anyone got a similiar system, i’ll gladly post my nvidia control panel settings as well as other performance related settings(some BIOS stuff, Win7 stuff, etc)when asked for it

^not true at all.^
not to me though.
as i said, did you guys tried my advices? and are you sure it’s not just a placebo?
i keep my SSD clean and below 70% used space (especially if it’s also the windows partition) and do not have such issues.
i just noticed that the character-selection screen loads for 2 seconds...but that could be the case earlier, before the october 7th patch, too.
if you look at a loading screen biased, while thinking "man, i heard that it loads slower now", then it will be slower - guaranteed. :P
oh now i get it
sorry...didn’t noticed that a fifth archievement was added
totally my bad :D
should’ve asked at the "players helping players"-section - but i’m not a mod, so:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Monthly
it’s probably "????" because you still did not added a single progression to it, just look up which is missing
example: if you never exctracted materials out of equipement with a salvage kit, it will be appear as "????" but as soon as you salvaged something, the counter starts to rise and changes to "xxxx items salvaged this month" or something like that...
hope it helps
(edited by wauwi.9162)
well, in germany it was first place at the most-selled PC-game charts the past month and is still at the third one
but will be probably first place again or on the second next month…the competetors are MoP, fifa13 and borderlands 2
or maybe not – i can’t see into the future :P
emptiness is just an illusion
players transferring characters to newer or less crowded servers, visiting different zones while progressing or simply don’t play it that much anymore, because the launch-hype-effect is gone
sure, alot left, but that’s ok – but i can’t say if that is balanced out by new players or not, but less activity after a few month of a mmorpg’s release is totally normal
also, the GW2 servers are so crowded, that even 5% less activity feels empty
and don’t forget about bans
emptiness would actually not be a bad thing at the moment…less WvWvW queues and less lags :P
(edited by wauwi.9162)
Orr is a high level area...but i guess you are not that serious about that question...
by the way...my medical condition also forces me to be at home most of the time over the past years (except for uncle-doc visits and important appointments) and only got 145 hours with all characters since it launched...so that’s not really a reason to play GW2 all the time - but if that sort of ingame-time-management doesn’t get out of control, i have nothing against it :P
weird... i’m pretty sure, at all other previous mmorpgs i’ve played, that it was way more hours that i’ve spend on them...
really felt to be forced to play, because of the slow progression - but that was part of the marketing
arenanet just got rid that sort of thinking and still making good money
i’m hoping that this sort of gameplay will inspire the developers and designers of other, future mmorpg releases
though, i’d like to have a slightly lower exp-rate and a drastical nerf at crafting-exp at GW2 - a rusher can get to max level in 3 days or within an one-and-a-half-day hardcore session
...and then they are complaining about the lack of contents -_-’
(edited by wauwi.9162)
about post #1:
100% agreed
most mmorpgs got a very slow progression and are mostly played hardcore because of this
such games also gives you the feel that you need to rush through things in order to not getting bored or being rewarded frequently
more content is simply an illusion at that sort of games
you just need more hours to get an end-geared max level character than at GW2
that’s the mistake which often leads to “i’m at 80 and bored”-posts – they probably played it at least 4 hours a day while rushing through the game
there is no need in GW2 to do so…i got that within the first day playing it
i’m playing almost daily since the game launched and got my ranger at lv67 and my mesmer at lv29
GW2 is not meant to be rushed and played hardcore
almost no game is, except some Pay2Play or Pay2Win online games or maybe such games as touhou :P
but it’s hard to get rid of that “need…that…lvup…fast” mentality when you grew up with it…

also running GW2 on a SSD (windows-installation drive) and didn’t noticed any difference
it might be the placebo effect
i’m always keeping that drive to less than 60% capacity and clean it daily as well as disabled prefetecher, hybernate and superfetch for the best performance
i read somewhere on here, that deleting your temp-file within your GW2 folder would help at some loading-screen issues (it will be rebuild on launching GW2)
can’t confirm it tho
updated my GTX580 to 306.97 and now i got steady 60FPS :D (35-50FPS before)
yeah i know, not noticeable by the human eye anyways, but that’s a nice buffer for more populated areas, also, no matter at which framerate your game runs, if it’s online add/subtract 20 frames to it
i had to set the shadow-effects down to "high" after the update, because on "ultra", the camera stutters when moving it around but i can live with that :3
maybe i can get rid of it when messing around at the nvidia-cp a little bit, but now, i’m too lazy to test out different settings
(edited by wauwi.9162)
the following suggestions are probably too much to ask for, but hopefully gives the a-net team some inspirations for future implenments.
i hope it destroys not too much of the “simplicity”, if that’s what a-net had in mind while designing the pre-battle-mechanics.
first, i’d like to have a bigger choice of weapon skills to choose from.
5 skills are just not enough – not per weapon.
sure, just choose between different types of weapons, but you will just have your 5 and that’s it.
you still can use your 1-5 keys only, but you’ll being able re-arrange or swap them with different unlockable skills.
how about connecting this “advanced” weapon skill unlocking system with the weapon-kill achievements or some other achievements.
of course, there should be limitations, like if you have already “skill-x” equipped, into one of your slots, you can’t additionally choose “skill-y”, otherwise, everybody ends up having the same broken combination of skills.
the second thing would be, giving the different types of armor (profession-based: heavy/medium/light) a valid point.
currently, there is none.
it just makes heavy-wearing classes survive longer, which is pointless if everyone is able to wear range&melee weapons and without being able to “tank”.
that one is pretty simple: increase the stat-boost of medium and light equipments
or decrease the stat-boost of medium and heavy equipments.
most heavy wearing classes already got a high defense and the cloth wearers-gameplay doesn’t nearly balance out the lack of defense.
of course, professions should also get base status-point changes to iron out possible unbalancing and maybe some trait-changes too.
but to be honest, medium-armor wearing classes got a lot of preventing/get range type of skills.
that armor-type issue wouldn’t be that much of a deal, if this game would have way more 1v1 situations…mostly you fight multiple enemys (aka “zerg”), which can be even tough as medium-armor-wearer. (especially at some personal stroy quests or empty areas)
cloth-types can’t melee thanks to that…they would die instantly.
man, i’d like nothing more than a good double-blade fight with my mesmer…too bakittenep dying, ewven with blocking and dodging abilitys – i’m forced to keep range
tl;dr
suggestion 1:
unlockable and interchangeable weapon-skills (weapon-skillslots remains at 5)
preferably unlockable by achievements.
suggestion 2:
give armor types a reason to exist in GW2 by giving different types different attributes and boosts.
these suggestions are made by the limitations, which i do experience lately when choosing between builds and weapons – some simply overpowers others or are pointless in 95% of the game…i’m still using the builds/weapons i like, but without noticeable success.
i have no doubt, that this will change sooner or later, i just want inspire how that could look like.
(edited by wauwi.9162)
i use my mouse mostly...just W-A-S-D (no click-to-move here -_-’) and "put away weapon" on key "Y", sometimes "C" for weapon swap and of course "F" for looting/any interaction (played a shooter-game alot before GW2, so i’m used to that key-setup, customized to what i feel most comfortable with)
but i can’t keep my hands off my mouse
it also got some nice extra buttons, which i use for skills like "Lightning Reflexes" on my ranger
i wish i could report them...but i never saw one single botter so far...not at Elona Reach (german server)
and not that much goldseller in the chats and mailboxes either...get max 1 mail per 2 weeks and a goldseller only posts twice in the map-chat usually until he remains silent (for whatever reason)
i don’t know if this is just overreacting or simply THAT bad at the NA servers

Has Guild Wars 2 been worth your "50€" (about 65 washingtons)?
yes - wouldn’t even regret if it would be the digital deluxe (75€), but it was sold out
my little bro even bought the collectors edition (150€)
fanboy...one single negative word about GW2 and he flames me to death
there’s still "the classic way of the grind"
1.: just kill mobs on one spot like you do in any k-mmo
2.: do it again
3.: do it again
4.: sell gear to the NPC and mats at the TP after you start getting aching muscles
5.: profit
i did that for months in RO...for just ONE item...man i must have been so bored at that time...good times tho
took some down with my ranger...but some champs are so weak if they have the ability the spawn adds (alot, yeah, but one AOE from a single person ---> all dead)
and mostly they go invulnerable and remain calm until the adds are dead, so time to rest and stall away your cooldowns
i would count on a mesmer too, with the right combinations of skills, you always got some clones/phantasms out to distract the champ..but it would take ALOT time to take him down
also depends on the champion...some are like 4 year olds, some are on super steroids and not soloable, no matter how much skill and good gear you have
but they are never meant to be taken down solo in the first place...

I’m probably the definition of an alt-aholic, but for the moment, my main is a Ranger. I love running around with my pet spider exploring different areas.
we got the same taste
jungle spider is my spider
but it can’t handle some jumps…he’s like “dude, i ain’t going nowhere -_-” ?_?
does anybody actually know that such battlesystems (or similiar) are already implented to mmorpg-like console games like phantasy star and monster hunter?
but GW2 is the first who made it successful on the PC
there is monster hunter frontier (mmo) for PC (beta) and the good ol’ phantasy star universe
first thought on GW2 when i started playing: "man it feels like monster hunter had a baby with WoW"
so yeah, i’m very familiar with that sort of battle system/s
but hey, that are still totally different games, like WildStar
so can’t really compare that to GW2, especially not just by some video/s
NCsoft seems like the only company who developes/publishes MMO’s i like (former AION player)
though, that WildStar game doesn’t appeal me (judging by the videos)
and about the question, if somebody already left GW2...would be wrong if they’d still post in the GW2 forums if you ask me :P
even if another mmorpg would caught my attention more than GW2, GW2 got casual playability, so there would be no reason not to lurk in once in a while for some sPvP or events
oh and i’m glad that more skillbased battlesystems finally reached the masses
doesn’t mean they should stop making classical mmorpgs, but nowadays, it’s quite hard bringing some fresh air into it

as soon as i bought a decent controller for my PC, i might give it a try while playing GW2
seems like it would fit into the battle system...
i know what you are thinking, "controller and mmorpg? how could you!" :P
you don’t want to build one yourself?
you can always get help from a trusted computer-store…
however, here’s a site with affordable, yet high perfomance PC’s:

maybe you’ll find there what you are looking for ;D

i know that most of you are sick of the following term...but GW2 also targeting "casual players"
they can get the most fun out of GW2
but still enough content for "serious" players...just make another character and do their story...well that’s what i do
also, WvWvW is more likely made for the serious playerbase...nothing ou just can instantly and quickjly do after logging in...
i take down mobs at range just fine...faster than any other class, i play around with
you got a pet, can boost your longbow to 1500 range and reduce the longbow-skills cooldown by 20% with trait skills
you also got your secondary weapon to assist - my choice: sword(get range)+horn(crit-buff)
seems like just another flame-thread to me...please get more information before posting flame-threads
you forget the desktop showing monitor/s and the TV on the right
but hey, you probably didn’t saw them, because your bragging got in the way :P
but seriously, doesn’t that costs alot of energy?
my eyes barely can handle one 24" screen...they would blow up on your setup (sure that one in the midle is 30" ? mine looks like the same size...
want red LED’s on my big-tower case *_*
only got some orange inside on the cooler and blue "eye" ones at the front -_-’
tl;dr
i’d feel confortable in that cave
would any dev motivated anymore if they would visit this forum daily?
the game would get a crappy, single, about 15GB big, pile of bugs if they would...
they probably got better things to do, than bother with this mess of a forum :P
so people actually give any attention to haters?
i sure don’t
everytime a game is released or getting a massive update/addon, people will start crying and wondering about missing, promised content
it’s as normal and traditional in mmorpg as launch-lags and will also decrease over time like those...
it’s starts to get insane in GW2 lately though
does everybody nowadays just blindly buy hyped games instead to inform themselves about them first? if alot people likes a game doesn’t automatically means you will too
and why do they always make a huge thread at the forums, stating "i’ll go back to *world of whatever*" (instead of just doing so) while criticism the game and it’s devs in a non constructive way?
and then the fanboys throwing oil into the fire...thought they were too busy vigorously playing GW2...
seriously, i wanna have an answer for ^this^ question
*IF* something would destroy GW2 for me, it would be the weird community...
at the german forums, there’s a thread called "what i don’t like about GW2"...got about 140 posts in it
then i did a thread called "what i do like about GW2"
...about 30 posts...

you don’t like leveling as well as the endcontent? (i still say there is no endcontent, or just endcontent...point of view)
then my friend, get a nice, big, friendly, social guild to do WvWvW, sPvP tournaments or dungeons
or start playing it casual...GW2 is designed to be played as long OR as short as you like...it won’t give you the feeling that you are forced to play it
if this also doesn’t appeal you, then GW2 is just not your type of game :/

what i get from mess around in lower level zones:
1: lower tier materials
- by gathering
- by salvaging
- by looting
- usually sells great on the TP
- you also need every kind of material for your other characters or for yourself to explore new receipes
2: exploring
- you can do 1 while doing it
- nice, relaxed type of gameplay if tired of killing stuff
- you’ll probably see something new! everybody likes fresh air ;D
- some champions are soloable, if nobody’s around, you can challenge them
3: exp + karma to go!
- exp rates increase with higher level
- free exp + karma while doing 1 and 2 :)
- maybe you’ll find a nice looking armor/weapon at heart-quest karma vendors
it also got nice casual-gameplay value if you aren’t much into GW2 anymore and bored at max level – some instant fun is never wrong

did you do anything special with your alts after logging in? (events, personal story, etc)
might be a bug...guilds are known for bugs...sometimes i and all my other guildmates, except for the leader have to rejoin
it already exists
this pic gives me the motivation i need:
