The math is on this thread. Check out the math by Ayrilana or Illconceived. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Tiered-Fractal-Rewards-collated-KING-data/6149258

Basically, for every one Fractal T4 daily run, you get 4 chests (T4,T3,T2,T1). At 2.9, 2.5, 0.8, 0.5 percent chance of armor (lets discount weapon for a bit) each. You can calculate (roughly) the chance of getting at least one ascended armor chest from these 4 by calculating the chance of not getting anything from each chest.

Chance of not getting anything = 97.1 * 97.5 * 99.2 * 99.5 = 93.4% of not getting any ascended armor from one fractal T4 daily run.

This means 100-93.4 = 6.6% of getting ascended armor chest from ONE fractal T4 daily run (4 chests). This hasnt taken into account weapons which push it to around 8-9% percent. And rememebr this is only one fractal stage.

Basically with this new approach, you get more chance per actual fractal stage run. 11.9% from four stage (pre-HoT) compared to 6.6% from one stage. Binomial distribution puts the chance of >=1 asc armor chests dropping at around 18.5% from three daily runs at 6.6% each(3 stage).

However, it’s true that now you can only run 3 times per day with decent chance of ascended (the dailies).

If you used to run Daily 50-40-30 for 12 total fractal stages daily, then yes, the expected number of asc chests you get daily is less than before.

As above.

Remember that pre-HOT we only get 1 Level 50 fractal chest at 11.9% asc drop for 4 fractals run (as we only get them after the boss fractal). Pre 19 April we only get 1 champ daily fractal chest at 11.4% asc drop after 3 runs.

Now we have 1 T4, 1 T3, 1 T2, 1 T1 chest after 1 run. As per calculated in the thread referred, it’s around 8.9% percent chance to get Ascended (weapon or armor) or around 7% chance of Ascended armor. While it is less than the champ fractal box before, remember that it’s only 1 run, and we can do up to 3 daily fractal runs per day now. So for the comparable number of runs (3), we now have 3 chest at 7% each compared to 1 chest at 11% each.

If the data is correct (and the sample size is significant), we have a much better chance for ascended chest per number of fractals run now, somewhat up to 19.5% chance of ascended armor per 3 daily T4 (bigger if you count weapons too).

If it’s just between my mains, I have the easiest time solo roaming with the following, in order of easiest to difficult :

1. Dragonhunter
2. Tempest
3. Chronomancer
4. Berserker
5. Scrapper
6. Herald

But from what i’ve seen from my mates, Reapers and Druids are the easiest since they have minions to tank for you and are tanky.

IMO familiarity with the class matters a lot in this case. My Scrapperkittenis a bit rusty, so i find it harder using her in HoT areas. However, i believe the class has the requisite tools to solo well. On the other hand, i hear people complaining about playing tempest or chrono in the jungle, while I find them easy.

There are better times and worse times for events. For VB, if you want to do a specific outpost, it’s much easier to get people doing it right after a night meta. Especially on a meta map, where you have lots of people with nothing to do after night bosses. Asking around in mapchat at that moment will likely get some people willing to join.

For AB it’s also after Chest farm which is the good time to ask people to do events. TD is the weird one as the pre-meta event timer is too long.

People, stop necroing 6 month old thread.

There’s a new LFG section for HoT maps in place since this thread is first made. Go look for VB/AB meta there if you need a populated map. Most of the time there is a VB meta map. If you need a canopy boss, find a T4 Night VB map, as to get T4 you ilkely need to kill all Canopy bosses. I find maps aiming for T4 every day around 13:00 GMT. EVen if they dont reach T4, most of the time they killed all 5 bosses.

ABis even easier with the chest farming going over there. you can find like 6 active AB map in a day.

Limiting it to just Raid and Fractal chests does limit the scope a lot. If it’s possible to do so, it’s an interesting idea at least. People will still get shafted by RNG, but prolly this will reduce it.

However, as with all changes to existing systems, we don’t know about the existing system in place, and whether it will be a big effort to change it.

Whoops, missed one zero there. It was 0.0098 instead of 0.098. My bad :P I used 7% because on the forum thread there is someone who calculates it at 7%, but it apparently is for armors only (excluding weapons), so 0.0019 is likely correct.

Back to the point, yeah, by the nature of RNG it does not balance out for people in the outliers. By nature, again, it does not keep track of historical data. The system doesnt care that we have gotten 89 drops in a row of bad drops. It only knows that the next crate we open has 8.9% chance of ascended box.

It’s a bit hard to figure out an alternative, though. Should the system keep track of each drop, labeling each as ‘good drops’ and ‘bad drops’, and after each drop, add a chance to get ‘good drop’ to players who get ‘bad drops’ and reduce the chance for players who already get ‘good drops’?

This will be a nightmare to keep track of, with each player having different drop chance for each kind of container. In the end, I think the RNG system is there because it’s the easiest available option.

Assuming a 7% drop chance (as per on the KING data thread), yes it seems you were a bit unlucky. Of course, if my binomial distribution math is not rusty, there is also around 9.8% probability to get exactly 1 chest out of 90 tries with 7% drop rate. So while it’s not likely to happen, it’s not that outlandish either.

RNG being RNG, while you have a lower than expected drop rate, some lucky guy out there is counting his sixth chest in a week.

If you’re in VB during night, it would seem there’s not much to do but events, until the choppers arrive and you fight the night bosses. During day, you would have several chain of meta events taht you can follow for story and good loot. The day events is like the temple chains on Orr.

My advice is to actually follow the HoT personal story as this leads you to different areas of Verdant Brink, and do the outpost metas while you pass them. There are five outpost meta events in VB with different story, so it’s worth doing all of em.

Maguuma Wastes is a region, like the Shiverpeaks, Ascalon, etc. It’s not a zone.

Now, the Maguuma Wastes region consist of two zones. Silverwastes and Dry Top. Those are Maguuma Wastes. If you have dailies like ‘maguuma wastes lumberer’, you do it at those two zones. Not anywhere else.

That writing you see north of Silverwastes, i assume, is just the general region name written on the map, instead of a specific zone.

Mesmer getting wrecked in HOT

zakuruchi.4086

Hi, fellow mesmer here. The jungle can be a bit unforgiving for first timers, especially if you got to Verdant Brink at night. Don’t be discouraged, though. From personal experience, my mesmer actually does better than some of my other classes as we have so many survival tools.

The thing that you need to get used to is that you can’t really run through mobs like in Core Tyria. In a pinch, you can do it with a combination of blink, decoy and sword 4, but you need to be careful about it.

For actual battles, try to isolate enemies and start each battle with GS 4 and/or Sword 5. This lets your phantasms absorb damage that’s going towards you. The HoT enemies mostly have hard hitting attacks, but somewhat squishy. Don’t try to tank the damage. Instead try to dodge/block their big attacks while your phantasms are killing them.

Use Blurred Frenzy (Sword 2) and Riposte (Sword 4) to block highly damaging attacks. These two, combined with dodge rolls, signet of midnight (with Blurred Inscriptions trait), and F4 means you have a lot of blocks to avoid damage.

Exotics are fine at HoT. Soldier’s (Pow/Vit/Tou) are good for survivability, but if you think you need mroe damage, you can start using some Berserker (Pow/Prec/Fero) stat equips and mix it up. I personally use a mix of Berserker and Knight (Tough/Pow/Prec) equips and survive just fine.

Make sure that GW2.exe and GW2-64.exe (or whatever the 64 bit exe is called) is configured to use the GTX970M.

The ROG has switchable graphics card. The low FPS is likely because it is running GW2 exe on the low performance Intel HD onboard card instead of the GTX90M. NVidia have switchable graphics setting that lets you designate a program as high performance (using the GTX90M) or low performance (Intel HD).

zakuruchi.4086

Please consider making Condensed Mists Essence a tradable commodity. As things stand, you cant do Fractals without AR, but you can’t get AR without doing Fractals. A typical A-Net Dev22 situation,

Ok, first of all, you dont need AR to do fractals 1-20. None at all. Fractals at these levels also gives you rather common drops of ascended rings and pristine fractal relics from the dailies, as well as fractal relics to buy versatile simple +5 infusions from the vendor.

Rings from fractal, accesories from guild commendation/laurel/story reward, and amulet from laurels, all fitted with versatile + 7 infusion should be enough to get you to at least fractal 35. Above 20, you can start getting infused rings, mats to attune them, etc, enough to get you to fractal 50 and beyond.

Short version, no you dont need AR to start doing fractal, so this is not a catch 22. You only need them for the higher level ones, and you can get em by doing the lower level ones, unless your guild only does the 50+ ones, then you can perhaps ask them to do the lower ones with you so you can catch up. Or find another group/PUG that does lower level fractal.

zakuruchi.4086

It will likely hurt their next expansion release if adjustments are not made to make this expansion enjoyable for everyone.

Sorry to tell you, but there is no way to make something enjoyable for everyone. Nothing is enjoyable to every person, as everyone has different taste and preferences. Just look at this thread for example. The OP and some people is turned off by core tyria because it is too easy. Some others dont like HoT because it’s too hard.

Some people say people quit because HoT is too hard/frustrating. Well, before HoT people also quit because GW2 open world is too mind numbingly easy too.

At the end of the day, what they can do is to make it enjoyable for the most people they can. We don’t have the metrics, so we can only guess whether more people like the harder HoT difficulty or core tyria difficulty.

Back to the OP’s question. Yes the difficulty level has been improved. You will likely have to dodge more than before and use some of the utility bars. The enemies hit hard but squishier, so it keeps you more on your toes.

Missing Tyria mastery points [Merged]

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: zakuruchi.4086

zakuruchi.4086

Anet tells me this can’t happen, but it just happened to me three days or so ago.

The last three mastery points in Pact Commander are by achievement ONLY, so I did achievements until two out of three were lit.

Knowing I had ONE more mastery point to go, I watched carefully, because I know GW2 loses things and it has a penchant for losing things out of my account – this is the fifth thing taken wrongly from my account alone – so I know there are many others who are NOT watching their accounts as carefully but they aren’t getting these mastery points either.

This isn’t a glitch, this is a database calculation error. Period.

Here are the pics – first the stars, two out of three are lit.

Then, after the LAST mastery point they all reset to STILL needing three.

…And Anet has sent me 13 emails arguing instead of helping me get back those three mastery points I absolutely earned.

Please understand that I posted the pictures in the order they happened.

I had two out of three stars in Pact Commander LIT.

Now all three are back to being dark and I can’t even touch Pact Commander – it’s totally grayed out.

Agreed with Stitch, it seems like you spent the 3 mastery points on Fractal Mastery in between the screenshots. From the screenshot the fractal mastery went from 2/4 to 3/4, it costs 3 mastery point to do that, so probably you spent it there by mistake.

If it is indeed the case, perhaps you can ask CS to refund those 3 points from fractals. Not sure if they can do that though.

PS : For most of the missing achievements on this old page, its because people are counting the Hero achievements for personal story as one per chapter per race, while it is only one per chapter (once you get it as a race, you cant get it as another race) as clarified by a link somewhere up there.

As said before, they dont have a dungeon team anymore. It’s only guessing, but it is possible that at this point the original dungeon developer team is no longer working for ANet and it is too much time/resource drain to assign people to familiarize themselves with the dungeon source codes.

It is a common thing with complex software development, sadly. Even with codes that are properly documented, it takes a lot of time and effort to get people up to scratch to a legacy code even if there are people familiar with the code mentoring them. If they no longer have the original team, the cost/benefit ratio might be too big for the management to justify assigning resource to learn the old codes.

that is NOT “easy content”
that is RAID content

I’m not sure if this is trolling.. because story mode GW2 is super easy. Like.. one of the easiest MMO contents out there and I played a lot of them. Raid content? not even dungeon content compared to other MMOs out there.

Ascended gear, fractals question

Thank you for your answers, it helps a lot. Specifically, Sacrificial Savior – Save Grawls, defeat the Grawl Shaman in the Volcanic fractal and Homeland Re-claimer – Help the Charr reclaim their homeland in the Urban Battleground fractal.

So here I was, never even running one once, being told I couldn’t run any yet. I’ll have to see then if those are the higher number fractals. Just knowing that the 1-20 fractals are something that I CAN do, without making myself a “carry” which I won’t do, if I try hard enough is a good start then.

Agony infusions…hmm I looked some up on the TP, expensive, BUT it says on some crafting mat for Artificer, I’ll bet I might be able to make those then, I wonder if there is more but just knowing to look for “agony infusion” on web sites and the Wiki is a big start in the right direction!

Thanks so much!

Hi,

To reiterate what people have said, you dont need ascended nor agony infusions for those two specific collection. Ascended and agony infusions are only needed to resist agony, which doesn’t come into effect till fractal scale 20.

Luckily, Urban Battleground is available at scale 1 and Volcanic is scale 6. That means you can do those without any ascendeds or infusions. I suggest you try with some friends or LFG stating you’re new to fractals. At those levels the fractals are easier than dungeons, so you shouldn’t have a hard time.

I forget how much XP do you earn for discovering level 350 recipes when you’re at 390. If it still gives you decent XP, you can discover and make sigil of elemental slaying and and the level 350 potions (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Artificer/Adept_recipes)

If the XP is too small, you can prolly just discover some Rare items instead of exotics. Some variants of Krait Star or trident for example. Just make an insignia that you don’t have yet.
