Easy, fast-moving/exploring class?

Ranger and Necro are good choices if you mainly want to explore leisurely. Necro minions and Ranger pets make exploring pretty much risk-free and both run reasonably fast from level 13 or so (Ranger through Signet of the Wild, Necro through Signet of Locusts). The minions and pet also assure that you just need to do minimal input to get past most open world content.

General impression for me is :

Gliding in Central Tyria is awesome.

Shatterer is good. Better than before for sure, not as hard as Teq but not snoozefest either. Pacing is decent.

Balance patch though… seems like there’s a bit overnerfing in places. Alacrity nerf is a bit over the top, IMO. moving it to 50% rather than 33% might work better. Remember that alacrity is the cornerstone of Chronomancer, if you still want to go with 33%, at least buff all the alacrity-modifying traits in the Chrono lines so they have a significant effect.

Well of precog nerf makes it somewhat useless.

Revenant sword 2 tracks a lot of random stuff, not just enemies, might want to fix that.

Eh? Is this really 2016? Do people still have problem with Silverwastes boss mechanics? I thought that’s so last year…

(and yeah, you’re right. People do need to get to that triangle zone to avoid the stun)

Hey,anyone out there think their should be a way to get legs, chest, and shoulder insignias easier? Also, revanant should have dual wield axes like the warrior.Revanant is lacking some major dps as a low level.

Revenant lacking dps? That’s probably the first time i see it being brought out….

As long as you’re using a sword (or hammer), your dps should be good.

Hi and welcome!

1. It’s not exactly different server, but different instance. And yes this can mean that events that are done in one instance can be not finished in another instance. Generally you have 1 hour from the message pop up until you are forced into a new instance, so you have plenty of time to finish up if you’re in the middle of something. (Unless it’s in Dragon’s Stand, but that’s another topic altogether)

2. You can start using hammer, but you won’t get the full potential of it until you unlock pretty much everything. Optimally, it’s better to stick with rifle/pistol, but you can try to use hammer and see if you like the playstyle. You need to replace 1 trait line for Scrapper to use the hammer though.

For hero points, you can start the HoT story 1 (Torn from the sky) and get to Verdant Brink. The hero points in HoT zones are worth 10 HP each, making it quite fast to unlock specializations trees.

3. Healing Turret is the best Engi heal IMO. You do need to overcharge it to get full benefit. If you just drop it, the heal is rather slow.

I usually use healing turret by dropping (6), immediately overcharging (6 again), and pick it up (F) so it finish cooldown faster. For longer battles, you can skip the pick up part, just remember to overcharge when it’s off cooldown. For emergency healing, you can overcharge and then detonate the healing turret (F1) for a Water combo blast.

4. I think it usually takes 7 to 14 days for the full feature to unlock (but i could be wrong). You can contact support if it hasn’t been opened after 7 days.

Is HoT worth playing if i have limited time

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: zakuruchi.4086

zakuruchi.4086

It depends on your playstyle. If you play with a goal in sight and want it to be done quick, then I’ll say no. With limited playtime, it will take a while to get to the long term goals of HoT like the upper tier masteries.

If you don’t mind playing with enjoying the journey instead of rushing to goals, then yes it’s worth it. Also, how spread out is your gaming time? If it’s 2-3 hour during weekends, but almost none during weekdays its no issue. If it’s only like 20 mins a day it’ll be tough to do the HoT metas as those take a while to do.

Should i get into this game?

Max Level : Depends on what you do. If you do only PVE without Tomes of Knowledge (instant 1 level, got from dailies/PVP), my personal experience is around 2 week of 2hour/day playing time. You can make it much faster with XP boosters, food/util buffs, crafting etc. Personal story is also a good source of experience.

PVP : More team oriented than 1v1. PVP is done only in organized areas though, so you can skip that totally.

Raids : It will take a while for a new character to be prepared for Raids, but general opinion is that it’s good and not too hard once people know what they’re doing.

Community : In game, GW2 has a good community. In the forums, not so much.

Difficulty : The wiki does a good job compiling the info. The game itself doesn’t really teach you that much though. Much of what you learn is more from trying it yourself or community info than in-game info.

Good list from above.

I’d add these easy ones as well

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Fighting_Pit (only walking required from shrouded ruins, you’ll pass it if you do the pale reaver meta)

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Abyssal_Depths (drop and glide to the tree nearby and walk on its roots)

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cliffside_Ruins (drop and glide from just above it. may take a few tries without Updraft)

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Airship_Wreckage (Jump on top of the nearby roots and glide over. may need good positioning for the initial glide)

You can refer to http://dulfy.net/2015/10/25/gw2-verdant-brinks-hero-points-guide/ for details how to get to each one.

46 more hero points means you just need 5 hero challenge from the HOT maps. That’s like.. 10 minute work with just Gliding basic? Well, probably more if you need to grind Gliding mastery, but from experience the first mastery line is rather fast. Prolly around one VB day outpost meta.

I would suggest taxiing to a VB map that is doing the meta and do it with people. Once you get gliding basics mastery you can get the commune HP’s in VB easily.

Nice one. This is a huge QOL increase for 700 gems. If you have copper-fed salvage that is. 500 would prolly be a better price but 700 is acceptable.

Permanent bank access looks more enticing now.

Immune to CC

zakuruchi.4086

when i hammer smash boss mobs like the molten fractal boss or bloomhunger, it reduces the blue bar by some amount.

but sometimes, it doesn’t do anything and instead an “immune” word shows up.

Why is this so?

Bloom has ‘Cant be moved’ status which blocks knockback/pull and probably launch/knockdown (not sure on the last ones).

I think one of the molten boss is invulnerable while he’s jumping to make the shockwave, so it could be your skill hits him while he’s invulnerable.

Second set of Mistward armor?

It’s through collection sets. You unlock one collection for each complete Revenant trait line you train. Once you complete the collection, you get one piece of Mistward armor per collection.

The last collection requires the previous 5.

Hi,

As noted by the people here, you can level together, then do the personal story once for each character. Once you get to level 30, if you select the same orders, you can do them together (only once). I leveled some of my earlier characters with my wife’s like this.

Honest Discussion: HoT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

zakuruchi.4086

Honestly?

I like HoT maps a lot. It’s challenging, which gives a completely different feeling compared to the core Tyria maps. The Metas are also flavorful and fun to do together, instead of just randomly zerging and pressing 1. Well, some VB bosses can still be done like this, but the further in you get, the more you have to know what your character can do.

Dragon’s Stand and Auric Basin metas are loads of fun. TD might need some change on the time (2 hour is a long wait), and some tuning for SCAR lane, but it’s interesting nonetheless. It’s fun doing it with a random PUG and seeing everyone cheering when we made it with 1-2 minutes left. The sense of accomplishment reminds me of the first time I did Triple Trouble.

There are not that many maps by numbers, but I’ll take interesting multiplayer content like DS and AB metas over the whole same old Shiverpeaks + Ascalon map content any day.

I play casually, prolly 1 hour a day or so, so I just took the masteries as a long term goal instead of something I need to get right away. Prolly that’s why I don’t see it as that much of a grind. Same with ascended stuffs. Exotics + Asc Weapon + Asc accessories is enough for raids anyway.

The Chak Gerent is just fine

From experience it seems SCAR works best if you have 20 people there. More than that seems like it upscales. Those 20 needs to have good DPS though. Other lanes can afford lower DPS, but SCAR seems like they need DPS the most.

Just went back from PUG-ing TD yesterday. Totally random people, just coming in around 20-30 mins before KoTJ started. Made it with around 2 minutes to spare. No TS, just Map/Squad chat and 4 commanders who knows what they’re doing. Ogre lane didn’t even have a commander till 5 mins left to event.

With time people will get it to a better success rate IMO. The only lane that might require ‘fix’ is probably SCAR.

Melee DPS i’d say Revenant. It’s useful in any PVE, decent in WvW/PVP. Their movement speed is not the best though, so you might be a bit slow moving around the world map until you get Herald (which is level 80).

Ranged DPS engineer or ele are the best, but they both use a lot of kit/attunement swapping, which you said you don’t like.

Toxic Cured Hog Disabled

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: zakuruchi.4086

zakuruchi.4086

No its not supposed to be gated behind anything and it isnt, its easily doable without food, regen or masterys, the reason it was disabled is because people were using it to level up by repeating it over and over again for the xp.

This. They likely want to limit this to only be doable once per character or once per day so people cannot use it for ‘free’ XP. People are using it as a repeatable, combat-and-resource-free XP source. Quite a large amount of XP too.

Do Troll Guilds exist? (Teq)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zakuruchi.4086

zakuruchi.4086

I seen this at TT as well when (Edit out) or some guild was there at the start point and all ported away at last moment, and the world was left under populated and failed due to not enough players for a single wurm.

I think most major guilds that run TT usually map jump (which you might see as ‘port away’) around 15 minutes in advance, but they do camp the start spot since 1 hour in advance, usually after Teq. This is usually to get the map to be full so a fresh map is created, which they will then jump to en masse. The reason is usually to accommodate as many of the guild members as possible. Fresh map = more slots for guildies.

This might or might not cause the original map to be under populated, though, depending on the timing of the major guild’s map jump. I suspect this is also what happens to the OP’s original complaint (a major guild suddenly map jumped to a fresh map in order to accommodate more people from their guild in one map).

If that is the case, this is an inherent issue with the megaserver instance system instead of the guild trolling people (though it might look that way from the POV of the map that is left behind). Not sure how ANet can fix it other than allowing guilds to create their own ‘shard’ of the event map, though that might tax their server too much if all guilds start doing that.

Unlock one waypoint in each major city, this already greatly increases mobility while losing nothing.

They already did. You can just go through lion’s arch and go through the asura gates to each major city. Then you unlock one waypoint on each major city. Just takes about 5 minutes.

One-day Purchas Gear

Why would someone buy an empty account just for (in this case) wings? Bear in mind that likely most people that want those wings in the first place want them on their existing characters. You know, those level 80, fully geared characters whose items they can’t move to a new account?

I have a hard time believing there are a lot of people who would (illegally) buy an empty account just for items that they can’t trade/move to other accounts. Not to mention those items will likely be sold again one day.

Jumping Death and "Mid-Air" message

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: zakuruchi.4086

zakuruchi.4086

Since yesterday (25/6), some people including me have experienced random deaths while jumping around Lion’s Arch. The jumps are usually small jumps with no damage, but causing us to suddenly go to Defeated state as if the jump is very high.

In a probably related case, we also experience a bug where we sometimes are unable to use skills or click on things. When we try to swap weapons, the game gives a message ‘you cannot swap weapons while mid-air’. My suspicion is on some places, the collision detection is awry, causing people to ‘drop’ beneath the map mesh, killing them if they ‘land’, or permanently treating them as ‘jumping’. This usually happen when using the karka hunting rifle.
