Low Drop Rate of Airship Oil

I tend to get more crowbars than I need. I have over 100 in my inventory right now. One day I just ran through looking for the chests to open with only doing the occasional event and still had a lot left over. I have always thought we get way more crowbars than any other keys like acid or exalted. When I play the metas in VB I usually just focus on doing the events without running around too much looking for the crates to open. I usually just do them for the exp to level up my masteries and open a chest as I find them.

Why can't we buy crowbars?

There is also a merchant outside of the Vigil Keep that gives this weird token you can click on daily, and request 1 crowbar, or other assorted type ‘keys’ used in HoT.

What token is this and which vendor? Is this the supply line vendor?

Guild Hall: Lumber 4 Ingredients Correct?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

The Lumber 4 upgrade at the Workshop says “Add elder logs as a possible output from the workshop’s lumber synthesizer” and yet it requires 500 Hard Wood Planks.

Is this a bug or a misprint or something? Every node before this has required the corresponding resource that it is intended to output. This seems a bit out of sync and rather weird to me.

In the extreme, 500 people can contribute one plank each and get years of elder logs (as well as lower-tier, more valuable logs); that’s an amazing value.

On the other extreme, a 5-member friends-only guild donating 100 planks each would probably take a year or so amortize the cost of that particular upgrade. That’s sounds expensive, but it’s about the same amount of time to pay off buying an elder wood log node bought on the TP (192 gold to instantly purchase, it yields a max of 6 logs per day, i.e. about 12-13 silver, which would take four years to pay off alone or 9 months or so for the same group of friends, if they visited the home instance together).

tl;dr both the expenses and the value of the upgrade are shared guild-wide and it’s balanced accordingly.

I think you missed what he was asking. It asks to add elder logs and requires hard wood planks.

if they reset the masteries does that mean they are satisfied with the current released beta PvE zone content? Cause if we still need to test it, we need those masteries.

If so, then the rest of the beta testing should probably be other stuff that doesnt need the masteries.

I would imagine that by this point most things are in a semi-final state. They are probably just doing final stage testing right now.

67 Skill Points

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

You still get tomes of knowledge, and through those tomes, by getting to 80, you essentially unlock nearly everything. You can also trade your skill point scrolls in for tomes at 20:1. Ignoring any tomes you have, 1580 skill scrolls will get you from level 2 to 80 instantly, with 400 Hero Points to work with. And like I said in your other thread, do you really think they are going to say “guys, do not farm skill scrolls for 9+ months because the expansion will eventually be out some time after that and we don’t want you to be disappointed.” You never responded to that, probably because it’s a silly thing to think they would do. You have the scrolls now, and the expansion is still easily 2+ months out yet; you can still use them.

Actually the writs are the ones that can be traded at 20:1. The scrolls are being converted directly into spirit shards.

“•Writs of experience can only be used if you’re under level 80, and they can be traded in to Miyani for a tome of knowledge at a rate of 20 writs per tome.
•Any scrolls of knowledge that you have in your possession will automatically be converted to spirit shards, and any source that used to award scrolls of knowledge will now grant spirit shards.”

Fastest way to get some HoM points?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

There really isn’t a “fastest way” of doing it, there are many ways of achieving the points you are looking for. 18 points really isn’t that difficult to achieve. You can always use the HOM tool to help you plan out your goal. I would say the easiest way to get the points you need in my opinion would be to do the devotion tier by getting minis (8points right there). If you have enough platinum/ecto you can buy weapons from other players to dedicate (8 points there). Some of the titles are easier to get than others but in my opinion that’s the most time consuming way to go (18 max points from titles).

Use this tool to help you plan out what you want to do.

Gw2 needs more contents/guides/info

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

Many of beginner players have so much of lacking information about what to do in guild wars 2. They practically have no information on Fractals even when they reached level80 as it is to be explored by their own will or either known by other players who would either tell them or they had to ask for themselves to know that. One of my guildmates complained about this issue as if it is a big deal and it is! I had the same problem when I was a beginner here and this is why I’m sending a request of more content to be added to guide players. He stated that they can’t always refer it to google or it wouldn’t be fun anymore. Also, he highlighted on the endgame about what to do next in guild wars 2 except for repeating the same thing over and over again because it feels like the endgame lacks of something as he is lost of what to do after story excepts map completions and get good gears. Players have no motivation and it leads to them being offline to play some other game that would entertain them. He did say that everything else in gw2 is awesome but nonetheless, only the guides and info is lacking. Sending this hoping that the issue can be solved. As a guildmate, we can help but what if the players have no idea how to use chat tab, guild and go to places? It is not only him who’s been complaining, I’m sure there are more players who have the same problem because I’m seeing it for myself for the information and question flooded in my guild chat. Recruiting new players is fine but they have no idea that they can have 3 guilds, represent and that represent is something to the guild. I suggest further guides to beginners and not some chest in the middle of the push back rolling thing in their home town.

That is all

What to do about the Watchwork Mining Pick

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

The Watchwork Mining Pick is a problem. It offers extra functionality above and beyond that of any other unlimited gathering tool, making it the de-facto choice regardless of whether or not anyone actually likes the animation. Since no further unlimited gathering tools have been released with similar functionality, it’s clear that this is a failed experiment, yet the pick remains in the store, possibly because the picks provide a needed source of watchwork sprockets. It’s easy enough to say that it should be removed anyway, but what if the effect was decoupled from it instead?

The suggestion: Leave the watchwork mining pick alone, but create an item which grants the effect of producing watchwork sprockets at random when you mine. This could be a consumable produced at cost for non-watchwork mining pick owners, an unlimited-use/toggle item for watchwork mining pick owners, or both—literally any implementation would alleviate the problem, even if it’s less convenient. You’d still be able to just use the pick as usual, but at least there’d be other options.

C’mon, I’d love to be able to use a full set of golem tools or mad scientist tools without feeling like I’m leaving silver on the table every time.

Sorry, I don’t see it as a problem. The pick is still available so no one is getting an unfair advantage. If they want the effect buy it.

'Split Stack' Option instead of ALT + Drag

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

Im a little confused, GW2 already allows you to combine stacks up to 250 and once it hits that limit it starts a new stack. Im not really sure what youre saying here….sorry…

You can also destack already, just press (AND HOLD) alt and move the stack to another slot and it will ask you how many to put in the new slot (defaults to 1/2 of the original stack).

Thank you for the head’s up, yet that does not seem to work for everything that is accumulative, for example, Salvage Kits, nor can you combine Salvage Kits with other Kits. That is just one example of what I am talking about, and who knows for what other kinds of stacked items the functions you just explained doesn’t work for.

Very true, some items cannot be combined into stacks. Im not sure why it was done this way though, seems a little odd to me also.

Vanilla GW2 is Dead when HoT releases:

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

steveway.3167

Sorry OP but you post seems a little like “the sky is falling”. Season 2 of the living story is instanced soits safe to assume that future stories will follow this trend. That doesn’t mean they can happen in preexpansion maps, just you cant access them unless you have bought the expansion. It doen’t mean other things like special events/holidays will stop or even nothing new will be added into the old areas. Lions arch can still be rebuilt, and things can still change you just won’t be able to participate in the instanced living story content unless you pay for the expansion. Its basically like people who missed the 2 week window for the LS for season 2 can participate in drytop or silverwastes just not do the story instances. I don’t see this changing much.

I wanted the armor skin so i bought a second deluxe upgrade during the sale.
Compared to the first, i got only a Heroic Chest, no PvP Rank Points, no influence boost, no second Rytlock. Although getting a second Rytlock is now pointless, i could use the influence and the rank poins. Shall i contact support, or rather write a bug report?

I would suggest contacting support. This isn’t a bug because the items you failed to recieve are once per account. Since you recieved them once already you won’t get them again. Support may give you a refund.

expansion on January at pax enjoy all i know we have to wait 23 days from now

link please.

Here you go.

There’s not much to it. Basically, there’s a panel at PAX South where they will be talking about a new paradigm for how an MMO can expand its universe.

So it’s actually an announcement that an expansion is emphatically not imminent, but it’s not totally confirmed yet that the announcement won’t be a paid box or digital download including a new continent, new professions, new races etc.

I have a feeling they are going to discuss ways they are planning to expand the living world. Maybe expansion like content such as races, new professions they discussed previously. I doubt that means a boxed expansion though, or else why call it " a new paradigm for how an MMO can expand its universe" after all a traditional boxed expansion wouldn’t be a new groundbreaking idea.

Ascended crafting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

From what I understand, Anet is wanting to focus on horzontal progression over vertical progression. Vertical progression is the traditional gear grind. I suspect we will get the ability to craft ascended trinkets/food in addition to legendary armor/trinkets/food, but I doubt we will ever see a class above ascended other than legendary. I think what we have is it.

As far as my advice, unless you really want the skin and the ability to change stats on the fly legendary really has nothing to offer that ascended doesn’t and ascended is cheaper to make. Honestly though most people don’t even need ascended unless you are doing fractals. Its not neccessary for gameplay or endgame content. If you are going to though my advice is ascended unless you just really want the legendary skin. The stats are the same either way.

1. Please allow catagories for minis in the wardrobe. I would like to see which ones i am missing from each set, so I can work on my set completion. Before they were added to the wardrobe, they were broken down into the different catagories like series 1,2,3,special etc. I would like to also add the catagories for halloween, wintersday, and such to help make finding and selecting minis easier.

2. Please add items like blade shards to the materials tab, and geodes/bandit crests to the wallet. This would be a huge help to inventory management.

Time required to craft certain armors.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

For celestial you will need to farm the charged quartz crystal that Anet in all their infinite wisdom decided to limit by once per day… And hey, guess how many you need to craft a single insignia?

Freaking 5!
So 30 days of absolute nothing while you get the charged quartz for your armor. And that’s just the armor.

If you decide to craft the trinkets as well. Thats 25 days of waiting again, since you will want 5 of them.

And you know what’s even worst? If you have the gold, its faster to craft the ascended version rather than the exotic! How exactly do we reach a point where its “easier” to craft a better version of an armor set?

For sinister you can buy one of the components that require the charged quartz, so people can profit of that, and those that dont want to wait 2 whole months, can craft their stuff. Why isn’t the same applied for celestial?

And I just went to check on sentinel. I need 10 guild commendations just to buy a single insignia, so we are talking about 60 guild commendations just for a set of armor, excluding trinkets and weapons.

And the best part is that guild commendations are limited by week, not even day. So it’s again another 2 to 3 months before you can have the set of gear of your choice.

Now, I understand that an MMO needs time sinks, I perfectly understand that, what is driving me mad is, WHY would I waste 2-3 months with that?

If Im gonna spend 2-3 months to craft it, I will haave to spend those days with another stat set, with so much time you will adapt to it, learn it, play it well. Hell, you could even go Zerker and play the meta that everyone loves/hate.

And since I touched “meta”, its like Anet is forcing players away from any other stat, and just making more clear that its easier to stick with the meta.

They are expensive but last time i checked sentinel were availiable on the TP also.

So let me get this straight.. I have to wait 28 days to get some laurels?

I been doing every 5 days.. buying ascended recipe, and making a peice.. now I gotta wait 28 days? O_O

No, if you look at the picture, you get laurels on login 2,7,9,16,21,23 then 28. How many though, is unknown.

I don’t see where you seen the laurels in either of these pictures. All I see is a moon phase, and treasure boxes. Where did you get your info? .. Maybe circle something I’m not seeing?

If you look at the icons on the Daily Log-in Bags, you will see Laurels on the second bag of each row, and the seventh bag of rows 1 and 3. You can, I believe, also choose more Laurels from the very last reward container (Number 28).

Is that the laurel symbol on the first bag of every row too? It looks like a small one to me.

An idea for legendary armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: steveway.3167

steveway.3167

Wait, so you want to introduce a reputation grind. Which I never had a problem with in other games, but this would make this game just like every other game. Grind rep for better stuff.

Why do people think progression is farming for tons of gold and materials? That is the worst of all gates possible. It punishes new players, as they will take forever to get the gold and the materials. It punishes the casuals, this game was made for. If the illusion of progression is getting so far out of reach – the stick the carrot is on sooo long that you can no longer see the carrot – people will stop playing this game.

We do not need less players, or scare off the new ones (they even created the NPE for them), so take all those ideas and put them where no light will ever shine.

I understand that people fear the idea of challenge, especially in a ultra-casual game like GW2. But at least let the players feel like they progress with their goals while playing the game, and not by taking over the job of a bot.

The last thing this game needs is another hardcore grind in a game made for casuals.

First, Lets keep everything civil and not resort to rude remarks like “take all those ideas and put them where no light will ever shine.” It was an idea to make it more difficult to achieve if neccessary. My idea was for the Legendary armor to be tied to the orders and a scavenger hunt to get the items to purchase from a vendor.

Second, legendary anything is something to work for. I am a casual player. I don’t get involved in the hardcore grind and find a lot of grind tedious. There do need to be some long term goals however that people can work towards.

Third, GW1 had a faction system so its not like it would be anything new to the universe. (Kurzik/Luxon/sunspear to name a few. Which coincidentally had unique high level armor availiable at higher ranks.) Im not suggesting a ridiculously high rank,
It could be something like the PVP reward track for use in PVE the end prize would be an item that would unlock the NPC.

Let’s keep it constructive but I would be open to other peoples ideas.
