Ice spike blast is nice, rarely stay in water to wait for the cooldown anyway.
Static being tiny is trash, although static was already pretty worthless against anything but the most unorganized pug zergs.
Running 20-30 guards fixed this quick, time to 100% engie raid tonight.
Coverage is king but uniblob vs multiple groups with equal numbers on the map and the uniblob will get wrecked (in ppt). Generally servers who uniblob as a matter of practice will also wipe to much less than a full queue.
You don’t gain much skill pressing 1 all day.
I question why people would put this much thought into something for awful rewards.
why get a rank 10 or rank 19 server more rewards than rank 2 or rank 5 server?
seriously – why should servers care than to be rank 5 or 6 when can lose and fight easier server than in league 2 and get position 1 rewards for free?
While I agree the rewards system is terrible the incentive not to be in silver/bronze is because the fights are awful in those leagues.
It makes no real difference in gameplay since everyone can just ferry supply out of EOTM if they want to. This is a bad mechanic though.
If you enjoy pressing 1 I would highly recommend it.
Any ‘fabulous rewards’ they give out will worth less than the 3600 gems it would cost to transfer and move back.
Of course, this won’t stop people from doing it, and that’s what Anet is counting on.
I was hoping for a season 2 similar to season 1 where we could just barely make it into gold league and have carefree fights for 7 weeks without caring about ppt.
Then Anet does this.
1.) Get in a party.
2.) Kill blobs.
2a.) If there are no blobs, transfer to a better server.
3.) Salvage and sell.
For servers that don’t have active pubmanders EOTM is going to steal a lot of people.
It will also steal ‘fight seeking’ guilds, while the map architecture isn’t all that great for fights, the population certainly is.
Without an aoe cap packed blobs of any size would get steam rolled by max range aoe kiters.
As a zerker ele, sounds like a good idea!
Guardian hands down with warrior as a close 2nd. Guardian is my class of choice for playing while impaired.
You can command successfully with any class, but it’s a whole lot easier when you have a pile of survival tools AND utility.
2000 badges and 2000 bloodstone dust. Sounds like a deal to me.
That I got so hyped up before release, then quit within a month due to disappointment.
That I waited a year to start playing again and realized the game is somewhat fun.
As a zerker ele I agree that circles wouldn’t be terrible. It may suck for your heavies to go down to eating 3-4 strikes, but with 900 toughness I get nearly oneshot by crits from another zerker ele sharknadoing.
10k badges is an awful lot, and people who command have a lot better things to do with their badges.
If you want to put an artificial bottleneck on it just make it a certain required rank, with account bound wxp coming soon™ it should no longer be an issue for people who want to command on alts.
The whole server pop for cost is among the dumbest things in the game since you can guest everywhere except wvw. Pretty clear who is to blame for the current moneygrubbing.
I don’t plan to go back in until retal/confusion are changed from their pve values to wvw values.
Some overflows suck, the good news is you can either join another random one or get taxied into your buddy’s.
It doesn’t seem very auto run friendly. Denied for karmatraining.
I saw a grenade engineer one shot himself on a zerg with the pve strength retaliation. I would say it wasn’t made for him.
No matter how bad it is I think there will be a lot of wvwers while the living world stuff is going on.
After that I suspect it will be a ghost map, but maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.
I think you would all be happier if you played for fights instead of a phony metric.
The trouble is, you have to play for the phony metric to keep the good fights. Less applicable to T1/Solid T2, but if you happen to fall just outside of gold league your fights are going to suck for however long the leagues last.
It’s sad to see a bunch of people who hate ppting ppting just to keep the game fun.
If you find yourself falling off the world frequently, you may want to slot a stability skill.
Isn’t playing a necro punishment enough?
I’ve had 1 ascended ring in 900+ rank boxes
Other than the zoomhacking / using creative windowed mode resolutions / eyefinity I haven’t seen that many people obviously cheating.
Most of the blatant ones have been uplevels, so I assume Anet is actually doing something about it.
I will pay 2000g for a potato shaped tag.
I think people are tired of defending stuff that just gets flipped in the off hours.
The only things people still show up in mass for for are karma train megazorgs and (effective) zergbusting groups.
I am also not playing my zerker ele because of the patch that is coming in 3 months.
Current Meta zerg:
The biggest issue with the hammertrain meta is once the driver (or maybe alt driver) is defeated the fight is effectively over against all but the best guild groups.
Guardian
Warrior
Mesmer (veil bot)
Ele (staff support)
Necro
No thieves/rangers/engineers allowed
Current anti-meta zerg:
Generally the anti-meta zerg is much less reliant on a single driver since the primary focus of the group is to sidestep the hammer train dropping soft cc and dps until they gas out of stability then hard CC and drop big nukes.
5-7 Ele (staff dps)
1 per group Guardian (empower/cleanse/stab bot), not really needed except against extremely well coordinated groups that can keep their own stab up a long time.
1-2 Thieves (venomshare and shortbow blast bot)
2-3 Necros (boom removal, dps)
Warrior (banner bot), not needed against bad groups. Could run a backline zerker longbow to fit in, but generally much less effective than the other very mobile ranged dps
Mesmers (veils and nulls)
Nade engineers could be ok, but facing the retal that organized groups bring really limits them.
Rangers not required
Current anti anti-meta zerg
Ranged condi builds of all types
D/D thieves
Mesmers for pulls and nulls
Solo/small group roam (outnumbered against bad, equal numbers against good players)
Mesmer
Thief
Engineer
Ranger
Havoc (camp flipping, yakslapping)
Thief
Everyone else can do this as well, but they are way behind thieves.
Whenever accountbound WXP hits I’m pretty much “done” in terms of needed points.
I’d imagine participation in karma training will take a major hit when the combined wxp goes live. I will certainly not be running in zergs when all my chars have 900+ points to spend.
Sentry circles will stop way more zergs cold than that jump.
Solo zerker ele isn’t that great, especially pug groups. Coordinated zerker eles are amazing for zergbusting though. You don’t lose out on a whole lot running an ele with a staff support build and pvt gear (4k meteor showers vs 10k), so you may want to try that out first. It’s a whole lot easier to survive. If you aren’t running with decent people it’s really not going to make a huge difference, nothing is more frustrating than solo downing 7-10 people just to see them all rally or get rezed.
When you start playing the same matchups every week being a zerker ele with 15k hp with stacks starts to become a bit of a drag when people start recognizing you.
Playing a zerker ele would be a bummer while sieging but the improvement in zergbusting would offset it plenty for me.
Takes time to write, test and roll out code.
Yeah, but Anet only does 2 of those things.
I have no issues with retaliation as a zele (and even less running a pvt staff support build), I run omnom compote and swap to sigil of restoration after I get my stacks. It certainly sucks as a grenade or flamethrower engineer though. Until the hammer meta wears off there will be little shortage of retal even in the most unorganized zergs.
Every time I’ve been in mumble with someone that ‘accidentally’ glitches get in everyone tells them to hurry up and get out. Whether it’s a hack or just a wall glitch it’s still a pretty crappy thing to do.
Casual zerg blobs get absolutely wrecked by aoe. Even some semi-decent, mostly guild groups (especially ones running the hammer meta and blindly stacking on the driver) get wrecked by aoe groups that know how to play. Yes, if you are the lone guy dropping heavy aoe on a zerg you are going to have a bad time.
Hammertrains get absolutely wrecked by an outnumbered ranged aoe comp, heavy zeles/zecro with a few guardians and venomshare thief. You kite around the outside (unstacked) with reasonable pressure. When their stab runs out they are stacked in a static field and you kill everyone in seconds with 12k meteor showers.
This doesn’t work very well in a 3 way when you can only spam 1 though, so if that’s how you like to play I suggest continuing to complain. It is also hard countered by several other comps (although they are much more rare than than hammer meta)

The game must really be suffering if they are finally giving in on this. Good change though.
Season 1 made me quit WvW after about 3 weeks. If they do another season in a similar fashion I doubt I will come back until the new zone is in the game.
Warrior is best for commanding pugs because you can get away when they get steamrolled with no stab. Guardian is better for a semi organized group because it add more to the team. Engineer is just… no, even with their new shiny and reliable stability still no.
If you listen to the forums everyone on Mags never dies and get hundreds of kills per hour.
I guess I must be being drugged and hypnotized because they keep falling and my bags keep filling.
There are plenty of easy kills on mag, just like any other server. I was a pug in the VR led aoe train on mag bl on reset night, I died twice while raking in 800+ kills.
TC pve/achievement seekers did a better job countering last week, maybe you should get notes from them.
1. Maguuma / Gold League
2. WvW
3. Many more bags than normal, I guess it’s fun. Killing people who think they are great at the game because they are stuck to a commander’s kitten while spamming 1 in a queued zerg feels pretty good. It sucks that the score ends up to lopsided due to huge differentials in coverage. Even if we were to tryhard (and it certainly feels like tryharding during NA prime at the moment, although Maguumans will never admit it) everything gets flipped overnight. The whole idea of arbitrarily setting servers into leagues without regard to their population/coverage is possibly one of the dumbest ideas Anet has had to date. I would assume that the rewards will be junk, otherwise it will be the dumbest thing Anet has never done.
2 greens and a yak finisher doesn’t sound like something worth getting worked up about. Certainly not worth spending ingame or rl money on transferring, although it would be interesting to see how many people did.
1.) find competent players
2.) ask them to bring a zele, zecromancer, or mesmer with null field
3.) locate blob
4.) stand to one side side as blob charges, strip boons and aoe
5.) collect bags
You can skip bringing the mesmers if it isn’t a semi organized blob.
Actually your day and evening could keep you in it. FA lost a lot of their stuff earlier to CD. So, I would assume that would happen tomorrow. Your day crew and early evening crew could make all the difference tomorrow.
CD taking stuff hurts us even more than FA, and CD has a reasonably strong Oceanic. There is really no incentive for our Oceanics to show up again tonight, they are going to be absolutely obliterated in gold without additional timeslot support transferring in.
I think something that people on Maguuma need to realize is that as long as anet doesn’t see how dumb leagues are, we’re either going to be in gold this league or next. Getting in this time probably makes us stronger, getting into silver will probably make us into the next SBI (as long as the ratings aren’t too close for bandwagoners to jump on before the cutoff).
