When whilst playing is there no option to have my Character name and any titles showing ?

I have always run it either under Lion on another startup drive that I use, or I would run it under Bootcamp as it has NEVER run under Snow Leopard.

Last week I was looking at the Lion drive via Snow Leopard and just thought maybe just maybe it may have been fixed and it now works. I dragged GW2 over to my Snow Leopard drive and it ran straight away under Snow Leopard no problems at all. Next time I tried it was back to NOT working again, how, why this worked that once I have no idea because everytime I have tried since, nothing.

Not played for quite sometime and was doing something today that caused me to see that the Guild Wars client should now run in Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

So I moved the client from my drive with the Lion partition onto my Snow Leopard drive and yes it now runs.

When did this happen ?

No more drive swapping if I want to play, yea

EDIT: It stopped working, and no matter what I do it just will not start in Snow Leopard.

I want to open a ticket to change my overall account mail address but when I click on the Support link I get an untrusted connection warning and that somebody could be mimicking the page I want to use.

I stopped playing months ago when I realised the best they are going to give us is a wrapped version which will always be Beta.

No Mac native version I do not play anymore.

I wish I had never spent my money on this game.

Thank you very much, I do not know what fixed it, my ISP are aware of my online games issues now and because it is a new connection they want to give it a few days to settle down, if things ares still the same they are going to investigate my issues.

Its letting me log in now, but…….

The client is still still slow to show the log in area in the left and after selecting PLAY the game is slow to set itself up.

Is this cable with a static ip address or dsl that could switch when it aquires a new lease from the isp? Did you tell it to save the new ip address (from the email link)? Also, does the news feed load on the left side (while the play button is grey)?

If it’s greyed out, it means you aren’t authenticated typically. This will happen constantly (or more often) if your ISP uses dynamic ip address for end users. Also, I’ve noted a recent problem with receiving my authentication emails, they are taking up to 55 mins to get in my mailbox.

I have a static IP address, the news feed is not running, I did when I first tried to login get the authentication mail which i replied to straight away by following the given link where it then told me my machine was OK and I ticked the box to remember it, this was several hours ago now.

Hope somebody can help with this issue.

I have just changed ISP and bought a nice new Netgear DGN2200 router/modem.

Since this my internet all works fine except for I now cannot connect to GW2, well I get the client up which is slow to load, once it has loaded the play button the bottom right corner is ghosted and I cannot play.

It did a game update and that went OK.
I did receive an email asking if it was me trying to login and would I OK the machine, which I did.
Any ideas anybody ?

Explorer achievement and map completions are two different things. You get the Explorer achievement for ‘discovering’ all of the areas which are named in white on the maps. Map completion is achieved through the discovery of all poi’s, way points, skill points and hearts.

So it is possible to have not discovered an area named in white – try checking your maps against this list.

Edit: One of the common ones missed for the Krytan explorer is the 2nd discocvery of the Order of Whispers headquarters in Bloodtide Coast, triggered when you enter the headquarters via the Asura gate from Fort Trinity in the Straits of Devastation.

I Noticed that for the Krytan Explorer Achievement I have 174/175 yet I have 100% for all required areas.

How come ?

The Mac wrapper works OK for me only with a few minor issues but I believe for all the time spent from beginning to now on this Cider wrapper a native Mac client is the way to go, it would attract loads of Mac users into the game as well.

I used to do it in Wow but have forgotten.

Just go through your story doing all the hearts and gathering you can on route.

So used to running around solo I forgot about WvW etc.

OK, I have covered all the areas on the Map and when I roll the mouse pointer over the names it tells me all 100% complete and I cannot find or see anyother areas to go too, well except the dungeons.

I must have missed some places because it tells me I have covered 92% of the map with….
Way Points still find = 25
Points of Interest = 76
Vistas = 40

What have missed where do I go, I ask because I have searched the map from east to west, north to South and can find nowhere new ???

OK, I got my ranger to level 80 I have completed my story, I nearly have all the map complete.

So, what to do once the last 15% of the map is done ?

I really cannot see myself dragging another character through the map and doing another personal story with exactly the same ending.

I use a Razer DeathAdder mouse, functions all OK.

You are aware that your 2 yr old Mac Book pro is not upto running the Mac Client which actually is NOT a native client, it is a Cider wrapper so it more grunt for that than just a 2 yr old Mac Book pro.

Your right Bootcamp is the way to go as there is as I said NO native Mac Client, thing is it sure does need one.

I run it fine, but here is the difference here are my specs.

Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon
OS X 10.8.2
6GB Mem
XFX Radeon HD 6870, HD-687A-ZDFC

I also run it under Bootcamp where yes it has the edge but then the game is written to run under WIndows.

BM GS tank. I rolled it from lvl 11 onward to 80. Rarely die. [edit] most of my deaths were jumping from too high. Soloed just about all the [group] content, soloed all but two champs.

key skills to pick up are healing spring, and signet of the wild. The regen will keep your buffed pet alive much longer and can easily tank 5+ enemies at a go.

Its stupid the stuff I’ve been able to get away with using this.

Tank bit I get but what does BM GS mean ?

I finally did it after all the hassle of trying to find a group to run it with, it turned out to be a 2 hour grind, I fell from an airship once, and fell quite a long way down, LOL, then could’nt see a waypoint to get get myself back, after zooming in and out the map I found one though. Rewards for level 80s doing the run a not good at all, best thing I got was a bow for my ranger trading my token.

There is no way to remove or reduce the risen because there will always be new players that haven’t done the story yet and you know that very well! For continuation of the story, I would like to see Trehearne die because he is annoying as hell and useless to the story (he already fulfilled the purpose of his life so please rid us of him and introduce new interesting characters). There is no way to remove or reduce the risen because there will always be new players that haven’t done the story yet and you know that very well!
I know, I was being a bit pedantic with this.

I have a lvl 80 human ranger with whom I have completed my personal story and done nearly 60% of the world map.

I was thinking maybe there is a better solo build.

My build at the moment.

Longbow (main weapon)
Torch & Axe other, I find this choice good for dealing with groups.

Heal Skill – Healing Spring
Utility Skills – Signet of Stone, Signet of the Hunt and Signet of the Wild.

Elite Skill
Rampage as One.

Traits
Marksmanship 30 points – Signet mastery, Beastmaster’s Might, Signet of the Beastmaster.

Wilderness Survival 30 points – Expertise Training, Hide in Plain Sight and Bark Skin

Rest of points in Beastmastery – Speed Training.

Could anything be changed to better this as a solo build ?

Continuing the personal story, LOL.

I have now been waiting over a week for the gates of Arah to be open, even then I doubt I will find people who wish to run the dungeon in story mode, nobody wants to do it anymore.

Big mistake making the last part of the story reliant on others, at that point it becomes not personal. I keep looking though every time I am on to see if the gates are open, or if the events leading up to the gates opening going on but they never ever are

End of Story Victory or Death ?

I have now been waiting since about this time last week for either the run up events or the pact to be in control so the gates will be open, neither has happened, this has to be bugged and to get through testing quite a big one I would think.

I now feel I bought a product NOT fit for purpose and I am stuck with it, people are complaining about this over on the Personal Story thread and as yet nobody from ArenaNet has replied.

I have been waiting a little over a week now, and I check every day, lead up events happened only once, found gates open after these events once, then spent hours trying to get a group together with no luck at all, I said this before, all the people who where at this point in the game have moved on to fractals now, people who have already run Arah in story mode do not want to do it again as they gain nothing from it, then there are the rewards which from what I have are all low level greens that have nothing to do with your character.

People just seem not to want to do this last part, it also takes at least 2 hrs…….

Yep, I usually see people around LA or Cursed Shore looking for Arah Story Mode. You can always try to get in a nice guild where your guildies would love to help you out!

I know other people have the complete opposite opinion of me, but I personally found the final mission to be very satisfying and enjoyable, so I’d give it another go!

I tried again tonight, for another two to three hours trying to get a group for it, I give up, Trahearnes story line is a complete waste of time, well it sure was not my personnel story line.

Spent another 2 to 3 hrs tonight trying to get a group for this without success, oh, one person replied and I heard no more from them, people have moved on to Fractals and anybody coming along behind has next to no chance of getting a group for this

You cannot make a *personnel story line a group event it just does NOT work, players move through MMOs like a wave at the start of the game becoming available, and if you miss that wave your chances of getting another BIG wave which is what you need are pretty low.
In GW2 that wave at the moment has reached Fractals, and anybody needing a group before that has now next to no chance.

Oops, sorry, that should have been in *Trahearnes story line.

My story, well it started out as my story then rapidly became this Trahearnes story, then at the end everybodies story because of the Victory or Death grouping, said it before will say it again, killed the game for me, may return to to do map completion.

I have one lvl 80 character and I just did arah story with 2 of my friends. True we were lucky that arah gates were open (we actually fought to keep them open before entering.). Still we had to recruit 2 more but we got there. I think it is not entirely bad idea. All of the other dungeon stories lead up to destiny’s edge being there and your personal story leads you there. Zhaitan is quite big enemy (generally speaking) that I would not go agains it soloing… Besides you could not make so epic (in my opinion) scenes work without other players to help you. A battle of that magnitude demands more players than 1. That is my opinion anyway.

The point to the complaining is in the fact that I and more than like all the other complaining are solo players its what we do, its what we like to do play solo. If I had known that at the end of the story line I would be forced group to complete it. I would NOT have wasted all my time playing through the thing, and if I had known before buying I sure would not have bought the game in the first place.

I spent at least 2 hours the other night trying to find people to play this part of my storyline, the people who help gain nothing, also if your not first in you do NOT see the end of your story cut scenes and it does NOT get listed in your story, so that means you would have to run it again being first in, if you made that mistake.

Oh and after trying for 2 hours to get help the other night I gave up, not played the game since.

One last thing you can enter Victory or Death solo and on entry you get 5 or 6 NPCs that join you, but they are useless, why put them there to team up with you if they are useless ?

While implementation of this quest might not be that well, I strongly recommend doing the Arah story. It is a very enjoyable dungeon with interesting mechanics. The killing of Zaithan isn’t too challenging (to say the least) but on the other hand, sit back and enjoy completing the story. It is a moment to cherish and I agree to the way they implemented it.

All they need to do is give the NPCs that group with you when you enter solo a little more grunt.

I recently found out the last mission was in a dungeon and needed a group. That basically killed my interest in completing the story line. I just don’t get why you could solo the whole thing, but the last mission. Why couldn’t we have npcs take the place of players for the last mission?

Once in the dungeon in story mode solo you do get a group of NPCs but they are complete rubbish.

Seems you can enter the dungeon if when you log in and the pact are in control of that area at the top of the stairs, I am lvl 80 so I did manage to get up there by doing a death or glory run dodging and weaving past the undead until I was dead least that way I did mange to get the Waypoint at the top.

So it seems that you can actually get into the dungeon in story mode without doing all the events before. I got in as I posted elswhere and you get some NPCs join you, about 5 or 6 of them, I then approached the first five mobs in the first task in there and promptly got my backside kicked all over the place, I did manage to kill a couple by drawing them away from the others only to find on moving forward they had re spawned. So I would think all they need to do is tweak this approach and you could run it solo with some effort.

Must agree that forced grouping takes away the solo aspect of the storyline, and as I said in another thread has ruined the game for me and I have at the moment no sense of wanting to play.

I see lots of people are complaining about this but as yet no response from ArenaNet

What with paying for this game and buying the book, then buying some gems I have thrown quite a chunk of cash at this game, but will be throwing no more unless things get sorted out.

OK, so I have read here all about this end quest, I was going to throw in the towel and go play something else.

Nope I thought after spending over £50 for this game with all its great solo content I will give it one more go.

Not sure exactly what I need to do to enter this dungeon with a group in story mode.

I got there and the area was in the hands of the pact so I got to the dungeon entrance where some other players where hanging around and was invited into a group, but on entering the dungeon it was not in story mode. So after getting rapidly killed in there I came back out to the entrance and re entered the dungeon which stated it was story mode. Once in there I discovered a group of NPCs that teamed up with me, not that they were any help, I got my backside kicked all the place by the first 5 mobs encountered. So I came out and hung around the nearest little town opposite the steps waiting for some players to come or an event to start or anything. All in all I must have spent 2 1/2 hours entering the dungeon with a group that turned out not be in story mode, then hanging around the town waiting for something to happen.

When no events happened and nobody came by I logged out.

Why should I have to hang around for ages just in case I can find 4 or 5 people who I do not know only to drag them through a dungeon for 3 or 4 hours that gains them nothing so I can finish my story line, bad very bad thinking this, and has ruined the game for me

SInce I discovered this about the end of my story line and that it only counts for the first player into the dungeon I really do not want to play anymore, what a huge let down, but then nearly every MMO I have played has turned into a let down.

why do all MMO writers have this assumption that eveybody who plays wants to play certain areas with other people, it is what turned me away from WoW now it has turned me away from this.

I can’t add to the comments above except to say I agree. The personal story should be something that you CAN complete on your own. I can’t commit to playing a 3-5 hour stint due to health constraints, so I therefore can never complete this portion of the game? At least I found out before I tried to fight my way all the way down with an unrealistic expectation.

What about resurrecting an old tool from GWs and have heroes available for this quest only – or even a predetermined set of NPCs (ones that preferably actually help)?

This is a huge disappointment.

Yup me to, very disappointed, I play solo, I like playing solo, then I have to group up to complete MY story.

Then I have read that it is bugged, so if you do get in the place by grouping only the first person who enters the dungeon gets to see all the end cut scenes, and the rewards for completion I also read are pretty poor, lots of green items and maybe a blue, and no update to your story line details.

Apple computers being not truly designed for gaming do get stressed under extreme gaming conditions.

There are two third party fan control programs out there, they are FanControl and smcFanControl, I use FanControl on my MacPro sure helps to cool it down.
