Transfusion heals for 6k to everyone in your group every 34 seconds above 50% health and around 8k below 50% health.

Shroud is used for support, not damage. You will be popping in and out of shroud (on a 7 sec CD) whenever you need a heal. Life from death will heal 2k when you leave shroud effectively making it a 2k group heal on a 7 sec CD.

Rune of mercy is a personal preference. Tested with the trait I can revive someone in 3 seconds from 25% health. A long with the usual teleporting downed players.

Poison cloud is really good now that it stops projectiles. In the condition build you will also have a high fury up time, making up for the lack of crit chance.

The damage is pretty decent. It’s not full zerker or assassins but it’s still high and you get amazing support for the little trade off.

It’s literally impossible to keep weakness up on a boss by yourself 100% of the time. Now if your 4 other party members also have a constant supply of weakness sure maybe. But by yourself no proffesion is able to do this.

This trait is giving near 100% up time on chaos armor AND 12 sec CD CHAOS STORMS.

Again, no it’s not. 12.7s chaos storm cooldown was possible with the 5% trait. Now, the absolute minimum is 20.5s. You can do the math yourself if you want…

Edit: They also nerfed healing prism into the ground. You seem to be a little behind the times with this build, several things have gotten nerfed.

Edit 2: Malicious sorcery is also broken. It doesn’t increase attack speed at all, so it’s useless for you.

I wasn’t literally referring to getting it down to 12 seconds. I meant by the time you switch to scepter the CD will be at or around 12 seconds and by the time you switch back it’s ready.

Healing prism on it’s own is terrible. Combined with other sources of healing? Fantastic. You can’t have decent healing from one source, you need several. Over time it’s great combined with sigils, regen and mantra charging.

As for sorcery I can swap it for either ineptitude for more confusion and blinds or Fragmentation for over all better shatters until it’s fixed.

Also this build just shuts down conditions in PvE which has continually been a threat or annoying lately.

I’ll explain my thought process a bit more since I was a bit too eager about getting the build out rather than writing a detailed post.

I’m always a healer in other MMOs now what I was doing here was not looking for a healer role but a support role. Now full support is never needed, not in this current game design but a hybrid of sorts would be viable especially in chaotic situations.

When first looking for a support style build for my main (which is mesmer) I first looked at just boon sharing in general but when experimenting with builds I felt a disconnect between traits. Eventually I ended up trying temportal enchanter and chaotic dampening a long with combo field chaos armors.

And it worked. I got near 100% chaos armor with just 2 leap finishers. After that I needed to decide what to do next. A phantasm build wouldn’t work, so I opted for shatter. Which I automatically went to chaos and illusions and everything melded together.

Malicious sorcery meant high up time on clones via scepter auto attack which activates compounding power and illusionary defense for more damage and defense. Shattering gives stability and might and with the condition changes and confusion changes I could drop crit damage for a different source of damage – conditions.

The toughest line to pick was Inspiration and ended up going more support with restorative mantras, restorative illusions and healing prism. Healing mantra has only a 10 sec CD making optimal use of menders purity (10 sec cd aoe cleanse) and a additional heal from charging it AND healing allies was a done deal, since I was going shatter restorative illusions was a done deal which also triggers healing prism which is more healing combined with sigil of water and renewal that’s even more healing. (I also debated on the might on crit and swap sigils but opted out because in a group setting most likely you will hit the cap from your other party members)

Bountiful giving stability and more boons and chaotic dampening which is the heavy icing on the cake. This trait is giving near 100% up time on chaos armor AND 12 sec CD CHAOS STORMS (by the time you switch back to staff it’s up and ready for you). Which is only because of weapon swap (I can get it lower). Chaos storm offers huge support and having that ready whenever you swap back to staff is incredible.

I think the best trait though in this build is chaotic persistence. You will have tons of boons on you (you can get every boon by yourself but only for a brief moment) which increases both boon duration and cond duration increases your damage and support. Combined with fried golden dumplings the up time on this trait is even higher.

Everything just melded together and It satisfy my support needs but you can go full berserker if you want ( just drop scepter for sword) but it’s just counter to my thought process of making the build in the first place.

Which begs the question… Why not run zerk? Seems like it could work.

I actually just adressed that. You can swap it if you want. Personally I just like more support and defenses (which is why I pick the healing sigils over the might sigils)

If healing power/cond/power existed it would be replacing vitality.

That’s correct. You’re running a build that’s absolutely awful at doing damage, and that’s a huge no-no for PvE. There’s simply no reason to run a low damage build when you could run a high damage build that does everything a low damage build could ever possibly do.

First off it’s not a low damage build. 60% crit chance, 1200 condition damage and around 2100 power. The only thing it lacks is Crit damage.

Second off I linked a sword focus variant which you can switch for full zerker at the cost of support. Personally for me I’d rather run a bit of support than straight damage.

Straight damage is the current META because things die faster but it’s not required. Optimal =/= Required.

Not sure about PvE but I was using a glamour based dueling build with Radiance runes pre-6/23 patch. Can confirm that the duration bonus works with chaos armor. You’ll see a lot more utility and synergy for large-scale WvW applications though.

In the PvE build you’ll be bringing additional support via boon sharing and some healing as well as the support glamours do and if someone blast finishers it they will also get chaos armor. At the cost of 80% crit chance and all your crit damage but you gain condition damage to off set the loss of crit damage.

When those runes were released, I did a test with ele on-aura traits to see if chaos armor procced them when they blasted/leaped through a field. It didn’t. Have you actually gotten the runes and tested this theory?

Day after day I see a lack of PvE builds. Mesmers in PvE lack some diversity and are recently outclassed by guardians but I’ve come up with a fun build for PvE. There are 2 variants in the works too (one for PvP and another weapon alternative)

Unknown to most people Chaos armor is actually an aura. Thus getting the bonus of rune of the radiance which increases chaos armor duration by 33% which is 1 sec for both leap finishers and blast. Which gives an extra “pulse” for chaotic dampening trait, the boon portion and condition portion of the armor.

The weapons are Staff with Scepter/offhand sword. With this you have 2 leap finishers! Yes 2. Again Iswordsman is a leap finisher itself. When summoned it will also give you chaos armor.

The goal is to rotate between Glamours and your leap finishers. If done correctly you should have almost near 100% up time on chaos armor. Yup 100% thanks to the trait Chaotic dampening. Now this was nerfed and I discovered why. Because the CDR was insane when stacking with glamours but even with the nerf you can still get a high up time on Chaos armor. In addition because of the high up time on chaos armor you will get 10-12 sec CD on chaos storm.

The opening is pretty simple and then from there you use your judgement on what to use next.

Chaos storm – leap – filler – Chaos armor (on experation) – Leap – swap – Iswordsman at the same time use Feedback and make sure you are standing in it – filler – filler – swap – Chaos storm (or glamour) – leap and you take it from there. Between 3 glamours, chaotic dampening and your leap finishers you should have almost 100% up time on chaos armor. Runes of radiance further increase the duration by 1 sec (which will give you an extra pulse) and add a light aura to the mix for yourself.

This is a hybrid build. It’s more heavily focused on support rather than pure damage. For sigils it’s a toss up between the might sigils and healing sigils. Personally I take both healing sigils (heal on hit and swap) because in a group setting you won’t personally need to bring more than 10 stacks of might before hitting the cap from everyone elses might.

What you bring:

Glamours
Resistance boon
Super speed
Quickness
Slow
10-12 sec CDs on chaos storm
Near perma Chaos armor
9-12 stacks of might (more depending on your sigils)
Boon sharing (access to every boon in the game)
Stability
Group healing
22k health
INSANE condition crushing (from resistance, null field and menders purity trait)
AoE distortion

Even though it’s support it still dishes some decent damage. With the condition changes and boss crit changes you should have no problems in the damage department.

Here is a MH sword/focus variant. It’s less safe with less might boons but brings reflect from focus and a shorter CD leap.

Wow, everyone I’m really touched to see a thread like this and I’m really glad to see everyone having so much fun with mesmer since the patch. We’ve all been working on these changes for many months and it’s a really weight off my chest to finally be able to play these changes on live.

I want to clarify though that a lot of the changes you see aren’t my work alone. While I was driving most of the mesmer changes and pushed some of the more… shall we say “extreme” examples coughmimiccough, many other significant changes (like Illusionary Persona becoming baseline) wouldn’t have happened without feedback and suggestions from other folks on the skills team like Roy and Karl as well as our dedicated team of testers.

Think you could get interrupt traits working in PvE next? Like if you do the act of interrupting on a target with defiance for example the traits that would require you to interrupt would activate but they boss wouldn’t be in interrupt stun.

I know this works for engineers and their knockback trait (quickness on knockback I believe)

Is what I’ve been thinking. I wanted more shatter and less phantasm. I’m debating between boon stripping and confusion on all shatters. Lyssa is pretty much needed for conditions.

Boon stripping is nice but a constant up keep on confusion can also put a dent on people.

Um. I am doing this new zone because it’s fun and the story because it is also fun and I actually like the story.

Achievement’s are irrelevant to me and I just did them on the side when the time arises.

The point if this game is to have fun. If you try and do some single minded thing like turn it into a grind (which you are doing) you won’t have fun. Enjoy the game, get the WoW mindset out of your head.

For ether feast I already showed the bonus healing for the extra illusions. I left it off my comparison at the bottom just for ease since the scaling isn’t 1:1 for that portion and the bonus healing is pretty awful.

You mathed wrong on ether feast. You have it as 1300 for the main heal and 130 more per illusion, when it’s 1000 for the main heal and 100 more per illusion for a total of 1300 with 3 illusions.

Nope. You get 300 healing power for going 30 in inspiration so it would have a base of 300.

Ah, if you’re counting the 30 points in inspiration, then ok. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense though, since any good PvE build will be a minimum of 20 points in, if not 25.

This is a grandmaster trait. So in order to even take it you need 30 points in inspiration which would give you a base of 300 HP. So if you take this trait you will have a minimum of 300 HP at all times – 1300 if you proc.

It is time to go into detail why this was the most Ill thought grandmaster trait Anet has ever made.

For those who don’t know what Disruptors Sustainment does it grants you 1000 HP for 5 seconds when you interrupt a foe.

Wow! That seems really good right? Well it’s not. First thing I am going to cover is the lack of skills to utilize healing power for mesmers. (Restorative Illusions will be ignored since it is a grandmaster trait competing with Disruptor) We have:

Restorative Mantras
Regeneration
MoR
Ether Feast
Mirror
Signet of the Ether

Now to list how badly all these scale with healing power. Also notice that 4 of these skills are purely selfish?

-Restorative Mantras: Heals 2600. With 1300 HP (healing power) it heals for 260 more
-Regen: Heals 130. With 1300 HP it heals for 162 more

These 2 are our only means of support healing. Pretty pitiful for a grandmaster trait isnt it? Now let’s look at our selfish healing.

-MoR: Heals 540 more per charge
-Ether Feast: Heals 1300 more main portion. 130 more per illusion.
-Mirror: Heals 780 more
-Signet of the Ether: On activate heal, heals 1105 more. The passive extra healing is just so horrible I am not even going to bother list it (it is that bad)

Now these seem like a much improvement right? Wrong. The key is their CDs. Ether feast takes the most advantage from this by having a 1:1 ratio with healing power. However if timed right you would only get 1,690 extra healing every 20 seconds not only is this an actual low amount added the the abyssal high amount Ether feast heals already but the trade off is a Grandmaster trait in the inspiration line – our worst trait line.

Now do I need to even cover restorative mantras and regeneration scaling with healing power? It is awful. Garbage. Terrible. Ignoring the fact that nobody takes restorative mantras the activation down time is horrible. Let’s face it nobody uses pain so the shortest CD would be recovery but you need to be taking damage in order to recharge this, next to that is cleansing on a 20 sec CD. So realistically you are only activating restorative mantra every 20 seconds if you spam cleansing on CD for some reason. Stability and Daze mantra are way too situational to be reliable. Worst of all you would be taking restorative mantras over the focus reflect trait which is the only redeeming factor of this trait line.

Next regeneration. Since phantasms will be giving perma regeneration this actually seems pretty good. Not. The buff only last 5 seconds. So if you could time the 1000 HP right for the regeneration it will give a total of 625 healing. Combined with how often you won’t be interrupting foes – this is pretty awful.

Now lets cover activation. PvE you will never ever activate this. Why? Because of defiant. Not only does it make interrupts useless but if defiant falls off and someone else interrupts the mob. No healing power for you. PvP is equally useless – no skills to make use of the HP, stability countering this, not a lot of interrupts we have, and horrible scaling and lets face it. Between this and restorative illusions, restorative illusions is better.

Now. This Vs Restorative Illusions. Taking into consideration pure self healing of ether feast. Restorative illusions will heal for 902 with 1 illusion shattered. That is almost as much as 1000 HP would give you for ether feast. With 3 illusions that is only 20 less healing then 1000 HP gives ether feast. Not only that but restorative does not have a CD, so between 4 shatters that is about 4k more then 1000HP can give you for just ether feast and only ether feast since it is the only healing skill we have that scales 1:1 with healing power. Shatters are also on a shorter CD then ether feast, with nothing in the illusions line mind wrack has a 15 sec CD. You would be healing for the same amount AND being doing damage! Let’s add shatter CD reduction traits and shatter reset traits and you got tons better healing then 1000HP can give you.

Now this has gotten long so lets just summarize:

-Mesmers have horrible scaling with healing power.
-Mesmers don’t have any healing skills to make use of this
-Almost zero activation time in PvE
-Inspiration trait line is our worst trait line and generally is a waste of points (except for reflect focus trait). Going full 30 is just awful
-Timing 5 seconds of extra healing power with our healing CDs is almost impossible (because it last so short, what if our healing skill is on CD already?)
-Restorative Illusions outclasses this BY A LOT

Sorry Anet but you kittened up. There was zero consideration when you guys decided to make this “grandmaster trait”.

I’m not sure why you guys keep thinking Illusion of life is better. Sure it has a faster cast time and slightly shorter CD then the others but first of all half the the time it doesn’t rez the players after rallying.

Secondly and most importantly all other rez skills don’t re-down the player if they don’t kill something. They are just rezed. That is prob why the CD is SLIGHTLY lower then most and the short cast time.

So this is just a wild theory but I was looking over the scarlet minis. There is the hologram one and the armored one. Wanting one of them I did a little search on how to get them. The hologram is only 3g on the TP but the armored scarlet briar one you need to mystic forge no big deal but what is strange is the recipie for the armored scarlet briar.

Mini Mai Trin.

Why would Anet request a Mini Mai Trin to make a scarlet mini over the Holographic Scarlet mini itself? Especially since Mai Trin herself is not even present for this LS update. The fate of Mai Trin is unknown the last we heard from her is that scarlet had planned something for her in the Mists. But we do know that Scarlet doesn’t give second chances and is ruthless and cold so why would she spring Mai Trin if not to seal her fate?

Could the Scarlet we killed actually be a warped mutated version of Mai Trin?!? It would explain why suddenly Scarlet decided to wear a mask. Before during the Queens Jubilee we saw Scarlet concealing her identity with a hood but all of a sudden she is wearing a mask? What was the purpose of this? Could she have been wearing a mask to hide the fact that she is Mai Trin and that whatever transformation she was undergoing wasn’t complete so she needed to hide her face?

But now the question is how. How did Scarlet mutate Mai Trin? My theory? The nightmare tower poison.

We know from the Durmand Priorys research that the miasma is indeed NOT the poison from the nightmare tower and something else the hylek can identify. We also know that the poison itself inflicts hallucinations. If directly injected into the brain could the victim “hallucinate” that they are another person and then become that person?

I might be going too deep into this but I don’t believe we actually seen the last of Scarlet.

The most likely race to become playable next would be the Kodan. It would be really easy to fit them into the current personal story timeline.

Any different race like the tengu would either have to have a revamp of the personal story or their own unique personal story and I just don’t see that happening.

Something I see repeated (here and elsewhere) is the staffs AoE potential. While chaos storm is a mesmers obvious, go to AoE, I wonder what people could say about it when comparing to other classes? Everything from a staff ele, to a warriors auto attack cleave?

  • What do you say with the comparison between classes in mind?

Chaos storm isn’t the go to aoe for damage. It is the go to aoe to kitten with people.

I’ve been running a power PU build with staff + scepter/torch and the Phantasmal warlock alone can hit enemies for up to 7k… I don’t see how people think that it’s not good for damage.

It’s not that the phantasm isn’t good for damage but everything else isn’t going to help you in a power build offensively.

It is probably not the end of Scarlet. We still don’t know what Scarlet had Mai Trin do.

I wouldn’t put it past Scarlet to devlop some machine that turned Mai Trin into a scarlet clone.

Staff has a place in any condition build and is the best weapon for an interrupt build. If you are in a power build and want some type of defensive option it is also the go to though it’s auto is dreadful for power builds.

Yes there is. It is the leylines. On one of scarlets maps it shows a ley line right where teq is. He just absorbs it and becomes stronger – the same ley line is connected to the big pocket she drilled into to awaken mord.

But he didn’t get stronger after that patch neither did he before that patch

The ley lines existed before scarlet drilled into one. Teq got a small pocket of one. Since Teq is a dragon he consumes the magic of the ley line making him stronger.

So Anet “claimed” that the story and all its contents would be explained and wrapped up in the last 4 releases. However that is NOT the case and we are still missing answers for some questions.

1) What is Caithes secret?
2) Why did Scarlet help awaken the dragon? (Braham cut her off before explaining)
3) What did scarlet do with the poison she got from the tower of nightmares? (it is not the miasma)
4) Who is E?
5) What does the super adventure box have to do with scarlet? (Anet said all S1LS releases relate to each other)
6) What does the bazaar have to do with scarlet?
7) Why don’t the alliances interact with each other?

I highly doubt most if not any of these questions will even be answered in the wrap up on March 18th.

Knights scale beyond 50 players

They do not scale beyond 50 people. The reason they changed the buff to limit 50 people to do damage was because before servers would zerg the knights – and that is how they died so fast before because more then 50 peoples worth of damage was going out.

It seeming to take so long to kill the knight is just the fight itself not players overscaling it.

It is actually a buff and a nerf at the same time.

You have a chance now to get 0-3 cores for the event regardless if you were only at one knight the entire time.

It is also a nerf though because you can only get 6 Champ boxes per event now instead of 5 per boss, but champ boxes suck anyway so yea.

Illusion of life is pretty bad. I think it is the only skill in the “rez downed players” that requires the downed player that got up to kill someone. Necro, guardian and warrior variation of the skill do not.

There’s a guild challenge in which you have to kill 3 bosses within the same time window that works perfectly to split up the ‘zerg from one to the other’ tactic. It makes coordination very important and creates a much more interesting fight.

I was really hoping that was the case with the knights but it’s not. I’ve tried suggesting in map chat that we split up and take them all down at once but unfortunately mine is a tiny voice in a storm of “BLUE>GREEN>RED!!!”.

See An overflow actually tried this. I swear the overflow was full and everyone came to participate and the groups were split evenly but there was just not enough damage going on per Knight.

The scaling on the knights is horrible. The only time I’ve come close to 6 minutes was the blue green red zerg and we were off by 1 minute.

Quick question are you going to be rewarding players that have been fighting the knights and getting no chest or we just out of luck?

I also would like to know if there will be compensation since this No Loot bug has been going on for 1/3 of the event time.
