Dear Anet,
So far i haven’t seen much more but a new character in that extension, compared to any regular update. A character we might not even like to play with? flying , at some places? guild halls, that is so been bragged about for a long time that it feels it been around allready? Still no wanted guild vs guild wars?
I just don’t see anything worth a new game price. I dont see anything i would want over a brand new game..
Beside thanks for giving us a new game price tag for a such simple extension, rewarding new players and not giving poo about veterans… shows a lot
hem well, guardian allready got scepter 1 and 2 at 1200m :/ and 2 is quite a nice spamable aoe dmg. And gives diversity on offhand.
Somthing i like a lot on guardian is being able to switch range and melee, and beeing effective in both aspects.
Well speaking about roaming, awareness is the thing that will help you the most, all class and build include (unless thieves and got it so easy you don’t really need to care)
Beside awareness, FGS is the savior. I would probably get focus on offhand for invuln and overall survivability (but yeah no more rtl..) since earth 5 in pvp is so easy to avoid unless you burn a stun/port with it.
Mobility wise you could always ditch a signet for mobility utility. Or take air signet.. aoe blind isnt useless!
I would also have a second look at the runes you use, go either for another source of condition, or traveler runes who get along well with celestial imho. (and yeah, mobility!
So in the end im going to rebuild around my ele that i havent play for so long… going cele trinkets, dagger/focus, earth XII and II , full signet with prolly air/earth/water -fgs- and rune of traveler.
Also water 10 for anti condi, along signet and focus that should be fine… that somthing your build would miss… and arcane II so i wont miss energy sigil.

Sort of “hybrid Condi” is not a “new thing” on ele, neither on d/d staff nor septer… (condi septer might actually be the flavor atm)
It kinda work out, but isn’t meta because we lack diversity in this area? you also lower the dmg you do from water and air a lot. If you get against someone who lack condi removing and anti condi food, it will give you the edge on him…
Anyway, whatever floats your boat! in your setup i would probably go for signet gm and add fire signet instead of teleport, or go 2 pts in fire for burn on crit.
I do use it in wvw zerging and roaming, on meditation with lower cd and extra heal trait.
Not doing number crushing vs shelter, but it fits my playstyle, that is rather offensive overall. It kinda make sens with heals on other meditations.
I find that i usually get ok to both escape or get the dmg heal with teleports and leaps to not miss the little extra heal and mitigation from shelter.
As you get to use it more than others, i sometime like to trait with retaliation on heal, adapt the food with proc on heal too etc…)
The good thing imho is that most people dont expect it, and you get to harass your enemy rather then let him heal himself, or land his burst.
Ofc when i get surprised by a zerg i wish i had shelter on, to troll a bit, but afterall we ain’t thieves to troll zergs…
How do you deal with dot pressure?
I have been playing with such build myself lately, if you used to play a class with less mobility, the leech stack is really fun and effective enough for me.
Tho i m much more tanky, using assassin reward (thats some heavy heal!) and more pvt (i have just 50ish crit and 2k atck). Could use more condi clean access tho

In power build; GS helps in mobility, have some contro, evadel and decent dmg. I kinda like it personnaly, and its a cool weapon lol.
It all depend on what you play (wvw, roaming? pvp?) and, your build / other weapon.
Not much about ele’s.
Mostly nerf on unattended elites and skill (burn field stacks, meteornado)
Elementals may be more reliable since now will have a usable skill (heal on water and stun on air mostly)
Signets (lower cds and cast plus bleed on earth) and glyphs get a lil more usable with but nothing game change.
good for you, glad you have tons of rewarding jumping puzzles, achievements, and exploration to run all over the world allready.
Hopefully for you next anet game release will be a kitten jumping game.

Or we just have to use gw2 as a solo or offline game? Yet i m pretty chilled about trying to unlock those skills since i dont really want keep playing without my wife.
Pushing eles to support healer in a game where holly trinity isnt supposed to be. That new trait is a kitten good improvement right? spvp and wvw wised i just see another reason for peeps to hit that squishy ele first.

Top 3 ele worst downsides imho would be:
-the base hp/thoughness beeing ridiculous and make any other build “tanky”.
-the first 5pts bonuses while swapping elements should all be a core static bonuses for any ele build.
-not beeing able to swap weap while in fight for a ranged/close combat or aoe/solo focus adaptation , even with our usual high cd
Just for zerg? pugs? staff? i d probably go for mix of runes for max boon duration, or maybe soldier runes
wonder how it would be if it trigger at like 20% or w/e hp instead… Not beeing able to survive from escape because of our high cds on last ticks of a low condi is just too frustrating
that would make ele an efficient counter of smthing, won’t work.
Srsly, the 75% point and transfert would be too op imho, but i d love to see the feature transfered on signet

blasting staff increase aoe staff skills, in every attenument. In wvw zerg staff is used for aoe dmg and ctrls/heals, roaming solo and small grp you may try septer/x base on fresh air, or a bunkerish d/d.
Pure dmg wise daggers got best auto atck and atck speed, staff good aoe dmg and better ctrl and scepter is inbetween but harder to land skills imho (dragon tooth is so meeh)
I d trade water 2 for 5 or 6 depending of need on atck/def, and arcane 7 for renewing stamina since your crit would be good enough and stamina is soooo needed for us in pvp
Overall you may lack condi remove imho

i would just stop talking to that guy peeps, that s like asking anet to fix ele.
Vigor on crit trait is used by 3 professions. Elems, obviously; guardians and mesmers. Elem is the weakest of the 3 in terms on health and defense.
Guards got better boons.
Mesmers got clones and stealth.
Elems got to use major trait to get vig on crit and is well known as a “have to” trait since we rely a lot on it to survive, guards and mesmsers got it on minor.
My point is stop beggin anet, at the end they dont give a kitten about our class, reroll or change game.

staff is useless in small fight since slow cast/long animation/very easy dodge.
Staff is good against zerg in the middle of chaos; and as long as you hide in your own zerg.
i do like the idea of cripple on eruption very much if it ever stay at such a long animation..

I kinda like them somehow as it fit the best the fast smashing button machine players we have to be. But, they could be viable of it wasnt mandatory to go all the way up to earth to get swritten in stone

Thats quite an easy one padawan, swap to more ranged weap set, like any other class would do.
Well remember to party your opponent and ask him if its ok to let you get out of combat.
some skill are somehow considered as w/o channeling… you can see zeph focus and obsidian got their own icon when activated, on staff chek on meteor for example
Conclusions are easy to gets earlier if you recall all the former changes.
Lil buff here, annoying nerf there and here; no change in meta.
At the end eles will stand exactly where they are in pvp, underdogs if not hidding inside a wvw zerg.

i like to take arcane abatement, just because i like to use master traits that other profession access in adept!
Add lowest hp/thoughness base on top of this, and wonder why people blame elems to have the most QQ subforum while even those who blame us admit at some point smthing wrong with us..

wvw staff ele is in a good place this is true as long as you stay with the herd. My main issue is that the devs have been using comparisons like mine to justify shuffling our traits around. I’m just wondering how they can then justify a stronger trait being in a lower tier for a different class.
I play both warrior an ele in most aspects of the game and I can’t help but notice the warrior seems to be in a better position. For a mere 15 points they get access to Dogged March, Adrenal Health, and Healing Signet. This gives them very good passive healing I might even go as far as say its better than ele’s active healing because they can keep the pressure on. Now why does a class with the highest hp/armor warrant healing as good or better than the ele? While still having 55 trait points to spend how they please. To be able to keep up I’m forced to take Healing Ripple, Elemental Attunement, and Evasive Arcana taking up 45 of my 70 trait points.
Consider that all of those elementalist heals work in AoE while the warrior regen only affects themselves. Of course that doesn’t matter in a dueling setting, but if you run with even a small group it makes a big difference.
Pretty sure none on this sub forum will not agree with you than ele does shine in small to huge grp fights. They do.
Until they get focused more than 4s by ANY other profession. In 1on1 any class will have much more easier access to base survivability-heal/dmg ratio by quite far.
For the record, the only “unique” thing eles got for them is the ability to swit elements and then have more skills available.
And thats sounds cool but ,helas, in dev mind that means:
weaker base atcks, and more time needed to have access to more likely the same effects others have in 2 weapons sets .
With lower cooldowns.

Nooooo don’t remove the aoe dmg, that the only effective way for us to jump into a grp of foes, tag then die there with no chance to kill/hide/survive/escape.
Maybe i m not trying hard enough.. Going to try to combo with lava tomb! brb
vigor scepter is 25% only, but is not a boon and can’t be stopped.
While boon that five max regen apply, vigor scepter doesn’t stack (since its maxed allready anyway).
So i guess vig scepter could fill a gap between two proc or if boon stolen… but 25% is barely noticeable
Soothing Wave redesign: Gain Regeneration(3s) on incmoing critical hits. 10s recharge.
We do try kitten avoiding getting “critical hitted” and 6s regen to 3s regen with 10s cd (idk how is the cd at the moment) doesnt smell such like a great buff.
Instead, make all signet give regen or at least more signet, like juste water/heal?
Hell not as much heal as warrior shouts give, please (we dont have such an hp pool to fill anyway) but our signets/survivability could use some love atm.

in summary we will always feel in need to spec heavy in escape tools when facing 1on1 any decent player beside maybe rangers.
one ring for immune to condi, another one for direct dmg.
Then we all could play like warriors! :p

Anything given to us without major downside someday would be… anyway;
Sure beeing able to swap staff/x would’t make us any op.
It would just make staffies in WvW going from free to kill in 1onX to easy as kitten to kill. Obviously, sounds like asking too much
the problem is if you get in the best position possible to kill anyone, You are set to die to condi or dmg once the 2 survivability skills you manage to keep. If you good at dodging maybe you ll be able to run away.
And that dmg you could be able to deal using about half your skills, will be hardly equal to the dmg other will deal with a bunker or semi bunker build with eyes closed.
i m a supposed to be a support class in a game w/o holly trinity, so i think i must support that thread.
plus a decent auto atck on each attenument? and a donut? If some day they manage to make signet aoes, they would have to reduce their effectiveness by 50%. If we r lucky they ll add some odd 0.3s coolspeed on side effect.
If you look at others changes you ll notice that many affect themselves also.
Like base heal improvement, regen, boon duration, more dispels and what not.
Many things that will help them to support themselves on 1vX.
What elem really gets for themselves is minor random one way supespeed.
On a major trait, and in trade of some swiftness.
Sir, that is srsly Epic. And me, foolish me, wasn’t aiming to get a sig on forum.
Staff got both been nurfed in aoe and buffed some ways. So its been “less nurfed than others aoes so its kinda a buff”.
Point is none said staff needed a buff.. well it does to get used in 1on1, yet it remains crap there.
Conjures. I dont use them neither. So far i can see on forums, most dont. Also i dont see anyone wanted a buff on them, more likely ppl would trade a nerf on conjures dmg and a buff anywhere else to compensate?
As good in mechanics as new air traits may sound, its so small duration, one way only and useless out of combat… may enhance leaps for sure. but stuck us in rotations again.. And imho will never worth another major trait.
So its bleh update. Conditions build still gonna kitten . I even heard wars got a buff on signet? lol
PS i do enjoy the ground targetting and dmg icons. Plz fix pvp meta now u done with cosmetics…
in a minor trait it could be an ok buff, in a FA build. Like now its on my “dont bother using that trait” list like many others
If when you play you can manage to play staff ele in fast zerg that take obj, why not
i still fight trying to figure out why ele s attenument is considered as a weapon switch. What profession has to perma change weapon to get control OR heal OR somehow dmg.
Every profession i can think of switch weapons to change from distance or solo/multiple targets. Eventually, to direct dmg to condi. Make them versatile! On demand!
So PLEASE arenanet, nurf elementalist to 2 elements, call them grass and sun or whatever but make them beeing somehow usefull by themselves.
Now waiting for a nerf on the “uber op staff” in wvw… and anet shall be finally done with ele. At least i hope so.
basically yes, at least if u get the chance to have 5%more crit chance than damage, at the same cost you should go for it.
Tho it also depend on the atck rate of the weapon you are using and his raw damage.
