New rewards?
:: perks up ears ::
Oh yes! Check this: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/tyrias-point-of-no-return/ sort of near the bottom.
“Refreshed rewards” seems to suggest something new or something much loved that is returning. In either case, it sounds good to me!
No, no, no, I truly <3 Quaggans. I really think they’re adorable and I wouldn’t harm a hair on their… a scale on their… a…. something something.
I just had to toss that in because it made me smile. But I’d defend the Quaggans with my very life!
Hell yeah! Death to all quaggans! Someone give that guard a raise.
Oh now! Come one, quaggans are great!
And no, I don’t mean they’re great because they taste just like chicken.
I really think Halloween is the most magical time of the year. I mean, the most magical time of the year in the game. Yeah, yeah, that’s what I meant.
The new rewards look good, the event is always fun, and it’s a great way to reconnect with guildies and friends. Hope to see y’all in the game!
I think you’ll like the new rewards. Granted, I’m more than a little obsessed with Halloween in general, but the goodies look pretty sweet to me!
I think they’re going to muck it up and do something stupid with the LS ending.
That’s the spirit!

Yes, it can be awkward, you’ve got that right.

This is good. This is very good. And I’m glad most of you can see that.

Concerning tickets: 87549, 87864, 88808
All of these pertain to the same issue, an account hack and character deletion. I had submitted a couple of tickets prior to these and received expedient responses. For this issue, I received no response in a couple of days, hence the subsequent tickets. It has been over 3 days since the initial ticket with no response.
Is this for Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2? If 2, your ticket numbers are wrong.
Is the harsh camera zoom when encountering walls/obstacles covered anywhere? Would love transparency on objects/walls or something to help with that.
This is covered by “Stop ‘random snapping’ from happening”. It’s actually a pretty interesting issue due to how guild wars 2 handles objects in the world. In order to do something like transparency you would need some way to either ‘tag’ objects as being able to be transparent or detect in real time that the objects can be ignored. To go back and tag each individual object in each map would take quite a long time and there is the possibility that some things could be missed or other objects end up getting tagged that shouldn’t have been.
Checking back in. This isn’t meant to be a discussion of just those three ideas that I posted, those were just a primer for options. The idea is to discuss RNG as a concept inside of games and reward systems. I think more discussion will lead to better understanding of the problems current systems may have, and the pros and cons of other possible systems.
That being said, this is not a discussion of how you should get a precursor. I’d prefer the discussion to be much more general, solving specific problems is easy once you have an excellent framework.
I think they’re going to muck it up and do something stupid with the LS ending.
That’s the spirit!

I must say I’m extremely impressed at how well you take all this non-stop and nonconstructive criticism… I’d say sorry for the players… but I can only speak for myself… I think you’re doing a good job though if that helps.
Agree
Thanks Cure and Yar,
It’s all part of working on a game together. We have to take the downs with the ups.
The community in general has been pivotal in the evolution of the game and long may that last.

I think they’re going to muck it up and do something stupid with the LS ending.
Well that would be consistent with the entirety of the LS so far, so.. why not!

Lets all make fun of Palador instead of the “story”, Woooo!
Not making fun of Palador at all. He has been a good contributor on the forums and I have read many of his ideas and discussions on CDI. It’s a friendly dig.
Chris
We have an event tomorrow so we will start Raids on Wednesday. Meanwhile final bump.
As many folks have said, thanks for an awesome CDI.
Chris
Question!
Will it be wrong/ off-topic to discuss how the battle system functions in large-scale content once we start discussing raids?
I ask this not only because it’s important for the quality of raiding, but also because GW2, as a whole, seems to be moving (or desires to move) into a larger-scale direction, with fans asking for (and devs showing interest on) raids and GvG (aka, large-scale organized pvp), on top of the already existing WvW and open-world boss events.
Yet, the combat system was clearly designed with small-scale pvp combat as a priority, with some stand-out clarity and design issues on anything bigger than 5-party content (and even so, some of those issues are already present on small scale content).
Perhaps, discussing one topic can directly affect the other, and vice-versa?
hi Diogo,
This is an absolute necessity to discuss in the CDI. I am looking forward to this particular subject the most.

Hey, is anyone else running into HTTP “speed bumps”? If I send too many requests, I start seeing HTTP 502 (Gateway Timeout) and I have to wait a minute or two before I can send new requests. Just wondering if this is a technical limitation, or if we’re being throttled.
edit
Must have been a network congestion thing. It doesn’t happen now, even though I tweaked my code to send even more requests. My best record is a full download of the items database for all languages in just under 32 seconds. I’m impressed by how well the API responds to that many concurrent requests.
:)
What’s the name of the story step? There are 18 different L60 story steps, so I need more than “L60 human” to pinpoint the problem.
The ticket has been updated. Since the issue has been acknowledged here and reviewed, I’m closing this topic.
I know! I think it’s brilliant, myself. Glad you’re liking it as well.
This is such a sweet idea. Thanks for sharing, Drimi.
By the way, feel free to put [Suggestion] in the front of this or other ideas you’d like to suggest. It’s not necessary, but I think it’s nice to see that “flag.”
Your English is fine, and I believe you’re not attempting to start a negative thread, but as you can see from the wild guesses (all inaccurate) and the rude comments, this isn’t going anywhere good. Please don’t be offended, Lord, but this needs to be closed.

We’re looking into returning the Charr’s missing tail in an upcoming patch. (probably after halloween) – appologies for putting you off balance meantime.
Oh, on topic…
Dr. Strange — I’m going to ask about the mechanics. There might be a reason for this, but I’m just not sure. (If someone else comes up with a likely explanation, please feel free to post! Otherwise, I’ll see if I can find out why it’s working as it does, and if it is working as intended.)
I am horrified by this news, and had no idea that this was going on.
Oh the humani…. quagganity!
I really am fighting not to create a thread about flying bunnies.
On a serious note it is Saturday, hope you are being paid no matter how much you enjoy what you do.
Speculative posts about flying bunnies will be smited at my first opportunity with untold and horrific consequences. (You don’t want to even think about what that might mean!
)
Yes, it’s Saturday. Not I’m not on the clock. Don’t worry, I won’t spend my entire weekend here, but I like to try to keep up with things a bit on the weekends and after all, this is a pretty good crowd to hang out with.
I am horrified by this news, and had no idea that this was going on.
Oh the humani…. quagganity!
So, you make a new thread to trot out an old one (basically, a bump), insert an unpleasant subject line, and consider this worthy of discussion? No. Regurgitation is effective for cows; doesn’t work so well with forums.
Also, it’s not fair or informative to post “facts” or “figures” that you can’t validate, particularly when, by all I can see, they were never said. Vague, “Yeah, they said they’d have flying bunnies in the next event” only has stature if you can point out who “they” was, and maybe give us a link to that statement. (BTW: There are no flying bunnies. Flying bunnies were used solely as an example. Thank you for heeding this addendum.
)
There are individual threads about various subjects to which you can contribute, but I know your posting history, and I know you can do better than this. I know you can make positive, constructive comments. Do that. Not this.
The death cam spinning bug should be fixed. It will go out at some point.
I feel like this is a dump question and I don’t even know if the answer of my question can be derived from previous answers. But it just pops up in my head so if anyone can answer or point me to the right direction, it’d be great.
Dungeon running is recognized as the current highest g/hr farming method and also one of the most popular one. However it rewards player mostly in straight gold instead of drops. Does this eventually leads to inflation? because that more people run dungeon instead of farming materials?
It doesn’t necessarily lead to inflation, but it is a major input of liquid currency into the economy.

About ticket 938871.
My friend is asking for another review. You cant terminate peoples accounts just like that, especially when they never ever used any third party programs. Let me kindly remind you that your system is far away from perfect and the bug in your system a year ago (when many accounts were terminated) totally proves it.
As I see tickets 920565 and 876771 have the same problem.
What was the last precursor you forged?
Hey guys, thanks for the discussion on this, I have gone ahead and added this feedback to a main tracking thread for all of this. You can find it Here!
I’m not sure I understand the complaint here. All of our Ready Up episodes are pushed to Youtube, usually the Wednesday after the live show.
dace — I wouldn’t want you to think that this has been a static thing, that there’s been no movement on this. There’s been assessment, analysis, and discussion. The devs have considered changes and some they’ve outright rejected where others are still in the running and need assessing in relation to the bigger picture that I mentioned earlier. If there aren’t details to provide overtly — and right now there are not — there is activity happening covertly. So I would say that progress has been made.
CDI on this? I don’t know what Chris Whiteside’s schedule is for CDI’s, and I know his bandwidth is stretched thin. (He has a boatload of stuff on his plate, that for sure!) However, I’ll ping him about that and he can consider if it would fall into the CDI format, and if so, when.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I talked to a couple of the devs just now, and they told me this is a subject they’re still reviewing and considering how best to address. It’s part of a larger discussion, as you can imagine, and changes would necessarily involve a few elements, not just condition caps alone.
While there aren’t details on changes or a timeframe in which they would be done, you can be sure that this is being reviewed by the devs and considered as part of the big picture and potential adjustments in the future.
I do hope my messages aren’t among the ones that need to be pruned. I try to keep things on an even keel,, civil and understanding, even though I am impassioned by nature.
But the company’s policy is unacceptable, it is untenable in the long run, and it is directly responsible for a great deal of player ennui.
I respect your efforts to keep things civil. In fact, I applaud them, because I know how challenging that effort can be in the face of situations about which one is emotional.
I take on board your thoughts about the company’s policy, and I know you’d like something different, as would others. However, I feel that Mike O’Brien explained the why’s and wherefore’s of the policy, even while he also implemented changes that would improve communication.
Case in point: A Forum Communications Team, with members in all four supported languages. Not that I believe my team is the be-all and end-all, for I fully understand that some would prefer to communicate with devs who are dedicated to talking about the game on a regular, even daily basis. But I’m not sure where the real cap is on “this isn’t enough” and “this is just right” and I think it may be a moving target when you’re talking about a large group of diverse people with different viewpoints and priorities.
At the present time, I hope that the devs who are actively communicating are valued for what they’re doing. Beyond that, I feel sure forum members who look at the subject objectively would agree that it would be an error in judgment to assign devs to expend a lot of time writing forum or blog posts when their primary focus should be on developing the game.
Some communication from devs is great, and we’ll continue to see how we can make more of that happen. Yes — I hope we can get more, I really do. In return, players should continue to tell us their particular points of concern or focus, so that when we do have dev interaction, we can try to hone in on meaningful topics.
Thanks for reading.
Hello!
The adopted devs got together again earlier this week for a lunch meeting to bring feedback from their guilds and discuss their observations. The team has already begun addressing some of the feedback the devs brought back as well as some of the issues that you have brought up on our forums.
Coming with the build next week, build sites for rams will be trimmed down in size. This is to reduce the visual clutter with build sites, since rams are often built very close to each other, and make it easier to tell a ram apart from other siege when you are building it. There are also changes coming later to label the build interacts with what you are building. So you should see “Build Ram”, “Build Catapult” etc. instead of just “Build”. These were suggestions taken from the discussion on siege trolls.
We are going to make a balance pass on Siege Disablers. This was one of the most common pieces of feedback both from our adopted devs and from the forums. We really believe that Siege Disablers were a great addition to the game. They gave defenders a better chance of holding off attackers, they created new strategies and they created some fun fights outside of objectives by buying some time. But we agree that they need to be adjusted. We will be looking at things like radius, cooldowns and duration of the effect.
There were a handful of other tweaks brought up in our discussions that we are planning. These include reducing the number of people who can rally off of a kill. Removing white swords from objectives to give defenders a stronger role in alerting their team as well as giving attackers more of a chance to get through having their siege disabled. We are also going to test out awarding points per kill. PPK was part of the scoring discussion and something we wanted to try. We will be looking for your feedback on that change after it goes live.
Some bigger issues are factoring into longer term work. For example, we have been discussing what we have learned from our conversations on the forums as well as the feedback our adopted devs brought back from their guilds on the topics of population imbalance and scoring. These are bigger changes and are factoring into longer term solutions that the team is working on.
The team has a lot to chew on but some areas that I’d like to discuss more with the community in the near future are rewards and supporting some vital roles like scouting and defending. I’ll kick off some discussions on these areas in the next couple of weeks.
I was happy to hear from the devs that they would all love to do this again and felt it was a very fun and valuable way to spend their free time. Many of them have made some great new friends and they all felt like this was a great way to really connect with the community by playing side by side with new faces and getting new perspectives on Guild Wars 2.
Thanks again to everyone who signed up for or hosted a dev! We had a great time!
John
Out of curiosity, what about those random matches that pop seconds after hitting the queue button
If it isn’t you that had to wait then it was someone else.
Well, new Profession balance information is coming this Friday, and they are taking feedback on those proposed changes, and will use it to adjust them….so, there’s that. =)
Thanks for noticing. Coming up in minutes.
~snip~ Although I notice Gaile hasn’t posted in the last few pages I’d guess the thread is getting read at some level.
Yes, every word. A few comments probably could use pruning because they’re really not contributing, but I think a light hand is ok, and am trusting we can have this discussion with narry a torch or pitchfork in sight!
Oh btw, MFoy, I think your post had a light of insight. Thank you for that.
Rauderi — People respond in different ways to unpleasantness. I don’t believe “hide in the shadows” is accurate — our devs are not prone to hiding — but in a general sense yes, some people would hesitate to dive into a situation if they thought they’d be met with a lot of hostility. Let me offer up yet another Patented Silly Analogy™:
Comment — “Hey, I’m serving cake.”
Responses — “Thanks.” but then… “WTH, no ice cream?” “But I wanted chocolate cake and you’re offering spice cake.” “You suck, I wanted a full dinner!” “How about those cookies you promised us last month?” And, basically, “Yeah, there’s a lot of cake, and it’s great, and a lot of people are liking it, but what about my needs?”
Again, I’m not discounting a single dissenting point of view, here or anywhere else. Not one. But it crossed my mind how things could be seen, from an observer’s point of view.
Korossive — you don’t consider Living World to be a fulfillment of the “evolving dynamics and development?” I do — in spades!
joe — Interesting point of view, thanks for sharing that.
Updating the list and necroing the thread all in one go!
(Please note this does not mean that any of these things will happen)
Please let me know if there is anything else I’m missing.
So it sounds like adding a ‘right click toggle’ and a ‘keybind toggle’ are clearly favored options in the replies here. Thanks for the responses!

100% legit now
These world boss crashes are getting real tiring. How many times do I need to submit these similar callstacks?
I crash almost daily at Karka Queen, or Shatterer. Today, I crashed at both.I don’t crash anywhere else. I think in the years I’ve been playing, I’ve had one (1) crash that wasn’t at a world boss.
I have been sending in callstacks for over a year now for crashes at world bosses, and while I’ve not been looking that closely at them, they almost always look the same. These crashes showed up around the time the culling feature was removed (when was that, a year and a half ago?)
And no, I’m not interested in playing at “low quality” settings. That is a BS solution, and by doing that stupid workaround, Anet won’t get the volume of callstacks they should be getting over this ridiculous issue.
Further, I play 99% of my gameplay with everything maxed, and there is no preset for that. High only sets about half the settings to max. I still have to go in and manually set half the settings higher after I choose the high preset. I’m not interested in fiddling with a dozen settings multiple times a day just to workaround some crashes that should have been fixed a long time ago.
Please, for the love of {deity} put some priority on fixing these crashes. I have sent you countless callstacks now. The issue is easily reproducible:
1) Go to a world boss where a zerg collects
2) Auto attack boss and wait
3) Crash
Thanks for submitting your log files. I’ve found your corresponding crash reports and we will look into the issue immediately.
The skinny is that it looks like we’ve allowed you to shoot yourselves in the foot with maxed out graphics settings combined with crazy boss zergs. The GW2 client is a 32bit process which has access to just 4gb of RAM, even less in practice due to fragmentation in high churn environments like a zerg fest. I can see from your log files that you are hitting an upper limit of about 3.5 gb of allocated memory before crashing on a failed allocation(i.e. running out of memory).
In the meantime here are some things you can turn down that will free up some memory in zergs without compromising graphics too much:
-Disable “High-Res character textures”
-Ease back on “Character Model Limit” and “Character Model Quality”
-Ease back on “Lod Distance”
The memory use for characters can roughly be described as = character count * character quality * 4 (if high-res is enabled).
Report back if those changes don’t help and I will do the same when we have a fix in-bound.

Hi there Tecnomage,
If you’re still experiencing this issue, I would advise trying a DNS flush and bypassing your router completely so you can rule that out as a possibility. Beyond this, I would advise the following to see if this resolves the issue for you:
1. Locate the file “GW2.exe” and right-click it, selecting “Create Shortcut.”
2. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”
3. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
4. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end. Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes.
— Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
— Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”
5. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes. If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try Step 4 again.
6. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.
Hope this helps!
This is not currently an option supported in Guild Wars 2. I am however curious how you would see this functioning. Would it be some sort of keybind toggle, or something else?
