Thank you for the reports posted after the live build yesterday.
As you’re aware, some Mac users now are able to purchase gems and redeem gem codes, but others still are having difficulties. I’ve collected all of your posts (thanks again!) and have sent them to … a whole bunch of people. 
We do not consider this issue done and dusted, but only partially addressed, and we will continue to work on the issues that folks are experiencing.

There was a bug with ’Nightmare’s Ender’ that caused it not to count toward the Meta, we released a fix for it yesterday and your Meta should update when you log in with the patch.
Volkon, let me check your points to verify they’re correct. You should have already had a reduction in points after our discussion.

Chris, copying this over from an old CDI thread in case you missed it. Given the OPs question it seemed relevant.
I dont know if this is the right place to post this but its the best I could find, which in itself is relevant to the suggestion I would like to make.
It seems that CDI does not have a home, so to speak, but is spread out across the various forums the different threads are related to. This makes sense, but for someone who doesn’t visit the forums everyday its quite difficult and time consuming to find where the various threads are.
I would suggest a stickied post in the suggestions forum listing all the CDI threads, current and completed, in chronological order and with a short paragraph describing the purpose and contents of each.
This would allow participants very convenient access to any topic they might want to contribute too or read up on without requiring you to move any existing threads or reorganize anything else on the forums. It might also help people to grasp the big picture of CDI, which might help them appreciate what you are trying to achieve with it, something that is hard to see if you only see one or two threads every now and then.
I think this is a good idea to and we will do something in this spirit early next year. My only concern is folks not seeing the thread and thus not getting involved.
Looking at my schedule today it is likely i will post the topic tomorrow. Sorry for the delay but i want to give the topic my full attention.

First off, I’d like to thank you for your efforts in broadening the cultural horizons of our day-to-day forum goers. That said, I believe that much of the raw emotion that lives within the original narrative is lost in this translation.
While your version is much more accessible for the everyday reader, I truly hope that they become captivated by the thematic undercurrents and take the time to fully understand the piece in its original form.

I have been extremely busy today and probably will be tomorrow, hence the thread not existing yet. I will try to get it there tomorrow and if not Friday.
Thanks for your comments around the proposed title. The topic will focus on Character Progression within GW2. Whilst Ascended Gear will obviously be part of that conversation I don’t want it all to be about that, hence not including it in the title.
The focus of this thread is about evolving the game through design philosophical discussion with evolving being the key word in my sentence. Thus I hope we discuss all types of progression, what has worked, what hasn’t and then brainstorming progression moving forward.

The unintended change has been reverted as of today’s hotfix. You can see it reflected in the patch notes here.

Making things clear would be highly appreciated.
If I am allowed to make side notes too then as a side note I would say that making things clear is all I am asking for in my email appeal, with no still answer from your part, but I would be perfectly fine with you clarifying things on the forums instead of replying to my ticket.
Apologies for not responding; it’s been pretty busy with the new updates and all. What I can say, which might help others caught in this scenario:
It is never appropriate to incite the community to spam any of our communities. Whilst we understand it was a joking comment, it unfortunately led to many people coming to one of our official Community Channels to cause disruption. We understand it was not your intent to do so, but we had to call in extra staff to help moderate the Livestream chat.
This also meant that those who showed in good faith, with good questions, were buried under the mess created. It is frustrating for the viewers and for our staff.
We treat any post which asks people to abuse our communities equally. We simply do not tolerate it and reserve the right to shut down said abuse in whatever means we need to do so.
While this all sounds harsh, the effects of such a small joke impacts our staff’s time and work, and on the other player’s experiences.
Does that help to clarify?
I’ve alerted our KB specialist, and I’m sure she’ll look for those erroneous links.
If you have any that come to mind, it’s be great if you post them here to save her time!

I am having this issue recently, and I know why, as should you, the spoof and phishing e-mail were sent with your addresses as the source, I am really surprised you all have not changed your e-mail address down there at GW2 headquarters, that is the easiest way to get your e-mails through, since new e-mails will not yet be flagged as fraud. If you change your e-mail address often, even just adding a number to the end of it, it would help a lot with this problem.
Also, I am on here to check my in box here on this website, and it is empty, why would you not cc your messages here for us to pick up ? Why have you not e-mailed me also in game?
Now where on earth am I supposed to find my support ticket then since you do not e-mail me here, seem to have a blocked e-mail address with my mail server, and do not seem to have a place for me to look up my tickets ?
I think you’re not clear on e-mail “sender” information. Anyone can send an e-mail as just about anyone in the world. You could get an e-mail that appears to come from The Cat in the Hat or President Obama or Santa Claus, but that doesn’t mean it came from them. In fact, I’m pretty comfortable telling you that that mail did not come from any of those sources. 
I can’t see where us changing our legitimate e-mail address would make a bit of difference, when the mails are not coming from us, but can be spoofed to appear to come from us no matter what the real sending address may be. And cycling through constantly changing e-mail addresses is a recipe for disaster!
You can verify the sender of an e-mail by checking its properties or the mail header. Our changing our outbound e-mail address won’t reduce the phishing attempts. Each of us who uses the Internet must protect ourselves by being diligent in checking e-mails and making sure they come from the source they show in the “From” or “Sender” field.

Update: the error message is a mystery to us, but it has been corrected, according to reports from the team involved with such things.

Please read the second to explain the “e-mail has changed” notation. It is explained in that first e-mail.
You will each need your own account to play Guild Wars 2. Please also be aware that account sharing is a huge risk for both of you, and it is against the User Agreement.
How about the Fractal cinematic, are you able to hear sound with that one?
It can be found by entering the Fractals of the Mists map from a portal Lion’s Arch, and it should play the video for you. If you’ve already seen it before, you can view it again from the hub just on the other side of the portal by speaking to one of the nearby NPCs.
This is not a “Game Bug”, therefore this thread will be locked. Please refrain from off-topic posting. If there is topic you would like to discuss, feel free to create a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum.
As a side note, we are preparing an updated post regarding this and numerous other changes. It should make things more clear for everyone.
For you Mac folks: We’re aware of this issue and very sorry that you’re having this experience. If I am reading the internal e-mails properly, a fix for this is being worked on and may already be in testing mode.
I hope you’ll try again soon. I’ll give an “all clear” when it comes through.

I’m currently living in the People’s Republic of China, and I don’t always have access to a reliable VPN when playing this game. If I’ve just purchased this game and create my first characters and content on a Chinese server, will I be able to play with the same characters once I return to the States later this month?

As far as I know, there are no official Chinese servers at this time. Only two regions: NA and EU. Once an account is registered in its appropriate region, you may play from anywhere in the world.

This is correct. All those who register the game play out of our North American or European data centers.
As you may be aware, we changed to a new billing system last week. The system providers have fully reviewed the legal requirements related to sales tax (or its equivalent) and a charge is added to purchases in those states, provinces, regions, or countries that require taxation.

Thanks again for all the great feedback. We heard a lot about what rewards you would like to see, what motivates different types of players and some concerns about some of the changes.
As a result of this discussion we have already decided to keep ranks in some form to represent a player’s long term investment in the game. This discussion has factored heavily into our internal discussion as to what that form will be and adjustments that need to be made. We do agree with most of you that changes need to be made especially with the attainability of the ranks towards the end.

We don’t give out the numbers, because too many people will game the system.
I think Skullcrack is a good place now. Ideally, all of our high impact skills should allow for counter-play via a clearly telegraphed attack animation. It’s something we’re constantly thinking about when we look at existing skills, and doubly so when we brainstorm new ones.
The Nightmare Ender achievement has no affect on the rewards you receive for completing The Nightmare Ends story instance, nor does it block your ability to complete the two bonus achievements for solving the puzzles and fighting your way through. The only thing this bugged achievement should affect is one count toward your Nightmare’s Aftermath achievement. We will have plenty of Aftermath daily achievements to help you complete your Meta, but we are working on a fix to update Nightmare Ender to count toward the Meta. Thank you for all your reports, please give us a heads up if you see that this achievement is causing something more serious than its one missing Meta count!
Morfedel: The Nightmare Ends story instance is a solo instance.

There is currently a bug with Nightmare Ender, causing it to not count toward your Nightmare’s Aftermath Meta. If you are one achievement short on your Meta count, its is most likely Nightmare Ender; we are working on getting a fix out for it.
Sorry for the confusion, I’ll try a different phrasing to see if that helps.
Each gift earns you a discounted purchase, even of a different stack size.
So for example you can gift 1 black lion key to a friend, and get 40% off a purchase of the 25 stack of keys.
Note, Collection expanders are not gift-able due to being account limited purchases. So sorry no discount on those.

The 12/10 patch has a fix for the Toxic Alchemist in it, if you see any further Alchemist events stalling out, please post me your server so I can follow up!
Bug-Fixing
Considering this thread is based completely off of conjecture and speculation (I mean, the patch wasn’t even out yet), I’m going to lock it. Feel free to make a new one after you’ve experimented with the changes.

I can confirm that you can now upgrade the fractal capacitor again as I made mine just now. However, it does not have it’s inherent +5 agony resistance anymore. They seem to have fixed one bug and created another.
The inherent +5 agony resistance was replaced with an Agony Infusion slot (that uses all those +1 agony resist infusions you see dropping.) From the sounds of it, this is working as intended.

Open your map and lower your map level to Kessex Hills (the icon looks like two stacked diamonds on the lower right side of the Map UI, by the map zoom controls) and you should be able to travel to any Waypoint in Kessex Hills.
