I think the verbiage is as clear as it can be. Why don’t you submit a ticket to see if the team can assist you? Sometimes we can.
Most issues are resolved in a few hours, 24 hours at most. But some take considerably longer, it’s true. But do note the e-mail issues thread, as we’re responding and some players are not getting those responses.
Achievements advancing from personal score instead of rank points is a bug. When it is fixed, it will be retroactive unless some horrible code demon prevents it. I wouldn’t stress over getting personal score to advance the achievement right now.

In seriousness though, what you saw was not dueling. We have to ability to change our teams using cheats, which would cause a free-for-all in the lobby. What you really want is only two players hostile towards each other, which is much more complicated that using teams.
Can you do this instead? this sounds much much better Free for all in lobby sounds like the best time Ever, put it on a timer like every 15 minutes o_O

In other games when you “report” a gold seller it sends the actual gold spam text to a GM or automated collection file. If you had a live person who saw these reported spams, that person could immediately close the account (either temporarily or permanent). If gold spammers started getting the accounts closed within 5 minutes of the first spam, it would stop pretty kitten quick.
RMT spam has increased, no doubt about it. We believe the increase is related, in part, to the Christmas holiday. But I wanted you to know that the system you described as used in other games is precisely the system we already have in place and act upon 24/7/365. 
If someone is reported for RMT gold sale spam, we have their name and the chat clip, so many are taken out within a matter of minutes. Due to volumes, we occasionally have a delay, but as far as I know all are reviewed, appraised, and acted upon quite soon.
I know there are people who say “I’ve reported this same person 10 times in 20 days” and I don’t really have an answer for those edge cases. I just verified with the full team that we are utilizing the system at full capacity, and they confirmed that is the case. I can add one thought: A lot of the “spam accounts” have silly names, like ASDFHILKI. It’s possible that when you report that person, the account is closed, but another one crops up with a very similar group of letters. It may appear to be the same, but not actually be the same spam whisperer.
However, I will be tracking concerns about this and may ask for additional information if we see some sort of pattern that tells us that things are working other than as expected.

TL;DR: If you are now in a different territory (NA versus EU) from when you first played during Season 1, your Season rewards won’t be granted until we can solve a technical issue. There’s also a different small chance you won’t get the Season reward later in a WvW match. That chance is near-zero shortly after a new match starts up. You will eventually get the Season rewards.
In-depth details follow.
Season reward chests are granted via a hidden achievement, which differs for each place within a League. Whether your world placed first in Gold or Bronze League, you’ll be given the same achievement. The Dolyak finishers are delivered by the in-game mail system if your world placed first in its League. The mail differs for each League.
The game use two pieces of information to know which achievement/mail you should receive. One is historical WvW data so it knows how your world placed in the Season. The other is which world you’re associated with for the Season. This association was made the first time you entered the world during Season 1.
Issue 1: Worlds in the NA and EU territories don’t know about each other’s historical WvW data. So if you’re in a different territory from the one you were associated with for Season 1, the game doesn’t know how your world placed and can’t reward you. Yet. Once this issue is fixed, the Season reward will be granted. We know who should get the rewards, and who has not yet received them.
Issue 2: There’s a bug that sometimes prevents certain games from knowing any historical WvW data—even for their own territory. This can prevent the game from giving Season rewards. This also affected the Dawn of the Seasons achievement’s behavior. Until this is tracked down and fixed, there seems to be a smaller chance to be given the Season rewards later in the week of a WvW match. Chances are extremely good shortly after a new match has started that you’ll be given the rewards.
Thank you for your patience while we solve these issues. While there are quicker ways to get rewards out to people who are missing them, it’s best we take the time to fix the underlying issues and allow the corrected code to issue the rewards in due time. Neither player nor developer wants the same issue to potentially happen a second time. Or for rushed work to cause different issues in the future.
We received a very large amount of roster sheets over the weekend and so we’re working to get through them all as fast as possible.

There’s a couple of new bits about the Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle this year that you may find refreshing. The largest improvement is that you no longer have to wait until all of the players complete the puzzle in-between your attempts.

A 1000 guilds have been invited. The guild i’m in is one of the biggest active WvW guilds currently on SoR with both NA and EU coverage, and yet not invited yet.
Really makes me wonder how much RNG Anet’s selection process is.
Helioz has been invited — an email was sent to one “Green Arrow”. I suggest you tell them to check their email.
Email addresses are necessary for our process — just as how it was necessary for when you first registered your Guild Wars 2 account. You may need to add both noreply@guildwars2.com and edgeofthemists@arena.net to your safe list/contact list/etc in order to receive the essential emails you need to participate in the test.
So now it should be clear but if you have any problems with authorization e-mails check your blocked lists specially if you’re client of those Microsoft e-mail services.
Out of curiosity, have you had any issues after this when it comes to our emails being put into your spam/blacklist folder?

No offense, Justin, but unless you have several friends to queue with team arena is a a horrible experience. Since solo queue pops take so long, I’ve been pugging team arena for the past couple of days. I consistently find myself in matches with guild groups of four r1 players on my team. I am sure the newbies try their best, but they just have no clue how to play their class, let alone in a tournament environment. Of course, these total blowout matches wouldn’t happen if you introduced a rank requirement for competitive pvp…
I wouldn’t advise anyone to pug team arena unless you have at least two buddies to queue with so you are able to carry two newbies. I’ve lost 95% of my team queue matches and the only reason I still queue up is for giggles. It is hilarious how many players die to Svanir or manage to never run over a node, not even by accident, throughout an entire game.
I believe there are a few guilds that exist solely to allow you to find people to Team Arena with. I’ll mention it to Josh, maybe we can increase their exposure.

Exactly right. It isn’t an easy thing to detect without creating incentives for certain ways of playing that could ruin game play as a whole.
With that you would also make a 4vs5 loose much more significant and painful. A 400 to 500 was already a good fight, and you team was almost even. I think you can get over one of those looses.
The problem is the other one, where you end up outnumbered, and you already get angry over this loss, I don’t think you should harm those poor guys further.
Right again. Leaving should always award you a full loss. I agree with the second part as well, we shouldn’t punish the remaining team just because they now have an unfair disadvantage. We can factor that into the equation though. Maybe we get the ratio after dividing the team scores by the number of players in the team.
New player playing with their first games 2-1 or 3-0 and ending up in the Top 10. Please take a look at those occurrences and adjust the system accordingly. Nobody will take your ladder or leaderboard or whatever serious when those things will happen.
One of the reasons I’m looking forward to the ladder system. I don’t think MMR was a good choice for leaderboards simply because it encourages players to distort them which ruins the quality of matchmaking as a whole.
What happens when the above behavior is not getting fixed in the new system?
I don’t think we’re ready to talk about ladder details yet, but my understanding is that it shouldn’t apply.
4vs5, people who are flaming / afking: Why are you not banning the players who are constantly doing this?
We are looking at ways to amp up the dishonor system so it is more effective. I believe we have a change coming on the 10th, but we will likely more in the future as well.
Even though the filtering should increase over time, it should also be restricted to not increase too much.
Agreed. I’m going to be writing all this so it can be tweaked via configuration files which will allow us to adjust them in response to the real world, without requiring a build.

Question
If there will be any change to the Commander Gating, does that mean everybody start from scratch? or current Commanders still get to keep their tags? Because I would hate to lose/get a refund on my tag. I saved hard for that when i had very little cash and would like to keep it.
I was just asking to get a sense of it really. : )
How hard would it be for you to prioritise something such as a requirement that each player press the “I’m ready” button within the match start time limit, else everybody is booted back to the lobby and rejoins the queue with the players they had already been matched with while the game searches for more?
It is already a priority and is likely to be done as part of the back-end server restructure.
If it wouldn’t take you that long to implement, why can’t you just include it in one of the bi-weekly PvE patches? It would improve SoloQ considerably with that change alone.
It would not be a simple change for the existing systems unfortunately. We also can’t just slip things in to random updates like that for many good reasons which I agree with but can’t get into on the forums.
I’m in the middle of writing an outline for the matchmaking blog, hopefully that will go out soon so you guys can at least see what proposals we have planned. We’ll also start a discussion around the proposal. I’m sure that together we can come up with something awesome and practical.

This might be worse, you may get communication sure. But Team Arena it seems like its more geared towards a dedicated group of pvpers.
The fact it is geared toward more dedicated pvpers is why I think the OP might enjoy it more. Though, I agree… there are some very good players in this arena and it can be very hard to win.
Between 4v5, skyhammer, being grouped with rank 5s and other clueless players….its frustrating. I can understand the OP perspective.

The worst part of all, your rating is tied to your wins and losses. But how is it your fault if you played well but everyone else did not? It would make sense for a static team to have a group lose and win ratio. But solo needs something better, like overall stats.
It’s the nature of the beast. PvP is a team sport, and that may sometimes suck in solo arena but do keep in mind other players are being treated the exact same way. I’m experimenting with ways to compensate for this as far as MMR and matchmaking is concerned, but I wouldn’t expect this to change for rewards or ladders.

I’m currently experimenting on my personal time with two things.
The first may be unnecessary if we use ladders as a matchmaking metric. If we do that, excluding the beginning of a season, you shouldn’t be matched as often with players at a lower skill level than your own.
Also, the reason I said players don’t have to carry is because the majority of the time (not always, I’ve seen the screenshots) the other team has players in the same situation as you. You aren’t really that unique as far as any individuals game goes, so it isn’t as one sided and unfair as many people seem to think.
Now that we’ve decided to keep ranks, I’m going to push for gating arenas, or at the very least using rank as a metric in matchmaking.

I’m not at the office at the moment, so I can’t speak for 100% certainty, but here’s a snippet of the blog:
Once this new system is in place, glory will be retired as a currency, and gold will be the standard currency across the game. All existing glory vendors will be removed at this time. We will give advance warning when this is coming so you can spend all of your existing glory before that happens.
Essentially, the vendor being added on December 10th is a temporary outlet for you to spend your glory until our long-term systems are in place and glory is removed.
There will not be a direct glory to gold conversion.
We haven’t 100% nailed down our final plans for ranks, considering we were just persuaded to keep them in. We’ll be able to talk about it a bit more once we’ve had some additional time to discuss it internally. I’m assuming we’ll change them somehow – the amount of time a player would need to invest to hit 80 just isn’t reasonable.
In case you missed it, we’re currently awarding wins 3x the normal amount of rank points in Solo Queue, and 5x the normal amount of rank points in Team Arena.
This was buried in another thread, but I figured a lot of people probably haven’t seen it.

We are aware of this and it will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
Thanks for the report. We are aware of this issue and it should be fixed in an upcoming patch. The issue is caused by regen being applied by poison. For now, if you avoid poisoning her, that will prevent the regen from being applied, and you should not encounter this issue. This is obviously a temporary solution until the fix makes it live.
Yep, sorry for the confusion. It’s when you accept the chest. That’s the time you get the bonus rank points and rewards.
You should now get 450 bonus points for a Solo Arena Win and 1000 bonus points for a Team Arena win. This is in addition to the the regular match rewards.
Summary of the past few pages:
General consensus is that the smaller bits that have been suggested would be enough to make the commander system much better for now and that it doesn’t require a complete tear down.
Outside of that there is a lot of discussion about the idea of a fully fleshed out squad system.
So, let’s say we’ve handled the commander side of it for now and just focus on a squad system. If we added a system for squad management, what are the top 3 things you would want it to do? Examples: Show squad position, allow for orders to be sent to individual players, provide health status of all squad members, etc.
This is a much larger project, but getting a sense of what people would want it to do can help provide bounds for the work.
Just to clarify, we boosting the rank points for win chests in SA and TA the end of match rewards will be the same for now.
