Due to an issue with Assassin’s Annihilation (a Revenant Grandmaster trait in the Devastation line), we are going to disable this trait until a bug can be corrected. You will be able to equip this trait, but be aware that the trait will not function until it is hot fixed.
We will address this issue as soon as possible, most likely early next week.
Linked worlds will have lower population caps for the purposes of server transfers. We will not be changing map caps.
Evan, would it be possible to freeze everyone’s old ranked MMR from Pre-leagues and re-enable that along with the old ranked matchmaking after every league season?
I think that’s what most players are asking for.
It’s not just because unranked has bad matchups from decayed or volatile MMR. It’s also a human nature issue from player perceptions. Unranked games typically have a more casual mindset, and as such people don’t really take the games as seriously.
We can create a new MMR that is used during off season, but it’d have the same problems as unranked in that it is dormant 8 weeks at a time. If we continued to use ranked MMR, would that be a problem for when the new season begins? Would people try to tank their MMR in the off-season to try and get easier matches?
Matchmaking will be volatile at the beginning of every off-season because loads of players are switching to an arena they haven’t played in 4-8 weeks. Players who only play unranked will distribute outwards during the season, and then not be in the exact right position once everyone else returns during off season. The other factor is that everyone’s glicko rating deviation will increase as they don’t play in unranked which will create more MMR swings for the first handful of games. The only perfect solution to this is to only ever have 1 queue available at time.
As for skilled opponents, this is really just a perception problem as some players don’t feel comfortable playing in a ‘Ranked’ mode (Plus the rank 20 requirement). In a perfect world matchmaking would just handle people who don’t take unranked seriously by way of their MMR dropping, but I understand the barrier to entry of ranked acting as a sort of filter.
Because of the way division cutoffs work, I would not want to open ranked arena during the off-season and keep the league-style of matchmaking. We would need to switch it to the old unranked matchmaking which would just be pre-leagues ranked arena.
wvw_rank is already exposed, though it requires the “progression” permission. Opened a tracking issue for exposing the ability lines.
I suspect this is an artifact of the map tiles needing to be regenerated. I’m going to try to get the new ones up sometime next week.
Nope; it isn’t something we’re likely to implement either due to the technical restrictions of our backend architecture.
A message from the World vs. World Team:
Hello Everyone!
The WvW World Linking Beta will be starting today at 11 AM PDT Friday (18:00 UTC Friday) for EU and 7 PM PDT Friday (2:00 UTC Saturday) for NA. When it begins several worlds will be linked to help even out WvW populations. We used factors like the world’s current rank and population numbers to define pairings. For NA we will be able to divide the total number of worlds in half, and give every world a partner. However, pairings for EU are a lot trickier, both because there is an odd number of total worlds, and because there is an odd number of specific language worlds. EU also has a greater number of well populated worlds, so it makes sense to link fewer worlds. The result is that a number of worlds in EU will not be linked.
We will be resetting glicko volatility and deviation for all worlds to the same value, but leaving their rating unchanged. What this means is:
Resetting glicko volatility and deviation also has the advantages of requiring no downtime! We considered resetting rating, but decided not to for this first beta of World Linking. For T1 worlds the rating itself will still be fairly accurate for the majority of players in those worlds. For new lowest tier, previously middle tier worlds, keeping their lower rating will still help prevent them from getting wiped by the T1 worlds. Keep in mind this is a beta, and in the future we may reconsider other options like a clean wipe or a weighted average, but for now we encourage you go check out World Linking!
As for the future, we may redistribute worlds as populations drift over time and because the system is flexible, we can potentially link 3 or more smaller worlds as appropriate.

Bug Fixes:
Last thing I need, and the Quaggan is still stuck in the rocks. So sad.
The second Superior Skelk Liver you need to craft either the Infused Tiger Milk or Infused Tiger Food seems to be bugged to not drop after already dropping one Superiro Skelk Liver. I’ve been personally farming for a little over 4 hours now, and yet to receive the drop. Been seeing alot of other players also encountering the same issue, because I still see them also trying to farm for it.
The response to these issues is further up in the thread. It’s known and is getting fixed, no eta but soon hopefully.

Still, I think they could have implemented better system that allow us to choose and to not push people to only do swamp.
It was actually intentional that you would not be able to choose the daily Fractals. We want to reward players for playing all of the different Fractals, not just for playing a couple of them over and over again.
We did want to add more ways to acquire accessories, and in fact added them as a rare drop to some of the daily chests. I’m not sure if we want to go all-in and make them directly purchasable for relics at this point, though.
We’re looking into adding other things to spend Fractal Journals on, but I don’t think Golden Relics will be one of them. Journals are obtained only in the 1-50 range, while Golden Relics are obtained only in the 51-100 range.
What about Ranked do you want?
Is it standard models?
The type of matchmaking?
Is it the map selection? Now that the maps are updated, is this still an issue?
Do you want to climb the ladder until the the season resets?The ladder and match making would be nice.
I feel like 24/7 ladder would create a lot of burnout. Plus there wouldn’t be time for big balance patches to settle before the season starts.
Regarding matchmaking, it seems that two camps are developing. What about ranked matchmaking do you prefer over unranked?
What about Ranked do you enjoy more than Unranked during off-season?
Is it that you prefer climbing a ladder all the time? Or are there other particular reasons.

Hello Everyone!
We are starting to see a lot of feedback threads pop-up and the WvW team appreciates everyone who has taken the time to write up feedback and create threads. To help organize ideas into one place (this helps devs a lot) we are going to start creating threads on specific topics. Feel free to create your own threads as well, but if you have feedback on a specific topic for which we have created an official thread—like this one—I encourage you to post in that thread.
The cadence and topics for these threads will vary depending on a particular release date. For example we will be posting a Desert Borderlands map feedback thread, but we want to give everyone a little more time to play before creating that thread. There also will be threads coming that will allow the community to make suggestions on what they want the team to be working on going forward.

I know the patch and map changes have only been out for a short time, but I really appreciate the feedback that everyone is adding to this thread.
Definitely seeing this happen for several people on Step 7 of the journal. When you get to the top of the rock formation in Sparkfly Fen, there’s no tigers, despite their Health meters popping up.
Thanks, though we’re aware. This is happening with any Tiger fight. We’re still looking into a fix. If you can get everyone to leave the event area, then return after about 1 or 2 minutes, the event will reset and you can try to spawn it again. This is the only known workaround. Please note that the workaround may take a few tries to get it working.
Quoting myself above. The issue with the Tigers not spawning consistently is affecting each fight of the Collection 1 Hunter’s Journal sub-collection. The workaround given is not a guaranteed method to get it working, but it’s all that we have currently.
All of the other bugs mentioned in this thread above have already been reported, and we appreciate your help by providing that information. We’re working as hard and fast as we can to identify a fix for everything. Thank you for your patience.
Hey guys,
Your materials will still be in your Treasury. The treasury only shows items that a guild meets the prerequisites to build. When you regain the level from our bug fix yesterday, the upgrades will be able to be donated to again and any quantities held previously will still be in the Treasury waiting to be used. I apologize for this scare this caused, but rest assured – your donations are still there.

You’d have to contact customer support about that. We can’t reset your PS progress on that character to allow you to play that content once you’ve progressed past it.

We’re looking into this, but just in case – It looks like we accidentally bumped the interact point when we fixed the nameplate for the 4/19 build. To interact, some folks will need to stand on the machine. We’re looking at a fix, but until then – if this is what you’re encountering – you may want to access it by standing on it for now.

Just wrote a bug report on a bug not in this topic yet. The superior skelk meat from the jungle skelk champion in Mount Maelstrom only seems to drop once when you kill it for the first time. Unfortunately you need 2 to continue the collection. I can’t buy a spare from the legendary vendor in Lion’s Arch for karma either.
Spoke with someone else who had the same issue. We both camped it and killed it over and over, him a little more than myself.

The tigers are not spawning.
We’re aware of this issue and are looking into a fix. To work around it, just leave the event area (for this place, just going back down the snow cliff should work) for about a minute and let the event reset. This should help you get back on-track.
As well as the events “Rescue the villagers and defeat harpy kidnappers” and “Escort the quaggan emissary to the kodan camp” are currently bugged. Their is a villager in the top left corner that refuses to leave the nest hindering progress, and the quaggan gets stuck and stays in a rock. Can these get fixed please and thank you <3
We’re aware of both of these issues and are actively looking into fixes.
im stuck at sparkly fen with hunter journal 7/8 progress. Cant click anything on tigers` victim.
This is actually not a bug. The last tracks leading out of Sparkfly Fen are not part of the Hunter’s Journal collection and are just there to direct you to the next zone. Go through the zone portal on the right and look around for more tracks, and you should be back on-track.
For the Tier IV collection, I did not receive credit for unlocking the Mini Tiger Spirit from the Spirit of the Tiger achievement. I have it unlocked in the wardrobe but it hasn’t given credit towards this collection.
I completed this achievement, and unlocked the minipet, before getting to this the tier IV collection.
This is a known issue and is actively being addressed. Thanks!

The pre-event, escort the quaggan emissary regularly bugs out when the quaggan gets stuck in a rock.

As above, this is a known issue. Please note that the report on that link you provided is well over 2 years old and has since been addressed. However, it seems that this Quaggan is now breaking in a completely different way.
Saw an anet dev at the event just, asked when it would get fixed. His words:
“No clear ETA at the moment, we’re going to try to get the tiger hunt unstuck, which should be alot quicker but fixing the event will take a bit more time. Nothing can happen today unfortunately. sorry”Atleast we know they’re on it
Yup! We’re working as fast as we can to help you all.
Reset time is unlikely to change. We picked the time slot based off player concurrency during the week and when it was least likely to disrupt coordinated players that raid multiple days in a row.

Spring is here and with it comes new changes to several of our PvP maps. With Season 2 coming to a close and the new Off-Season beginning, we’ve decided to release some much needed updates to our current map roster. Most notably, you may have caught some significant changes to both Skyhammer and Spirit Watch, the results of which have altered their overall gameplay pretty drastically. As such, we’ve actually placed “beta” tags on both of these maps for the time being because we’d like the community to play a role in evaluating the changes that we’ve made before we decide whether to keep any these updates moving forward. In addition, we want to get your input on whether either of these maps is now ready to be introduced into the Ranked queue at the start of the next League Season.
So here’s what we’d like to do: We’ve created this thread to try and consolidate all of your feedback with regard to PvP map changes in a single location. That way we can get a discussion going, read all your thoughts, and also reply with some of our own in one spot. So, take a look at the notes for all of the PvP map changes here, then queue up for some Unranked Arena and play through the updates yourself. Once you’ve done that, if you have any thoughts on any of the maps that we’ve updated—especially Skyhammer and Spirit Watch—then just pop back in here and let us know.

We’ve identified where things went astray and are working on a fix. Thank you for your reports!
Yeah, those upgrade events have a zero’d out user id in the raw event data generated by the map instance servers. This is an issue that we’re aware of, but I don’t really have any visibility into since it’s fairly far outside my area. Hopefully one day it’ll be fixed
Which guild? I need the name/id to pull the data and see what’s going on.
I have a feeling that, under certain conditions, the server generating the data doesn’t log out the user id. I’ve gotten a report or two about this previously, but haven’t been able to track down exactly why this happens :/
The missing achievements are because the achievements have never been completed before and need to go through a manual whitelist step (e.g., I have to click a button before they appear on the API). It’s less than ideal but necessary to stop stuff from appearing on the API too soon. All the ones in the list should be whitelisted now.
Going to try to whitelist achievements a day in advance (or maybe set up a script to automatically whitelist dailies) because the setup is currently sub-optimal. Until that’s done, please bear with my slowness :<
I’ll try to figure out what’s going on with the double ids — there might be a new flag that’s not exposed.
EDIT: Yeah, there’s some new stuff that’s not exposed. Here’s a tracking issue; I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get the fix out (best case is with the next release).
