The user field should be appearing already — it is on my local server. I’m also not seeing the duplicate entries locally. Could you PM me an API key with guild access and the guild ID you’re looking at? That’ll help me track down what’s broken.
Not currently; /v2/recipes/search doesn’t currently look at guild ingredients. Here’s a tracking issue for the feature.
Is this just going to keep happening every day?
Yes. Sorry.

That’s cool to hear – thanks for the reply!
Dear Papa Grouch,
What’s up with Stronghold? Any plans for it? Updates (besides new champions), fixes? Maybe start some official feedback thread for it. It’s sad to see new game mode being, more or less, dead in Legendary division. It’s been some time since last major updates (that were made back in Beta Weekends I think) and I haven’t seen any mention of this new game mode in Mike O’Brien’s posts, just in AMA that new map is eventually coming, if I remember correctly.
It’s sad to see a new game mode that has potential dropping so low in interest due to no fixes that during official ESL Stronghold tournament no ESL admin even bothers to show up.
Stronghold definitely isn’t going anywhere, but our priority right now is conquest – both old and new.
I looked into this and the thread is in the process of getting reinstated.
That Fortran reference was one of my two faves. The other:
- Due to the chaotic nature of magic, bloodstone dust no longer stacks.
Even knowing it was a joke, I mentally cried “aaaaiiiiyeeeeeee” when I saw it.

I think most players do not appreciate how threads like this (and Anet’s) disrupt the forum goer’s experience, especially those who participate heavily in arguments with other players. We come here for a specific reason and cannot abide time spent on anything remotely fun or jovial.
In the future, they should try and make sure that these threads are only seen by non-forum-pvpers by disabling visibility specifically in those instances and for those players where it may interfere with ongoing 1000+ post back and forth arguments, most importantly those kept alive by 3 or fewer players.
This should be easy enough to do as we all know that programmers (and by extension, forum representatives) can do anything perfectly with a few hours notice – they simply choose not to due to their pure hatred of anything fun or game affirming.
My gosh, you’re right! We’ll get right on that. Change coming in… 3, 2, 1 hour…

They don’t appear in the whitelist queue until someone’s completed them. For normal achievements, there’s an additional caveat that a request to /v2/account/achievements will automatically whitelist any results — but dailies are not current returned from that endpoint, so they’ll probably only appear around 10:30AM PST Mon-Fri :/
General
- Fully customizable UI has been added, with scripting support for Ada, COBOL, and Fortran.
- All fine and masterwork gear now comes in blister packs. Blister packs must be triple-clicked to open and have a chance to inflict bleeding.
- All food items can now spoil. Spoilage rates are determined by the ingredients in the recipe.
- Fixed a bug that prevented players from entering Super Adventure Box on live servers.
- Due to the chaotic nature of magic, bloodstone dust no longer stacks.
World vs. World
- Added the new Siege Reactivator trick, which reactivates siege equipment that has been disabled via the Siege Disabler trick.
- Added the Super Siege Disabler trick, which prevents reactivation via the Siege Reactivator trick.
Structured Player vs. Player
- Increased the size of all PvP badges while not in PvP.
- Added retaliation to all target golems.
Fractals
- In order to streamline the experience of Fractals of the Mists, every fractal has been replaced with Swampland.
- Removed all terrain and environment assets from the Mossman encounter. Players will now engage the Mossman in a featureless, gray, circular room, and this is why we can’t have nice things.
- Fixed a bug that allowed ascended boxes to drop from fractal daily chests.
Mystic Forge
- Added toilet-flushing sound effect on use of the Mystic Forge.
Dungeons
- All dungeons now penalize failure and have been darkened based on their difficulty. Dying in lighter dungeons will delete items or currency, but dying in the darkest ones will delete your character.
Profession Skills
Elementalist
- Removed fire attunement.
- Added dual keyboard support to better support proper elementalist key binding.
Dragonhunter
- Now deals 50% bonus damage to dragons and their minions.
- Aegis now ends after 5 attacks instead of 1 attack.
Scrapper
- Now gains bonus items when salvaging.
- Elixir X now uses a random skill from all skills, including monster skills.
Chronomancer
- Fixed an exploit that allowed chronomancers to go back in time and kill their opponents in PvP before the match began.
- Portal’s recharge has been removed, and the colors of the effects have been changed to blue and orange.
Necromancer
- Death shroud can now only be activated from the downed state.
- Scepter autoattacks now apply fear.
Revenant
- Coalescence of Ruin: Increased damage, range, number of targets, and area of effect while in WvW.
- Added a Kilroy Stonekin legend. All skills cause you to run at the closest enemy and scream “KILROY STONEKIN!”
Thief
- Stealth no longer ends when you attack.
- Steal now transfers ownership of a random weapon from your opponent to you.
Berserker
- Fixed a bug that allowed warriors to get kills in Ranked PvP.
- Hundred Blades: This skill’s number of attacks has been increased to 100 to properly match its name.

Bugfix in place according to this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-August-11-2015
Correct. Let us know if anything isn’t working in regards to this. Thanks!
VoD is still bugged. my wife is trying to finish her story line and she cant interact with the cannons. i’m putting this up because…. well, its better if i do it. (this is the 2nd story line that has crashed on her in a week)
Are you and your wife still experiencing issues with the cannon interactions in Victory or Death? This was fixed a while ago and shouldn’t be happening.
yes, still bugged. this is the first time she has tried doing it since and i was in the party. she gets into the airship and nothing triggers at the cannons. she is quite frustrated at this point.
I couldn’t reproduce this. Please message me if this is still blocking your progress. Thanks.
Please please discuss your individual situation with the Customer Support Team. This is not a matter that can be succinctly and accurately portrayed, it’s not a one-size-fits-all situation. CS will look at your personal situation and will let you know how they can help you.
Again, Customer Support will do their level best to help you, but you need to discuss with them. There’s no value in making this a forum discussion, because there are too many variables to make sweeping statements.
Thanks for understanding.

RE: DotaCoach -> that’s a pretty slick website – thanks for sending it over. I’ve seen some initiatives like this run on our forums in the past. I’ll mull it over and see if there’s something a bit more structured we could do.
RE: Balance -> Contrary to popular belief, the PvP team (or wvw, fractals, raids, etc) doesn’t actually handle profession balance. There’s an entirely separate team dedicated to handling balance for all core areas of the game (appropriately named the Balance team). The PvP team (and the other aforementioned teams and more) gives regular feedback on balance issues, but the balance team is ultimately in charge of maintaining the design vision across the game.
For reference, the PvP team is focused on infrastructure -> PvP Leagues and maps, for example.
Re: visibility -> agreed!
Edit: heading home for the evening. Will check back tomorrow.
Stop on by and see all the crazy-good art created by the GW2 community. Maybe even see your own piece featured!
We’ll be trying out a few new things with the show this month and we may have a special guest, too!
As always, please keep in mind that we make selections early each month to prep for the show. I’m mostly done curating for the April show, but that show will include selections from the forums and our Tumblr page dated back to early in the year, even one from 2014! So clearly, it’s never too early or too late to submit. When you do, watch CSL each month to see if your art is featured or just to enjoy what our amazing community creates!
Please join Lizzie and me on Wednesday, April 13th, at Noon Pacific. We look forward to seeing you!

Hi Frands,
I haven’t had much time to spend on the forums as of late and as a result I’ve unfortunately been mostly mum on these types of threads. Since many of you are fresh faces and didn’t visit the forums back when I used to frequent more often, I’ll reintroduce myself (in tl;dr format), and after that we’ll get down into the nitty gritty.
I’ve been at ArenaNet for a little under 3 years. Prior to that, I was a PvP fan just like yourselves. I ran multiple GW2 PvP-specific podcasts, hosted GW2Guru’s State of the Game (wow, that’s old), managed some of the earliest tournaments such as Curse’s Masters of the Mists, and casted dozens of other events (including the first ESL tournament and the 2013 Pax Invitational). Little known fact – in the early days I even played on Team Paradigm NA with Phantaram as well as a number of other teams. I was offered a job at ArenaNet in 2013, and after moving around to a few different teams I ended up on the marketing team as a Brand Manager. My time isn’t dedicated entirely to the PvP (I work with a number of other dev teams), but I am for all intents and purposes the “commissioner” of Pro League and most other events that we’ve run in the past.
Ok, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s address the OP’s question → “200k on pros, why?”
Competitive play is something we’ve always been a fan of at ArenaNet – you could say that it’s a part of the company’s DNA, and it’s something we’re committed to supporting just like any other part of our game. The PvP team has been working hard to take PvP from where it was at launch to where it is today (seriously, think about it) and the marketing team has been keen on supporting them. Together we grew the active player-base for PvP by 135% last year – and that’s pretty awesome. After all, things like matchmaking quality and queue times gets better the more people that you have. It’s more or less my job to try to figure out how to replicate that growth as much as possible, and after looking at all the options available for the marketing team, we decided to go down an admittedly riskier path and dedicate some of our budget towards the Pro League initiative. I’ll add that most of Pro League’s costs were funded out of our paid media budget which fuels the advertising banners you’ve probably seen displayed on a variety of websites (or maybe you don’t, because it’s 2016 and you use ad-blockers, which is why initiatives like this are so important!).
There’s certainly a unique opportunity for growth here. We get to talk about our game in new interesting ways with an entirely new group of gamers – some of which may never had been interested in playing MMOs previously. It’s not often that you get to do that.
I think the main takeaway is that Pro League in no way takes away from development for any other aspects of the game (but I can understand how that assumption could be made), but the upside here is that when any part of the game grows – the entire game benefits. We’re not trying to make GW2 into a PvP MMO – it’s just one of the many facets of the game that we all love and want to see be even more successful.
Anyways, I’ll keep an eye on the thread for questions over the next few days, so feel free to AMA!
These are simply wonderful! Thank you for sharing.

4. If this isn’t possible, is there a way to request images to be added to the v2/files/ endpoint other than listing them sparsely through forum/github posts?
Having separate github issues for each bundle of file requests is the easiest way for me to keep track of things. I’ll toss all your requests onto this issue since I haven’t started rooting around for the last batch yet.
This is normal — there’s a manual whitelist step before new stuff can show up on the API.
They should start appearing later today.

Hi all,
This week we’re completing dev work and starting integration for the upcoming Spring Quarterly Update, which we’re preparing to launch in mid- to late April. It’s a busy week making sure everything comes together right and hits our quality bar.
I know that the discussion around legendary weapons is still fresh on everyone’s mind. But as we’re locking in the contents of the quarterly update, there are some specific things I should tell you about today.
The quarterly update will include changes to Fractals, and among those will be changes to the tiering structure. We’ll have to retire two of the current achievements, Casual Fractal Hero and Core Fractal Hero. While we’ll introduce new achievements to replace the ones we’re retiring, any progress made toward the old achievements will not count toward the new ones. If you’ve been working toward the old achievements, you have a few weeks or so left to wrap them up.
With the quarterly update we’ll also reduce scribing costs across-the-board. Here are some of the ways that will happen. We’ll reduce material costs on recipes: for example the Basic Ink Set will no longer require a Simple Ink Set, and each Sandpaper recipe will now require less Sand. Reducing the demand for basic materials will reduce their prices. We’ll add significant new supplies of Resonating Slivers, so that they no longer serve as a barrier to scribes who don’t have a guild supporting them. And we’ll increase drop rates of certain other components. These are going to be impactful changes, so we want to give you this advance notice, and encourage you to consider pausing here and waiting for the quarterly update before doing a lot of new scribing.
Two weeks ago we polled the WvW community about Desert versus Alpine borderlands. The majority of players asked us to bring Alpine back. We’ll do that. It actually takes quite a bit of time to dust off old content and bring it up to the current game state, so it won’t happen in time for the quarterly release. Instead we’ll launch the quarterly update with improvements to Desert, use that as an opportunity to get the community’s feedback on those changes, then we’ll swap to Alpine when it’s ready. Changing borderlands maps like this will disrupt matches in progress, but we think that making changes on live servers, where everyone can test, is worth the cost.
I wanted to give this early heads-up about these areas. You already know quite a bit more about the things we’re working on for the April Quarterly Update, but I’ll stop here for now. I think our jobs are to delight you with what we ship, not with big talk or big promises. So hang tight. Release day will be here soon enough.
Mo
Thank you all again for continuing to post updates and screenshots; as well sending bugs to us through the bug report tool. You all have been patient and shown us a lot of grace and good will while we seek a solution.
Unfortunately we’ve not yet been able to pin down what in the guild mission system is causing this issue to afflict your guilds when it comes to the missions in the UI freaking out before and after objectives are completed. Similarly, we’ve not been able to identify what causes the issues with the WvW challenge for the puzzle. We are continuing to investigate them and apologize for the continued disruptions to your missions.
Looking over the server logic for when an entity dies, it’s roughly like this:
1. If the entity being killed was an NPC, stop.
2. Increment deaths for the killed entity’s team.
3. If the last hit on the killed entity was by an NPC, stop.
4. Increment kills for the last team to hit.
(okay, for a second I thought the problem was “kills are higher than deaths” which really threw me for a loop — that shouldn’t be possible).
Deaths are higher than kills likely caused when someone is killed by an NPC affiliated with a team (e.g., failed to solo a camp or ate SM lord’s meteor during a brawl), it’ll count as a death (since the NPC is team-affiliated) but not as a kill (since the last-hitter is not a player).
A player killing an NPC (team-affiliated or otherwise) definitely does not increment the deaths counter.
I’ve got a vanilla javascript example for rendering emblems. It’s not ideal, but it mostly works.
There’s also gw2w2w.com which a lot of sites hotlink to (you’ll probably want to ask permission first) — but their rendering backend is available on github if you want to stand up your own instance or check out how they’re rendering emblems (it’s a nodejs application).
It’s not currently possible, but it’s a feature that’s being looked into. Here’s the tracking issue on Github, which has some more discussion.
What are some suggestions for Legendary Titles?
Dunno If it’s possible, but it would be really cool at the end of s4, having an achievement + title like “Ascension Legend” unlocked only If you reached in every season the legendary division (so you already have all primordial , exalted etc. Titles).
Really “legendary”
Interesting. . .
Alright let’s say that you need to include “Legend” in the title. What titles would you suggest?
What are some suggestions for Legendary Titles?
Hey everyone,
I wanted to just chime in here and make some things clear as they may not be clear.
The “Year of The Ascension” achievement do not reset/clear between seasons. Whatever progress you have carries over to the next season.
If you can’t/don’t get the legendary if a specific year then there will be another way to obtain that specific backpack. I can’t go into any details on that, but you WILL be able to get previous years backpacks in some way.
We also understand the frustration of players and matchmaking this season and will do our best to make some changes for Season 3.
The lighting change was, in fact, a bug.

The WvW team is making the changes to reset time and have to put it into maintenance mode to do so. See updates here:
Thanks for all the comments. I know there’s nothing I’m going to say that will make you feel better, but I’ll share some final thoughts for the night.
I said three weeks ago I’d focus on sustainability and quality. I want to reiterate the part about sustainability. Be angry about legendary weapons, sure, but how about the recent drought of content? That kind of thing happens when we spread ourselves too thin, and when we let the content development pipeline empty out so we can fight fires. What I think we actually owe you is sustainable, predictable, high-quality content. I’m making a decision that’s painful in the short-term so we can position ourselves to deliver that.
Consider this… HoT currently has: 3 new maps (which are still buggy looking at DS) which are grindy as hell, Elite Specs which are heavy powercreep (pay to win in PvP…), a Story which is short but at least good (if you ignore the myriad of bugs f.e. in the Mordi battle), Guild halls, 2 Raids with 5 1/2 bosses, a new PvP map (which is quite unbalanced) and now only 4 legy weaps (3/4 being rarely used thanks to being underpowered or buggy)… That’s it?
I previously addressed the “half an expansion” thing, and I can point you to pages like this one and this one (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2:_Heart_of_Thorns), but that doesn’t matter because it’s just arguing. My job is to entertain you, not to argue with you.
I strongly believe that we will in fact entertain you. We’re a team of people who love the game that you love, and are working on things we’re confident you’ll love. But I’m not here to convince you of that, and I wouldn’t expect you to take my word for it. You can make that judgment in April, and each subsequent time we ship. I will work to make you happy, and I’ll do it by making you happy with what we ship, not with what we promise to ship.

Bug fixes:
- Fixed a bug that would allow players who used an airship pass in Gendarran Fields to attack NPCs.
- Fixed a server crash.
Guild Merchant can non-hot players use it?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Dara Potocska
Heya Reapex!
The General Merchant should not require HoT for you to interact with them.
We’ve enabled and disabled the AirShip pass a few times today. Unfortunately, the airship pass continues causing serious server problems and so I disabled it once again about 30 minutes ago.
Not having the Airship pass working can be frustrating for players — I know this from a personal level. So, I’ve flagged this as a very hot bug to be fixed. Several people are looking into it currently and as soon as there is a proven fix (even if discovered over the weekend) I will see that the Airship passes are re-enabled.
I apologize for the temporary grounding of the airship.
Maybe not the place to ask this, but is the legendary backpack for fractals still on the table?
Have to ask Mike, but…does this also apply to legendary armor?
We’ll deliver both. This is about legendary weapons.
Mo
Obviously I go into this knowing that some players will be very upset. That’s why it’s such a tough decision.
Ankdarkwolf, Darkmikau, Ballads, Spira, Caerbannog, Cysgod, you each posted a variant of an accusation I’ve seen many times over the past few months on the forums, something along the lines of, “AN shipped half an expansion with HoT.” I take issue with that. We shipped a new region full of content, a new mastery system, gliding, guild halls, a new profession, nine new elite specializations for existing professions, and more. Then we shipped precursor journeys for existing legendaries, and said, “We’ve been working hard on new legendary weapons, the first handful of which will be introduced in Heart of Thorns, with more to come in subsequent updates.” While I fully get that you’re disappointed today, this is not about us shipping half an expansion pack.
Mo
Nero and Onevstheworld, you asked if this means that LW can come sooner than July.
Full story episodes have a long lead-time. But I don’t think LW content has to be all about the episodes. So… maybe.
But I’m not here today to make predictions or promises. I’d rather we start by shipping, then talk about what we shipped.
Mo
