Hey guys, no mystery here! I’m a member of several guilds. So that was me, but I was flying another guild’s “colors” at that particular time. I want to move around and join more guilds over time. Of course, if that means leaving the ones to which I currently belong, that’s a heartwrench, but I know those fine people would understand.
I play about 3 hours every night and every weekend for a ridiculously longer amount of time. Well, unless we’re doing family stuff or I’m traveling, of course.
I enjoy repping Anet, so don’t ever hesitate to say “howdy” so I can do that same! If I don’t answer, it may be that I’ve stepped away to answer an e-mail or do other RL stuff. And frankly, if I’m on a JP, I’ve probably already died 3,194 times, and I’m probably going to ignore the message. Y’all understand that, right? ) But it’s always a pleasure to get to know our players!
One thing I probably should add: Suggestions, requests for support help, feedback, etc., need to go on the forums. I am not avoiding players when I suggest that, it’s just that the forums are the way to go about such requests, and in the case of suggestions, there are legal reasons for using the forums.
I wonder how many Achievement points that’s worth. Better check your Hero Panel, maybe there’s a title.

There might be a reason it’s like that, there might not. The icons returned by the API are the same textures used in-game; unfortunately I don’t have much insight into how art works.

Depends on which version of the Slubling you are fighting. There are 2 basic versions of the Slublings, a melee version, and a ranged. The melee ones don’t create projectiles so there’s nothing to reflect there. The ranged ones can be reflected. When the Slublings ramp up later in the phase and turn into Evolved Slublings, the projectiles can no longer be reflected.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, we will definitely look at this. It is quite often a hard balance between what we think an area would sound like if it was real and what we “want” it to sound like. But you are right, areas that we spend a lot of time in need extra care to make sure the sounds don’t make you want to leave:). Thanks.

A good suggestion, thank you Jon but, what does “On Demand” actually mean?
Could you please tell us what ramifications a player will incur by changing to that setting?
i.e.
- will the game only load the map you are currently in or will it maybe load all maps you have at one time visited?
- will each new map you go to have a noticeably longer load time?
- will the other not demanded content trickle download?
- will personally never used content, like PvP, Raids and Fractals never get downloaded?
Just a bit more information will enable us to make a more personally informed decision.
The On Demand setting only downloads new information as it is needed to display the game in its current state. As such, any maps you have not already downloaded or been to will not be downloaded until such time as they are needed.

- Fixed a bug that prevented new boss kills from unlocking the vendor’s associated boss rewards.
- The raid vendor now properly sells Chests of Medium Coats.
- Salvation Pass
- Fixed a bug that caused the Sacrifice skill to occasionally target dead or downed players.
- Fixed a bug that caused Slothasor to reset randomly without warning.
- Revival checkpoints are now properly set to the ruins if players enter the raid after completing the “Cull the bandits in the ruins” event.
- Fixed a bug in Slothasor’s Den that allowed players to stand on rubble from the cave-in and attack Slothasor.

So I was in Spirit Vale and I was about to buy one of the Talismans from the vendor which you have to kill Vale Guardian to unlock. But then our raid leader said for people to logout and get the update so I did that. Now the Talismans are locked and I can’t buy them :/
The Talismans are rewards from Sabetha, and they should require killing her to purchase. In fixing the bug where killing bosses wasn’t unlocking the boss rewards, that restriction was corrected, though the text won’t accurately reflect it until the next non-hotfix build.
I’ve freed everyone in this thread. Please post if you are still stuck.

I’m not sure where this was posted on Reddit, but anyone can claim something is written by an ANet employee. Always make sure to check for the ANet flair on Reddit or a reference to one such post on an official ANet communication channel before buying into anything that people claim is said by ANet.

We probably can’t find every post that’s made on the forums in order to validate “Yes, we said that” or “Nope, that’s bogus.” So it’s good for forum members — here or elsewhere — to be a little skeptical about “Anet statements” until they can actually see it on our official website or forum or get a link to a genuine (and proven/flagged) post by an ArenaNet Team member.

Thanks for your comment Rose. From what we know about the bug it looks like it affected very few players. And I’m glad we were able to fix it early in the season.
I fixed this issue yesterday with a server side patch not associated with any specific game update.
I didn’t even realize the Bandit Trio was the second boss for the first few attempts. Thought it was a pre-event. The achievement for that boss seems like it will be a bit more difficult. It was a nice change of pace with something different than just going after the boss. It did seem a little out of place though.
We ran into an issue where the achievement was impossible under the current balance of the encounter, so we reduced the difficulty and balanced around that instead. I would definitely recommend giving that a go.
Andy’s already working on a fix for this.

The bug was essentially some matches were incorrectly cancelled (for reasons too lengthy to explain here) and so there isn’t really a record of them that we could pull that data from.
Yes, just to add to this – we were able to get a good repro of this issue and deployed a fix today at 4 pm PST. Please let us know if you continue to experience the problem.
I’d like to thank the community for the various screen shots, etc. that showed this problem. That was very helpful in finding the bug.
Ray has pushed a fix that should get rid of this problem.

So sorry that I didn’t share this earlier, but there is an excellent player-prepared synopsis here.
By my reading, the bank sorts minis alphabetically. The hero panel sorts against {locked, order, name} in that order, i.e. two minis with the same order value will be sorted by name.
Let me know if I’m totally wrong and I’ll dig around some more.
Players have to be disconnected for two minutes before they get dishonor and the other players on the team get a forfeit instead of a defeat.

Yes, I believe there will be discussions with forum members as changes are being contemplated, although of course that will come from someone actively involved with the development of WvW.

iZakari — Agree, except “constant” and “continuously” may be difficult. If someone is talking about the game, they can’t be developing the game, and we all agree development is key. I’m thinking “frequent” or “regular” have a nice ring to them. Agree?
Baldrick — current information gathering enhances what the devs already have gleaned from their own gameplay, observation, tester input, and forum commentary. It’s not a new initiative. Devs are assigned to WvW, you can be assured of that. (Just as you can be assured that no one has ever spoken for me but me. I’m the same person who joined ArenaNet in 2000, and I’m the only one who uses this name. Whatcha think, I’m a made-up identity, a la Betty Crocker? )

Since that update yesterday my client is trying to download over 30k files, i left it downlaoding today as I have slow internet and I’ve downloaded 1.6gb and still 28k files to go, this is the patch size? or something gone wrong?
It seems odd that it would take so long, but of course I don’t know the details of your ISP and download speeds.
You could simply close the client and re-open it. There would be no risk in doing that, because the system is designed to intuitively “know” which files you have and which you need. This means you won’t start all over again. Restarting could help and wouldn’t hurt, is my thought here.
Even if you don’t have hot, your still downloading the same things.
Change your streaming settings to “On Demand” …

Thank you guys for the questions and continued concerns about the WvW missions and the Oasis event. I apologize to you all that these changes didn’t make it into the notes so you all might have prepared yourselves a bit. I’ve gathered a little more information for you that hopefully will explain a little more about the decisions.
It has been explained to me that up till today that players in WvW encountered consistently poor performance issues when the Oasis event would run on the maps. Our server team tried several potential solutions in an attempt to stabilize this, as did the WvW team with content adjustments – but neither side was able to stabilize performance with the things they implemented. We have been attempting adjustments every few weeks, and with each attempt the performance was not improved.
Rather than making many players suffer longer under the performance issues while we continue to look for a fix that works, the decision was made as a team to disable the event. And as the guild mission was tied to this event and had been experiencing issues, we took it out of the rotations till both our teams (WvW and Guilds) can see to it being fixed. I cannot offer an eta for a fix at this time.
From the Guilds team, we currently have no plans to pull additional WvW missions. And we’re still actively investigating issues and looking into potential (and stable) fixes for all our mission (and reward) issues. Thank you again everyone and may the rest of your day and week be filled with relaxation and/or the slaughtering of your enemies.

We are indeed working on this issue (it’ll be added to the Known Issue Tracker shortly. Unfortunately it’s proven a very difficult one to solve. We’ll keep you posted on the progress, though.
