There’s a dialogue box that pops up when you crash to send the details to ArenaNet. Some crashes don’t generate this but most do.
Well, this may be a mac thing Lauren, but I’ve yet to have a single crash where this happened. Do you know what types of crashes do not launch the crash reports?
Unfortunately on OSX this reporter doesn’t appear. However, samples from activity monitor help. I don’t have the instructions off the top of my head but I will get them and reply back to you.
This trap applies healing and regeneration to the guardian only, but blind to all enemies in the trap’s radius. The guardian’s position when the trap triggers doesn’t matter.
Suicide can be tricky to implement as narrative device in the best of popular media…on the one hand it’s part of life and not having it in your simulated world can create some loss of fidelity. On the other hand, not only is it a very mature subject that may or may not fit the overall tone of a game like GW2, but it’s really tough to do stories about suicide well…and I actually know something about that, as one of the quests I designed for launch was (in my view, at least) actually about suicide, but I don’t think anyone ever clued in on it because of some self editing I did to leave player’s interpretation of the events open:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Megin_Volkman_search_for_her_missing_son
In this event’s story, I was trying to convey that Samm, the firstborn son of the Volkmans, was a troubled young man despite evidence that he clearly has a loving family. As you follow the mother and her remaining children searching for him, I wanted players to question what happened to this young man. On the surface of it, it really just looks like a mother looking for her missing son, but with these really disturbing underlying questions about why Samm just wandered off into danger with seemingly no weapons and no way to survive…
I went for this subtle approach because I was really afraid that just coming out and saying that “Samm found a particularly gruesome way to commit suicide” would be way too grim for a game with a Teen rating (and probably wouldn’t have survived my initial draft anyway).
I agree that as the game industry continues to mature, any subject matter should be on the table, but it can be really challenging to craft those kinds of narrative moments in a way that doesn’t feel trite or that doesn’t downplay the very real and tragic circumstances surrounding subjects like this.
Concerning the boost:
If you purchase the boost, you will have the time it takes to make a tick of aetherium reduced by 5% (this applies to all available influence to aetherium boost changes).
For example:
1 aetherium may be mined per 60 seconds before the boost.
1 aetherium may be mined per 57 seconds after the boost.

Scrap Rifle Adventure Leaderboard Information
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Mark Katzbach
Due to an exploit in the Scrap Rifle Adventure, we had to temporarily close access to the adventure. The exploit has been closed, and access has been re-enabled, but since some players were able to achieve high scores that cannot be earned naturally, we have opted to wipe the leaderboard to give everyone a clean slate to compete against their friends and guild members. We apologize for any inconvenience, and happy Chak hunting!
Hey friends,
I wanted to give you a heads up that this is being looked into. Thank you for your patience!
It looks like you increased the healing a bit to compensate for the change, which makes sense, but perhaps more importantly, did you guys consider scaling the lifeforce generation up from 1% to 1.5% for example?
We did consider increasing the lifeforce gain, but some preliminary tests showed that you could generate a very large amount of lifeforce from only a few skills so we didn’t end up increasing it. If the trait ends up under-performing in the future that’s probably the first place we’ll look for improvements.
Bug Fix:
- Fixed a server crash in Heart Of The Mists
I guess necromancers need to live in their own instances apart from the rest of the game, not being able to support or receive support
I’m fairly confident that boons will still apply their effects to necromancers even if this trait is not equipped.
There’s a hotfix for this issue underway.
-Bill
About to push a hotfix for this. Sorry about that.
-Bill
To provide some context on this change:
We felt that Blighter’s Boon was providing too much survivability, especially with the amount of boon output that Heralds and Tempests can provide. (This is especially true in WvW and large PvE Zergs). I did like the interaction this trait had with your allies, but boon application from allies is too broad of a category for us to reasonably balance in all modes of the game.
We considered a lot of other possibilities for this skill including adding an ICD, limiting the procs to specific boons, limiting the number of procs from allies, but the majority of these types of fixes ended up taking agency and control away from the reaper which we felt wasn’t optimal.
Ultimately we felt this change helped to make the trait more specific to some builds rather than the best trait in all situations.
EDIT: It seems like there is some confusion about the reasons behind the change. Even though I use PvE and WvW as an example, we think it’s providing too much in all areas of the game, PvP included.

I’m testing a fix for being in combat on respawn internally. Suprisingly, ranger pets getting hit when you respawn does not put you in combat.

Hey guys,
We are actively working on a fix for this issue.
Looks like any damage you deal after being defeated will cause you to be in combat after you respawn. This could include engineer mines, necro downed 3 well, etc.

I forgot to add it. Sorry, should have it up today.
Will try to get the Revenant stuff in today — the assets in /v2/files won’t be there for awhile as changing that requires a patch (and it’s not serious enough for a hotfix, I think).
Not currently, no.
Dear Heavenly Dwayna,
I laughed so loudly my co-workers told me to muzzle myself.

Well done, Neil, well done!

At the moment I am not aware of this problem on any other class I play (mainly engi). So it would atleast be very rare on those. I would say it happens 95% of the time for ranger.
On engis keep in mind that mines and stuff like that could legitimately cause a similiar experience but not bugged in this case.
I’ll check the mines, these may not clean up when you are defeated.

Hello, checking in with everyone. I have a few updates to share. There will be more later but I wanted to hit these first:
-snip-
OOM crashes
- Please continue to send your crash reports via the in game crash reporter with details about what you were doing and your system specs.
- The in game reporter is the best way to report crashes as they go directly to the programming team.
Lauren, where exactly is the in-game crash reporter? When I experience crashes my screen freezes for a moment and then goes to my desktop. I’ve never seen an in-game crash reporter. I do see a support link on the menu when I press escape and I can submit a bug, but there is not category to submit crashes. Am I looking in the wrong spot to provide a crash report?
There’s a dialogue box that pops up when you crash to send the details to ArenaNet. Some crashes don’t generate this but most do.
Wow, didn’t expect a response on this subject so quickly. I would recommend moving this to Ranger forum though for more in depth information. As far as I can tell, when a Ranger falls in combat and respawns, the pet first reanimates at the position of the player’s death. This momentary spawn allows for an opening in which the pet can be hit either directly or by triggering ambient effects, essentially placing the player in an immediate combative state.
I know exactly of the ranger pet respawn, but suspect there is more related to the in-combat on respawn issue.
Just with rangers as far as I can tell. It’s possible other pets like necro minions might do it as well though.
Necro minions should die when you’re defeated, and they don’t respawn like ranger pets.

Is this the only time you can be in combat on respawn? I fixed a bug some months back where just getting cleaved to death would leave you in combat on respawn for any class. I still experience this bug on Live though, but it could only be when I’m playing ranger and I haven’t noticed.

As an FYI – If you choose to attack with Tizlak the first time, you don’t get sent to Scout Acan. We only track the first choice you make in story missions – replay let’s you choose a different path to experience it, but it doesn’t alter your initial decision so if your first time through you chose to defend with Ibli, that’s the decision that gets recorded on that character.
I’ve been battling this bug unsuccessfully since day one, and it’s not related to the state of the map directly, but rather it’s a case that he can get broken after some amount of time, or after some unspecified actions, and when new map instances spin up he will be fixed because he will be in a “fresh” state (before whatever breaks him takes place). That’s why logging out and logging in or guesting to another server can work – there’s a chance that when you do that, you’ll end up in a different map instance which carries with it a chance that the NPC will be working.
Because this problem’s been particularly hard to diagnose (there really is nothing that I can see that should cause him to break) rather than keep you all blocked, I just checked in a new fix for this afternoon’s hotfix that should clear this up for all players.
Sorry again for all the trouble this step has been causing. :-(
Wow — Shiny! That is a great design!

Hey friends,
The team is aware Mac users are unable to interact with any of the new guild hall panels and are investigating.
Couple of replies:
1. Ensign is, as usual, pretty dead on.
2. 12.6 Silver from key output is off from my understanding of that design, so I’m going to look into that.
3. A market like this isn’t going to crash, it could grow unhealthier over time, but that’s why we iterate.
Have you contacted customer support?
This particular error is not specific to Mac. It is being worked on. I do not have any more information than that.
If you haven’t done so already, I suggest you contact the customer support team.
All new paid accounts go through a verification process which can require several days. The timer you see only starts once you have a paid account.
We’ve got someone looking into the Greatest Fear successor story steps issue. I don’t have an ETA but wanted to let you know it’s being investigated. Thanks for your patience.
Can you post (preferably as attachments) your crash details (the text that appears in Show Details)?
This thread required a considerable amount of time to clean it up. Please do not fill it with attempted jokes, or with commentary that is irrelevant to the topic of not posting spoilers. There are many thread in which you can post your thoughts, but this is not one.
Unless you have a comment, question, or concern about the process of dealing with spoilers, please do not post in this thread.

Gaile, can we please get a mod looking at titles of some of the threads too? I came in today to post about something and got tons of spoilers as thread titles. I wont be back now until I finish the story I guess. -_-
If the topic has “Spoilers” I recommend that you don’t even open the thread, because you don’t have a way of knowing what is told, or when it will appear in the thread.

Regarding Phase Traversal, I just made a post about that on the revenant forums: here
This is a bug for sure, but unfortunately there isn’t a simple solution. For context, action camera intentionally does not auto select skill targets if they are out of range, which usually feels better for gameplay as most skills don’t work on out-of-range targets anyway. The exception cases were enemy-targeted shadowstep skills, such as Guardian sword 2, so I put in special logic to allow these skills to be used on a target when out of range, so long you aim at the target (though there is currently a bug with this when you have autotargeting off; see this post that I made over on the Thief forums). Specifically, the client knows whether or not to target the out-of-range enemy because the skill being used does preemptive path checking, where the skill is stopped early if no path to the target can be found.
The way Phase Traversal works is that it does a short dash and then a shadowstep toward the target, which is a pretty unusual thing. Because the majority of travel distance in the skill is from a shadowstep, it may make sense to flag this skill as needing a preemptive pathing check, so that you don’t waste it on unfavorable terrain; this would also immediately fix the described bug. However, at the same time, there is a non-zero component of travel that comes from the dash, so stopping the skill because of pathing might seem wrong in some cases. It is something that will have to be pondered.
