Every part of this thread is awesome.
An issue arose on Wednesday that caused some players’ Heart of Thorns map exploration to disappear. If your account was one of those that had the map exploration issue, it was temporarily disabled in order to correct the issue. The correction has been made to all impacted accounts, and those involved will find a nice little something in your in-game mail as a gift to thank you for your understanding. We’re sorry for any distress that the time-out caused — the team worked as quickly as they could to rectify the matter.
If your account has been blocked, suspended, or terminated for a reason other than the correction of the map exploration bug, please feel free to contact Customer Support and they will assist you.
It be nice of the dev team/ communications to actually communicate this BEFORE this gets done. It would take away a lot of stress from many people.
It was, if you bothered waching Dev Tracker it was very clearly explained what was being planned and it was announced when the process was about to start!
The dev. doing it was amazingly open and clear about how the problem was being addressed.
Thank you, Kraggy. The Dev Tracker is a marvelous thing, and it’s true that this situation was talked about several times before it took place.
mcwurth — I’m sorry that you missed that notification. I’m sure you can appreciate that in the overall scope of things, the few player whom it impacted would not warrant something as off-putting as a system-wide, in-game notification. Doing that would cause unnecessary stress and concern from potentially hundreds of thousands of players. Posting on the forums, as our dev did, seemed the best way to foreshadow such a singular incident that impacted so few players.
I am sorry for any stress that you were caused by not being aware of the brief, planned account reset period.

What about those players, like myself that have not been credited with a variety of map completions including Verdant Brink.. I thought there were reward items that could in turn block progress – what is happening about this bug???
I’m sorry, I don’t know about that. Could you kindly submit a ticket, since this is a different issue than the one covered in this thread? I believe that the Customer Support Team will be able to answer your question.
I can answer this one! It was addressed in another thread. There is indeed a different issue that is preventing people from getting map completion rewards. With this issue, your progress isn’t reset – you still have the map explored, you just don’t get a reward when you finish. We’re aiming to have it fixed in the next patch, so just go back to those maps next Tuesday to get your goodies. If for whatever reason the fix doesn’t make it in, we’ll keep you posted.
Kranodor – There are an awful lot of people playing Guild Wars 2 and I hope you will take the chance to reach out to some of them. You may find your soulmate after all!
I wish you well in the future.
I have The Dreamer. And I hear the sounds and, in fact, have had a few people ask me “What IS that sound” or “Can you disable that whinnying?”
I agree with Lauren, and I’ve been tracking this for a while: When I’m in a busy area, especially a boss fight zone, I seldom hear the bow. But when I’m out in the wild, I generally do hear it. I leave the analysis of bug/not a bug to those more expert than me, but in my personal case, I’ve attributed the loss of sound to the busy-ness of my area and nothing more.
I’ll try to pay more attention and take notes in the future, in case I see the sound dropping out when it’s not a highly-populated area.

For anyone that created a ticket, but the issue was resolved, don’t forget to close the ticket. You can close your ticket by updating it, and stating, ‘I no longer need help.’
Good advice. Thanks, Ic!
It’s Gems; at least, according to the Dev post in the pertinent thread.
(Gems, huh.)
OMG I’m still having heart palpitations.
(How many gems exactly was it?)
400
Oh. Just 400?
It was probably just gas pain anyway.
Nvm.
I’m so relieved that you’re ok. All that drama!
I wasn’t banned, but I became extremely distressed when reading this thread. Can I have that nice little reward also for forum pain and suffering?
I was not affected by the bug, I did not have my account disabled and I missed the opportunity to become distressed by this forum thread.
However, reading about it now makes me regret not having been involved somehow and also feel some pain on behalf of poor secondary sufferers like “Just a flesh wound” so I was wondering if I could have some gems to compensate for my tertiary discomfort.
In return, I promise to publicly declare that “ArenaNet Am Da Best” at least once per day for at least one day. Thank you.
Good try, Dr. D. Good try.

Lol, still no developer response. They must be so ashamed.
Or maybe we already did in another thread from a year ago.

Some of these are unlikely to be used in the first place, but it’d be nice to have an answer regardless
Yes/No on these:
Rune of the Privateer
Rune of the Ogre
Rune of Infiltration
Rune of the Grove
Rune of the Sunless
Rune of the Lich
Rune of Snowfall
Rune of Rata Sum
Rune of the Mad King
Rune of the FlockSigil of Demon Summoning
Sigil of Impact
Sigil of MischefGhost Pepper Popper (and other food that is day/night specific)
These should all work – the only item upgrades (sigils/runes) that are disabled are the ones that specifically provide benefits versus specific enemy types. The raid is not set at nighttime, so sigil of the night, and things that provide specific benefits at night don’t work. I don’t think any foods are disabled, and the only utility buffs that I recall disabling were the slaying potions from Artificer.
We disabled these upgrades because we don’t want everyone to have to be constantly changing the upgrades in their gear based on what they’re fighting in the raid in order to be optimal. These upgrades are bad to equip unless you’re fighting the specific enemy type, and we don’t want to create the situation where it’s optimal to swap out for Sigils of Ghost Slaying to fight through the spirit woods, then switch sigils when you get to Gorseval, then equip Sigils of Justice for Sabetha, and then swap out for whatever sigils you usually use when you leave the raid.
We have a work around, but we still don’t have a good understanding of the cause.
The work around is described in this post:
/forum/support/support/Can-t-finish-last-file-of-Nov-5th-patch/5740636
To help me understand the issue, I’d appreciate if anyone who continued to have this problem would PM me in the forums. I’d like to discuss your situation to help me come to a better understanding. Thanks.
You can see that infusion_slots are right but even with “Agony” infusion slots the description says “+5 Agony Resistance”.
Yep, that’s the text string for the built-in upgrade. It’s not displayed in-game (don’t remember if it ever was for ascended trinkets) but it’s out of date. I’ll let the guys who manage content know.
Nice work. Any chance of getting a category id added to the endpoint?
Achievement categories and category groups will be out sometime next month.
Not currently, no.
To enter you need to be in a Raid squad (or a leaderless squad). The entrance is located in the North East corner of Verdant Brink just east of the Itzel village.
Looks like everyone that thinks they are still affected are actually affected by the map complete reward bug. Hang on guys, it’ll be fixed in our next release.
-Bill
PM me your character name(s) if you are still affected
Everyone affected should have received some Gems as compensation.
-Bill
Any update about the 100% issue? There’s a massive thread you devs been ignoring. Would be nice to hear something from you.
From what I understand, that’ll be fixed in the next release.

Glad to hear. You should all have a little gift by now for the inconvenience.
Sorry for how long this took,
-Bill
Everyone should have access back now.
Restoring access, please check to see if you are now fixed
Sigils of Day/Night – These will not have any benefit
does this mean Sigil of Force?
Sigil of Force is fine.
Alright its finally that time. I’m doing a preliminary test on my own account before firing away on your accounts. Europe will be the first to get the fix because there’s only a few people affected. Once I evaluate that all went well, I’ll do accounts in America and it should be a really short downtime for those people.
Sorry for the delays. Its almost like I’m be cautious or something
Please provide more details. A list would be fantastic <3
MTX Combat Boosters – Speed, Might, Regen, Swim Speed (ect)
Food/Utility with +%Damage vs Monster Type – These will not have any benefit
Pet Consumables – Ogre Pet Whistle, Fire Elemental Powder (ect) will be disabled
Sigils of +%Damage vs Monster Type- These will not have any benefit
Sigils of Night – This will not have any benefit
Costume Brawl – Costume Brawl Pet summons will be disabled
I might have missed some things here, but you get the picture. Feel free to ask about specific items, however if they are likely to add a edge to combat, they are likely disabled.

Is it possible to push a new MOTD to the server?
lol no. Maybe someday in the far-flung future but the implications of that are terrifying (from an implementation perspective).
Preparing to do this in the next hour. You should receive a notice about 45 minutes before.
Edit: Missing bonus rewards is on track to ship with an upcoming patch. I believe they’re doing a bunch of testing to ensure we don’t have another issue like what I’m fixing today happen again.
-Bill
Hey guys! We have identified this issue and are preparing a fix for it. Your achievements are intact, they were just erroneously flagged to hide and the points not be counted towards the total.
Hi all,
I wanted to inform you that sign-ups for the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League Open Qualifiers will close this upcoming Friday (November 13) at 2pm CET for the European Open Qualifier, and 2pm Pacific for the North American Open Qualifier. Four slots per region are still up for grabs.
If you’re interested in participating in the open qualifier, please sign-up before the above times. You can sign-up for the tournament at the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League Portal: http://play.eslgaming.com/guildwars2/global/gw2/major/pro-league-qualifiers

- Achievements with the Type “ItemSet” dont seem to track completion (e.g. I unlocked the luminescent achievements, but they dont even show up in the account api)
I’m … actually not sure why those bits aren’t coming out. I’ll look into that today and hopefully have a fix out for the Dec. 1st release. Thanks for pointing that out.
- Some achievements have weird max values (“-1”), e.g. the “slayer” achievement in pvp. Are these the one’s that are counting forever? Problem with that is that we cant show what the max ingame is (in that case 2000)
I think those are using the achievement tiers as counters (since it’s the same counter used across multiple achievements, it doesn’t cap). We’ll have those bits exposed on Dec 1st as well.
- Show the requirements, (needed achievements, items, …). Also “text” objectives like for “Powered up” (http://i.imgur.com/7SWQ7Bb.png). Without this we can’t really make use of the bits.
That part should be in on Nov. 17th, the rest of the feature requests on Dec. 1st (though I reserve the right to slip on those dates — the backend for the achievement stuff is painfully complex).
If you try to zone into a raid instance while an encounter is in progress, you will zone in defeated and therefore won’t get any credit for loot.
Hello, checking the agony infusions I have noticed that all Ascended Rings (Infused) have a bad description with a “+5 Agony Resistance” while it shouldn’t exist because it is replaced by agony infusion slot. Simply these are the old descriptions before agony infusions were introduced to the game.
The descriptions are right — you’re looking at the old rings. The new ones have a completely different id.
It appears that many other achievements have the same issue – not just with the counter but the done flag as well. Although, that flag might just be comparing current to max.
Looks like my implementation neglected to take into account that counter-type achievements change their storage type when you complete them — the counter gets erased and it’s stored as a bitflag instead. I’m going to try to get this fix out for the next patch and add some more unit tests ;_;.
The done flag definitely just checks current >= max, though, so if the counter value is broken then the done flag will be too.
Nice, /v2/achievements used to lead to broken dailies.
Is there an easy way to check today’s dailies? Would be a nice site or app.
It’s something that’s being worked on; there’s a beta endpoint up at /v2/achievements/daily but it does not behave well w.r.t reset (e.g., it doesn’t flip over when the game does). Probably going to change that endpoint up a bit; there’s some discussion about it in the github thread.
Following up on today’s blog post about raid rewards, we wanted to share some details on specific items:
In order to preserve the challenge of raids, we’re disabling the use of a number of items inside raid instances. Many of these restrictions will be familiar, as they’re also disabled in WvW and dungeons. However, we are also disallowing the use of many runes and sigils that provide bonus damage versus particular types of enemies, as well as the potions that give similar effects. Using food and utility buffs inside a raid is perfectly okay, but most other items that give bonus damage or access to new skills beyond your profession have been disabled.
Change your in-game setting for Streaming to On Demand. You may need to turn on auto-login as well to prevent the launcher from continuing to fully patch.
When you’re nearing your data limit I suggest avoiding heavily populated areas of the game such as world bosses, any of the expansion maps, wvw, pvp lobby, etc. These areas, by their nature, require more data.
I just finished doing a trial run and verifying that we can now move forward. As of right now, I plan on briefly blocking access to affected accounts tomorrow morning between 8am and 12pm PST. If all goes well, the block to the affected accounts will only last around 15 minutes – if not, it could be up to an hour or so.
I tried to get this done within work hours to ensure we have everyone available if something goes wrong, but because I’m such a paranoid person my testing took much longer because of how thorough it was
We’ll send a warning to those affect in advance of disabling the account.
-Bill
I found a bug in the Slayer achievements (ids = 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,13,16,23,24,25,26,27,28,30,31,32,33,34,36,38,39,40,41,43,44,45,46,47,48,50,51,52)
The status of all of them on my account is current=1,max=1000,done=False.
Oof, yeah, looks like there’s something I missed totally. Not sure why those counters aren’t reading properly.
Turned on a pair of new endpoints today:
The latter requires the new “progression” API key scope (sorry!).
We’ll be making some additions to the /v2/achievements output in the future — right now we’re missing details about collection achievements, rewards for all achievements (including AP), and the per-bit strings for getting better information about the player’s progress (e.g., which dungeons you’ve completed for dungeon master).
The guild endpoints will require an API key from the guild leader with the “guild” permission to use. We’ll probably change that in the future (e.g., by possibly adding an in-game “Web API access” guild permission) but I’m not yet sure if that’s what we’ll do or when we’ll have it ready.

We are working with our content delivery provider on resolving this.
We think we have flushed the corrupted files.
Are people still blocked on this? If blocked, you can try adding this temporarily to your Guild Wars 2 shortcut:
-assetsrv drwkwiejruot6.cloudfront.net
Please let us know if the problem went away. Or if not, did the work-around solve it for you. You can also reply directly to me in the forums.
Thank you for so much detail! This is something we are aware of and I believe a fix is in the works.
Pretty far down on the list
That data’s pretty complex to extract, unfortunately.
Minis don’t really have collections — there’s achievements which track unlock progression, and there’s drop tables for the mini set consumables. If you’re interested in the former, that’ll probably get exposed.
EDIT: I’m guessing that the old “mini collections” used the drop tables, orz.
FYI, the section of the crash log you posted isn’t particularly helpful in finding your crashes. Could you post an entire crash log as an attachment?
If I remember correctly, the missing rewards issue is being worked on separately as they aren’t the same issue. I don’t know much more but I’d imagine we will have some sort of update on the status of that on Monday.
If you are affected then I would imagine you would also get the retroactive fix too. I wouldn’t worry about not ever getting those rewards, there’s no way we’d let that happen – I’d personally see to that.
-Bill
Play normally, any additional progress you make won’t be lost. Any additional XP from rediscovering the same POIs and waypoints will also be retained once your characters are fixed.
The current plan is to repair all affected characters during work hours on Monday. I finished doing several tests and passes against the game databases to ensure we know who is affected and what they lost.
Those affected should be receiving an email in the next couple days with information on how this restore process will happen. For those that don’t want to wait for that email, the process is pretty simple:
We plan on temporarily blocking access to your game account. During this time we will perform the repairs and run some quick tests to ensure everything went smoothly. I don’t expect this process to take longer than an hour or so.
I’m also doing my best to ensure that those affected are compensated for the inconvenience this has caused. No promises on what that entails, as I have no control over that.
-Bill
Been working on this since it happened. Don’t worry folks.
