- Mini with id “208” has a broken name (“((46388))”)

The item to unlock that mini is … gift of sprockets?

- Item ids set that are missing in the item endpoints 49285, 67845, 70112, 74532, 71258, 70703, 74762, 70234, 71848, 74055, 73476, 76663, 74444, 70684, 70191, 70888, 73378, 73749, 71835, 76594, 76745, 74595

Gonna go through these probably early next week and figure out which of those are just broken and remove the ones that are from the list.

Thanks for the report <3

Thank you for these useful endpoints, but I have already a question.
Why there isn’t a property like “mini_set” or “mini_group” that let us know in which set/group a given mini belongs to, expecially for the 3 known mini sets, but also for the halloween minis, the wintersday minis, etc…?

Ah, I didn’t even think about that. I’ll see if I can dig up where that data is stored and expose it.

Hey guys. I’m looking at these but they take a lot of time. I know it’s not what you want to hear but I’ll get to your case as soon as I can.

A lot of these ‘false positives’ are not false – they’re due to account sharing. Account sharing is bad. It makes you look guilty of things someone else did.

If you are innocent; you will play again. I’ll work all weekend if I have to.

This has been not working really for a long time. In many cases, the audio drivers are up to date for people. And why would dreamer and maybe one or 2 other legendaries be the ones that somehow aren’t working? I don’t have it, but I know someone that does, and we’ll test it and see, but I know the sound was noticed to have been gone a year ago.

If there are a lot of people and sounds also happening in your area some sounds do drop out.

New endpoints: minis and account/minis

Just turned on two new endpoints today: /v2/minis and /v2/account/minis.

These are fairly straightforward endpoints. They provide access to mini-specific metadata (there isn’t much) and account mini unlocks. /v2/minis is bulk-expanded and works in the same manner as all the other bulk-expanded endpoints:

/v2/account/minis is an authenticated endpoint and requires an API key with both the “account” and “unlocks” permissions. You can pass the API key either via the “?access_token=X” query parameter or via an “Authorization: Bearer X” header (though note we don’t support non-simple CORS requests, so for client-side web applications you’ll need to use the former).

/v2/account/minis returns ids that can be resolved against /v2/minis.

Here’s the Github pull request which includes the output format details.

We have confirmed that sound is not working on all machines, we have tested two configurations and have sound on one and not the other. The strongest possibility is out of date drivers. If you could update all your drivers to the latest, especially sound, and then give it a whirl please do. If you still have problems after that please attach your dxdiag to your reply in this thread.

Today I renamed gw2-64.exe to gw2.exe as it was indicated that renaming the file should be OK. When doing fractals a bit later I experienced 2 crashes right after each other. In each error report it showed "App: Gw2-64.exe ", despite me having renamed the exe file. So that makes me wonder if renaming the exe file is actually as harmless as one would expect?

The name in crash reports is always the original executable name. Otherwise we wouldn’t be able to identify it when we receive the crash report. Renaming the executable is perfectly fine.

I am having the same issues, text and graphics are blurry and not as sharp as the 32 bit version. Has anyone found na a fix for this? I’ve added the exe in nvidia setting and all but it’s still blurry (I have everything in max settings)

Could you attach a screenshot? I asked someone for one earlier in the thread but it probably got buried in posts.

i don't know but i thought at first that it's impossible to get machined weapons because it was blocking the progress but or it's another way or i dunno.

I think the machined weapons are acquired via item collections — you don’t craft them AFAIK.

64-bit Client Beta FAQ

Thanks Johand, Processes reads *32 so I must’ve not copied right? I pasted the GW2-64-bit in the gw2 file, does this look right at all? I right clicked on GW2 and hit open file location and then pasted the client in there

That looks correct. To launch the game however, you should launch “Gw2-64”, not “Gw2”. If you’re launching from a shortcut you can update that shortcut by right clicking it, clicking properties, and changing the target to be “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe” (including the quotes). If you want to change it back, you do the same thing again, but with “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” as the target.

Hi, i’ve just downloaded the 64-bit client and for my surprise it simply doesn’t start the laucher at all.
I’ve put it alongside with the old 32-bit .exe file, then double-clicked but the following error message appears always:

[…]

That’s the CPU/OS compatibility issue I mentioned before. Looking into it, but it will likely take a while. Sorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime, if you’re not on Windows 7 SP1, you could try updating. It seems to have worked for Dulfy.

64-bit Client Beta FAQ

Here you go! I hope this helps out. My girlfriend had the same issue with being unable to use high res character textures on only the 64-bit client, I’ll see if I can poke her to upload her report as well.

I’m the aforementioned girlfriend, so I guess I have to share my dxdiag. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I will investigate when more pressing issues are resolved.

Just downloaded the 64 client and now all of my HoT map exploration is gone (it’s a total fog of war kinda thing) . I had to rerun part 2 of HoT story Torn from the sky just to access the new maps. All of my waypoints are gone. My masteries seem to be intact so that’s a plus I guess. Looks like my personal story is not re playable now either.

This is a known unrelated problem that was promptly fixed yesterday. It will take a while longer to repair those affected though. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The 64 bit client insta-crashes for me as well whenever I try to start it. I did as you said and updated to Win 7 SP1.. and still no go.

So.. that’s just it? We’re out of luck? I crash frequently in the new maps and now the 64 bit client won’t even run.

Nope, it seems I may have misunderstood that source slightly. That “after Windows 7 SP1” was exclusive. However, there seems to be a possible workaround we’ll look into.

I would like to remind you that 64bit versions Windows have two “Program Files” folders for a VERY specific reason.

C:\Program Files\ <—————— Programs run from here are run in 64bit
C:\Program Files (x86)\ <—— Programs run from here cause Windows to drop into 32bit

You just told everyone to run a 64bit client from the very same directory that causes Windows to work in 32bit.

Might I suggest that you set the 64bit beta client to do a fresh install to the “C:\Program Files\” folder then just have us advanced users (Desktop Support Tech right here) copy the gw2.dat to the 64bit installation.

You can avoid some bugs right there without having to hunt down the cause.

It should cause no issues what-so-ever. The folders are set up that way partly for organizational purposes, but mostly so that 32-bit programs that are unaware of 64-bit even being a thing won’t try to load 64-bit things. It has no functional difference.

GW2 is crashing for me when I run the 64bit version. – 1.5 hours into events in Dragon’s Stand. Two times last nigh I got dc – one time got back to the map and finished another time map was full and no reward – same problem I had with the 32bit version for the past week that I have been playing in Dragon’s Stand. This is not the only maps with dc. Please fix soon, thank you

Was it a disconnect, or an actual crash? Did you get a crash dialog asking you what you were doing?

Okay, I ran it without compatibility and I get 30~ FPS on the character select screen, whereas with the 32 bit Client I get 60 FPS. Um… how can I fix that?

Since you’re using a laptop, please try making sure your drivers are using the nVidia GPU and not the integrated one.

…How do we know if the game is running it?
I started the download and stopped once I saw 330k files, which is the whole game. And Gaile just said we don’t have to run the whole game, just transfer it to the GW2 file. So being the computer illiterate person I am, I copied the GW2-64 bit <—-exact name file and opened up the vanilla GW2 file and pasted it in there. Mind you two OTHER files appeared along with the 64 bit, a .dat and a .tmp, should I have copied those as well to the GW2 file or is this good as is? A booted GW2 and there were about 1k files to download, I haven’t played the last two days so I assume that was just an update I missed? And the game seemed fairly normal for the three minutes I was able to try it.

How do we know if we downloaded it, or did I do something wrong?

Currently, the only way of knowing is if you launch the client and open the task manager. In Windows 10 it will display “(32 bit)” after the program name if it’s 32-bit and nothing if it’s 64-bit. I believe that applies to Windows 8 as well. On earlier versions of Windows you can look at the processes tab, and find Gw2-64.exe in that list. If it has “*32” after the name, it’s 32-bit. If not, it’s 64-bit.

I tried to fresh install the GW2 64, yes it download and install the game completely. But after shutting it down and start it again, the exe file wants to download the entire game again. Only when I install the GW2 32 I get the question where I want to install the game.

Is it correct it’s been designed this way? First install the 32bit and then the 64bit over it? I would imagine when I download the 64bit it would install the normal way as the 32bit.

Even in the software the 64bit as a programme does not pop up, while it does show up in the 32bit.

Note: When I install the 32bit and copy/paste the 64bit over it it works. I just feel better when software is refreshed with new installs.

I’m using Windows10.

This is intended while we’re in beta.

Will treat bags opened after the festival ends still yield the festival rewards? I forget if they turn off the festival drops from treat bags or not.

Treat bags continue to produce Halloween items when they are opened.

Very disappointed. Don’t you think we were in the labrynth during the last couple days of the event instead of watching the forums for some last minute notice?
Communications at it’s worst.
Even Sonder the Seller appears gone.
Is it really that hard to actually plan ahead and tell us?

This information was posted at Noon on November 2nd. The event ended the morning of November 4th nearly 48 hours later. Communication on this was more than adequate.

Sonder is still present; I visited him last night. Look to the upper left of the Lion’s Arch map; closest WP is Commodore’s Quarter and he is called “Festival Merchant.” He stands out on the overlay map with festival item icons.

I had an amazing time with the festival:

Holy cow, Fuji. That’s just amazing!

Had a great time with the Halloween Festival! I always do. I look forward to it every year, three years now. Thank you for doing this festival. I got lots o loot, had fun with all of it. Now time to store my corn, make my recipes, bank all my ingredients and save them up for next year like I always do. Ready to start out the next one next year with stashed supplies Oh, I liked it so much I went ahead and bought HoT. I was on the fence about it, but I was having so much fun I just wanted to go on to the next level. One adventure led to another. Twas a Happy Halloween!!

Laurie, I really enjoyed your post! It made me think of how, at harvest time when all the work is done, we store up our supplies, cook delicious foods, and enjoy the warmth of hearth and home during winter’s chill while looking forward to the coming year.

I loved the Halloween event too! It seemed like it went by so quickly, and I’m already excited for next year. Now, though, I have a jungle to explore and a guild to work on, and Wintersday to look forward too!

Thanks for the posts. I really, really love the Halloween festival. Glad to see some kindred spirits ~nudge~

Thanks to everyone for joining us this year. Can’t wait to see Mad King Thorn again next fall!

64-bit Client Beta FAQ

in Account & Technical Support

I have i7-4790k with GTX 970 as my video card.

I did some research. There appears to be a bug with the compiler runtime, where it can generate code that just won’t run with certain CPU/OS combinations. My understanding is that all Windows versions after Windows 7 SP1 should be functional. Do you have any service pack installed for your Windows 7? If not, updating to SP1 may be worth a shot. It may be a good idea anyway since support for non-SP1 Windows 7 ended in 2013.

It would be great if we can ensure this doesn’t happen in a future patch, but since it’s on such a core thing as the compiler runtime it may be out of our hands unfortunately. Will have to look into it a bit more.

Whenever I try to start a story instance on the x64 client, the map never gets loaded (according to -maploadinfo) and it times out.

Is this still true? I believe there were some issues earlier today (if my eavesdropping skills are up to par).

Precisely how long will this “beta” period be for?

I would think “beta” is a taboo word with the Mac client being in “beta” status for the better part of 3 years.

I think in general we don’t tend to drop the beta tag until we’re completely satisfied with how it runs. That just hasn’t happened yet for the Mac client, for multiple reasons. I realize it won’t make much of a difference at this point, but we sincerely do intend to get it from being barely an okay experience to at the very least a good one, with the goal being a great one. As all good things though, it will take time.

Then why is it that I can use high res character textures on the 32-bit client, but not the 64-bit client?

That’s a very good question. If you post a dxdiag output (instructions in an earlier post), I will certainly investigate.

i have this error when i try to open gw2-64 in my gw2 folder.

See my response to dulfy at the top of this very post.

Looks like the 64bit version can’t play with partially downloaded client, need full download.

By the way, I want the Exe name to be Gw2.exe, because I track the time I use with applications. Maybe I can rename it? or maybe the final version of this will be in different folder? or better, remove 32bits support and change to 64bits with the same name?

About my testing, I don’t see any difference, apart of the exe using more RAM.

It should work with a partial download. That said, there’s a known bug where the game sometimes (rarely) thinks all the files are required. Restarting the launcher may fix it.

As for renaming the executable, go ahead. The name has no significance what-so-ever.

GW2 is also crashing for me when I run the 64bit version.

See my response to dulfy at the top of this post.

Okay, I’m not the only one with this problem then. I just hope this bug will be fixed as soon as possible. I retried to get some waypoints in VB and it gives exp which means it did really reset. I’m not gonna retry to complete the map, it might cause problem.

I recommend that people with affected characters play other characters that are not fog-afflicted until we resolve these symptoms. If you wish to continue playing refogged characters it is very unlikely to cause any problems. We will fix your account during time that you are logged-out or after a hotfix.

Testing and deploying our change may take a day or more, but your refogged state is repairable.

Has the 32-bit client and OOM been linked to the nVidia driver crash or will the new client not help with that?

*Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

The description for Event ID 13 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. *

That sounds unrelated. If it happens again you should try downloading new nVidia drivers.

How would you like testing to be done? Max out the settings as they should be, if one has a card that will do it, and see what happens?

Just use the client as you would your normal client. The two are supposed to be equal in functionality, but we also can’t test on every single computer configuration.

I’m having a problem with text and graphics overall becoming blurry when playing on 64bit client. Anyone got a clue what would fix this?

Could you attach a screenshot?

My framerate with the 64bit client is terrible. It’s around 10fps in LA, whereas it’s ~40 with the 32bit client.

Are you on a laptop, or otherwise have multiple graphics cards? There’s a few people who had their problem resolved by forcing their drivers to use the correct graphics card.

Will this still support the -useOldFoV switch for those of us who still like/need to use it?

The 64-bit client is identical to the 32-bit client in every way. As long as the 32-bit client supports it, so will the 64-bit.

Will this 64-bit client executable be updated with the updater when a new version is available?

Yes. It will patch itself just as the 32-bit client does.

I wonder what happens on the next patch, will the patcher detect the x64 or
will it be overwritten with the x32 because of the name ?

If you renamed the 64-bit executable, it will still patch the 64-bit executable but with the new name. It should just work.

hope a developer can answer this when are you going to turn on high res character textures for the 64-bit client cause currently its not activated or turned on.

It selectively gets enabled or disabled depending on your computer’s specs, just as with the 32-bit client.

This wont fix the crushses from people who don’t have a based x64 Computer, my computer is 32bit based, i can’t run x64 SO on my machine… and i have been constant crashes all day since Hot….

We haven’t forgotten about you! The release of the 64-bit client was planned unrelated to the memory-related crashes. It will take a while longer for us to get them resolved properly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The game crashes immediately when I click on gw2-64.exe. Here is the error. Happens every time. the 32 bit exe is fine.

The error code suggests your CPU doesn’t support something. I see the crash report though, and will get to it at some point. Do you know what CPU you have?

Every time, it’s immediately. So don’t expect them to hang around this time either.

Actually the Halloween vendor was available year round.

This is the first time it will not be available. So it is a good thing someone asked.

If you mean Sonder the Seller, I think he’s more of a festival vendor, since he offers items related to more than just Halloween. If you mean another one, do you recall that name?

Are the items in an invisible bag or safe box? Items in those bags can’t be sold. (It’s to give you a “safe” place to keep valuable items.)

Account Bound isn’t really an issue because that shows up as a flag AccountBoundOnAcquire and if the item is on the account/character well…. it’s bound.

There’s also AccountBindOnUse, which legendaries and some other items have.

Also there’s a pull request which details what the changes will look like once the backend support lands on live if you wanted to check it out and/or leave feedback before it ships.

1. There currently no way to determine whether an item in an inventory has been soul/account-bound. We’ll have support for that in the next couple of weeks. (EDIT: maybe next month; I’m not exactly sure when that stuff is due to go out).

2. Depends. There’s three parts involved — the map instance server, the player database and the API server that reads player data. The map instance server sends data to the player database roughly every five minutes, or when you make a cross-server transaction (e.g., selling on the trading post, interacting with the guild bank, etc), or when you change maps. The API server only requests a given player blob (which contains all characters) at a maximum of once every five minutes.

Given that, if you just switched maps and your account data hasn’t been requested recently, you’ll get the exact same data as you see in-game. The worst-case is that you’ll see data that’s ~10 minutes old (e.g., the API server cached data from the database just before the map instance server persisted it, and you requested it just before the API server expired its cache).

Numbers are probably a bit off, but it’s safe to assume that any API data regarding the account/characters is a few minutes old.

@Beldin.5498.

Exception: c0000005 is a fun one, and there are a lot of possible root causes unrelated to the 64-bit client. I recommend submitting a support ticket about it, and we’ll run through some troubleshooting with you.

I just noticed that when i play its not switching over to my higher graphics card so that may be the issue

Yes, that appears to be the main problem people are having. For now, following the steps in this answer should do it.

I’m getting noticeably lower FPS on the 64-bit client compared to the 32. Any suggestions?

Windows 8.1, Geforce 760, 12 GIGs of RAM.

(not a laptop)

Could you please post your dxdiag by following the directions in one of my previous responses?

Going back to the 32-bit client doesn’t seem to be an option, as the client now states it can no longer detect a valid .dat file in the directory. Guess I’ll have to look up my backup and redownload the past few months…

Sorry that happened to you. We’ve tested going back and forth internally and never encountered that issue. Could you try repairing your files?

To save time on downlaods and not having multiple dat files if I don’t need them. I’m curious if the gw2 dat file is the same for both 32 and 64 version. If I can just copy/past the 32 bit version… it’ll save some time.

Yes, please follow the instructions in the FAQ.

Are the any differences between the command line arguments accepted by either client?

Nope.

I’m currently having pretty bad fps on the 64-bit client with the same quality options I had on the old client. I do have both a 64-bit Windows 10 version and a 64-bit processor. What am I doing wrong here?

How much slower are we talking about? It would be great to see your dxdiag output.

1. Run dxdiag.
2. Click “Save All Information…” and save it somewhere.
3. Open the saved file, mask out anything you would not be comfortable sharing (if any), and re-save it.
4. Attach the saved file.

For the first time ever today after launching the 64-bit my security software flagged some guild wars 2 files for keylogging. It happened to be during a gem purchase through paypal. I blocked the function through the securities software but I thought it was odd since it has never happened before.

Interesting. What security software is that? Could you ensure that the executable is signed by us?

1. Right click the “Gw2-64.exe” file. If you don’t see the “.exe” part, that’s fine. It’s the file with the GW2 icon.
2. Click the “Digital Signatures” tab.
3. “ArenaNet Inc.” should be in the list of that tab.
4. If you select “ArenaNet Inc.” and click “Details”, it should say “This digital signature is OK.”

If all of the above is true, you can rest assure that it’s a false positive.

Question: is this FAQ the official response to people crashing with OoM errors?
More specifically: is Anet’s response to the OoM crashes “it’s your client + os”, or is Anet admitting that something changed significantly with HoT with regards to memory-usage?

This is the initial solution (though it’s been in the works for quite some time). Something did indeed change with HoT memory-wise though: Mainly, the new features require more of it, to the point where the extra usage causes a lot of pressure that wasn’t there before. It’s getting increasingly difficult to stay within the limited address space (not necessarily memory constraints) of 32-bit processes.

That said, we’re still dedicated to supporting the 32-bit client for as long as necessary. Necessary fixes for it will take a bit longer to develop however.

We’ve introduced a beta version of a 64-bit client for Guild Wars 2. Please review the following FAQ for more information:

What is the 64-bit client?
It is an alternative to the 32-bit client currently used to play the game. Aside from some technical details, the two are identical in functionality.

What does it mean that the client is 64-bit?
Modern computers generally have one of two types of processors: 32-bit, or 64-bit. 32-bit processors can only execute 32-bit applications, while 64-bit processors can execute both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. The fact that the client is 64-bit means that it is intended to be executed on 64-bit processors.

What are the benefits over the 32-bit client?
64-bit applications have a significantly higher limit on how much memory they are able to use compared to 32-bit applications. Due to this, the main benefit is significantly less “out of memory” crashes.

What are the requirements of using the 64-bit client?
Your computer needs to have a 64-bit processor, and your operating system must also be 64-bit. To find out whether you fulfill these requirements, please refer to Microsoft’s Knowledge Base. If you are using Windows 10 you may follow the steps for Windows 8, and replace the first step with simply clicking the search button in the task bar.
Please note that we do not support 64-bit Windows XP.

How do I get the 64-bit client?
Log in to account.arena.net and go to the Game Content page. Under “Other Clients” you will find a button that says “Windows 64-bit [Beta]”. Press that button and then follow the instructions in the next paragraph for installing the executable. Installing the 64-bit client is a manual process and is recommended only for people familiar with Windows folder management.

I already have the 32-bit client; will I have to completely download the game again?
No. The 64-bit client uses the same data as the 32-bit client. If you already have the game installed, you can follow these instructions to avoid needing to reinstall the game:

  • Download the 64-bit client.
  • Copy the downloaded program into your Guild Wars 2 game folder.
  • Update any shortcuts to the game to point to the new file instead.
This process will be automatic once we get out of beta.

Are the two clients mutually exclusive?
No. If you have both installed (or copied to the same folder as outlined in “I already have the 32-bit client; will I have to completely download the game again?”), you may launch either client as you see fit.

Does the 64-bit client only benefit players with more than 4 GB of system memory?
No. It is true that the 32-bit client in theory can access up to 4 GB of memory. In practice however this is almost never the case, due to gaps in the address space that slowly build up over time (known as fragmentation). Most players crashing today due to being “out of memory” are actually only using between 3 and 3.5 GB of their system memory.

In addition to this, modern operating systems use something known as “virtual memory” to extend the available memory beyond what the system has physically. The 64-bit client will allow you to benefit from the increased address space by making gaps largely irrelevant, and will allow the client to use more memory than it could otherwise rather than crashing.

Are there any performance differences between the 64-bit and 32-bit client?
There may be some very slight differences in favor of either client depending on your computer’s configuration. In the vast majority of cases it should be negligible.

Why is the 64-bit client using more memory than the 32-bit client?
Due to the technical differences between the two platforms the memory usage will never be directly comparable.

Is there a 64-bit Mac client?
Unfortunately, a 64-bit Mac client is not available at this time. We are hoping to be able to provide one in the future, but have no timeline to provide it.
