Kessex Liberator looks like it should work correctly, though it does depend on other events in the map being completed before it will reset.
Brisban Liberator: it’s likely the case that the Hillstead events should also work, but the collection is currently looking at the enslavement event at Joy’s end (and the subsequent rescue if the event fails).
Overlord’s Defeat and Modniir’s ruin have issues- I’ve identified the problems and we’ll hopefully have them fixed soon.
Frizz’s energy- I can’t see any issues with this, and it’s working fine when I test it out- it works with both the low half-wall as well as the big rotating wall.
For the events breaking, we’re looking into them- they’re working fine for me on the development servers, but hopefully we’ll be able to find the issues.
Thanks for the reports.
There’s also a also problem with steal, it goes on full cooldown when you’re out of range and infiltrator’s strike does not work most of the time (to clarify, when you target someone, it conducts the skill as if you had no target so it’s just an awkward stationary infiltrator’s strike) even if you’re in line of sight.
I assume you are aware of this given your question, but just in case or for the sake of other folks, there are some hidden features of action camera. One of these allows you to use enemy-targeted shadowstep skills from outside of their range by aiming at the target (this and some other features are described in this thread). You won’t see a circle crosshair, just the X shape, but the skill will still target the enemy.
There is unfortunately a bug with this where the out-of-range allowance does not work if you have autotargeting turned off and are instead manually locking targets. I have a fix for this locally but can’t give an ETA on when it will go live.
Steal has some extra issues on top of this, regardless of action camera. It can be fired without a target, but goes on full cooldown if you do so. If fired on a target that is out of range, it goes on interrupt cooldown. These things come from content rather than code (roughly, design rather than programming), but I can ask around to see what’s up. It’s quite possible that there’s a legitimate reason I’m not aware of.
pointing the camera down does not shorten the Heartseeker’s leap, making it much more difficult to jump inside Black Powder multiple times.
The behavior you want is almost certainly a bug in the first place, so I’m not sure what to tell you.
My main gripe with action camera atm is not being able to aim at my feet. I wanna Vault Goomba Stomp in place lotta the times, especially when fighting bosses pve.
As vault is ground-targeted, if you are also using snap ground targeting, there is a secret interaction with action camera where if you aim the camera straight down, you will ground target right at your feet. This might get you what you want.
Normally: When you have a target selected and you are running away (facing away) and you use Shortbow 3 (disabling shot) your character performs an animation that is quickly turning and shooting back at your target but evades in the direction you were running (away from your target).
With Action Cam: When you lock a target (right click) and run away from your target and use shortbow 3… you just awekwardly shoot in front of you and evade backward toward your target.
There is actually a bug with the animation for shortbow 3 (also true for Ranger shortbow 3, which shares the same animation), and it shows up even without action camera, though in a different form. If you stand so that your target is pretty far off to the side, but not behind you, and you use skill 3, your character will jump straight back from their current facing direction, NOT away from the target as it supposedly should (also the arrow will fire sideways and look all janky). This happens because the animation is flagged so that the skill doesn’t try to aim you at the target; as far as I can tell the reasons for this are lost to history, but there it is all the same.
With action camera, specifically when you don’t have/are out of range of a target, things get extra funky. Because the skill isn’t allowed to change your facing, if you start running toward the camera and then use skill 3, you’ll jump away from the camera/toward your target, though usually only after you’ve previously used a skill. It’s all quite magical and clearly incorrect.
As far as I can tell this should be fixable, but as before I can’t give an ETA on when such a fix will be live.
On a note, “Reverse Withdraw” trick doesn’t work with action camera.
Since your character is on a permanent free camera state.
I’m assuming you mean using Withdraw as an advancing move? You may be able to get use out of the About Face keybind, which does now work with action camera (and regular right-mouse-held-down mouse look, too).
If you have the Jotun Star unlocked in the collection, you should be able to complete the “Laying the Star to Rest” by visiting the runestone near Heimdall’s Last Stand- it checks that you have recieved the star, not that you have it with you.
Oh, I want to also address the “We’re not going to talk about this any more.” I talked to the team lead and he agreed that was not the message we should be sending. The message itself is not the one we want used. So while the outcome will be fine regardless of the way it was communicated, the way to get there was a bit less informative and friendly than it could be.
Apologies for any inconvenience or upset that this matter caused you. I “get” that we need to prevent RMT from making inroads, and I believe the CS Team will be making changes to handle this in a more straightforward manner.

The retailer you bought from was simply not authorized and probably got the key in an illegal way.
The above is the kernel that everyone needs to know. A large number of the codes that are resold by unauthorized resellers are fraudulent. Naturally, ArenaNet cannot give you a refund — they did not receive the money. They cannot give you a free game — that’s just bad business.
The buyer must beware. Authorized partners do have sales, so watch for those. Or, if you decide to take a chance, please please have a realistic view of the situation, and do not blame ArenaNet for the shady actions of an unrelated business.
Thanks Gaile, you are the first to respond on this problem.
While we were unaware that we bought keys from an unauthorized retailer, I think most of us accepts that the key is rejected and most of us got or will get a refund from these retailers.
Our original core game however had a good key. We spends lots of time building it up and now it is also suspended. This should be given back. I am sure most of us are willing to buy HOT in game once we can go back to playing.
And in 99.9% of cases, access to the core game will be given back, once you contact CS and discuss the matter with them. No worries — it’s not a “ban” but a suspension pending the outcome of the review that you request.

Oh… huh.
That’s the minipet id which relates to /v2/minipets and /v2/account/minipets which I was working on before getting sidetracked. Totally forgot about that. Probably going to rename it to minipet_id, sorry for letting that get out before it was ready :<
Hello, checking in with everyone. I have a few updates to share. There will be more later but I wanted to hit these first:
Rally to Maguuma – Stuck
We know there’s another issue around the mission and are actively tracking this bug. We have had some reports that the following might fix the problem:
- Zone out of the Silverwastes and back in (to PVP or to Dry Top, etc).
- Change your active story step in the Journal and then back again.
OOM crashes
- Please continue to send your crash reports via the in game crash reporter with details about what you were doing and your system specs.
- The in game reporter is the best way to report crashes as they go directly to the programming team.
Scout Acan
- This issue is being tracked.
- We have some reports that Acan only is broken on some megaserver instances.
Story Mission 14 – Sign Cutting
- Itzel Poison Lore was removed as a requirement.
- If you are still stuck please zone out to another map, such as PvP or Lion’s Arch, and then come back.
Thank you for the update. Looking forward to the fix for the OOM issue. I’ve seen a fair share here on 64-bit systems, so it’s not just the 32-bit issue.
Just to be clear, I’m not promising fixes – or even fixes on a timeline, even though a great many of the items I comment on on the forums do get fixed decently quick. I make sure our issues are tracked and escalated to the proper people and then I get my board with nails in it out.
A lot of the things I don’t comment on get fixed too but we would need 3 of me to be able to respond to all posts all the time.
ok now brb finding some wood to knock on to avoid the jinx…
Hey Lauren, been having the exact [to-the-letter] experience with the Heart of Thorns 14 as Tamasan.6457
I’ve tried numerous relogs, but the personal story freezes us and goes transparent as opposed to a solid opaque and prevents progress. I talked to one of my friends last night and he mentioned that it took him 8 trials before he managed to get past this story arc.
The “Interact-Trigger” is visible, but unable to be interacted, much like when a player gets the Revive bug. There’s a really high mob density in this area and it’s really hard to clear them out, though I have no idea whether this would have any impact on the marks triggering for plot progression. I did my best to “clean” the earlier mark areas, but the later areas amongst all the critters seem especially buggy.
We’re tracking this but I will have someone investigate further tonight.
The Mad King’s Realm is a strange place which has confounded our skritt cartographers for years. It’s unlikely that we’ll ever have tiles for it. Same, more-or-less, for Wintersday.
Ascent to Madness should now be in the maps endpoint though.
Sorry about that, the desert BLs should be whitelisted now.

Thief bug with DD dodge roll modifications in old world: I lose all visual functionality any of the three dodges while in the old world. It turns into the un-traited dodge roll animation yet retains some of the effects of the trait used.
Reproduction: it just happens almost immedietly for no reason.
Notes: This is only happens in old world, it has not done this in HoT maps.
Work around: select another dodge trait in DD, dodge once, and then pick the one you orginally picked. This only works for a few moments and then it’s back to having no dodge trait animations from DD.
Yeah we know about it. It’s weird. It’s being tracked.

Story Mission 14 – Sign Cutting
- If you are still stuck please zone out to another map, such as PvP or Lion’s Arch, and then come back.
Still having this issue. Zoned out, quit the mission and then continued it, still stuck. Did various combinations of quitting, leaving the map, going to pvp, and everything together.
Got to the (last?) marker by the Dragon Passage Waypoint, it appeared, I got close, the UI checked off the objective, but I got nothing after. If I go to Dragon’s Stand or Auric Basin, I get the green swirly icon pointing back to Tangled Depths, but when I go there, no green markers or instance entrances anywhere I can see.
All in the last 30 minutes or so if you have logs or something you can check on me. Also available if you need to ask any questions directly or anything I can do to help. Thanks for all you guys do!
Will you try zoning out to a non-expansion area and let me know what happens?

Hey, Karasu,
The accounts are blocked and then cleared through the appeal process. Any bogus (fraudulent) code would be revoked, of course. The account then would be reopened and the player would be good to go.
We’re going to take a look at the process and if there’s any way to avoid blocking the account — even though the suspension is temporary and ends when we do the review requested through an appeal — the truth of the matter is that a lot of the fraudulent code applications come from RMT. What this means is that the CS Team really needs to suspend the accounts and review upon appeal, to avoid all of us legitimate players getting spammed with gold ad whispers and other bad RMT activities.
Does that make sense to you?

Still a somewhat manual process to whitelist new items (in an attempt to prevent spoilers/datamining ourselves). Sorry for the delay, Friday was a really odd day here!
I’m sorry that happened, Ranlares. I’m focusing on other threads and not the merged bug thread, but it seems to me that your adding a note there would be every helpful. If it’s a bug, that’s a way to get it noted, so please consider posting in that thread.
Thanks! (And congrats.

If regen were removed it would be in all modes. I’ve seen that in PvP it is also a pretty heavy gating, but in PvE it is appears worse due to the more frequent travel time between engagements.
The chak is supposed to have a non-interruptable handler before he dies that clears all conditions and makes him invulnerable so that he can trigger the cutscene. Clearly that handler isn’t actually non-interruptable in all cases. I’ll take a look and get working on a fix.
Sorry, forgot about the whitelist there — 1099 should now be appearing.
Ah, the HoT currencies are currently blacklisted. I’ll try to get those out sometime this week or next week.
OK – So after seeing some reports that Acan was moving around (something he shouldn’t be doing) I think I hit upon why he might have broken.
- Changed his team to non combatant so he can’t aggro anything or be harmed by enemies being kited up to the platform (which I also thought should be impossible, but you never know)
- Removed any behaviors he had for resurrecting NPC’s or players (sorry, if you splat next to him, he’s gonna ignore you and serenade your sweet demise).
- Made his interact handler interrupt all behaviors just in case the game thinks he’s doing something I haven’t accounted for.
These changes should be in tomorrow’s hotfix release (we just missed the window for today’s, unfortunately).
Hey all,
I’m looking into the combat degen resulting in too heavy a gating of Celestial Avatar in PvE situations; from what I saw over the weekend it seemed overly restrictive in open world battles. If this continues it then the degeneration when out of combat is likely to be removed.
Thanks for pointing this out, it’s now been corrected.
Looks like there’s a rather bright light there.
This is a problem in the map itself, not something on your local machine.
Thanks for bring this to our attention!
I did that back when I first started playing GW2 earlier this year (March 5, 2015) which lead to these current settings. However, the problem is that with HoT these setting don’t work as well.
Now, I will do as you suggest and start from the lowest settings, but if the issue still exists then what should we do?
Customer Support. They can have a different perspective on these and may be able to help us find patterns that we’re missing for whatever reason.
We were asked to discontinue OAuth2 due to phishing concerns. It won’t be coming back in the foreseeable future.
shaden, what are you current in-game settings? I’m referring to things like character limit, and such. This sounds like an out of memory error, which is rather common with Cider due to it emulating 32-bit Windows. Also, how long do you play (and where) when these occur?
I figure it might help if various users provided their settings as well.
Also, the hardware for these settings is:
- 16GB RAM
- 2.8 Ghz i7
- AMD Radeon R9 M370X – 2048MB VRAMIn your opinion Jon, if the attached settings are no good for the given hardware then what is recommended? Using the auto-detect feature just raises the settings.
Try dropping your settings as low as they can go. If that’s fairly stable, choose a setting and slowly increase it. Once the maximum is reached (and you feel it’s stable) make a note of it. Drop that back to the lowest and start again with a different setting.
Once all these settings have been exhausted, start with combinations.
Basically, I’m suggesting playing with the settings until:
- You are fairly stable.
- You feel reasonably satisfied with the appearance.
Hopefully you will find a happy spot that isn’t a potato. We’re continuing to push toward fixes that should help solve some of these issues. Memory fragmentation is a complicated issue.
If you haven’t done so already, try dropping various settings to their minimum levels. Things such as character limit, texture quality and such can lead to significant memory thrashing.
This sounds like hardware errors, potentially bad sectors or the like.
Are you using the On-Demand setting for the streaming setting by chance? If so, this is likely the cause. Suggestion: fully patch before launching.
Typically when the screen thinks their’s no signal while playing, there is some sort of driver issue. Try either updating or rolling back graphics driver versions to see if this fixes it.

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: ColinJohanson.2394
Hey folks,
Lots of passionate feedback and discussion in here on either side, and a friendly reminder that constructive feedback helps us make better games (please do keep it constructive!) We don’t always get every detail perfect the first time, but I like to think one of our strengths is we’re always open to and listening to feedback from our community and making good decisions based on that feedback.
Ultimately, we’re thrilled with the parts of HoT everyone is enjoying. Your passion is awesome, and it’s part of why we all love creating this game. In particular, in game we’ve seen a really positive reaction to the game from folks who are busy playing, which has been really cool to see.
While we never like to rush and make snap decisions, in particular with a game that’s basically been out less than three days; I think there are some fair points in here for us to discuss. Much like other feedback about HoT, we’ll be discussing this as well!
Thanks again!
Hey all,
Just letting you know we are aware of the crash revolving around the Pact Mastery for Auto Loot and are working on a fix.
In the mean time, you can disable this by unselecting
Autoloot: Quick Interact in the General Options settings
We’ll get the fix out asap!
We’ll take a look at the next step “Sign Cutting” being bugged out, as well as some or all of you having to jump through hoops to get the quest to update correctly. Sorry again for the inconvenience – we’ll have the quest’s designer and QA do a deeper dive on these issues.
From the hotfix notes today:
Stronghold: Fixed a bug in which PvP Win guild missions would not count as a win if the lord was killed.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Bug Fixes:
- Elementalist—Cleansing Water: This trait now functions appropriately with Invigorating Torrents.
- Guardian—Dragonhunter: Fixed a bug that caused Shield of Courage to be unaffected by Courageous Return.
- Stronghold: Fixed a bug in which PvP Win guild missions would not count as a win if the lord was killed.
- Auric Basin: Fixed an issue that prevented the Escorting Scholar Keenwit event from starting.
- Fixed a bug that caused Fractal Research Pages to be soulbound instead of account bound.
- Itzel Poison Lore is no longer a Mastery requirement for story.
- Fixed a client crash.
Hey friends,
While we look into this – can you let me know if you guys:
(1) Created a Guild Team and were partied together?
(2) Launching the mission before entering the match?
Thanks!
Hail! McKenna and Darren are on the case. Thanks for the report!
Hey friends,
I wanted to let you know that we are investigating this.
Hey Frost,
This is indeed not intended behavior. I’m talking to my team and we’ll be investigating.
How to Train Your Dragon was an amazing movie!
Did someone from the guild team queue and select to play as the guild team you created?
If you did not get a popup asking which team you’d like to play as when you queued, then you were not representing your guild for mission credit.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Unranked arena is not blocked by rank. The conquest game mode is. You cannot queue with someone in your party who does not meet the rank requirements.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
vanderwolf, Andrew Gray, one our esteemed open world designers who worked on Guild Wars 1, put a bunch of backstory and little snippets of lore all around Rata Novus and their involvement with the chak in the explorable map. I haven’t even found all of them myself. :-)
