Will we see correct “built-in stats” anytime soon? Can you add this description to main stats for new items at least to make items look like in-game items? Or add api for “skill_id” (buil-in upgrade?)?
Probably not soon, no. Hopefully eventually I’ll have something that matches what’s displayed in-game for the attribute mods.
There won’t be an API for upgrades (because the upgrade values vary based on item level / rarity / character level — so it’d be kinda pointless).
I hope it stacks exponentially because 15 min is nothing…
The 15 minute timeout is for the first offense. The dishonor lingers on your account for much much longer, resulting in a longer timeout if you abandon another match.

Does anybody know what’s up with this Legendary Rifle named ‘Quip’ with id 45017?
It’s a weapon that was wielded by Scarlet during Scarlet’s Playhouse. There’s also a hammer version.
I have no idea why it’s exposed by the API; I guess I should blacklist it.
You’re gonna have to show me a screenshot — I don’t really know what you mean. The item doesn’t show a hint for me in-game.
What is the grace period set to right now? Still 60s?
Correct, it is currently set to 60 seconds.

Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Sorry, been out sick all week and haven’t had a chance to go through the whitelist queue.
Just went through it, so most of those ids should be whitelisted once the caches expire.
No, it is not in match history API. This is something we think would be awesome to do.
In rated arena games, the match end timer has been increased to 2 minutes so players can review the scoreboard.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
The grace period is adjustable, and is there to account for restarting the game and hopping back in. We can change the grace period to be longer if we see that it is not long enough to account for the majority of people reentering the game.
The dishonor also applies immediately, so if you d/c and come back to play early, you’ll have worked off some of the timeout by the end of the match.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
You should be good to go now.

For everyone that experience blur in the 64-bit client, it seems you may have enabled anti-aliasing globally in the nvidia control panel. Normally the nvidia drivers would override that setting for Guild Wars 2, but it’s currently not detecting the game client due to the new executable name. This (I am told) should be fixed in a future driver release.
In the meantime, try renaming the executable to Gw2 just as for the 32-bit client. Alternatively, if you are comfortable digging through options in the nvidia control panel, make an exception just for the 64-bit client. Specifically, the setting we reproduced this with is “Antialiasing – FXAA”, but it could possibly happen with other settings as well.
I’ve also noticed this. Has anyone had any luck with it? I tried a few settings in Mumble with no luck (mostly just whitelisting Gw2-64.exe).
I can’t say anything specifically about Mumble as I haven’t tried it, but this is likely on Mumble’s end. Probably they’re just not properly identifying the game client due to the executable name being different. Try renaming the 64-bit executable to just Gw2.
Idk I just try the 64x client but it seems like my fan does run way faster(means more heat) than it did before. Is that normal or maybe I need to configure something.
It does a bit more work for parsing files, but it shouldn’t be anything significant.

As many in our player community are aware, we invited the guild Death and Taxes [DnT] to our raids testing program a month ago and gave them unlimited access to the three raid wings currently under development. Upon public release of our first raid wing today, DnT decided to go against the spirit of our relationship by promoting the speed with which they completed the raid wing without ensuring that those reading their comments were fully aware of the fact that they had been given early access. In taking that approach, DnT showed that they do not fully respect everyone in our community, and that is something that we take extremely seriously. As a result, we have decided to remove DnT from our testing program. We want to thank them for their involvement.
Moving forward, ArenaNet continues to be excited about the possibility of collaborating with guilds in the spirit of creating great raids and fostering a positive relationship with our community. We’ll be watching as other groups attempt to defeat the raid with the goal of identifying additional likely test candidates.
Y’all should be cleared now.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug that caused the subgroup context menu to say “Lock All Subgroups” when all subgroups were already locked.
- All gates in the woods area of Spirit Vale now remain open or closed depending on the progress made when a new instance is created.
- Krepet will now hold a conversation with more than one person at a time.
- Fixed an issue with the Gorseval encounter.
- Fixed a server crash.
- Fixed a client crash.
Thanks for the report, we’re going to look into this!
Just want to let you guys know, we haven’t forgotten about this issue. We’re investigating a fix and hope to have it out to you as soon as possible.
Stay tuned!
A couple of fixes went out with today’s build:
- The crash that happens immediately upon launching the client (error code c000001d) should no longer happen.
- The crash in the “A Light in the Darkness” story mission should be fixed.
We’re also working with nVidia to get the SLI profile and Optimus properly configured.
Not sure if this question has been asked, but I can’t find it in the FAQ (or if it is in the FAQ, the answer wasn’t clear), will the 64-bit client update itself, or will I have to download it everytime there is an update for it? I’m assuming the former, but I’m just checking.
It updates itself, just like the 32-bit client does.
Has anyone figured out the greyed out Hi-res textures checkbox? My system doesn’t have it greyed out. Nvidia GeForce GTX 980, Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 here. Could that be related to the reported blurriness? Or that sounds more like Anti-aliasing settings issues?
It is a CPU feature that is not being identified correctly. There is no workaround besides switching CPU as it’s tied to hardware. It will be fixed in a future build.
It makes me do it too if I select the 64-exe. The only way I figured out how to do it without re-downloading was to drag the 64-exe over the 32-exe in the gw2 folder. There has got to be a way to make this automatic.
It will be made automatic before leaving beta.
I’m having the same issure and I will provide the screenshots.
After logging in, I could immediately see the difference between the clients, but…
On these screenshots, there is no noticeable difference:
32bit test
64bit testThe problem is that the screenshots are both crystal clear. So I had to play in windowed mode to show the difference!
32bit windowed
64bit windowed
This animation is great! Thanks a ton!
Downloaded 64Bit client this afternoon and have been seeing some nice increases in FPS, without stuttering and load times reduction for sure.. but at the expense of having massive screen colour blooms randomly shooting out at me.. making it pretty much unplayable at times (and getting more frequent).
Whoa, that screenshot is interesting to say the least. Not really sure what could cause this, but we’ll sure investigate. Thanks for the report!
We are really looking forward to the site!

P.S.: There´s more to come soon; as a lizard-fan you really got me with the whole jungle setting and all its Itzel, Nuhoch, dinosaurs and other creatures with this distinct “prehistoric” feeling ^^
Oh cool! I like lizards and horned toads a lot, too. I find them really fascinating creatures, and of course I have a healthy love of all things dinosaur, as well. I look forward to your future works!

Are you already in a party? Is there any more information you can provide?
The true shot note was indeed intended to indicate Deflecting Shot. True Shot is definitely not slated for any unblockable state at this time. :P
11/17/2015 – November 17 Release Notes
NEW FEATURES AND CONTENT
Raids
Spirit Vale
A Pact squad has gone missing in the northern Maguuma jungle, and you and your allies are their only hope for recovery. But the deadly forest isn’t the only risk to the rescue operation—the area holds dark secrets and strange magic.
Form up as a ten-person raid squad and enter the Spirit Vale instance from the northeast corner of Verdant Brink. Take on epic encounters that are the ultimate test of your skill, and begin your journey toward acquiring legendary armor!
Enhanced Squad UI
- The enhanced squad UI feature provides functionality to manage large groups of players in all areas of the game.
- Players with commander tags will be able to create squads of up to 50 players, which can be split into as many as 15 subgroups.
- The squad commander can also create a “raid” squad type, which is limited to 10 players and required for entering into raid instances.
- The squad commander can broadcast to any subgroup individually or to the whole squad at once.
- Permissions can be set by the commander to allow potential squad members to join at will, to request permission to join, or to require an invitation to join.
- Commanders can also organize subgroups with a simple click-and-drag interface or allow the squad to organize itself, including sending invites to other players.
- Members of a squad will be able to see each squad member’s name, profession icon, health bar, and downed or defeated status.
- Commanders can initiate a ready check for squad members to respond to, and the whole squad will see a visual indication of their response.
- It will no longer be possible to be in a squad and a party at the same time, but just as in a party, your entire squad will be shown on the map, with special icons for your subgroup.
- A Toggle Squad option allows squad members to show up to 10 members of their subgroup using the traditional party UI that displays boons and conditions.
- In World vs. World, squad members will see the supply carried by each subgroup as long as you’re in the same map area as your supply-carrying squadmates.
- Players that have not bought a Commander’s Compendium may create a commanderless squad that is invite only, limited to 10 players, and has reduced functionality.
Special Action Skill - A new skill button has been added that can appear above the skill bar during certain context-specific phases of encounters (initially raids). When the button appears, the skill displayed for use will be driven by the encounter. Players can keybind this skill under Options > Control Options > Skills.

- Three new legendary weapons are now available to be crafted. Speak to Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbes in Lion’s Arch to start your journey.
- Legendary Axe: Astralaria

I looked up your history and see that your rating is pretty high, but you took a long break from rated arenas for a while. Your win rate since returning isn’t great. This could be for many reasons, but this is something that should be accounted for in matchmaking.
One of the features of Glicko is that when not playing your rating gets more volatile over time. It is assumed that your rating becomes less confident after periods of inactivity. This means that once you do start playing again your rating should adjust quickly to your new skill level. I reviewed the code as I didn’t see this happen with your rating and found a bug I’ll be fixing hopefully before leagues begin.

Any clue if the winners have been said? Not sure if they already tell them or they didn’t yet ^^ Thanks.
My fault, and I apologize. I had to wait a bit to get the in-game codes, but I’ll be announcing later today! Thanks to everyone for being so patient — and an even bigger thanks to everyone who shared a screenshot.

Hi Roggid. Your purchased upgrades are tied to your guild rather than the specific hall you’ve captured. So if you switch halls, your buildings will be in the same state in the new hall as they were in your previous hall (e.g., you won’t have to repurchase Arena Restoration 1 and/or 2 if you already have them), and you’ll still have all of the other unlocks you’ve purchased as well.
Enjoy the Lost Precipice if you decide to make the change!
Since this thread has turned away from a healthy discussion into an argument between very few people, it is now locked. These kinds of arguments do not contribute to healthy, respectful discussion.
Current lockout for new, paid accounts is five days.
We have listened to your feedback and been looking at how we could make changes to the format but still follow our schedule and time available.
We have decided to make the Open Qualifiers on Saturday double elimination. On Saturday play will continue up until top 8. Top 8 will then be seeded into a single elimination bracket that will be played on Monday, the 4 winning teams will have secured themselves a spot in the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League. The matches on Monday will also be broadcasted live from our UK studios on http://twitch.tv/guildwars2.
Please keep in mind that this will make the tournament on Saturday run longer than first expected, we’ll do our best to keep delays a minimum and also hope that teams will do their part to have everything run smoothly.
Good luck to all participants
Many thanks to ESL for committing to running a double-elim 32 team bracket. That’s quite the undertaking!
Good luck, all!
Agreed. I’m happy with these changes but I am still disappointed about matches scheduled on Mondays at 18h00 CEST…. Why?!
Good question! There were a number of factors that ultimately contributed to our decision to run Pro League on Mondays:
- All Pro League matches will be broadcast in person from ESL’s Studios – meaning no more seeing Jebro’s dirty laundry in the background of his webcam. This brings two big dependencies:
- We need a day when Jebro, Heurix, and Storm are all available to cast. These guys are jumping on a plane each week to shoutcast for us and trying to work with their schedule is important when you consider they all have other jobs or school.
- ESL has a fairly booked schedule when it comes to studio availability considering they’re broadcasting some sort of every single day.
- Another big reason for Mondays is Twitch viewership. After looking at the schedule and viewership trends/data with ESL, we believe we can carve a place out for ourselves on Mondays and make sure we give it an appropriate amount of promotion from both us and our partners. We are exploring the idea of rebroadcasting Pro League on the weekend somewhere so anyone who missed the live cast can catch it. Thoughts?
Unfortunately, there isn’t a single day we could pick that would work for everyone, but we’re certainly trying out best to accommodate as many people as possible. This is why we announced the days that Pro League would take place well in advance of sign-ups – just to make sure people know what they’re getting into.
Pro League is obviously a big undertaking for us at ArenaNet, and we’ll undoubtedly iterate on the experience over the next few months and long into the future. I’m stoked.

I thought it might help to let you know that stickying this thread was a suggestion from a couple of players. I asked John, and he and I thought there was still content of value in his older post, so that’s why it was stickied.
We do understand you have questions and concerns. The stickying of this thread was only a convenience measure for forum members suggested by forum members. It’s really that simple.

As Colin mentioned in his The Road Ahead for 2015 blog, cleaning up combat visibility for both actual gameplay (the people in the game) and spectators is a priority for us and is something we’re actively working on. We shipped some changes to address this issue with HoT (such as having hit effects clean-up faster), but we know some of the newly introduced elite specs skills need to be cleaned up, and those fixes will continue to be rolled out in phases. For instance, we’ll be addressing some skills on an individual basis in our next release.
The goal is communicating the important things in combat – not over-communicating them.
The only masteries that are required for the raid release are Glider Basics and Updraft Use. They don’t come in to play until the third encounter.
“Required” is a high bar
. Are there any other masteries that have any effect at all inside raid-spaces? Will there be speed ’shrooms on the map for example?
There were speed mushrooms in the Vale Guardian encounter area, but we saw kills from groups that weekend without the mastery. They are there to help you if you are struggling, but it’s possible to defeat him without!

Does having fancy glider skins help with Gorseval?
No, but at least you can fall with style.
A message from John Corpening and John Smith:
Hello All,
Since the launch of Heart of Thorns the Team has been monitoring feedback regarding the changes to Fractals. We’ve noticed several issues with fractal balance and rewards that are especially prominent above Fractal Level 50, and the team is working on some adjustments that we are planning to ship in December. We wanted to give you an overview of what’s coming.
Balance
After reviewing stat scaling we have decided to make an adjustment to how toughness scales. From fractal scale 1 to 50 the toughness stat of creatures will scale up with the fractal scale. Beyond fractal scale 50 the toughness stat of creatures will no longer increase with the scale of the fractal. This is to make damage builds more viable in higher level fractals.
Ascended Drop Rates
We’ve noticed some changes to ascended drop rates that are below what we were expecting. In this iteration of Fractal changes we will be increasing the drop rate of ascended gear from your Fractal dailies with an emphasis on high level Fractals rewarding more ascended armor.
Mastery Experience
We plan for Fractals to be an effective place to earn mastery experience. Our first step towards that goal is adding additional experience sources to boss chests at the end of each Fractal. This experience counts towards earning your Masteries for Central Tyria, and increases both for more difficult Fractals as well as with increased Fractal Scale.
Gold
In this iteration, there will be several changes to how fractals give out liquid rewards (gold and items designed to convert directly into gold). The negative aspect of this change is a required decrease to the amount of keys you receive from converting a stabilizing matrix from two to one. However the upside is threefold:
- First, the quantity of free Fractal Encryption Keys you receive for completing all dailies will increase.
- Second, the amount of liquid rewards Fractal Encryptions contain will be greatly increased.
- Last, the variation of liquid rewards will be reduced. We noticed that the general perception of how much the Encryptions were rewarding players and the aggregate numbers didn’t agree, they weren’t even close. We believe that the variation was set to rely too greatly on the high valued rewards. This change will make liquid rewards from fractal farming and dailies much more predictable.
We look forward to getting these changes to you and would like to thank you for all of your constructive feedback on Fractals. We are committed to supporting fractals for the long term and we’ll be continuously monitoring them for future improvements.
Thank you,
John

Ssspace. I’m pretty sure this has been a thing since launch.
Could you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

You may speculate, if you wish. However, the team that is requesting testers has carefully analyzed the sort of player they need, and they have made determinations based on those precise needs. This is obviously not an attempt to distance veteran players, but to get the best test input possible, and obviously a player’s perspectives change with veterancy.
For example, in other tests, they’ve sought someone with no familiarity with our game. Maybe that test involved looking at the user experience with the game interface, you know, such as seeing how easily someone discovers the dye system, or the wardrobe, or figures out how the inventory and storage systems work.
Maybe in the case of this test something is being changed. Your familiarity — as a widely experienced player — and your knowledge of the current interface and our development and patterns in general would obviously change the input that you gave. You know the interface, a small change might not cause you to stumble at all. But maybe that person with less experience would be completely flummoxed by the proposed alterations and not have the instincts of a veteran in finding things.
I truly don’t know what they’re testing. I am nearly certain it is not the interface, but I’m using that simply as an example. I make the post simply to point out that there are different types of tests, and different input requirements, including that of newbies, mid-level players, veteran players, and experts.
Thanks for understanding.

Awesome – some awe.
Awful – full of awe.
Neither word actually says whether the awe is good or bad.
I think the number of bugs introduced with every release is awful. I think that releasing content with simple basic oversights (bugs) in them is awful. I’m an IT professional in the Real World (i.e. not gaming). I’d be fired if I did that as regularly as Anet (and every other gaming company) do it.
I’d like to know why new crafting materials were introduced without appropriate slots in the collection bank. Some have since been patched, not all (why did it take a year for a slot to be introduced for Foxfire Clusters, for example? Are you hoping that people will spend Real Money on extra bank space?). I’d like to know why Legendary collections were released that have items that are simply unobtainable in the game (Scarlet’s Prototype Mechanism for The Predator, and for one other leggie, I believe, as an example). And very, very simple fixes have still not been applied. That’s just dandy.
Are you still reading, John Smith? Or do you only reply to people who tell you you have some awe?
