Leader of the Pact buff should never exist in Heart of The Mists map, because that map is designed for PvP testing too. A player can never test properly movement speed bonuses (such as swiftness, or +25% movement speed, or some conditions) if that kittening buff is on all characters.

I kindly make this request because we all know that you want us to get Black Lion Tickets from chests, and use them. How could we benefit of convenience if we have to go in Lion’s Arch every time? It’s obvious this NPC should exist in those special locations.

I hate copy/paste too. Too much reforging in this game. Developers should be more creative in my personal opinion.

Argument “if you don’t like it, don’t buy it” does not stand. Players should have the incentive to buy those virtual items. If players do not like the content, they will leave the game, and what is now “don’t buy it” will become “don’t play it”. The game will desolate and the community will scatter in time (like it already does?).

I am not saying copy/paste should be avoided at all costs, but new content should outweigh reforging and revamping, by an extremely high percentage, since the percentages of players and guilds from GW1 are not that high as we may think.

Not to mention accounts who post on these forums are a very small percentage from active game accounts, and even a smaller percentage from all game accounts. Listening to only a few players requests, some from GW1 used with forums and chat, is extremely bad for business.

To survive in those fast economic days , any product has to always come with something new, creative, never seen before, never thought before, using “out of the box” thinking. I hate to copy from other people thinking and make it my own idea, I hate not evolving into something new and interesting and unique.

I do not like modifications. Why reforge and modify new maps, instead of creating new ones?

I liked the old map, it was fine. We used it for years, it was used in PvP competitions.

Developers should create new maps, new content, new mechanics and new game modes. They should add new content, not modify the old content that already has a good feedback.

Really wish people would stop bringing up the vote. People voted to remove teams from solo queue, not to abolish any form of Team Queue completely. Furthermore, this vote was greatly influenced by the large amount of players associating their losses with being matched up against teams while playing solo.

If there was worthwhile incentive for playing in a Team Queue and if it was properly implemented, it could definitely work. Do I think Anet will put in the work when the majority of players is content with the current PvP farm? Probably not. But to say 5v5 Team Queue is impossible and could no longer exist is quite a stretch.

It can not exist. Again… history! 5v5 only existed in the past. The community was so small that queue times were even 45 minutes at high rank, screenshots with complaints were posted on forums by PvP players. This is exactly why Solo-Duo was introduced.

Now… would you wait with your team 15 minutes in prime-time for a match? If you would, would all your partners do the same?

“PvP guild lives matter too”? There are no PvP guilds. Premades should be removed from Unranked too. They can play in Hotjoin on their own servers. 5 friends can surely hold a server together with no problems.

PvP in 5v5 premade teams can no longer exist. People voted for SoloQ. They wanted SoloQ so badly that when it was non-existent the forum was full with such requests. You may be surprised, but during seasons the majority of PvP players was/is composed of PvE players wanting to play alone just like in PvE (dungeons, fractals, map events, and so on).

SoloQ players form a large portion of PvP, especially during seasons. And, undoubtedly, they hate premade enemy teams, because they hate their coordination with voice chat, their synergy, their dedication, their commitment and their strong will, all that together. Premade teams demolish SoloQ players in PvP, that is a fact (exceptions have been noticed, but rarely). SoloQ players get defeated often by full premades, and because of this they don’t want to play against premade teams, period. As result, this is exactly why we now have the great Solo-Duo.

Solo-Duo is not a solution, but a compromise of history. It’s ArenaNet’s way of answering to SoloQ, but trying to keep their dignity in a 5v5 product. It’s ugly to be in their position. The game is designed for teamwork with combos and team synergy at a very fast speed, but people like to play alone and farm the kitten out of this game just for some rewards to be used in PvE. It’s the ugly truth, nobody should be in the developer’s skin.

Now, what’s left… is nothing. Top PvP teams sensed it and many left. Competitions are no longer organized, even ESL stopped doing PvP competions of 5v5 in GuildWars2. The system is broken, it’s a concept mistake, and we all know it. However, people love it, and love it so much that for some ascended armors Season 5 was a huge success. Season 6 will be the same with solo-duo (developers already announced it on Reddit). Changes in balance patches were insignificant for current meta… why? … because they want to keep this success and this current meta. The current meta is probably considered a starting point for more development, because of it’s success and good feedback.

Asking for 5v5 team is impossible. All the good feedback of solo-duo, all requests fulfilled in SoloQ, all the happiness from people who got ascended is so high that this topic is irrelevant from the start.

Remember, PvE players are happy, and that is all that matters because they are many. Besides, if we had only 5v5 premades, like the game was designed to be, we (the PvP players) would cry and scream and complain for the long queue time (as PvE majority would me missing). Now judge for yourself.

Let me get this straight, you want the game to return in the past, like 4 years ago. Everything you stated (skins, backpacks, gold, chests, festival rewards) was in the old PvP system. At release, PvP was designed to not give any PvE rewards, only PvP rewards and skin unlocks.

We now have this system because others, just like you, requested it in the past. We can’t go back to the past, otherwise the forum will be flaming with players asking for this system with rewards and ascended and legendaries in PvP.

There is an old saying, absolutely valid for this game: Be careful what you wish for, because you might get it.

Acrisor, what a lot of people want is not big changes but small changes done regularly, you know, every month.

I want 5s shaved off an unused skill then in a month another change and another till it or the weapon set become useful. I want shaves in power level for all classes month by month till we get things with a reasonable risk/reward balance.

Think about it like this, had we changed spear of justice every month since the last balance patch it would have been at 3/4s cast time on Feb 13th and that’s assuming we changed it by 1/4s each time and only from the last patch on Dec 13th. If we had monthly balance patches since HoT everything would be in a better more balanced state months ago.

Small changes regularly and see its effect rather would be a welcome change.

Small changes are good, but we did not like it. People complained about changes in seasons. Players do not like when changes come mid season. They tend to start with one meta profession, learn it, and have fun with it. So ArenaNet made a promise (I know, this is extremely rare, but they actually did it) to never introduce balance patches in seasons. Therefore, the only obvious solution is to add balance patches between seasons. As such, your argument is rendered useless, because they can’t possibly add balances patches every month. Remember, we asked for it.

If they left everything as is from Season 5 and made only a small change, we’d see an overnight change in match quality.

Put the rewards in Unranked.

Remove all rewards from Ranked—the only thing you’re playing for is a spot on the leaderboard.

Then, you let the carebears follow the incentive into their “farm”

And the players that actually want to be competitive don’t have to deal with that nonsense.

Absolutely correct… only 1 problem: queue times for ranked will be insane. People will complain again for 30 minutes waiting in queue, so everything will be back to square one. We sometimes tend to forget they added ascended as rewards to lure PvE players into PvP and solve the long-queue problems.

Pre-Patch the majority of the ‘top player base’ agreed that the game was at it’s most balanced state since the release of HoT. I’m not sure why you or others were expecting big changes.
This being said every patch will bring complaints, typically from players who are tired of being countered by another class. That is, however the nature of MMO’s and in this case adds depth to the game, from a conquest perspective at least.

We expect big changes because we want diversity. Play the same game, in the same state, with the same features for 5 years… wouldn’t you be bored? This is the problem. We want shifting and changes and diversity and options. We want more builds for each profession, not just a single one that actually works… good.

Besides, we tend to compare this game with MMO market. Other games have more diversity, more builds, more options. MOBA games suffer changes every week. We have 4 months to wait for a “5 seconds reduced cooldown” on some spell, and then we successfully call it balance. Those 5 seconds on an unused spell were exactly what we needed, now we can PvP happy, everything is perfect.

When I see an enemy I want to be surprised by the build, so that I may know if I should engage in combat, or not. Instead we play the same kitten over and over again, and everything is already known as there is nothing to surprise me. If a player does not play meta… he dies; if that player plays meta… it’s boring. See my point? No options.

Introduce another currency for PvP? Do you even realize how long it would take? They have to add the new currency, create special vendor for it, create icons, set them as rewards in seasons, introduce them in crafting recipies, test everything to see if it works properly, create data and information in game and in wiki, and so much more work.

It took ‘em 4 months to drop a few seconds from unused (balance safe) spells. Introducing a new currency would take a year. Please stop asking such questions. It’s much easier to add some new item crafted from current PvE content, and push it to vendor. No testing is required. This is the most efficient and time saving solution. We should be happy, because it could have been worse… for example they could have not add anything in game. Any content is better than no content at all. We now have a new item in game.

I am curious, what would be the results if they had this statement for a poll:

The Guild Wars 2 PvP team is exploring an awesome idea of changing the way Ascended PvP gear is obtained. We wish for Ascended items in PvP to not only require Ascended Shard of Glory, but to also require PvE materials obtained from crafting at level 500 (ascended) with their respective professions. We believe this will improve those rewards, by getting them in line with other ascended gear.
Would you like Ascended PvP items to be:
A} obtained straight from vendor with only Ascended Shard of Glory;
B} obtained from vendor with Ascended Shard of Glory plus other ascended crafting materials.

I also would like a Null Cube, but not for traveling.

I suggest an item called Null Cube, for 1000 gems (special offer, limited time). Upon use, this item completely resets your account: removing all items and gear, deletes characters, remove all progress, clears bank and storage. All achievement points and all upgrades with gems are kept back (bank slots, character slots, shared inventory slots, etc.)

This item would be perfect for people that want to start over, or want a fresh restart, or simply wish to leave the game. This item should be with infinite uses (aka not consumable), so when you come back, you would remember why you reset everything, and reset everything again to make sure content is completely removed.

I would be the first to buy this. I will help my conscience a lot, making it easy to get over many flaws and mistakes. However, I am not willing to spend more than 2000 gems for this.

For sPvP you don’t need any ascended gear.

It should not be possible at all to get it in that game mode.

Ascended gear should only be accessible in PvE and WvW.

You live in the past my friend. This was in the past, long ago. PvP rewards were about skins, not about items and ascended and legendary. Now rewards for PvP are ingredients useful in PvE, whether it’s crafting, salvageable content or essence of luck. This is why I stated “the more pvp you do, the more pve you need” because I guess you would want to do something with PvP rewards, and actually use them at something. We all know PvP players love PvP, but PvE rewards are shoved down our throats whether we like it or not. We might as well use them and increase our crafting levels and do dungeons and fractals as ArenaNet wants us to. Who knows, one day we may as well forget about PvP so they can freely erase all PvP from the game.

In our minds we tend to separate PvE from PvP, because ArenaNet teached us to think this way from the very start of the game, where PvP was separate and did not require level and gear (see: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/competitive-play/)

Meanwhile, things have changed and PvP is now an extension of PvE. Here are a few examples:

PvP gives PvE rewards, PvP rewards gold, PvP + PvE = legendary items, PvP + crafting = ascended gear, PvP provides achievement points and titles, PvP needs to have content unlocked (amulets, runes, champions, reward tracks for PvE, and so on).

Also mechanics have changed: You can play PvE with full premade parties and raids, but ranked PvP is played only in maximum of 2 players premade. Also, nowadays PvP is mostly played and farmed solo, just like PvE most of the times.

We went a long way from earning skins and tournament tickets and PvP boosters, to earning PvE rewards in all it’s forms. All that mentality from the past has changed.

To understand and grasp all this, we need to unteach ourselves on separating those 2 game modes in our minds. PvP and PvE are one. Those are no longer separate, but are not necessarily bound (you can play one without the other, but you can’t enjoy the rewards of PvP without PvE). To start this mentality change, we should think of PvP as PvpE (Player versus Player in Environment). This way is much easier for us to understand patches and modifications for PvP.

they cant even make a decent figth game… its all based in power creep gimmicks…

i wish i could be paid to be a useless developer as well….or paid to wreck the game more than it fixes…..

Who tell you that they are well payed?

It took them 4 months to reduce some cooldowns. Technically speaking, this is done by modifying values of some variables (example: var_spectral-wall-cd=“40”;).

If this work was poorly payed, then we would have seen a random patch buffing and nerfing randomly all over the spectrum.

If this work was well payed, then we would see small modifications justified by huge care to details to keep this product great, without a lot of work but making others think with statistics that things are balanced and issues were slowly addressed (look at patch notes).

If this work was voluntarily, then we would see about 3 builds from each profession being meta, because of the care, passion and dedication for this game, without money and deadlines.

The more PvP you do, the more PvE you need. Awesome game. As a PvP player mostly, I love it when ArenaNet wants me and forces me in a “very elegant” way to start doing PvE. Sometimes I think ArenaNet is not actually thinking about me doing PvE, but about PvE players doing PvP to get their reward.

Anyway… possible patch notes for S7: Added crafting stations to all PvP maps so players can craft their ascended while waiting for match to start.

Nope. It’s not a bug. This game has balance patches every 4 months so devs can test them a lot. This game has no bugs.

Besides, you should read patch notes: “Continuum Split: This ability will now have the correct cooldown when expiring naturally.”

You have to do it slowly, methodically, without players ever noticing it, but making them 100% sure you are doing something valuable, positive and constructive in the long run. It’s not so easy as it seems to destroy PvP.

Let’s agree to disagree. It’s not just about cooldowns, it’s about equilibrium of beautiful professions within a fast-paced virtual environment.

Today’s patch is an coronation of 4 months of assiduous work for balance, it is fruitful result of intense brainstorming for teamwork (aka 5v5) from the developers for 4 months, it is the very best solution after firm testing and tremendous combat log analyzing within the last season. We should be happy with this “creme de la creme” balanced content.

What question is this?! Everybody figured it out except you? PvP is a grindfest of SoloQ (alone) for PvE rewards, for a few months now. You are too late man.

League season?! It’s overrated, we got ascended with PvE crafting.
Leaderboard?! Who cares? Give me my legendary backpack fast.
PvP system?! MMR is based by playing solo in 5v5, and you would not believe how trustworthy it is.
Leagues?! Honestly, look at PvP teams. Most of them already quit PvP, while the rest dedicated players moved away to other games.
Guilds?! I haven’t seen a PvP guild announcement since voting for SoloQ. Create one for you and your partner only (solo-duo guild, hilarious).
MOBA?! This is MMO.

Mechanics?! Who cares? Just play the game alone, get your rewards fast, and it’s complete. That is what we voted and we currently choose (look at the Profession Locking PvP Poll)

Combos - is this a joke?

From today patch notes: “For the first time in a very long time, we’re changing what a specific combo finisher does. In the past, we made side steps from retaliation to a light aura that gives retaliation. In this update, we’ll be changing the blast finisher for light fields to directly remove conditions from nearby allies. The team will be analyzing the effects of this in each game type and will be following up with it if necessary.”

After a “very long time” we have combos adjusted for light field to cure conditions. Seriously?! Newsflash: this is power creep era! Who uses combos anymore? Who stays to watch effects for water field and light field? Who plays with voice chat to state their combo fields and finishers when we stopped using TS and Discord long ago because we have solo-duo only? Would someone ever play a profession just for combos when the only one to ever listen is their partner (from solo-duo)?

Honestly, something is extremely wrong here. I no longer know who designs this game and who enjoys the features in announcements. This is way WAY too late for combos. They got removed from PvP when HoT was released, and were buried when Solo-Duo was added, remember?

We want changes?! People don’t want changes. Look at the poll for profession locking just now, or the poll in the past for solo-duo only.

Let’s face it, we like to troll and exploit the game for our daily casual rewards. We don’t care about esports or about this game’s PvP future. We are talking about team professionalism and coordination, but we enjoy the most when we win alone in a 5v5 team with no voice chat. We are talking about balance, but we will choose builds with copy/paste from metabattle and then complain on forums if old builds no longer work and we don’t have diversity. We are talking about balance MMR, but we enjoy swapping professions in matches or before it, “fixing” every change for the game to balance us correctly.

And then, we complain… and complain… and complain… when the vote reflects our choosing for game’s future.

Too little, too late. We should have it all by now: no queue swap + no profession stacking + hidden enemy players at start + profession based MMR for each player + new maps with new game modes + exploit mitigation + easy build swap before match + many more.

But all those topics were so much discussed and so much proposed in the last 5 years, that I don’t even know why I even bother writing or voting anymore. I think it’s only my fellow mates, still keeping me in the PvP area.

I no longer think YES or NO matter anymore. Now, it’s up to ArenaNet developers to decide, because 52/48 is not much of a vote, it only shows that players do not know exactly what to choose, or they have fear from the risk involved in vote and result repercussions.

ArenaNet, you got your vote. Now let’s see what you decide when players are split almost in half? Ignore one large side, or the other huge side?

With all do respect, in my opinion this decision should not be ours. I appreciate the time and commitment to ask us. This is a great initiative. However, the vote shows that we all don’t have a clue what to choose here. A developer should step up and have the kitten cubes (think outside the box) and decide something, anything that can bring more value into the product’s PvP section.

Majority of the game focuses on one class and does not swap even when you feel they should. Therefore if they went with yee, the majority of the game would not notice a difference except having a lot more balanced matches and the ability to having ratings for each profession.

I don’t see how voting ‘Yes’ would improve matchmaking? Because improved matchmaking can be done regardless of lock.

Looks to me that majority of people imagined there’s more to this poll than it really is. There are arguments thrown left and right in this whole thread which are neither related to ‘yes’ or ‘no’, and most of these arguments and changes people seem to ship exclusively with voting for one option, but can be done regardless of end result of the poll.

We got consulted. They asked us our opinion, directly, just like with solo-duo. It does not matter what hidden conspiracy there may be behind it all, the act itself of asking us is nice. I voted YES. I want MMR based on profession, because it will provide developers with an insanely strong feedback regarding what is overpowered (or mostly used) and what is not.

I congratulate ArenaNet. Possibly this is not one of the most important topics regarding balance, but they made an effort of asking us our opinion. I appreciate that, even if it’s not helping me that much, but it’s helping them for statistics and profession MMR. Anything is better than nothing, any change is better than no change at all through a boring game. I like diversity, so I voted YES.

Why help? It’s design problem:
- if we get a bad player in our team,
- if they make a profession based MMR and then asks with a vote if we should abuse it or not by switching classes,
- if they do not listen to so much balance feedback from elite teams in 5 years,
- if elite players and teams leave the game as there is not enough quality and challenge (latest see Helseth and his team),
- if we do not have PvP only guilds,
- if we do not even have PvP only teams (we have solo-duo),
- if we do not have multiple game modes for rated PvP,
- if we do not have multiple builds to swap them fast,
- if we have class stacking,
- if we are not informed about changes and their intent prior to patch releases.
- if we… (the list can continue, and you know it).

Good job from Anet. Congratulations.

This is a good way to prevent MMR exploit when people queue with profession B (where they have low MMR, to obtain strong party) and then switch to their profession A (where they are good at, to demolish enemy team).

With profession locking such exploits can be avoided.
