Ladders & Seasons?

Yes. There was an idea regarding PvP roadmap, for April 15 Feature Pack, to remove ranks and add ladders within long PvP seasons, with special rewards for each season. But this idea was officially abandoned on December-2-2013 because customers (aka players) requested it multiple times on forums.

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming player response, we have decided to keep ranks in PvP. We will be looking at rebalancing later tiers to make them more achievable. Because we will be keeping the rank system, at this time we are no longer planning to move rank finishers to ladders, create alternate rank finishers, or award special legacy titles. Thank you to all the players who provided their feedback and came out in favor of keeping ranks.

Personally I liked the idea of removing ranks and creating seasons, but I did not scream about it on forums simply because I liked it.

Regarding standard human model in PvP I think is bad marketing, simply because in my small gaming experience I saw no other game doing a global modification in race for PvP. Take for or example WoW (a popular game) has not modified their smallest race similar to asura (gnome) to look like other race (tauren or human).

Although I personally do not like this change for GW2 PvP, I do respect other players request, because the players (not ArenaNet) came with the idea for all-human race in PvP. Please read the past topics for more information.

Casually playing random pvp matches hardly constitutes any real level of comparitive effectiveness. Even over the course of 2 years.

I did not play only random PvP matches, I love to play much tPvP with Teamspeak (read screenshot).
My 50% can not be interpreted as a general experience. Possibly there may be Elementalists with more than 3000 games and 100% win.

I am curious, are there any other elementalists with more than 50% win over multiple games (team and/or random)?

You can see in the screenshot that I played tPvP, SoloQ and hotjoin, but mostly team arena and SoloQ.
I must state again that I did not farm for glory and/or ranking, so hotjoin was not my favorite choice of play (I do however like custom arenas in PvP events organized by guild).

I am aware that many factors come into play when interpreting that data, but overall according to the screenshot provided, the obvious truth remains: elementalist is below 50% effective in PvP.

I do not play only elementalist profession for statistic or feedback purposes, I play it because I like it for it’s many spells (I came from WoW, priest), I like it for it’s difficulty, and because I do not have the time to learn everything (again, 31 years casual player with a job and family).

I play since pre-release. I am 31 years old and I play only PvP with Elementalist (casual player in my free time).

I just reached rank 80 in PvP. I played only Elementalist 3315 games in about 2 years.
I used only a few glory boosters because I like to enjoy things (250 removed) and did not farm for rank and glory when Skyhammer was introduced last year.

Here is my screenshot.
The fact that I won almost 50% of all games, should tell something to ArenaNet. Sure, this is subject to discussion of how much of a newbie or crazy I am, or about my teammates. But, I do not wish to discuss this various subjective information, I only state a screenshot as true feedback about Elementalist profession of the Guild Wars 2 game.

At this great milestone for my gaming, I thank you all for all the fun provided so far. Any comments in a respectful manner are welcome, especially from ArenaNet.

It is normal. Every good name is taken because this game is 2 years old and had many many sales so far. This is exactly why you have to use your imagination and come up with something cool and interesting, not something basic that everyone thought of.

This game does not need any mounts.

Waypoints are on every map; these are easy to discover, they need to be reached only once and transportation is instant. In every game with mounts I wished I had waypoints like in this game.

And if you are really desperate about transportation you can get these useful items:

Captain Airship Pass

Why no GvG ANet?

Guild Versus Guild could be added in form of battlegrounds for 10v10 20v20 30v30 40v40 50v50 and so on.
But, this would require design of new maps, with missions (such as take or return the flag) and a big space in the middle for fighting; not to mention design for guilds to challenge each other, and for officer to accept the challenge with selected members from guild.
The idea is easy. The design and programming is the hard part. And in the end the reward will be small because customers will not buy more items (except finishers) from Trading Post just because they have GvG.

If a user wishes to play with UI hidden (default Ctrl+Shift+H) that user can not teleport to another location because he can not click and/or double-click any teleportation point. The only way around this is to show UI again, then teleport, and then hide UI again.

This is important while making better videos for youtube/vimeo/etc. and the user interface takes important space from screen. Besides, a good player already knows all the abilities on skill bar, so that player should easily be able to play without UI.

Correct. Like the wardrobe, a pet once unlocked should be available on all characters. It is a big inconvenient to buy it with gems or gold multiple times or login-logout to have it on next character, then the next, next; or repeat the transfer each time the character gets changed.

I have this simple request, and I do not know if this should be at General Discussion section or Black Lion Trading section.

Mini-pets should be permanent. When a player buys or collects a mini-pet, it should be permanent to use on all characters. The fact that someone needs to deposit it and pick it up again with a second, third or fifth character on each logout/login is a big inconvenient for a pet that probably even costed gems or lots of gold. This can be solved by buying the same mini-pet multiple times, but in my opinion this does not sound right to buy it 10 times just to have it on 10 chars.

So, pets should be for fun available easy account-wide without login/logout every time on each character. I do not know exactly how this should be done or programed; what I do know is that this may improve the gameplay of mini-pets collectors, and increase the sales at Black Lion Trading.

Elementalist is very OP

WHY YOU DIE!!!

On another note, TPVP stands for TEAM PLAYER VS PLAYER, so some builds and classes are built to beat down other builds. That’s the game. When you fight a class or build you can’t beat, you’re supposed to have a team mate that is built to kill them. So tell them in Team Speak to come help you, also if you are not using a mic. Don’t complain about losing on the forums because the rest of us are, and we are LAUGHING at you when you die because your group is running around with no sense of direction.

Everyone cry’s because they want to be able to beat everyone and never lose. Be realistic; learn what your build is capable along with all the rest of the builds and Classes.

Conclusion: Get good and stop bringing you PVE tactics to PVP.

The forum does not allow me to give enough +1 to this comment. Many people want to simply kill and destroy everything in 1v1. Well, the game does not work that way. It requires teamwork. If a certain elementalist has a particular build that your build can not overcome it, simply call a person in teamspeak to help (such as a roamer or even bunker).

Elementalist is squishy, it is extremely easy to kill. Believe me. The game needs more complexity and teamwork, not 1v1 or one-shot_one-kill.

+1 to Kolly. Thieves should indeed have what warriors and guardians have. Thieves are simply too nerfed. I strongly hope they will add the guardian features and the warrior features to thieves in the next patch.

Some people are not AFK. They simply do not want to play and wish to loose faster (either for more matches played, reward tracks, daily achievements, bad state of mind, ragequit, and so on). It is their choice. That is how SoloQ is built.

If you do not enjoy that or do not like it, try Team PvP where you can build your own awsome team and nobody will quit on you.

Character Specific Keybinds

I use Logitech G600 combined with Roccat Valo. I can create and switch between profiles.

If you do not have such gear (or similar gear) there are softwares for keybinding your keyboard and mouse and store profiles that you can then switch with the press of a simple 3key combinations while in loading screen. I will not put such softwares here because I do not want to get banned for advertising; feel free to search online.

Regarding keybinding, there are lots of tutorials online on what is best to keybind for GW2 and even for specific professions. All you have to do is take your time and do a little searching.

elementalist is not OP. However it is now in a “all round solid performance” state.

It is not going to kill you with conditions, but you cannot blindly ignore them either.
It is not going to one-shot you, but you cannot think that facetanking will suffice, you gotta dodge.
It is not going to do anything to harm you in any serious way if you got stability.

I totally agree with this. Elementalist was never strong, it was never overpowered and it always required lots of skill to play, keeping in mind all abilities and trying to combine them with cooldowns in your subconstient.
But, if children want it nerfed, then so be it. I already lost my patience in waiting for something great and exciting to happen in this profession. Right now I am with whatever change comes from developers (even nerfing).

So you have combined what warrior and guardian both have DIFFERENTLY and said that s/d thief is weaker because it doesn’t have what 2 other completely different play style classes have? Nice logic.

Also:
Since when does zerker Guardian have 25k hp and immunity to conditions??
Since when do warriors have Aegis?

Your basic argument is s/d thief doesn’t have everything so it can’t be OP! Good luck with that!

Personally I desire more items with special effects inside the Gem Store, fun items, and items that make me feel strange. I hate having the same characters over and over again; I like them how they are, but more diversity in special effects and transformation is really welcomed.

I wish I can be transformed like a fly or bug or any other insect in WvW and PvP and have fun with the character transformed like that.

I wish all my items would glow because I have money to give in gem store. I do not want copy of achievements and items like unique legendaries, but something special and beautiful in effects.

I have powerfull computer with HD graphics, and particle effects; with this having no fun from gem store, there is no point in making me spend money and/or gold.

After 107 comments in one topic about a single person, I think that person is “all star”.

Let’s just face it: he is the best of the best player out there, and deserves all the prizes in the world for what he did (I do not know what exactly, but he must have done something to receive 107 comments).

He gave his most precious time of life for this community and deserves to be called “all star”. If that is what makes him happy, then so be it. We should try to have positive thinking and make other people feel good and happy in their short life.

Staff ele was never good. Look at all the builds that failed miserably in tPvP just by playing with staff ele. Look at Tournament of Legends 1 and other competitions where staff elementalist was the least played profession, and statistically elementalist was one of the least played professions overall (with or without staff). Staff ele should not be OP.
If there is something to be nerfed here, that is staff ele. The PvP game is not centered on teamplay and combos, it is focused on 1v1, so there is no room for staff ele in tPvP.

I really don’t think these are not popular. If that would be the case, there would not be so many players buying this. The fact that people unlock these skinks, means these skins are being sold, and therefore popular. In my opinion these will keep on selling as players gather more gold.
Don’t forget, these are still on offer with just 1 ticket.

+1 for Aomine.5012 because simply put, that is true and experience shows it. Many good players left because the minority was listened while the good players who just enjoyed the game did not post anything on forums, trying to trust the developers.

I am very curious to see when minority will stop complaining and reach their “balance”. That is why I myself decided to be one of them and encourage any post of nerfing that, and that, and that, in hopes that some day the game will be balanced to their liking. Balance could not be achieved in 2 years by good players, so who knows, probably a minority can achieve that because they are listened.

So, to all expert players out there, keep those posts and feedback coming. Whatever you do not like about the PvP game, just post it here in a peaceful and respectful way.

Let’s just nerf thieves like Elementalist got nerfed, like Warrior got nerfed, like Rune of Strength and Pirate got nerfed, and soon Celestial Amulet.
The game will then be balanced, fun and awsome.

The E-Sport Expectation

In my personal opinion GW2 will never ever be an eSport because it has very big concept balance flaws that require extreme game modifications. These can not be done with balance patches, but with a large redesign to make all professions equal and unique at the same time. For these modifications to e created, they require important resources (such as time and money) that Anet developers simply do not have.

However, GW2 is an awsome game for fun and wasting some time with entertainment after a hard day at work. Professions may not be equal, but they sure are fun to play; either if you like malee, bunking, ranging or whatever gamestyle suits you.

Players just can’t stop complaining and whining. Ever since the game release (about 2 years ago) they always and always complain. Because of those complains the game gets modified, then other people complain again and the game gets modified again, and again, and again, and again, and again.

We got to the point where everyone wants 1v1 instead of teamwork (hence new map), conditions do not matter that much, teamwork combos are useful only in World Versus World, and everyone look for automated builds with multiple pets and turrets.

Seriously, stop… just stop and think this is a tactical teamwork game created for entertainment, not to consume it’s content fast by pressing 123 and move on to other content. If you don’t enjoy this game, then just leave it, just find some other form of entertainment, because time is one of the most important things in everyone’s life.

Just think for a moment: waiting for something to happen here or waiting for your wishes to be implemented in the game will not make you happier, because of the time consumed so far.

Everything is allowed, but not everything is useful to me, or you.
