Want to improve SoloQ? People do not care. They just want their rewards (daily, tracks, legendary, ascended) completed. This is exactly why people voted for solo-duo, doh!
If we would have wanted something nice, with tactics and communication and coordination, then we could easily form teams and use voice chat. But no, majority of this game voted for soloq, because they do not desire, or do not care, to team up and use voice chat for fast cooperation.
It’s nice, and we must understand why we have solo-duo. The majority of players like to get in PvP match fast, get it over with, and complete their rewards. It’s fast, clean, simple, without having to team up, use microphone, discuss tactics, or listen to other children opinions.
Thank you for that video. A few months later (a few days ago) he moved away from GW2. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/120344507
I’m aware, but his point stands regardless. It’s important to realize why he moved away: it was due to a lack of A-net supported tournaments. Also, he’s gone idefinitively, not permanently; he and his team will return if A-net creates a true competitive tourny system.
Having 5v5 ranked did not accomplish this. The tourny system would need to be more structured.
How can you have “something new”? How can you have challenges? How can you have good PvP community filled with teams, when consumers only play SoloQ, and even that is played for rewards (legendary, ascended, materials, gold), not for fun.
On the other hand, imagine how they felt a whole season, a good 5 man team playing separated in 3 separate queues at least.
If it is allowed by developers, go ahead and exploit it. I have seen a lot of people with exploits, from going through walls and avoiding line of sight, to stomping while moving and casting multiple spells at the same time. If others can be good in GW2 PvP manipulation, so can you. Just search the web, it and you will find a lot of informations and softwares.

With all do respect for your opinions, the game is perfect as it is, because people voted for Solo-Duo only in 5v5. This mechanic is not a choice of devs, or elite players, or ESL teams; but a choice of the majority of players in this game. Please respect that vote of many people. Please have the decency of trying to understand what others have asked for and voted, because many complaints were on this forum for Solo-Duo requests, and removal of teams. We should all be happy, we got what we asked for. Thank you ArenaNet for listening.
Elementalist is a concept mistake. It has 30 spells, not reaching high level of damage, not reaching high level of support, not reaching high level of bruising.
Elementalist is complex trying to do everything and nothing at the same time, with a lot of spells combined very very fast in a player’s brain.
The concept mistake of elementalist can not be fixed by damage. If you put full dps (berserk amulet) player can never reach the high damage of another dps profession (necromancer for example). Besides, many spells will be rendered useless (such as healing because of no healing power, no support because of no real support for team, no bruising because of no crowd control, etc.).
If you put ele on heals and dps (mender amulet), you might get something interesting combining heals with damage; but without real crowd control like engineer has, all this support and dps will never reach maximum potential, as elementalist will get targeted and interrupted (and all those 30 spells will be in cooldown).
The only moment in history when elementalist was great, was in 2013/2014 (if I remember right), because of celestial amulet for dagger/dagger. Celestial completed all features of elementalist: a bit of support, a bit of condi and condi removals, a bit of damage boosted by might, a bit of toughness to resist, a bit of vitality against conditions, a bit of healing extended to others, and so on. Combine this with 30 spells benefiting from celestial, and you have a complex rock solid class. But, because people enjoyed this difficult ownage, children started complaining about elementalist being overpowered. And so, celestial got removed to help children grow.
Now elementalist is stuck in a strange position. You got 4 attunements with big cooldowns (if you dare using overcharging in tempest), and none of them is best at anything.
Let’s assume you create a ele, you get fascinated by all those spells, but then you realize that you will rarely use half of them if you go as DPS (and we all know you need dps in this power creep era). For example: why would anyone use water overcharge with berserker amulet or marauder?!
You want an ele? Forget it. Use it for PvE. Children destroyed this game (not devs, not elite players) with their simplistic requests, such as: remove celestial amulet, reduce might stacking, make ranked seasons for soloq only, do not allow teams in PvP, allow class stacking, allow rewards for loosing so we can farm it, and so on.
Hey! We should all be happy. We got what we asked for so far.
It’s way too late now. There are barely enough players to sustain one gamemode.
And this is exactly why people voted for Solo Queue play in 5v5; and following those votes we now have no team play (premade) in Ranked seasons.
New game modes have been requested, over and over again, for 4.5 years (ever since release). We did not get these. Why do you ask? You probably are a new player in this game.
I don’t care how many buttons a mouse has. Logically one macro (i.e. one button) that can pull off a set of skill combos flawlessly every time with minimal time between skills is going to be better than a player pressing all the skills individually. Trying to argue the oppose is silly. Macros don’t get tired, drunk, or screw up. Try your luck against a macro typing the same sentence over and over again. You will lose to it’s speed and flawless replication.
Mouses with many buttons, and keyboards with many buttons, usually come with softwares for macros. When you install them, you install that software as well, gaining access to more functions than just the buttons. Each button and combinations of buttons can become simple or complex macros. This is another reason why gamers buy such gaming gear.
Not quite. There was a time when there were small tournaments of 8 teams (solo and premades all together). From those 8 remained 4, from 4 remained 2, from 2 remained 1. Rewards were bigger as your TEAM ranked higher. People had to learn because game was challenging, and you needed a team with voice chat to create and synergise combos.
Now everybody goes alone in soloq (because people requested it), spam whatever atack (because you just want to get it over with fast), try to win and always blame others, repeat the process with other games until you get your legendary and gold.
If you want some real cash, you can make a team, but it’s better to not communicate with all the newbies… and PvE between seasons is so awesome with all that new content, episodes and graphics… why struggle for PvP anyway?
about that other stuff, hope youre not trying to “inform” me, I already know.
I know everything.
Because of this awesome great and poweful atitude we have solo-duo. Who needs teams and friends? I am the best. I can win this because I am always right…
Also not sure what’s wrong with players performing better in a team they can coordinate with. I mean, that’s kinda the point. It’s a team game. You’re supposed to coordinate with eachother to win.
And the best way to coordinate is in solo-duo, because you can type more than “Hi/Bye”.
Also, you can communicate real tacticts in chat, announce fields and blasts for combos, select target and provide multiple arguments why the selected player is the best target.
Also, you can grow together with your duo friend and make new friends along the way even if now they are in your team, and next match they are your enemies. Meeting others is a very productive way of entertainment.
Also, in solo-duo people can congratulate each other at the end of the game, and share ideas about the past game, what proved to be a perfect synergy, and what did not help so much as a team bond.
Also, after win, we can then add them to friends list, and discuss even elements from PvE because we can have many achievement points together.
In PvP, a person we just met, can become a partner for solo-duo in the next day, because we are a tight and friendly community playing in teams, together.
The Guild Wars 2 game allows us up to 5 guilds. We can join their PvP only guild, and they can join our PvP guild, so we can access multiple PvP chats; this way we can share even more information about PvP and make it more entertaining and more productive towards wins.
Buy Razer equipment, create macros, have fun.
Stop treating this game as esport with professional teams. Teams are not allowed (only solo-duo), and this game is not esport (only very very few top players).
Game is not build around compatibility between profession concepts. Game is meant to unite differences in complex teams. 1v1 and 2v2 will never work.
However, if there was 1v1, it would not need an arena designed. 1v1 can be defined as a simple duel or challenge in open field.
PvP in this game is full of contradictions in terms and concepts:
- we have teams, but we play solo or duo;
- we have team competitions and contest with money, but we do not promote any teamplay whatsoever, voting for SoloQ and asking it again and again and again;
- we have 5v5, but people love 1v1 (hence this topic);
- we have arenas for control of points, when people simply wish to kill each other in 1v1 and 2v2;
- we have combos, when majority do not even like to use voice chat to announce fields and finishers;
- we have rewards for PvP only, but we farm everything and like to gain rewards when loosing;
- we want to go in fights very fast, but when we do, we act negatively and it’s always someone else’s fault making them quit.
- we want esport, but many good teams left the game long time ago, while we promote SoloQ
- we like to stream to promote this game, but we have only fiew viewers because the game is harder to watch than to actually play it.
- we call call it Guild Wars, but there is no “PvP only” guild, nothing exists to create war and conflict and fighting events, while we do not even need a premade team anymore.
(edited by Acrisor.8097)
Here we are talking about teams. Please try to remember: people voted SoloQ. They screamed for it in Reddit and this forum, they wanted it, and we all voted. Result of voting is solo-duo in ranked. History has been written.
As for the next season, it will also be solo-duo. Why? Because many players asked for it on Reddit while providing positive feedback about solo-duo so far. A developer already confirmed that next season will also be solo-duo. However, they will balance the game and MMR formulas a bit more (info will be provided).
Regarding teams and guilds… these are for PvE mostly in a meaningful way.
Why would anyone start a PvP guild? To play duo? There are no PvP guilds in this game. There is no point of having PvP guilds. There is no point in having PvP teams. We have solo-duo, and many many players love it so far.
With all respect to all votes, I kindly ask everyone to kindly respect all votes for solo-duo in PvP. Arenanet likes it, players love it, we should all be happy.
I am completely against solo-duo only. This game is about 5v5, it should promote teams, collaboration and cooperation between players. Fun is created by players meeting together, not by random computer formulas.
Farewell Denial Esports, not like this game is an e-sport to begin with, but hey… who am I to judge.
Neah.
The best way to improve PvP is add new achievements and new titles, like they just did.
All is vain.
So I receive a mail with the serial code, that I can simply forward to her? My billing info such as email will not become the account email?
I have a friend, I wish to buy her GW2 for from website. How can I do that since billing info will be mine?
Please do not start the hype train. Please do not even dare to fuel it.
When first expansion was released, the hype started from these discussions, and after release people started complaining on forums about price, bugs, features they did not like, professions overpowered in PvP, graphical glitches, WvW maps, game balance, and so on… even though the community started the hype all together.
Please, stop asking for a new expansion. If you continue on this path, you are sending marketing team messages like this: “we got money and we desire a new expansion”. Stop pushing developers in turbo-programming-mode, because we all know where this is going.
However, this is just a thought. If you do want a new expansion, keep giving them ideas and fuel for this hype train. But be warned: be careful what you wish for, because you might get only some of it, with a big price.

You got to level 80 full exotics? Awesome! Now have fun with friends, communicate with Teamspeak (or any other preferred voice chat), improve in PvP seasons and events, create and manage your own guild, make new friends from all over the world, and so on.
Mini Celestial Rooster is just another attempt of selling Asian content to Europeans and Americans. If you like it, have fun beating the Random Number Generator (aka RNG).
I think I shall pass on this whole event and deals promoting Asian content, and prepare for Love events in February, hoping to get some content designed for me (preferably without Random Number Generator).
(edited by Acrisor.8097)
It is enough that we have an asiatic festival, with asiatic outfit promotion, asiatic mail carrier promotion, asiatic backpacks (an exotic golden kitten with 2 balls dangling), asiatic fireworks, asiatic events, asiatic harvesting tool; all celebrating an asiatic new year… in Europe and USA.
Happy new asiatic year!
In Heart of the Mists there is no finishing option for lords. In game, a player has to finish lord after killing, but in Heart of the Mists such option does not exists after killing lord. Basically, there is no down state for lords in Heart of the Mists, while in matches such option appears.
I bought outfits. I will continue to buy outfits I like. I do not know what other players enjoy, but I like fashion wars.
I am a casual player. I play since release and I do not want any legendary items because it requires too much time and energy from me. So, I enjoy exotic items, and outfits, and little things that provide fun. For me it’s simple and it’s fun.
Thank you ArenaNet. Please continue to provide me beautiful outfits. I will buy them.
Why does it has to be a HE? What makes you think Labyrinthine Horror is not a SHE?
I vote for: Emanuelle, the Labyrinthine Horror.
We will call it short: Ema
No bats this year. No cats this year. Sorry.
To ArenaNet:
Please disable the traveling toys skills. While a player is traveling with a toy in game, he can not instantly cast something without looking at the spell bar. Instead of casting some profession skills fast to get in combat, player is using start/stop the toy, because there is a toy bar, not a skill bar.
Please disable spell bars of traveling toys. Make all traveling toys like Magic Carpet; because there is no dedicated skill bar, only character profession skills, while traveling with Magic Carpet.
You want us to buy toys, at least make them useful, easier to use, and not create us problems while using them.
Edit: And while you are at it, add them in wardrobe, to a special section for traveling toys, so these will not take space in bags, just like minis and outfits.

Eventually it’ll be purchasable for 300 cobs, no worries.

Please do not provide marketing ideas. You know they will make it happen.
OP forgot one thing: the conversion gold > gems is made by ArenaNet. They establish the price of gold and price of gems as they wish, with a formula they created based on amount of gems and gold obtained in game. For example, they increase and decrease the price of gems (with gold) based on how well gems are sold for real money.
If, for one day, nobody would buy gems with money, price of gems with gold would go sky high.
If, on a simple Tuesday patch, new shiny items come in Gem Store, many people will buy gems with gold (to obtain these items) while price of gems (with gold) will go very high. To confirm this, please have a look on Gem Store this Tuesday (2016.10.25) when outfits Lunatic Guard and Raiment of the Lich will most likely return to Gem Store.
ANet only created an automated way to set the exchange rate based on gold->gem and gem->gold usage. If more players buy gems with gold than sell gems for gold, the rate will increase, more selling gems for gold than buying with gold, the rate will decrease. This is why the exchange rate spikes quickly when something very popular is added/returns/put on sale. Players rush to convert their gold to gems creating an imbalance which suddenly increases the exchange rate.
Today every gem bought with gold was first bought with cash and converted to gold, don’t forget that.
Exactly my point. Thank you.

Halloween 2016 has no Mad Memories, has no Lunatic Inquisition, has no challenge in Mad King Labyrinth because it’s easier, requires insane amount of grinding because diminishing returns was removed to allow grinding of 120.000 Pieces of Candy Corns, and no dynamic events were added to all Halloween events since 2012.
Will all the grinding required now, this event is no longer fun. As it was, repeated the same every year, at least it was fun by taking a break from other content. Now it’s stressful, only rewarding new items for huge amount of brainless work, while old rewards slowly get removed, such as Mad Memories.
Glider and Travelling Toy Suggestions:
1. Glider carrying 2 characters (owner + friend). It could be funny for people to carry a friend with them and help them out with HoT maps. This could potentialy increase sales of HoT.
2. Travelling Toy carrying 2 characters (owner + friend). This is not as efficient as 2 seats glider, but it would be very funny in my opinion.
Since HoT release, Halloween and Wintersday have become events of mindless grinding and farming. There is no skill, no challenge, just time wasted by doing same thing over and over again, for minutes, for hours, for days and weeks, just to get a mini reward at the end of event.
Probably it’s fun for some people, but I shall pass; just like I did on Wintersday 2015 snowflakes shoulders and Halloween 2015 bats shoulders. I personally like dynamic events, and not grinding things by doing the same thing repeatedly for hours and hours.
I love it when players get 1 year behind. Seriously, today is birthday of HoT, precisely one year since release. And exactly today, one year after release of HoT, some players notice the power creep of expansions, because these must sell.
I really love this community? How can someone not love the diversity of people?! Please excuse me, I do not wish to derail this topic, but I really love you guys. Respect.
Yes, indeed, today is one year since HoT release. I find it a bit weird that Anet did not announce it by some great promotion (such as 50% off for HoT, 20% off in gems, or historical items in Gem Store). Anyway, it’s good that you guys noticed it.
Happy birthday Anet, and thank you for releasing new content with HoT.
Sorry because I do not know who you are, but I guess you are a very good professional player. Have fun, whatever form of entertainment you decide to have next!
The mistake is having players play to legendary for in-game rewards.
No. That is not a mistake. Legendary backpack in PvP is what resurrected PvP in the first place. If there was no legendary reward, PvE players would not have come to PvP, and we would still wait 10 minutes in queue, while Twitch channel would have had 250 viewers on Pro League, instead of 2500 like it had last monday. Why? Because of no players. Legendary items in PvP is a marketing strategy to make PvP more active, because most players enjoy PvE, not PvP.
So, thank you ArenaNet, thank you for introducing legendary items in PvP. At least we now have some activity.
The tournament is… as it is, and now you wish to ban it’s players?!
You are in Saphire? Great. Get in a PvP guild, form a premade team with voicechat, and win some more; and above all have fun together.
This is the best season. Thank you ArenaNet. We finally have balance. Low players will stay Emerald with their SoloQ fun, good players will go up and up with their TeamQ fun. This is exactly how the game should be. Everybody happy for their pixels, more effort (trying to play as team with voicechat) equals more reward.
exactly..so ANet made a gambling system for 80% of it’s pvp players and STILL EXPECT THEM to continue playing after this is done.
Good job..you came to my conclusion earlier.
That’s what happens when a company catters to just 20% of it’s customers. It also happened in REAL competitive games like Starcraft..not this joke
You know?! It is not that hard to be in those 20%. Make a team with voice chat. It’s simple.
People are not even complaining about diamond or legend. Most are stuck in the kitten tiers like emerald or whatever with close to no progression.
Absolutely correct, because they play SoloQ and are matched against other SoloQ. The only way to progress in this situation is pure luck.
Sometimes is good to stop complaining and accept the beautiful reality: SoloQ must die. Reaching Diamond or Legend in SoloQ is not acceptable in a game designed for teamwork. PvP should never be played alone in a match of 5v5. Imagine forming a football team with random players, now imagine this as a professional e-sport.
Problem is: you can’t kill SoloQ. If you enforce teamplay, nobody consumes this game PvP, if you do not remove SoloQ, there is no fun game and proper balance.
(edited by Acrisor.8097)
Nobody forces me anything. Nobody will stop me climbing. I shall now stop by myself, from my own will. See you in season 4, where possible things will be better. We all know how the past ~4 years were, so most likely, from my own will, I shall skip season 5 too, and see you in 6, then skip that too… who knows? Long live RNG!
Paragraph 22 from Rules of Conduct designed by ArenaNet for Guild Wars 2 product, does not allow you “disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching”.
Paragraph 1 informs you: “Please be aware that failure to comply with these rules of conduct may result in the termination of your Guild Wars 2 game account.”
My personal advice: If I were you, I would stop playing PvP. I have the exact same issue as you do, and I was warned by many players. I am no longer doing any PvP.
Rules of Conduct can be found here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/
I like to think pro players and legendary players have teams, have skill, and play together with voice chat; that is how they appear doing PvP on Twitch and Youtube.
In a few months players will be able to get this back item.
I kindly request from ArenaNet to change this item looks. Please make it a single big barrel pooring beer from a tap on one side. It’s much more fun to wear on character’s back a big barrel filled with beer, instead of the item you created (ugly in my opinion, but this is probably just my opinion).
If you are a player, and you like/dislike this item as it looks now, please reply as fast as possible to make a feedback for ArenaNet. Please note: in 7 months many players will start receiving this reward, so it’s better to act now, giving time for design if you desire a change.
Thank you all for understanding. Any constructive feedback is welcome.
