Please try to keep this topic in a positive and constructive feedback. Blaming people who asked for expansion (without them being around) is not good conversation. Final decision for an expansion is not from players, but from ArenaNet’s Staff.

This topic though is not about expansion, it’s origins, decisions for it, or players fault for asking it; this topic it is a feedback about the big gap of content in all these months, while waiting for the new and great expansion announced so far, in contrast with moments when content was delivered every 2 weeks.

Christ on a pancake, find something else to do! Is it so hard??

Find what exactly? For the past 7 months everything is complete and nothing is new. There is a saying (or title) for moments like this : Been There Done That.

Where are the good old days with content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Acrisor.8097

Some players can remember the time when months ago there was new content every 2 weeks. There were many things to do, new adventures to go into, new content to explore and taste. Now, since January 13-th (Point of no Return) there is no new content. Everything is done, complete, achieved, for 7 months.

In Black Lion Trading Company there used to be many offers and many new items, but for the past 2 months players can only buy everything on full price with the gems acquired from Heart of Thorns Ultimate pre-purchase offer.

Something tells me things will be like this till expansion. In my opinion (not that it matters) all teams are excited and working for expansion release, while players must do the same thing over and over again for a long period of time, while waiting for that great expansion to come; and when expansion hits players are very hungry, so expansion gets consumed very fast. I strongly hope my assumptions are wrong.

So the question remains: what happened with the good old days with new content, new items, and new offers in Black Lion Trading Company, every 2 weeks?

PS: Forgive me if I am sad, I am not crying, I tried to remain positive, I am simply nostalgic.

I'm not buying HoT to play BWE

The idea of Beta Weekend Event is awesome, not only because players can test products before release, but also because companies (ArenaNet) get positive and negative feedback from their consumers.

The idea of paid Beta Weekend Event is not awesome at all, because paying just to be able to test products before release, not knowing if you are going to like it or not, is not good marketing. Also, paying to have the honor of providing positive and negative feedback to developers, is not good marketing; this is the job of game testers and they are paid for testing and constructive feedback.

Beta Weekend Events should address to all GW2 players for the following reasons:
1. positive impression from developers to create a good product;
2. more and more feedback for developers and ideas for future patches;
3. motivation to all players to buy the game because they are listened;
4. <no release date> statement gets sustained by listening the voice of players to get all things right.

Guild Wars 2 HoT Release Date? [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Acrisor.8097

Because GamesCom 2015 started today, I was expecting a release date for Heart of Thorns expansion.

Many products and shows and events from companies are being presented at GamesCom 2015, yet ArenaNet decided not to increase sells of their product by giving a release date. To me this is quite strange.

This is not a critic or offense towards ArenaNet, but a misunderstanding of their marketing plans, when such a big international gaming event comes up.

Any ideas why ArenaNet decided not to surprise us with the announcement of Heart of Thorns release date, on GamesCom 2015?

People are actually leaving GW2 PvP

in PvP

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Acrisor.8097

In my opinion many people leave, others will take their place. This is how gaming industry works. People don’t like to play the same thing over and over again. If the game no longer offers something new to their loved profession, then they leave and try something new in other games, if possible similar with their play style in past games.

What a person likes and dislikes remain constant, but toys and games change according to what he/she likes or dislikes. To keep a person inside your product for many years, one must always bring something new to what that person likes (profession, race, range/malee, healer/dps/support/bunker, condition/aoe/target, and so on).

In my opinion games change, but what each person likes remains the same, and that is why each person has a favorite profession or favorite character. When a person is tired of his/her main (liked) character, they leave GuildWars2. It’s simple as that.

Why an official one? Create a T-Shirt with GuildWars2 logo (it’s provided on website) and an image of your choice (from website, or screenshot) and then put a whatever Release Date: xx.zz.2015 (example: 12.09.2015).

Then see how many persons ask you on the street, or in stores, about that release date.

In my opinion boxes will be in stores way before the release date.

Many stores no longer sell GuildWars2, and many stores no longer have GuildWars2 box (because there is no point for any customer to buy the core game twice). Right now the best way (and only way) to play GuildWars2 is to buy HoT from official website. This status quo is a problem for stores trying to make profit from this product, and it’s an issue for ArenaNet trying to bring more customers into this MMO without disappointing them.

As such, I think ArenaNet plans to announce a release date during GamesCom 2015 (so they will not loose more potential customers) and then put the whole bundle (HoT+Core) into boxes on stores, with a release date notification.

In my opinion if ArenaNet does not create boxed versions fast, many customers will make plans to buy something else after GamesCom, and ArenaNet will loose potential customers, especially from visitors at GamesCom (because many companies will provide hands-on for their games planned for release this year).

Many players want the lowest price, but when only one website sells a product there is no competition in offers, and no lowest price.

Guild Wars 2 HoT Release Date? [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Acrisor.8097

The week surrounding August 10th will likely be the date they reveal the date that will lead to the revealing of the launch date.

The first BWE will likely be announced around then and the launch date will follow depending on the success of the BWE. If they’re not treating HoT like an expansion however and the BWE is just a demo rather than a beta, then they might reveal the date that week at Gamescom.

I agree. The release date will be announced at GamesCom 2015, not because they want to, but because they have to.

1. In GamesCom there will be so many visitors and players asking for a release date, that they will have no choice but announce it so they will not make a bad impression to all people there.

2. You can’t go into GamesCom and ask visitors to buy an expansion that is currently in development and will have an “official launch date when we can” (Gaile Gray). Visitors will say “oh, that’s nice” and walk away.

3. Many other companies will announce their gaming/entertainment products with release dates (so players can make future financial plans to buy it). If Heart of Thorns is not presented with a release date, visitors will buy (or make plans to buy) some other product.

My opinion: Heart of Thorns will have a release date announced during GamesCom 2015.

In Support - Game Key - HoT or Core

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Acrisor.8097

I opened up support ticket number 1655020.

Official response from GM Walkabout:
“When you apply a Heart of Thorns serial key to your existing Guild Wars 2 account, you are stacking keys, which means your account will have 2 serial codes applied to it. With regards to which serial code you will need to keep, I highly encourage you to keep both of your serial codes just in case.”

Official response from support staff Alex Cruz:
“You can Provide both keys, the Guild Wars 2 key in the only field like this (111111-11111-1111-111-1111111 GW2). (222222-22222-2222-222-2222222 HOT).”

In conclusion all veteran players must keep both codes in a very safe place, and provide them both when requesting for help in support.

Thank you for your replies in this topic.

No Monthly Fee
With that said yes we are paying for an expansion..and Anet being Anet wants to give new players a break. We played for three years for 50 bucks (some alot more) Im sure we can play another 3 years for 50 bucks if ya want to. Thats pretty cheap for the caliber of game GW2 is actually.

This is true. Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns is worth 50$, because history shows that veteran players had fun 3 years so far for just 50$ when they bought Core game.

Also please note veteran players can play even more for that 50$ they payed 3 years ago, because there is no release date on Heart of Thorns, so in fact that 50$ from 3 years ago may count as 4 years of entertainment (assuming HoT will release next year).

No matter how you see it, HoT deserves 50$, especially for new players getting so much content out of this deal. If you are a veteran player, you should be convinced HoT deserves 50$ just because you had fun 3 years so far for that same amount of money. What’s another 50$ for another 3 years of entertainment (assuming HoT is released on September 1st this year)?

Buy or wait?

Every person decides for their money, so if you wish to buy it… then do it.

By analyzing the past you can see the future, so you should already know what promises will bring. In a pre-purchase all you have to do is decide if promises coming from marketing-team are worth 50$ or not.

I personally think I will wait until I have a lot more info about what I buy. It’s not about the money, but it’s this business model and all the promises from the past that keep on raising many questions. In short: it’s a trusting issue.

The Reality of New Leaderboard Algorithm

in PvP

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Personally I strongly think there is no algorithm (just have a look at leaderboard). In my opinion, employees often like using fancy words for simple formulas, just to increase the value of their work and look great in front of their boss or support. I think this is the case: there is no special or complex algorithm in GW2 PvP. They should have stayed with Glicko but now is too late to return, while promises for kids and expectations from mature community are high.

After 2.5 years since release the game is good and balanced and more consumers start playing PvP each day. ArenaNet wants more customers to enjoy the PvP aspect of the game, so with every patch and every PvP Contest Event more and more players join PvP, therefore we also get bad players. It’s a package deal, and it’s not game’s fault, it is players fault (most of them consumers of content trying to devour more and more wins until every reward track is complete).

This is one of the best ways to climb Leaderboard. If you want that too, make a 5 engis premade team with Teamspeak and do the same. This game is about easy to play mechanics, with low risk and high reward; if you wish to win with something else, you are in the wrong game. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Second Ladder Test Season

in PvP

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Acrisor.8097

From what I understand leaderboard only scores Ranked Arena, and MMR scores both Ranked and Unranked Arena.

If you wish to be top player is simple: keep your MMR low (to meet most easy players), and win every match in Ranked Arena (to get up on leaderboard). To achieve this purpose create 2 losses in Unranked Arena (to drop MMR and not be scored in leaderboard), then create 1 win in Ranked Arena (to be scored in leaderboard). Repeat the procedure as much as you like, but don’t forget to make sure you keep your MMR very low with every 2 losses in Unranked, because this brings you easy enemies in Ranked.

To make everything much more easy: do this when most children play (like after school) and with a premade team (preferably with Teamspeak or other vorm of voice chat). Having a premade team ensures you will not have 4v5 on your team, and saves you time and effort.

Turret engi is good just the way it is; probably more passive CC could be added for engis to become great, but so far is good. Artificial intelligence damage and crowd-control + running around pressing <1>, what could go wrong?!

I say Turret Engis are simple and good (not perfect, but good) the way they are. If you do not know how to handle turret engis, just destroy all their turrets (no matter how many they are), and then target the engi. It’s simple, very simple.

Scepter/ Focus Fresh Air Elementalist

in PvP

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Acrisor.8097

Elementalist is forced to play Water+Arcana because anything else is pointless and not viable enough.

Why just swap atunements for nothing, when you can get something from swapping them, and simply being in that specific atunement? With Arcana each swap becomes a spell that helps the elementalist and the players around him/her. With Water elementalist gets removal of condition to self and others, health pool, healing and survivability. As Elementalist, you are somewhat forced to have these in PvP, or risk die extremely fast.

On the other hand, I am sure ArenaNet is scared by the amount of time in thinking ahead how to design this profession. Elementalists got 25 spells (5spells*4atuments + 1 heal + 3 utility + 1 elite); so why not crank it up to 29 spells with atunements from Arcana (or even 34 spells if we count Fiery Greatsword). With that much dynamic involved, any change needs a lot of thinking, because the possible combinations are so many and so hard to predict as the gameplay and team relation happen very fast in any match. This is another reason why Elementalist is the hardest profession in game to play, and the hardest to design. forcing PvP Elementalists to play Water+Arcana for such a long time.

It is easy and rewarding to play turret engi, running around turrets pressing “1”, or thief with stealth engage-disengage; but personally I challenge anyone to combine 34 spells in your mind and execute them very fast, winning every game for more than 2 hours.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the only way to obtain low queue (or waiting times) is to drop your MMR.
The only way to drop MMR is loosing.

So if I have a high MMR created with Teamspeak Party in ranked games and wish to drop MMR, so that I would not have to wait long times in Unranked Solo_Queue, the only way to do it is getting many losses, forcing MMR to drop.

Nerf Celestial Already

in PvP

Posted by: Acrisor.8097

Acrisor.8097

Celestial is not overpowered. It slowly gets overpowered by the easy mechanics and crowd-controls providing it time to stack might for bursting down the target.

In essence, a celestial should die easy, but when that celestial disables the oponent with lots of CC, antigame (such as invulnerability), and bunking abilities; then that celestial gets more and more time to stack might and become a big problem.

Celestial is just stats for a mediocre build (not enough damage, not enough bunking, not enough support). What makes the difference is the chance to obtain time with CC and antigame for stacking might.

ArenaNet nerfed might, but that was not the solution. That decision canceled a bit of effect or results, but it did not eliminate the cause. In my opinion there is just too much CC with easy mechanics ingame, allowing people to just “troll” on a point, waiting for might to stack.

Eliminating CC is hard, because players like it, and more CC will be added on expansion. So, I do not know what the solution could be. Eliminating Celestial from PvP could be a possible solution, but again, it is just a mediocre build, basically doing nothing but trolling and surviving long enough to stack might.

I disagree with your idea of what Celestial is or should be, that’s not exactly clear. Let me start with saying that my opinion over time has changed and I do think the amulet itself should be shaved down to 400 stats in its respective category, down from 438.

You see ‘Celestials’ as D/D Ele or Shoutbow War, but your descriptions of what those professions are actually doing in a match, ie, rolling around, surviving, stacking might, loafing around in mediocrity, that’s just not how it works.

Celestial Ele and Warrior only have their potential unlocked when the player has really mastered playing aggressively as a cohesive unit with the DPS roamers. Shoutbow Warrior can be a big player in winning fights with properly timed Pin Downs, and D/D Ele Updrafts, Earthquakes, Immobilizes, these just ends lives when combo’d with an Engineer or Necro. Someone playing like you describe has no damage game, no CC game.

For example, Phantaram and I can lock select Warriors/Engineers with weak stunbreaks who get caught without them for up to 12 seconds. And that’s not even the maximum, it’s just Earthquake into Updraft, into Overcharged Shot, into Slick Shoes, none of those abilities with a cooldown over 45 seconds.

Once you start tapping into the wreck-your-face mentality, I don’t know how anyone can call Celestials benign might stackers who troll around the point.

Thank you. All you did is just confirm my words. You gave proof that you throw a lot of crowd-control and might stacking with purpose to damage your enemy in the end. It is same meat, different gravy.
