I’m in the same boat. Made back piece last week, got seed, seed became a pet seed. Kind of a bummer. I really like the look of the new piece.

Cultural armor will remain usable on that race only. You also can’t use light armor skins on medium or heavy characters and vise versa. The only cultural armor that even has a render for other races is human T3 which a couple asura wear ingame and was used for the pulled light flamekissed armor. You can however use the cultural armors on characters of the same armor class and race. Only need to buy one set of T3s if you have multiples.

I for one am glad that my stack of worthless level 1-79 stones that I have received in game are going to be converted to crystal equivalents even at a 3:1 ratio. That’s still 80ish free transmutes on my level 80 characters. As for characters under level 80, why can’t your cosmetic look be gated by level like everything else? Save your transmutes for your higher level armor like we always have.

I do this about six times a month and have gotten two weapon tickets. Though I mix it up and make characters of different races and professions so it’s slower than the human warrior run most people do. I like how I get to make a new character every couple days and have actually used a total makeover kit that dropped for me to remake one of my permanent characters and look like an asura I made for farming.

I doubt that the krait have tamed a leviathan if it is indeed a minion of the deep sea dragon. If there is going to be one it will probably be along the lines of:
“The krait have built a giant magical obelisk!”
“We killed the witch controlling the obelisk, and the magic attracted a leviathan!”
“Defeat the leviathan with Marjory and Kasmeer and prepare for the arrival of more dsd minions!”
“Return to Claw Island to defend LA!”

It’s not that the Mantle is anti-charr. They’re just pro-Mursaat. The Charr were a convenient way for the Mursaat to take over Kryta. If some Charr join the Mursaat and worship them, I don’t see them being turned away.

I would love to play as hylek/heket. They have a strong cultural identity and ties to Elona just as the Tengu have ties to Cantha. The only issues I see with them is their immunity to the poison condition and armor scaling. I thought some helms looked ridiculously large on Charr characters.

Well, it’s either this or a bunch of threads complaining about how there is nothing worth shooting for in this game. I personally welcome a new challenge. I hope these weapons require mats that are only found in more difficult areas and some time gated items to help draw the process out a bit. What I don’t understand is the people who are complaining about all their stuff being worthless now. Are they angry that they played the game and found rewards? Do they truly believe that their character will be worthless now that there is another tier of items which we’ve known about for 9 months?

I agree that the tidal wave could have hit Cantha and some disaster may have to destroyed the city and reduced the population. It would be a convenient way to reintroduce a cleaner, less offensive Cantha. Looking more like Shing Jea crossed with post Searing Ascalon. There could be vestigages of the slums and newly built parts that could be used as vertical maps but still more wide open places. Also, if the Jade Sea has unfrozen it would be a great place for them to expand the underwater aspect of the game.

Major Zephyrite Lore Plothole?

They may have had flying ships for awhile but this new one is more advanced. Easier to sail and land. When does it say that old sanctums couldn’t fly? When she says that they will rise above the mundane violence of the world? Couldn’t that be more of a metaphorical statement concerning their ability to “rise above” or become better than the rest of the world? Another theory could be that they were a seafaring people before their new ship. They could have had sanctuary like ships out in the ocean explaining how they could reach the crystal desert and have contact with Lion’s Arch. This would have connections with the dwarves who seemed to be excellent sailors. As to the Priory’s knowledge of the Zephyrites, all we have on their supposed lack of information on them is an NPC who states that other members thought that they were a myth. We have to remember that Tyria isn’t a world with the internet or television. Information spreads slower and even if members of the priory have had interactions in the past, would they have much credibility? A tale about magical sky people in their flying city seems like a stretch. I can see Gixx just scoffing at the poor explorers who brought back reports on the Zephyrites.

Opinions on Legendary Weapons! :D

The Minstrel needs it’s particle effect enlarged. The princess wand has larger effects. It would also be great if when it was drawn, it would play the minstrel version of the GW2 Theme from the mesmer reveal.

The Meteorlogicus needs a aura and footprints. Puffy white clouds could works for either.

The underwater weapons have great effects it’s just a shame we don’t see them often.

Rodgort is in a good place although it would be nice if its footprints were a little bigger. Not fireballs like the Incinerator but larger low burning coals the size of the greatsword or Kudzu prints. I would be icing on the cake if anytime you used a torch skill that it would breathe a jet of flame like when it’s drawn.

The Howler’s howl could be a little louder.

I’m surprised that no one mentions the Flameseeker Prophecies. It is probably the most beautiful legendary, elegant and of reasonable size. However, it lack most of the effects that are associated with legendaries. No footprints, no aura, no effect on attack, no unique sounds. In game, the only legendary I’ve noticed fewer of is the Minstrel for obvious reasons. I’m not saying that it needs a big update, it’s a great weapon, I just feel that it doesn’t quite live up mechanics wise to the others.

Sylvari pirates?

There is a Quaggan pirate in Timberline Falls. As for the others, Jotun don’t seem to stretch down to any bodies of water with pirates and Krait are too evil to join crews of “lesser” races. Skritt however seem like good candidates to be pirates.

What if in the dream, a Sylvari saw itself as a great pirate captain? Maybe even sitting on the captain’s counsel in Lion’s Arch? Wouldn’t this encourage them to pursue a career in piracy? We see Sylvari who dream of themselves fighting dragons or forging armor and they become warriors and armorsmiths.

Grenth tried to absorb Dhuum’s power but as a demigod he could only absorb half of it. “Make the choice that only a mortal could make”. Seeing as how Grenth was not a mere mortal, he could not take all of Dhuum’s power only enough to entrench himself as a new god of death. His glass was already half full. As players in the Underworld, we are not given the chance to ascend because the gods do not feel that Dhuum needs to be killed just resealed.

Canach and the Pale Tree.

Canach is helping refugees? By aggravating karka into attacking them? From the new achievements and anet’s post on Canach, it looks more like he has a lab somewhere on Southsun where he is building weapons. I believe that after his disgrace in LA he returned to Southsun and began plotting revenge. He manipulated the dredge and flame legion into forming an alliance in order to receive their advanced technology. This however backfired when the refugees created by the molten alliance’s activities were routed to Southsun. A few tourists on the beach he could keep his plans from but a flood of exploring refugees was to much. Now like every classic Scooby Doo villain, he’s aggravating monsters to scare away the refugees so he can continue his work in secret.

Nemesis in Living Story

Alex the Precise.3654

I personally believe the nemesis to be Canach. He’s been kicked out of the Consortium and is currently messing with things on Southsun. Also, he is wearing the molten alliance gauntlets in his new wallpaper and screenshot.
1. He sends an exploratory crew to Southsun which provoked the Karka into attacking Lion’s Arch and got the consortium to open a resort there.
2. (This is speculation) He convinces Flame Legion and Dredge to join forces.
3. He receives advanced alliance tech from them.
4. They start a war which creates a lot of refugees.
5. Refugees are routed to Southsun where Canach’s plans began.
6. Now he’s provoking wildlife into attacking refugees and tourists.
I believe that Canach has the highest potential to become our nemesis. A sylvari mastermind whose plans have stretched since November and has a menacing British accent. That and his “I’m better than you” attitude he had even after we caught him in the Lost Shores.

Margonites

Alex the Precise.3654

I believe that Kormir’s ascension didn’t change the Margonites as they were corrupted by Abaddon’s ideals as well as his magic. I think it would be an interesting note if Anet placed a Margonite in a future expansion. They are stated to be immortal and chances are that at least a few survived the cleansing efforts in the Realm of Torment just as a few Mursaat survived the Titans and the following war in Kryta. The Lost and the Apostle come to mind as possible candidates.

Tequatl the Sunless isn’t blind. He is given this name by the Hylek which inhabit the coast and the term “Sunless” merely refers to him being undead. The Hylek worship the Sun as a deity and so one who is “Sunless” is cut off from the Sun’s power and divinity.

I would think that the “dark presence” in the desert would be Kralkatorik and thus Jennah would have sealed the gate after he awoke a few years ago. Probably shortly after the Ogre Revolt and Kralkatorik’s passing. She was at Ebonhawk at the time to mandate the closing of the gate.

To the issue of religious tolerance, its a simple matter of the different religions not seeming to be seeking converts. Humans place themselves above others because of their religion but don’t seek to convert them because the gods favor and bless humans. The Asura acknowledge the other deities but incorporate them into the eternal alchemy. Norn spirits aren’t gods but strong spirits who you should model your life after. More like saints. The Charr dislike everyone regardless of religion. Finally, none of the races can outright deny any of the others religions because in documented history the gods were physical beings that walked across Tyria. Sure their divinity can be questioned but the fact remains that they exist.

There is a pair of vigil members (a Charr and a human) that you can find throughout your story that seem to become friends. They start out being pretty obnoxious to each other with the insults and all but this gets better as time goes on. Last I saw of them, they had found common ground in that neither of them were that excited about fighting Zhaitan in an untested airship.

I suspect that the pact will retain a strong presence in Orr and that a large number of Sylvari will set up a community there. They seem like they would have the best chance of healing the land due to their immunity to corruption. Also, they must think of their wylde hunts. So many of the Sylvari that we meet in the story have wylde hunts revolving around Orr.

Were the Seers wiped out before the elder dragons went to sleep? I thought that the Mursaat/Seer war happened after the Mursaat returned. If the Mursaat could keep their magic when they hid, they could easily win an old grudge match against the Seers who had sealed away their magic in the bloodstone. It would also explain their powerful magic like spectral agony if they still had access to pre-bloodstone magic.

Dervishes who drew a lot of their powers from the human gods, probably went the same way as the monks. With the gods distancing themselves from the world, dervish magic would have been lost and they would become less effective as warriors. We do see some humans attaining what must be dervish-like powers from the avatar of Balthazar form but these come from ancient artifacts which channeled sealed magic from before the gods left. (I’m speaking of the separatists in the gladium father story line and the priory defense of Lions Arch)

What really happened to the six human gods?

in Lore

Posted by: Alex the Precise.3654

Alex the Precise.3654

I believe the character in question meant that he no longer worshiped Balthazar. That he only drew power from Zhaitan now. We can indirectly tell that the gods still exist somewhere as the human racial prayers still have an effect just not to the extent that it had 250 years ago. Balthazar still sends his war hounds to protect those who worship him.

What are the Scepter of Orr/Mists?

in Lore

Posted by: Alex the Precise.3654

Alex the Precise.3654

The Orrian undead probably came from Zhaitan indirectly. He was sleeping beneath Orr when it sunk, how deep we don’t know. When the kingdom went crashing down it might have created a way for his passive corruption to emerge. WE know that the other dragons gave off magic and corruption even while sleeping. Primordius powered the entire Asura gate network and All those bodies mixed with a sleeping dragons years before his awakening started pumping out destroyers. Latent magic could have raised all those undead but without Zhaitan’s conscious influence they were just a wandering force. I am a fan of the “Scepter of Orr was a piece of or somehow related to Zhaitan” theory as it would explain how it could be used to influence Zhaitan’s undead. Brings up the question of where it is now and can it be used against his remaining forces or did he simply reabsorb it at some point?
