can someone explain to me why everyone is worried about this char. slot?… i mean, revenant is not mandatory for anything and ok to try it, but ( maybe gem the slot, or delete some char. you don’t use anymore if you have it) i really hope this revenant hype go down fast, i’ll try him too maybe but imagine if all will be revenant? what a lame ending for the first month :P…
About the slot, i know they gave them back in the gw1 day, but is really a little plus if its free, really, if you have all slot full and with char. maxed out, you should already have the gems you need to buy the slot, if not, remember that they are actually giving 5 (or 6?) slots ’cause they are giving us a whole new account with the pre-purchase, just log in mail what you need between 2 account and thats it, if you think this is weird probably you are not so maxed out on slots

don’t forget we poor mac users are completely shutted off of all this, cause net instead of making real addon chose to support only this over wolf and give all the perk only to win users… i still don’t know why don’t reduce the cost to the mac client seeing all the problem without the perk… still i’ll love the game , and still I’m waiting for at least a boss timer ingame for all poor mac users

I know maybe its not meta, but give a lot control that maybe the developer found usefull in testing other things( like with meta he would have passed the entire POI dodging and dpsing and was not needed), and why, pls why, tell me what is wrong or to be buffer in staff mesmer, its one of The class best weapon with a lot of utility, and pls tell me why you needed to caps that…. Really cant stand such affermation completely out of reality and narrow minded like this… IT show only disgust for majority of player choices and game design… like you know and if we dont we are trash… Sorry maybe im taking this too personally, but that claim shows a very bad attitude…

What you people appear to be forgetting is that we recently had a developer for the chronomancer in the Points of Interest….

PLAYING WITH A STAFF MESMER.

So this guardian specialization will go in 2 possible ways:

Either the encounters and boon/combo mechanisms really changed in this xpac, or this is the case where developers think a ranged support specialization is remotely relevant to PvE.

Also don’t knock longbow, who knows all staff weapons suck except ele staff so the guardian longbow might be that one exception with a hideously strong cleaving autoattack and lava font/potent aoe.

People celebrating Chronomancer, when they brought PvP garbage into PvE by making the temporal rift killable so every encounter with aoe spam may interrupt your continuum split immediately.

Also a dumb internal cooldown on not shattering phantasms and it needing a trait for such a functionality that should be baseline in PvE. All for PvP purposes.

I think you people will have to accept at some point they balance this game PvP/WvW first and PvE is not a priority.

The problem, And the thing i worry about, is the fact that they would aim to 50/50 win rate… That to an inexpert like me seems a big mistake, basically solo queueing the system give you a good team, AND if you win the next Match you have an horrible team to give you that 50/50… This is the problem, it is stale!
Only team premade can get out of this AND solo player have no chance… I think or should have been: you won a Match? Ok you are good , the next match you will have a stronger team AND stronger adversary trying to push you up with the wins, Not to a stale point like now, when you lose in the other AND you should face easier adversary AND other people that losed their match, in order to push them to learn to play, Not giving them stronger teammate where they dont belong only to be carried…

Since for how small, there are reward (ticket, AND small bonuses) for winning a wvw match, AND said match can only be won with ppt, the game mode is about to take more ppt than other server, for who play only wvw this are the game mode reward , this is Not an open pvp arena with no purpose, is a open pvp arena with a ppt goal… When they will change that wvw will become (do what you want)….
Example: sPvP , the goal is to reach 500 before other team, Not a deathmatch, so blame in who in a ranked match dont work for that,mmmok? So, why in wvw are people doing all they want AND call tryharder who want to play as the game mode is designed? Sorry to explain like that but is the only reality here….

The point is : wvwvw is a ppt tournament as it is now… So, if you dont care ,pls can you all go to a custom arena , AND FREE the queue for people interested in said “tournament”?… I mean its like i go in a dungeon AND refuse to finish the dungeon cause i dont care.. I bet i will be kicked… But in wvw we poor peeps that care are stucked in 30 min queue cause someone is dueling for 2 hours dont caring about the game mode he choose to play ? Is this the general consensus these days? At least this is only a problem of the high tier server… If no queue are there we will welcome you all folks

Someone are already saying its confirmed AND already implemented in the chinese client… So bye bye goes to: pve skipping, wvw escaping, pvp catching… Obviuosly they didnt thougt about guardian… So gg guardian in every game mode? Nope before we could intervention out of range enemy AND use that to move fast without engage in combat, now seems wont work anymore… Can’t even count the time i faked a falling to teleport back after :P
So with the patch if i teleport out of range it dont work and if im in range i will be stucked in combat

yeah they are all correct, just want to add: even if you are say a thief, and you barely escape a zerg incoming, teleport to garrison and start roaming again,ok?
Now with guardian you do the same, just after being stomped, anyway i didn’t see the thief turn back and kill the all zerg … if you can roam even duo, guardian power scale multiplicatively with other people near you, even if you fart you give boon to them, if you are medi (meta) you can give them (AOE) : might, regen, aegis, protection, heal, fury , blind to the enemy, and an handy immobilize… what do you want more from a class with a build full damage?

Watch tage, its clearly maybe that the class isn’t for you, not your fault! but i will say to you to stick and practice more with it, medi guard can be good in 1v1 as a glass cannon buster but its not his job, you need to look for team battle spike and control with hammer and alike… if you want to play medi guard as a thief or a shatter mesmer than yeah change, cause will not work

Mostly you should have some berserker, for the valkirye its up to you, i prefer bring some toughness with knight armor, or the ascended version that have precision as main stat (can’t remember the name) , cause you will have short burst of heal not big chunks anyways. but you feel too low on health and don’t have guard stack in wvw you can throw a backpack valkyrie and see how you do. If you want to check on metabattle . com there are some variations in the guardian category have fun

Just watched the WTS , congratulations to oRNG and TAGE (cmon its the guardian sub).
Proud to see our class do some amazing things, and i want to say even with a relatively new build, not bunker, not pure GS , but with great control and spike damage with hammer 2… gg guys .

its been since forever almost , when you summon a phantasm and you have might , his damage scale correctly, but if he take it he don’t benefit from the effect.
this could be a problem where he effectively soak up the might stak, maybe preventing some other player to benefit ( see for example guardian virtue 5 limit) but in the end his damage doesn’t change… other boon do not give problem… surely some kind of bug since phantasm power is based on ours, but anyway should be able to be affected from might, or remove the possibility to be affected at all, otherwise he just eat the stack without effect.

In being seriously, tib of post whining that the content is too difficult every where… Personally never seen an event fail if not for shortage of people ( like 20 in one entire map) AND that rarely happen, all just autoattacking mind less AND the event will Not fail… Maybe eu had different type of player? Im happy to see you start such an awesome initiative, but could we, for the mac client, have something for us too? at least push over wolf team to build a compatible app? Or more important , some of the featured apps for over wolf should and can be implemented directly on the gw2 client , i fear that the second of nice feature like boss timer are available from over wolf , we poor users of the mac (beta) client will never see it implemented in to the game for us too.
in the end , I’m positive on this kind of initiative , but really hope that some of the basic feature could be implemented for all the player base and not just half of it, I’m i wrong?

In the trailer you can clearly see a guardian unarmed doing some acrobatics to grab and toss away an ally from danger (when the dragon come AND spit fire, after the engineer part ) … So some type of monk, lets just hope have offensive meaning too, or another defensive tree that we dont need :/

Solution:

When condition cap is exceeded on bleeds, stacks with the least remaining time or damage immediately deal their remaining damage, or some percentage of it to their target and are replaced by the new stack.

This could work for poison and burning too.

Not sure about non-damaging conds, like confusion or vulnerability.

I think non damaging are fine, stack in duration, and vulnerability should have a cap anyway

All I can say is I’m so glad to finally have some word on this. It’s so bad in PvE these days that people don’t even consider condition builds, effectively relegating much of the traits and gear to the sidelines in this game mode. Build diversity and game complexity suffers.

Do I wish this had been fixed by now? Yes! But still, thank you so much for finally letting us know conditions are being looked at actively. Fixing this would revitialize PvE. And thanks to the OP for asking the question in a way that got it answered!

Thank you to take part in the discussion, its just that i like the game, and like invest my time in it, so was thinking about these kind of thing that can ruine the enjoyment of the game, like the game where you can build how you want but Not really, its a fact that who enjoy the pve side, have just 1 or 2 zerk build or have hard time with the game cause its a fact that the game actually dont require other than strait damage and even trying the condi way you can only meet a series of capping problem EVEN if you are the only dedicated condi in a party..

I think that some fast condi patch could easily compliment with some of the new raid possibly mechanics , like high toughness mob (non skippable) or with mobs that can move away from the stack, so condi could still put pressure during moviment fase of the mob ( chasing race??) , revaluating even cc and group composition diversification in a party. I know that every one in this game should be able to do the same thing, but that doesnt mean they should be a le with every build, like now zerker are king off all pve, in raid maybe a condy player could have a job, a cc player ( all class can build for cc utility) another, and zerker can continue to burst in determinated event in the fight… The famous cc, support, damage trinity, just more bounded to build and armor type choices, Not only prebuilt weapon functions and few utility like WoR… All that just with some change and specialization to specific condition.
Let su all have th esame possibilities, but add more dept and diversification throw stats and build

The devs have considered changes and some they’ve outright rejected where others are still in the running and need assessing in relation to the bigger picture that I mentioned earlier. If there aren’t details to provide overtly — and right now there are not — there is activity happening covertly. So I would say that progress has been made.

CDI on this? I don’t know what Chris Whiteside’s schedule is for CDI’s, and I know his bandwidth is stretched thin. (He has a boatload of stuff on his plate, that for sure!) However, I’ll ping him about that and he can consider if it would fall into the CDI format, and if so, when.

Im not expecting things to do anywhere soon. On a PvE basis, conditions are pretty much designed for a single-player game in terms of doing damage.

It’d take a revamp from the ground up to make conditions competitive or even viable in the case of Burn. On the other hand, since they don’t want to separate PvP and PvE, they have to make this solution sensible there as well.

It’s a nightmare.

Things would be a lot easier if they let go of this PvE-PvP unity. Then you got a lot more wiggle room to solve problems.

Yeah its a nightmare but take retaliation they capped it only for pvp, so they do that kind of thing… And i would say, all mm out there in the end have managed dot damage, in the end even gw2 will manage ( i hope) … As a last resource: put the condi damage as a static damage, like other have done ( i apply bleed on 1000 CD? It stay at 1000 even if might is added) so the server usage go dramatically down, is more “realistic”, and open new door to fix the problem, in the end having a dynamic damage but that cant be handled server side and cause only problem, is Not a feature…

How about a CDI for this? I’d love to try being a terrormancer in pve if it was useful. Maybe whenever the stack is hit it resets and gives the npc a severely damaging and stacking debuff? Like 25 stacks of bleed= 1 stack of gushing?

Up for the CDI , its time now, at least to talk about the subject openly! Its been underrated for too much in the community, when in reality its a real fault in the system

Easy fix for condition problem, LET THE MOST DAMAGING ( more condi damage ) OVERWRITE THE LESS DAMAGING , fast fix, easy to implement ( even i could program this) , condition spec are now at least usefull in open world content and dungeon, and Not much more stress for the server than now…
Ooooook now you can hire me anet?! Is it even possible this isnt came out of any develeper mind in this year? Im Not the only one supporting and promoting this feature

It’s not that simple. Take Burning for example, the Guardian’s only damaging condition.

If there’s more than 1 person using a guardian condition build in a group, it just doesn’t work for the second person. The way burning is designed just doesn’t work for a MMORPG because there’s going to be other people playing with you.

You are right, like i have poster in other topic, this would be a bandage, at least untill something could be done to remove the problem insteste of dodgerolling it…. Buuuut, that solution let at least welcome 1 condi spec in dungeon/ fractal, and can work better than now in open world… But yeah in the end im with you..
