Ive never understood why warhorn 4 wasnt a fear. I know everyone loves the daze but I just find it unthematic for Necromancer and have never used warhorn.

What? The daze isn’t just far better for a ton of reasons, a daze fits the skill.

We have access to one daze is all I mean (if Im missing others, its been awhile and just restarted playing after 2 years). I understand a wail and daze makes sense, I would just prefer more fears so that maybe terror would be worth a slot in a condition build. Luckily they added chill damage so Im relatively happy with condition builds after returning.

You can actually do more damage with the new skill set up now… I tried this today already all across PvE and WvW…

You can then stealth, then regain opening strike with the Remorseless Trait, apply 5 more stacks of vulnerability + 5 more from your pet.

Remorseless only reapplies opening strike to the ranger, not to the pet. I tested it in the mists just to be sure.

sorry, I made a mistake. Remorseless doesn’t reapply Opening Strike for your Pet when you gain stealth, because only you gain stealth. But I Know it works for when you kill an enemy. Sry for the mix up. But thats still 5 more stacks of might than you would of had with the old setup.

What if it reapplies your pet’s opening strike when your pet gains stealth? Has anyone tried this with a jaguar?

Or even guard perhaps?

Not even stopping there, think about apothecary builds with torch and warhorn on swap. Hey! How about some AoE frost armor after my frost trap pops? >:)

Powerbuilds can utilize this better with 2 leaps and blast to get 11 seconds of frost armor. Nearly 50% uptime by yourself. Though timing will be tough.

If they fix sigil then runes of melandru need to work in the same way and not reduce fear by taking the stun duration into account since it is not a stun.

Dungeons

How does one go about learning/getting into dungeon runs? Ive been level 80 for awhile and have mostly berserker stats for my Necro. Though I run a knights/cavalier/berserk for WvW(which is how I have leveled).

Does LFG work? Can I join random PUGs and just mention I have never run the dungeon before?

There aren’t any real dedicated WvW guilds in SBI, but if you’re looking for a group that does more WvW than anything else, I’d recommend either [TB] or [DC].

That all said, if you’re really interested in dungeons and things, my guild might be suitable, but I don’t want to put it all out there if you’re primarily looking for WvW.

I should have phrased the title better. Im primarily looking to shift into dungeons atm to get dungeon armor for the appearance. I have yet to run a single dungeon and am looking to learn them then help others after.

Rocket boots is the most exciting thing, buffs my build running P/S with healing turret with bombs. F1 + blast from boots for quick heal or smoke bomb + shield blast then boots for stealth.

So secondary bounce on reapers touch is 600 even with spiteful talisman? Kind of makes using Reapers touch at 1200 range pointless if it cant bounce between you and the target no? Sorry cant test due to being out of country.

The argument being, other allies, pets, other enemies could be within that range even if you are at 1200 distance.

I agree its irritating, and its the main reason I don’t take focus, because just the one hit from it without the bounce is no good. If it did rebound 1200 yards it would have to go very fast, much faster than the projectile moves right now.

Mesmers have the same problem with Greatsword 2. Just one of the things about the skill you have to live with I suppose.

I was just hoping that it would get a bump to somewhere around 900 with the trait. So initial cast would be 1200 and bounces being 900.

Confused as to why a condition build wouldnt grab some of the other fears in traits or the fear duration. 5 more pts in blood and reapers protection or take the 15 from spite for fear on down or put 20 in soul reaping and have fear on down and master of terror or lf on marks. Just interested in whats so impressive in 3 seconds of retaliation for a condition build

I think we know our stun breakers are lacking and pretty weak. Spectral Walk is our only decent one imo. Spectral armor is rather weak for the cd it has. If I wanted protection I could just take spectral wall instead. If they just gave it 6 seconds stability instead while keeping the 3%LF build up . In terms of being fair it would be comparable to Eles Earth armor because they get protection. I just want the stability, the protection can be lost in fairness.

Would give Necros finally some access to stability besides foot in the grave. Would allow me to potentially not get combo stunned over and over.

If they added this and reverted Dark Path to an area teleport like beta this would give us some mobility/repositioning power. The teleport doesnt need to be Blink distance, half the distance if they gave it a 1-2 second chill from where you jump from and a 3-4 second chill where you land (giving it in total a 5 second chill if you chose to cast in in melee range). CD may need adjusting.

Wonder if the bug will be addressed along with the nerf to the skill.

It was nice to be able to go invulnerable and maybe heal or get a “free” attack off but since there aren’t ANY other professions that can do things while they are immune to damage I can see why we need the change.

Eles could before nerf. Mesmers have distortion. Guardians can pop virtues with their invunl. Warriors can use all skills with endure pain. Rangers have protect with pets (though that hurts the pet so not really a complete immune). So any is a little off.

RTL also for PvE?

It’s an un-fun mechanic in my mind. The counterplay is to not move… oh great, that should be fun when I’m playing a thief and not moving means I die nearly instantly. I’m sure they could make the ticks not ridiculous when you move, but it just becomes an annoyance more of a fun, interesting interaction.

Kind of like how confusion is un-fun too but it happens to be way more spam-able. This would force classes to use their cleanse appropriately and decide what was worth cleansing. Allowing for our other skills like Chill to last rather than being cleansed. It would require us to determine which debuffs to put up because you wouldnt want Chill and this DoT on at the same time. Though it may get a bit ridiculous with terror builds…

Boon Hate

I recall the devs saying they were looking at giving us more boon hate, just don’t ask me to quote it because I have no idea where it is. We already have the most boon hate in the game, but hell I’d be happy for more.

Didnt they say that our Corrupt boon will be unblock-able in next patch too? This is the best part imo if so. I’ll take more boon removal or corrupts if they want tho

Even though it is unblockable I am holding judgement to see it it is actually going to work that much better. Right now CB is awesome when it works, which is at best half the time. Logically not being blocked it should be at least marginally better but atm even when it is not blocked or dodged I find it often does not fire correctly. A few weeks ago I was doing some limited testing and on a friend just standing right in front of me with boons on and doing nothing. CB would randomly have no effect. From what I personally saw I think its a LOS issue with uneven terrain but that is far from definitive.

I think it also has a flaw due to being a projectile (although fast) because projectiles seem to fly off in random directions sometimes. Ive had spectral grasp fly completely up and right on my screen even though the enemy is just straight in front of me.

The Dark Destroyer- PvE/DPS Build

The first build should take Close to Death rather than axe training because it revolves around DS and 20% on maxed life blast is some decent damage (then considering might)

I personally do 30/25/0/0/15 and go witha spectral build (though sometimes I switch for the BiP instead of spectral grasp). I like to mix the might stacking with the fury, also while Im primarily a power build I stack other conditions like weakness/poison/chill/vulnerability (not including other conditions the team brings)…so I like having 2% per condition in 2nd tree.

So 20% dmg (though on enemies with less than 50%hp), +2% per condition and full stack of vulnerability is easy for axe/focus with traited life blast (adds 2 vulnerability per hit…though I think its only on first mob hit)

What class can’t? Ever heard of stealth or Endure Pain?

Stealth doesnt make you invulnerable. But Im a Necro and Im pretty sure I dont have such a skill to heal while being invulnerable. Tbh the only class that had a similar ability was Engi with Potion S and that is getting nerfed the same way. You may have to just use Earth Armor as a weaker endure pain but with stability and adding regen if traited.

After reading this WvWvW is just annoying. If I get downed I have no shot of being rezed in group fights. I dont ever get stomped as a necro either, its so much faster to kill.

As a Axe/dagger + Axe/Focus oriented build, why cant Axe auto attack hit without a target? Dealing with thieves is ridiculously hard when they stealth…I cant even open windows in Clock Tower in spvp (though I can Unholy Feast them for Ret…but still). Am I forced to use Staff or dagger as another main, when I dont really want to because Im particularly fond of the control/debuffs attached to the axe and only want to swap offhands during a fight.

Opinions on juicy Dark Path buff?

I see alot of people say they use doom to set up other cc like dagger root and dark path

something is wrong when you need to use your hard cc to make sure your other cc hits to set up a well bomb or a gap closer

Thats exactly how I use it since I am not traited for fear duration but rather chill. I use fear to set up my dark path; timing becomes critical since you need to doom them before they are likely to dodge the dark path. Pretty much only way to make it hit a decent player.

Make it green and I think it would be cool. Though we have fear as a dot for our burst condition. But again we dont have too many fears to work with on that.

I’d like dark path if it was instant, kitten thing always misses in pvp when I’m chasing someone.

I love it in theory but its awful in pvp where the projectile is evaded by side stepping practically.

If they would just make it an area teleport, like blink or shadowstep. I would be fine with it missing then too since I would at least get the teleport without the chill/bleed. Would make sense since its an AoE chill/bleed too. This would also add some mobility to the Necromancer.

Necro skills and projectile speed?

Why are necro projectiles so ridiculously slow? Im pretty sure at one point I was outrunning either Necrotic Grasp or Spectral Grasp.
Also most 1 skills seem like they could use a buff in attack speed, not a lot but just a bit. They feel awfully slow.

Our only stability skill is Foot in the Grave and I just dont get why I need 3 seconds of stability in death shroud when I cant even stomp in the form.

Necros really need a teleport skill and maybe Im wrong but I thought in early videos Dark Path was originally a target type teleport (something like blink/shadowstep), why was that changed? It hardly hits in wvw/pvp as its so slow and dodging it is easy. It should be a teleport since it gives an aoe chill would allow for more skillful engages/escapes.

Fears seem really short and we only have 2 on weapons (others require downed, stun, reviving); I have never seen a character use a stun break on a fear. I know with traits it can get a bit better but 1 second seems awfully short compared to warrior fear and thief stolen fear. 4 seconds would be too much but 1 seems way too short.

Im surprised at the lack of poison on Necros; we have scepter chain 3 giving 2 seconds, chillbains/poison fields, corrosive cloud and signet of spite. Kind of wish I had rolled a human necro for the elite Grenth form. But Id like some sort of trait to add more poison options (maybe spectral skills applying it? spectral walk/armor having a small aoe poison)

I wont change from Necro as its the most entertaining to play but it really seems lacking.
