Free unlocks for LWs3?

Can’t say I really approve of the idea of gating access to paid for content with a log in window, but at least its a larger window than in the past.

It’s not paid for content. The content you paid for was everything you got when HoT launched plus raids. They never said you’d automatically get access to LS3 if you bought HoT only that you would need HoT to play LS3. If you misunderstood it’s on you. This announcement should have been the least surprising thing they have ever done.

As they only need silver and that you just need a few tries to get it usually (at least for me and many others I know), I think it is fine.

Didn’t they bump the requirement down to Bronze for all of these as part of the Spring Update?

Um any one else notice this?

More like who didn’t notice that? It’s no secret that was written and promised. And going back and changing that now seems like a bad idea. If they end up being totally canceled then sure, but right now? No.

Once we get legendary armor…. Everyone will look the same. I mean I’ve been wanting to get more armors because the old ones are getting old, but once there is legendary armor if you want to show off your prestige and hard work you don’t get to play around with different t looks. The silverwastes will be populated with a bunch of people wearing the same outfit.

Yea… unless I REALLY love the skins on the legendary armor I can pretty much guarantee I’ll reskin all of it. I don’t really care much about any “prestige”… mostly care about being able to easily swap builds fully.

Because if it didn’t have stat switching it would just be ascended armor with a different skin, not legendary armor.

Were you around prior to legendaries having the function to change stats? They were legendary because of the unique and noticeable skin. They were essentially ascended weapons with different skins…lol

Yes I was… and you seem to have forgotten the stat switching was added when Ascended gear was added to differentiate them from Ascended gear. The reality of now is what matters, not what existed before Ascended things were in game. Stat switching for legendaries is one of the main perks of Legendaries currently.

One of the main parts of any legendary is the skin. No skin? Shouldn’t have a legendary version.

Sure the skin is nice for legendaries but a big part of it is also the ability to switch your stats up on the fly, and this will be a big part of legendary armor as well because just by being able to switch the stats on all of your gear easily it makes changing whole builds on the fly easier. Runes are a big part of builds as well and if you are switching to a build that requires different runes having to extract them and out in new ones every time will be a pita.

It would be nice if there was some function with Legendary armor which would make that process easier.

Yeah .. wander around Tyria and suddenly find ALL Ambrite Weapons is always nice.

Oh … wait ..

I never at all implied you could get every single mastery point from wandering around and exploring. I was specifically saying it is really nice there are so many around which can be gotten that way. So your comment is a bit dumb.

I have been experiencing this, as well.

First, can you tell us if your guild looks fine? And if chat actually works, even with the message you’re getting?

Second, if you’re actually having issues (and not a false message), would you guys be willing to provide the guild name, guild tag, and server? One of our team members has been working a lot of hours on this case (thank you, Glen!) but he’s willing to look into some guild issues if he has information and as time allows. (Note, this will not be an instant fix because in some cases it requires manual intervention, so please be patient. Thanks! )

I was having this issue all day yesterday. Everything seemed to actually be fine though. I could view my guilds, go to our hall, talk in guild chat…. Just was getting the message for no apparent reason.

10+ people aren’t required to afford or acquire, or even level up a guild hall. I’ve seen it done with 5, though it probably could be done with fewer if they are particularly skillful. Also if you are having trouble clearing out the guild hall with less than 10 people you can always ask friends outside your guild for a had because people don’t have to be members of a guild to go in.

Guild Mission Problems

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Arlee.7038

Arlee.7038

Guild missions have been broken – in one way or another – since the expansion (this past week was the FIRST week we were able to do them all without experiencing a bug – and that apparently has already changed) – yet the Gorseval bug with raids (which affects far fewer people) gets fixed within 2 days. This should be considered unacceptable by the GW2 community.

Missions are a part of the game many of us care about – and honestly enjoy – and would like to see expanded upon well into the future.

While were at it, can we finally (after 2 + years) get some new guild missions.

You seem to have some weird misconception about how quickly a bug gets fixed being related to how important it is. It’s more down to how easy it is to recreate the bug, to isolate what’s causing it, and how difficult fixing it without breaking anything else. Sitting on the sidelines and shouting useless things about it being unfair something in raids got fixed quicker is just pointless and misinformed.

This is a bug and should be reported, honestly. Doesn’t merit the OP’s demands for removing the feature entirely.

Yea, this should be posted in the bug report forums so they take a look at it and figure out what causes it so it can get fixed.

XP not carried over to next line in mastery?

With the adventures it’s more frustration with myself. Not that I expect to get silver or gold on a first try, (I spent an hour on Ley-Line run to get silver). I just don’t have the speed or dexterity needed for some of them, and that’s ok. There’s plenty more for me to do.

Ah I gottcha There are quite a few giving me problems too. Getting silver on Haywire Punch-O-Matic was particularly rough because it made me motion sick ><

XP not carried over to next line in mastery?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Arlee.7038

Arlee.7038

Exp doesn’t go into the next tier but it does go into other unlocked and incomplete mastery lines if you have any left. For example if you fill up Exalted Assistance and leave it there and then continue earning exp, the exp will go into one of the other HoT mastery lines.

As for wasting exp. That is inevitable anyway. Once you max out your masteries it will be the same situation.

It didn’t carry over into the next line though. I spent the past two days playing thinking it would count towards Exalted Purification, not the entire line obviously but at least a percentage of it. Yet it’s sitting at 0%. So it looks like I can max out the exp but if I don’t have the mastery points to get it, then any exp after that won’t carry over into the next mastery in the same line.

Not the next mastery in the same line, but the next unfinished mastery in another line.

For example, If someone has a line on Exalted Lore filled up but doesn’t have the mastery points to accept it, they can switch over to a different mastery line, such as Nuhoch Lore, and start filling the next line up. You can continue to switch like that until you get one line of each mastery set filled with XP. After that you must accept one line with mastery points or lose the the XP gained (and even then you’ll only be able to train the next line of that one mastery set, as the others will still need mastery points in order to go further).

Now I get it. Thank you.

I also get there’s no point in playing until they add ways to get more mastery points, which is a shame because I was enjoying the new maps after getting used to them.

Have you found all the mastery points in all the maps? Aside from the ones marked on the maps themselves there are also various strongboxes to be found all over the maps which give mastery points for finding them. You can find a listing of these in each map’s achievement panel. If you don’t want to find them naturally through exploration you can look them up on the wiki to find out where to go. You get a bunch for doing the various chapters of the HoT Storyline as well.

You can also get Mastery points for doing various achievements in the maps, like doing every Rally point event chain in Verdant Brink.

I have map completion on all 4 of the new maps. All the masteries too I believe. I think there may be two I could still get in VB that aren’t adventures. I was considering going back to the LS to see what else I can get there, but when checking it shows an average of 7-8 achievements that need to be completed to earn 1 mastery point. And I’m pretty sure even then I would be short.

I don’t mind doing the work to get them, but I’m also aware of my limitations. I’m always willing to try (I finally completed the mushroom jump puzzle in TD after 2 hours WOOT), some things though are just beyond my ability. So I will wait until more ways are added and just do other things.

I’d definitely say take a look in the achievements tab to see what’s marked with the Mastery icon because the strongboxes can be super easy to miss. I didn’t even realize they existed until I was doing my second map completion >< Of course if you’ve been scouring through the achievements tab for the zones you’ll probably be set there already.

Yea if you’ve played the story all the way through once you’re left with having to do the story achievements, which can be difficult on their own.

I definitely understand the frustrations with Adventures though. The skill needed for them varies widely though and some aren’t skill so much as memorization.

People are being very optimistic on when we will see the next set. They already told us what we are getting in the march update so that one is out. The next update after that is June, but they already told us most of the june things we are getting, it seems unlikely they’d just leave legendaries out since they are a major draw. So i’d say the June update is unlikely.

What we got for info about the Spring update was more of a teaser of it more than an exact list of every single things which will be in the update. So it’s still possible the next ones will be with it. It’s also possible they’ll be part of one of the smaller updates before the next big update.

If they are not released by spring (at least 3..) I would hope/expect that, that would cause a negative lash out from their loyal fanbase (which they should aim to avoid, and hence give us what we want). I mean there should be repercussions for not delivering promissed content, right?

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I know I’ll be pretty disappointed if we don’t get any new Legendaries either before the Spring update or with it. I care less about how many are next, though one would be disappointing. I mean we have 12 left, and I’d honestly rather they come out with them as soon as they are ready rather than holding them so they can always do 3 every time.

So Anet hasn’t forgotten it. Right now they are mainly focused on WvW and some other current content stuff. Don’t know when living story 1 will be available but at one point it will be available.

What’s available in the story journal is a short recap cutscene of the events of Season 1. It’s meant to help fill in the blanks for people who missed it. Also, no one ever seems to remember the whole “putting up signs for refugees for a month” part of Season 1

Fall dmg Trait useless after Gliding update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I still make use of my falling traits, especially on my Revenant because I also get a bubble that reflects projectiles so I’ll often glide into the middle of those awful archer frogs and release my glider just high enough to take a small amount of damage. And then I watch the frogies literally shoot their faces off

It’s also useful if you are messing around with Halo jumps and jumping puzzles, and in WvW where you can’t use gliders. So while they are less useful than they were before, I wouldn’t say these traits are useless.

HOT has little to no useful purpose to ‘exploration’, you’ll see most of it during the metas.

HOT actively discourages exploration. What was GW2’s original joy is crushed under the thorny weight of Mordremoth. ;_;

I disagree with that, been having a lot of fun exploring the maps and finding all kinds of random places and things. Heck I didn’t even know about the Mastery Points from the strongboxes in zones until I randomly found one in Verdant Brink. Sure you can’t just wander and not pay attention to your surroundings… but then if you aren’t paying attention to what is around you I’m not sure how much exploring you really are doing.

Dragon Stand is probably the hardest to explore, but even then you can do that if you want. Just much more limited on time.

You always get one coat when you do Vinewrath the first time. The others are RNG and only available from Vinewrath.

You can also purchase the other pieces from a vendor in the first area of SW. The boots aren’t available on the vendor until you do the defending the skritt ambassador thing. But yea the coat box is always the reward for the first time you beat vinewrath and then after that you get a random box.

Shatterer Achievements

Arlee.7038

It is bugged, however beyond the achievement it is simply not necessary to break his bar. His storm isn’t dangerous at all, so what incentive is there for people to break him once their achievement is done?

You get triple damage done to him after his bar is broken so the fight is over that much quicker if you do break him.

In itself is an excellent feature…however he’s completely killable without that with very little effort from the groups. So again, no one feels it is necessary to do so

The healing crystals show how a mechanic can incentivise a group. If players don’t wake up and organise here, it can cause an unexpected downfall.

Perhaps the lightning storm can insta kill or causes an earthshake to launch players right out of the valley so they have run back. It just needs a reason for it to exist in the fight that makes a genuine difference to whether it fails or succeeds.

I think that’s mostly because right now there are enough people to just brute force kill him. In a few weeks when there’s less people regularly doing it, it’ll be a bigger problem.

HoT confusion

Arlee.7038

How come there are no heart task to do like in the other parts of the game?.

Hearts required imagination and a respect for the RPG elements of gaming. So they were jettisoned….

Now you have Adventures! Nintendo styled platform events that have no place in a MMORPG.

Hearts required imagination and respect for roleplaying? They were put in the game, as per Anet, to get people to areas were dynamic events were. That’s why they were put into the game. They didn’t even exist in the first two betas. People simply didn’t understand a game without static quests, so they had to put in these places near were events spawned and keep them there.

Anet didn’t add hearts for some bizarre RP reason. They added them to make you stay in one place long enough for an event to spawn.

All of this. Also, there aren’t any hearts in HoT because there are constantly events all over maps and we are entering into enemy territory and we don’t have any permanent settlements here so it would make less sense to have Heart objectives.

No I haven’t had that feeling in the new maps. Bloodborne had moments where I wondered if maybe I just suck at games whereas in HoT it was more of “hmm I should try to do this better” or “I need to tweak things a bit”. I mean in the beginning of the xpac I did switch up my Ele’s build a bit to be a bit more resilient, but now I am back to being totally damage focused and it’s fine. The map still feel dangerous but I generally can run around on y own without much of an issue (Tangled Depths is probably hardest in this respect). I just feel like Bloodborne’s difficulty is way higher than HoT’s.

The honest answer… we don’t know how HoT really did and we don’t know how GW2 is really doing at the moment. The last financial report was on Nov. 4th for third quarter 2015, which probably had some HoT pre-sales on it (and incidentally GW2 was doing good at that point) but it by no means shows the whole picture and we won’t know more until the 4th quarter 2015 report comes out.

As far as how many people are actually playing or not currently… it’s all anecdotal.

AFAIK HoT presales were not included on that report. Almost every MMO only actually uses the presales on the quarter it actually releases. I read something about this a while back, but can’t remember where.

Yea I don’t know for sure if they were or not, the report doesn’t say. The dates for the quarter though means some of them could have been included in the figures. No way to know for sure though.

Well anet could always have a public test server where the community and the devs could collaborate on new balance and feature patches before they hit the live server, and not have a week of bug fixes because you bug fixed 95% of the issues while it was in actual testing, not by a few QA guys that clearly dont know anything about the classes they are balancing.

Lol, you do realize even MMOs with extremely robust PTRs always have all kinds of fixes and balance tinkering after any major patch. What you are talking about is great in theory but PTRs just don’t workout that way for many reasons.

It would be nice if the golems that are in Heart of the Mist could be placed or unlocked in the guild halls. It would be another upgrade to work towards (sink) and it I’m sure the PvE community would be quite attracted to this upgrade.

No sense in making everybody go to PvP to experiment with their builds anymore when we have Guild Halls. The stats aren’t the same in PvP vs. PvE, and it’s truly an inconvenience.

Agreed, allowing the same names is awful for many reasons. The naming system in GW2 is awesome. You can have one name, you can have two names, you can have a name that includes a title, etc… there’s a TON of flexibility.

Eh, I like having different looks for the different weight classes and I don’t really see why everyone should be able to use the look of everything. I know outfits already do that but they are completely different from armor and you can’t mix and match them. Having limitations isn’t an inherently bad thing.

" It takes a lot of work to craft these legendary journeys for release, so rather than take the time to develop the full set before releasing any of them, we will be releasing new legendary weapons in small groups at regular intervals until the full set of sixteen has been added to the game. Collections for the existing legendary weapons will be available on launch day, while the first three new legendaries will become available shortly after launch, alongside raids."

There’s the link to the full blogpost, I doubt the reasoning has changed in the intervening time and I’d guess we’ll get them with the next raid wing. Colin also mentioned last Friday he’s seen some of them so it’s not like they haven’t been working on them.

I’m in the same boat – all dyes unlocked and 5 of those things sitting in the bank.

Don’t hold your breath – they have released two new dye sets since it came out and they didn’t add them. Historically, once they make something like this, they don’t get around to updating it.

There are a number of systems in the game where little to no consideration was given to what might happen when maximalist players maximize.

Luck is the other looming problem – those of us with maximum magic find have found that 1/7th of our daily rewards are useless and worthless.

A luck eater or converter is long overdue.

One Spirit Shard per stack of exotic luck? That’s not going to shake anything up but it would give us a drain for the luck we’re drowning in.

o.O I’m fairly sure the Glint Dye Pack wasn’t part of it when this was originally added, but it was definitely an option when I got another about a month ago.
