Right now everything is delayed for me. Even logging in is currently a chore. And it’s only GW2, other games I play, like Warframe and BDO, are working just fine.
Anet bows to SJW’s eh?
It’s not going to happen, because half of what you ask simply isn’t possible anymore.
Also, I get it, for a ‘’leaderboard hunter’’ like yourself, it may make AP hunting useless, but I look at the chests and I find I have plenty of motivation to hunt after certain achievements I never bothered with before, even if only to get the next chest of free stuff.
From what I understand they’ve become harder to get, and naturally, when something is harder to get, people have less of it, and will be less likely to just pop one.
You understand AN has to make money somewhere right?
Selling it once, fine, forcing us to buy it multiple times because they implemented it badly, possibly intentionally, is just a cash grab.
And that has nothing to do with ‘’having to make money somewhere’’.
Shared slots isn’t really a solution, it just made having multiple sets useless, you still have to literally unequip and switch it over every time you change character, rather then just having them on all characters on purchase.
Plenty of even pure F2P games have their premium items like such harvesting tools, as account unlocks, it only makes sense, account unlock makes the purchase very valuable and convenient for a player, the prospect of having to get it for all characters, provided you use 3 or 4, like me, is often a massive turn off from getting it at all.

This is -never- going to happen.
Arenanet has always prided and advertised Guild Wars as -not- having monthly fees.
But.. but.. your character wants to tell you they could outrun centaurs!
I’m at 1744 daily AP now, with having played since July 23 2015, I reckon it’ll take me at least 3 or 4 more years to reach that cap.
To me removal of cap means nothing right now, unless removing it affects me negatively.
It sounds to me like you barely have the time to even log in.
I would have liked if it did what the description said.
‘’Replace your gathering tool on all characters’’, like, you buy it, and your miner slot is permanently filled with a perma tool on all characters, with the variations being skins, shared inventory slot already killed multiple purchases of them, so they may as well.
….really?
I for one was annoyed with how the Shared Storage box mixed with my others at the top, making it seem like I had one excess slot at the bottom when I didn’t, which made it look wonky depending on how I shrunk the window.
That being said, I still appreciated the free slot and didn’t make a thread raving about it…Personally, I think being able to distinguish it from my own bag slots would be a good thing. Although I feel they should’ve given an option to put it either at the top or bottom of the inventory, I’m happy enough with not potentially mistaking it for one of my bag slots.
I dunno. I’ll have to check it out after this long update, but it feels like this is being blown out of proportion
So basically.. it’s now fixed for you and the ones who were negatively impacted by that non-optional fix are blowing it out of proportion..?
Are people actually completely overlooking how useful the Shared Slot Bag is?
For people who primarily just play one main character, it has very little use. It’s one bonus slot and nothing more if you play no other characters. Everyone is different. Everyone has different needs.
That’s why ANet needs to learn how to implement OPTIONS… something they almost always seem unable or unwilling to do for some reason.
Yep it baffles the mind they haven’t figured out OPTIONS are the best course of action every time.
Because sometimes OPTIONS are a viable choice for them to add. Sometimes the code will just not allow it. Sometimes trying to add it could actually break things.
Say they add the ability to hide shared inventory slots, but it breaks the game and actually hides every bag. Would you still want the option?
I would want them to tell us the engine doesn’t allow it, like how they honestly admitted the ‘’you are selling too fast’’ on the trader can’t be removed.
I’d respect that a lot myself, it’s more honest then empty promises or excuses.

Problem is, if they do something for one thing, be it Salvager, tools, bank access, or anything, they have to do it for all items in the same situation.
They can’t really justify it otherwise, and off course, instead of doing it for all, it’s just easier to not do it at all then.
If there is one category of complaint that consistently puzzles me it is the inventory stuff. I just don’t get why so many folks care so passionately about their bag layout. Surely it is a minor irritation at worst. I just have one “fixed” bag with the keys and consumables in and then treat the rest like a big bucket. I salvage, sell and deposit stuff then hit “compact” to make it neat. It just does not seem that important. <scratches head>
For me it’s purely an irritation of where I expect a specific tool to be, like my Salvage-o-Matic, as a result of this I’m now constantly porting to the HoM because it’s portal stone is now where I normally had my salvager.
I do not understand how the change could have caused this, but it sounds like you could just put the salvage kit where the portal stone is now and trivially fix it yourself.
That is what I did, which has left the shared slot my salvager was in, unused.
If you have only one shared slot isn’t it now at the top left of your inventory? I would think that you would choose the wrong thing once or twice then you would remember, top left. Not the other spot. And remove the portal stone for a day or two until the muscle memory has taken hold, if you needed to.
Or, they could not cave to the wants of one group, without considering those who actually thought it was fine as is, ergo, optional.
I wasn’t talking about what ANet might or might not do. I was talking about what you could do to fix your problem of using a portal stone when you want a salvage kit, which was putting the portal stone away for a few days and put the salvage kit in the shared spot. Doing that will cause you to remember that’s it’s in a new spot without chancing using the portal stone.
You can do that and still complain about ANet messing up your inventory. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Fair enough fair enough.
Are people actually completely overlooking how useful the Shared Slot Bag is for the fact it makes their eyes hurt for some reason? I mean, yeah. I also completely agree it needs a hide/show button which I’m pretty sure Anet will add later on, as they always add the convenient stuff in time.
But no, really. Talk about millennial stereotype.
People are complaining about the unused space.
Imagine if your nose was by your chin, and there was an empty gap where your nose was supposed to be. Would you kitten about us kittening about bad interface changes then?If you like the way it is the you should kitten off, as this is a complaining thread to get ANET to fix it.
I bid thee a fiery shaft for thy’s watery hole!
This.
If you’re fine with it, then why are you having a go at those of us that aren’t? I myself didn’t post in the threads by people who felt appalled at how it was before this change, because I didn’t share their view, I could understand their frustration, but I felt no desire to actively share my ‘’Oh no I’m perfectly fine with how it is’’ view.
Just because it’s now fixed for those who despised the shared slots being part of their one block inventory, doesn’t mean the other camp, of which I am one, should now just stay silent now that were the ones holding the short stick, just because Anet can’t figure that perhaps they should have made it optional, or a part of the hide/show bags function.
Some of you are now making it sound like it was only an issue while it was affecting -you- in a way you didn’t want, and now that it’s fixed for you, we are supposedly whiners because now it’s forcibly made to be a way -we- don’t like, just as it was for you.

While anet may not appreciate the language, here’s a nice summing up of how people -still- feel about this:

Surely those two items are in your shared slots and so have not moved? Anyhow, I fully support everyone’s’ right to be upset. I’m just a bit surprised at the intensity of it.
They’ve moved upwards with the two slots, and left the portal stone where I normally pressed for my salvager, I don’t calmly salvage, often I partake in an event, press I then immediately double click the salvager where I expect it to be so I can quickly clean some inventory space for the event I’m in.
Another grievance is that this goes against my standard inventory view and the function to show or hide bags, I hide bags because I don’t want to see them, I want one block of inventory wherein everything is.

For the record, never been to HoM in GW1, have my accounts linked, and have 3 points, and the accompanying heritage parts.
You need only link accounts and own EotN, good luck with anything else, I was quite eager to get the rewards, until I realized the effort it was going to take in a now practically empty game.
I can barely even force myself to play through the story of the expansions/base game I have to get more then the 3 points I have now lol.
To me, someone who never could get into GW1 due to how the map system worked, the whole ‘’your own private copy of the world’’ thing, it just all feels too dated now, immediately I get irritated with functions I don’t have in GW1 that I do have here.
Kudos to all those 50/50 folks, either because they played GW1 for years, or because they could do what I can’t now, I’ve long settled for the 3 points and -maybe- get just what I need to complete the heritage set.

I am now officially no longer using the shared slot I got for my salvage o matic because I’m now constantly pressing the Hall of Monuments Portal Stone that was next to it, put my slot back where it was and I’ll use it again. >.>
So… anet, instead of thinking of something -optional- and make both sides happy, you just turn the problem upside down, kitten off the other end, people like me who are now pressing another kitten ed item because I was used to my salvager being there, and call it fixed? Bad call anet.
When I press to disable show bags, I do it because I don’t want anything separated inventory wise, now you -force- separate my shared slots, come on, you have a cogwheel where you gave us various options, what is this kitten?

I hated the original story but LW story is kinda cool, I’d suggest you give it a try. No more Treeharne!! Got some beatiful ladies instead.
Beautiful ladies? I thought they were wooden planks.
I’ll take the original story over LW part 2 anyday, characters like Zojja, Caithe, Logan, Rytlock and Eir are far better to me then the new kids on the block.
kitten to the no, no B&S or TERA like armor in GW2 please, hell no, it’s not the setting or game for it, and it shouldn’t be bend out of shape to make it that way either.
Want half naked oily skin girls, go play TERA or B&S, just like I did, and leave it out of GW2.
The only thing keeping me from investing in a T3 Cultural Armor set.. is that it’s throwing gold away, you literally can’t use it for anything or do anything with it other then delete it, so it’s literally tossing almost 100 gold away if you buy it the regular way.
Just got this myself for the second time in 24 hours, luckily both times in the explore fase, I’d be very kittened if it was mid event.
And generally I seem to crash at least once during a DS run, and often in HoT areas, whereas I rarely crash in Central Tyria.
(with the possible exception of the female Norn PC voice — that’s the entire reason I rarely play my female norn toon).
What do you have against the voice of Aela the Huntress? o.o
On topic, it wouldn’t surprise me if Zojja does die or otherwise ends up in a position that leaves her of not much use, Logan as well, it wasn’t hard to see that what they went through was of great effect to them, Zojja more so then Logan.
I think HoT was mostly a good deal for people like me, I got HoT in June and GW2 base game was included, so both for the price of one.
I personally feel a bit different, most people are like ‘’This is it? That’s not worth it!‘’ I think it is, it’s 4 PvE maps, a 17 chapter long story, raids, event chains to keep you going for hours, it’s plenty more then an average game has for that price.
You also need to consider something else, most likely all future content will be HoT based, people whine ‘’this now requires HoT, so does that’’, it makes perfect sense, as HoT is what they physically sell now in stores.
You’re going to get left behind, that’s a simple fact, the gap in what GW2 base gives you, and what HoT adds, is only going to increase.

I find myself stuck in Forest of Niflhel.
Update: Seems I was unstucked, thank you.

I love how you start with ‘’you take all this stuff and content away from new players’‘, and then the rest of your post is ’’waaaah waaah waaah my sense of accomplishtment AND THEY GET FREE PASS!!!!!!1111’’.
This is hardly limited to SAB, just about every event is fun to the point where you want to keep it.. but then it also stops being something special.
I loved the mad king’s labyrinth, found it very fun to run around there getting candy corn and such, but the apepal and playerbase for it will dry up once the novelty of it wears off.
With that in mind I’d rather keep SAB a temporary event, though it would be nice if they give a bit more of a clue of when it will return, that tends to work a bit better then going ‘’Soon™ ’’
Sooooo, Anet, unplugged something that shouldn’t have been unplugged?
forcing players
That, is never a good thing.
Nobody wants to be ’’forced’’ to do things in a videogame, that’s what real life is for.
Ranked is too rewarding to not play it, a reward with every tier, with every division, not to mention generally better matchups then unranked ever had.
I hate to weigh down serious business PvPers with my mediocrity, but I am not going to screw myself out of the shinies ranked gives over unranked.
That is an interesting suggestion. Who else would you like to see as returning heroes in stronghold?
Sieran and Forgal, Tybalt isn’t the only mentor who died. >.>
I dunno, the campaign didn’t feel short, but then, after every 2 or 3 chapters I had to spend two or three hours mastery grinding, so that may have made it feel like a longer story then it actually is.
The only thing that has kept me from perma tools is the fact that it’s not an account unlock, that you can reclaim on all characters, same with the copper salvager.
Right now I only use the latter on my main, because they cannot expect me to buy 6 of those, and I can’t be kitten d to bank it every time I switch character.
Say what you will about being able to bank them and stuff, but if MMO’s like SWTOR and even Star Trek Online have account unlocks for just about anything priced higher then 5 euros, I would expect the same in GW2, which has a far better business model in my eyes then both of the aforementioned examples.

If you go to a retailer that isn’t listed as authorized or whatever by Arenanet, in search of a ‘’too good to be true’’ bargain, then the risk is also yours.
I’d much, much rather pay Arenanet’s price with no chance of having to deal with bullkitten as described in this thread, then save that little bit of money and ultimately get screwed because it was indeed too good to be true.
In the end, if you do get screwed like that, Anet has zero responsibility for it, other then off course making sure you -can- still play core game, they are not obligated to rectify your bad choice and essentially give you HoT for free, from Anet’s perspective anyway.
(edited by Artorius.6178)
Can you PLEASE stop.
First, Because of all the nerfs already I’ve basically finished all the content in less than a week.
With the exception of a few more masteries. Don’t ask for easier mobs or easier events, learn your class, learn how to move, stop ruining the game for higher skilled players. Run in a group if you really need too. Join a guild, do ANYTHING just stop asking that this gets easier.
Second, stop running your mentor tag and your commander tags if you dont know what you are doing. I just did Dragons Stand with 5 other commanders that had no idea what to do and attacked the invincible spitfire for roughly 5 minutes. While the people onmy tag laughed and did the escort.
Third, Yes, i agree. HoT is difficult. But where is the fun in something you can solo? or rush through? In HoT (not including tyria) Im already 40+ just playing running around with guildies.
You know, you’re lecturing ‘’people with less skill’’ for being utterly selfish, yet, do you have any idea how utterly selfish -you- are sounding with your post? You’re literally telling casuals and less naturally skilled players to ‘’git gud you filthy casual’’ so that they can adapt to you and the difficulty elitists like you desire.
correct me if im wrong but dont Commanders have squad chat ?
Mentor tags are also not usable in WvWvW as far as I’m aware?
Correct.
HoT "Hearts & Minds" Boss Issues [SPOILERS]

I had the same earlier also, eventually I just redid the entire quest with a party of 5, and even then it wasn’t a breeze.
Well, I finally got the whole quest done in a group of 5, and yes, it literally felt like this was meant to be done in a party of 5.
This fight is bugged to hell, every time you die against Mordremoth, all the difficulty that build up in your previous try remains from what I’ve seen, meaning every try you make becomes increasingly harder from the start, in a fight that’s already making you play at your best.
Edit: Oh, and hilarious, I just died because the kitten ed rift to free Braham was in the air, with no way at all to reach it, seriously Anet, did you guys even test this?
For now I’m done with this, I’ve got a blasted headache from it, an already challenging fight made near impossible by bugs.
(edited by Artorius.6178)
I honestly don’t know how you’d 3 man a 40 or so man zerg. o.o
Am I the only one that has really been enjoying HoT so far?
I mean when I farmed for poison mastery, it was tough, but I just explored and did events on the way. I feel like a lot of the complainers are trying to rush the content.
EXACTLY. Remember Vanilla Guildwars 2 on release….. You had to earn those utilty’s and even then couldn’t unlock all your skills when a new section opened because of lack of skill points. It seems people have forgotten that. Slow down and enjoy the story and hidden secrets.
Story = Mastery walls
I don’t think you lose out on the xp. At least a couple of times I’ve trained my mastery tier and picked my next one and was already a chunk into it. Eg Exalted Lore, I picked that after getting Lean Techniques in Gliding, and had 17K xp applied immediately. I don’t think they’re letting any XP be wasted.
They are, it even explicitly says so, that at any time where you don’t have a mastery actively training, all XP you gain is lost.
how can you get 635,000 exp in an hour? i mean if 2500 hours if play gets me nothing…. I don’t understand how you can get 635k in an hour?!?
Lol, there are players that are mad and make stuff up. Leveling up masteries is same as levelling up. at Level1 mastery you need 50k exp, level2 mastery you need 100k and so fourth. Its very easy to get 50k exp you can get that in half an hour
What are you smoking? Gliding and other HoT masteries cost 500k at level 1.
Yeah, I was kinda annoyed when I realized I first had to grind an hour to earn the privilege of spending mastery points I have to earn.
