That’s a good thing to do, so thanks for the work. Keep in mind that lately they are making some stealth changes to armor (specially dungeon ones) so each patch some armors are being fixed. Also, some links with pictures would be great because most people don’t know armor by the names.
Yesterday I went to check all dungeon armors, and all except two have holes for the tails. Have they changed some of them or were like this before?
According to my screenshots I made about a year ago, Caudecus’ Manor, Twilight Arbor, Sorrow’s Embrace, Citadel of Flame, Honor of the Waves and Crucible didn’t have a tail hole or tail flap (light, male armour).
I noticed that on medium too, but I wasn’t sure about it because I had no older screenshots to check. So there is hope indeed!!
Wings on my char make him look like a fanged and horned bumblebee, so no thanks.
Also, please fix the behaviour of back items on every race, then make more of them.

I would make a new feature that gave me 1000 bucks each time I click the mouse button.
I agree that the female stand is reallistic, as Lord Kuru stated well with his link. However, male stance is not that dumb, and it was also used in 2handed sword fencing. Back in the days, most 2handedsword were just sharp in the last 2/3 of their length because the first one is rarely used in slashing, receives most of the hits and for some close combat techniques, you have to put your hand in the first 1/3 to use the point properly.
That from the perspective of European swords. Katanas and oriental swords were sharped all the way because they were mostly slashing swords with little thrusting capacity.
But the idea of someone “chopping his head off” because he´s putting his sword on his shoulder is as dumb as consider the female stance “weak”.

Your Charr looks really nice 9/10
Here is my Engineer
Which dyes are those? That brown is really nice, I’ve looking for something like that but didn’t manage to find it.
Maybe it’s a coincidence, but yesterday I ran through the Orr maps on my server [RoF] and I didn’t found any orichalcum ore. I found many orr saplings though.
So they are fixing things bit by bit. Good news.
bows and short bows always gave me wood.
worst post ever?
I chose a Charr Thief, got the smallest size and the smallest horns and went for the “tiger” look. For me it fits really good, it’s like a sneaky predator, perfect for the Ash Legion. The only issue is that is difficult to find good looking armor, but if you spend some time mixing armor and trying different combinations and colors you will have a unique, great looking character. And I hope they will fix the most annoying issues with the armor for the tails and shoulder clipping.
Hi Nero!
Your guild looks a lot of what I’m looking for, thanks for the offer. But I’m not in the mood of changing server for the moment because I have good friends playing in RoF and I don’t want to pay for the transfer. If more friends give up playing I will consider it, but for the moment I will stay in RoF.
Hi there,
I was in a small guild on RoF server but then most of them quit, so I would like to join a new one!
I play like 2 hours a day after work during evenings and more time on weekends if I have the time. My main is a Charr Thief, DP/SB, mostly WvW oriented but I like to do Open PVE /Dungeons too.
I’m looking for a nice group of people with similar schedule as me to do PVE and WvW more or less regularly, and to have fun above all.
So if anyone has a guild and is interested, please answer here or contact me ingame (Bjornen Bloodclaws is my main)
It’s good news that they are taking into account the aesthetical changes for charr, even if they change something no one asked for (I prefer the new one by the way). Step by step I guess…
Zivs, narf dem.
It is funny to see people that only believes the part of GW lore that they are comfortabl e with. People, if you are going to believe a game’s lore (that is fiction created by devs,so it is not something to take very seriously btw) you have to think of it as a whole thing, not just “I believe the things on GW1 but now this thing is unbelievable for me because it makes me change the way I see something”. Kinda lame.
Back on the topic…My main is a Charr, and I really like him. But the thing with the tails/horns and the lack of good looking medium armor for him is frustrating. I don’t think I will play another Charr just because of this. And if I had to decide my main again, it wouldn’t be a Charr for those reasons. The rest is fine. The Charr race is fine with its story and its looks, and I really like the idea of a strong and war-oriented race like them to become part of something bigger and slowly change their minds to help other races to fight a bigger threat.
As is said here: P/P is broken and, on top of that, is boring. It’s Unload all the way and nothing else.
SB is pretty fun and useful, but I don’t see it as a main weaponset. I run D/P and use SB when things get messy and I have to kite or when I’m with the zerg to help until people get scattered, then I go melee and kill ranged/clothed unaware people
Hi there
I’m actually using basic salvage kits for Whites/blues/greens and Master/BL for yellow/exotic if needed, but I don’t know if I should use higher ones for blues/greens and if that will improve my economy. Has anyone done the math?Does de % of getting better mats overcome the price increase of the kits?
Thanks in advance
There is also an option activated by default that makes enemies solid so you can’t go through them. If you deactivate it, it is easier to go for the target’s back.
Are personal tastes a bug? IMHO, and at least for medium armor, the 3 tiers are fugly except a few pieces.
I think this is not lazyness or not awareness…it is just priorities. I work as a dev team leader, and usually we know about a lot of issues on our software, but we don’t have enough time/resources to fix the non-urgent ones and we are also chained to the new requirement of the business, so we are always doing new things and fixing urgent issues, but medium and low ones nevet get their time.
So what our customers tend to do when they want something fixed and their pleads are not attended? They escalate the issue and then they make a lot of noise about it, so it becomes a hot-urgent topic…and then it is included in our planification and we fix it.
Here is the same problem: They don’t have the time and consider other things more urgent to do, so the only way to have this things fixed is to make a lot of noise about them and make them urgent and blocking. The protest was a nice first step, but we need more activity.
So there is a thread on the General Forums about this topic and I think there is a nice oportunity to participate there and let more people hear about the issues on Charr armor: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Did-the-Charr-armor-protest/first#post2611236
I really hope that the protests got some attention, because right now armor for Charr is a mess. Is not only the clipping most armors have, there are outraging things like the tail going through the armor in 90% of the sets (even the ones available purchasing gems) and the issue with char faces/horns and helmets.
My main is a Charr thief and I have few options for the looks that are not bugged, and new sets keep coming with the same flaws.
I feel rushed to do stuff. There may be a breaking point when I decide I cannot keep up and I stop playing altogether.
I feel like that too. I know it is not mandatory, but I have so many things to do outside living story that updates are too fast for me, and leave them half finished and with the feeling that I have things not done and they will never come back.
Outside of that, the feeling that the world is advancing and things happens is great.
7/10 Thunderfuse sounds great for Charr Engi, but Dextarr sounds a lot like “Dexter” and it sounds like Dexter’s laboratory (would be cool for Asura).
- Bjornen Bloodclaws, Thief. A little too hotblooded for stealth operations, but still a valuable member of Ash Legion.
Another patch…I have to ask, but no hopes…anyone noticed something fixed for Charr armor?
I think the best way to deal with thieves is to cut their 2 main weapons: Mobility and stealth.
If I run into a well organized group in WvW, they always CC me to death in a few seconds if I don’t manage to escape.
For the stealth, there are 2 important things to know. The first is that thieves still take damage from stealth, so they are very vulnerable to AoE damage if you know where they are. The second thing to know is that most stealth skills are very noticeable so when a thief stealths, you will always know it, either with the black field for the bp+hs combo, or the huge house for SE, or the hit for C&D… if you are aware of us, you can easily know when we are stealthed and where, and if you know that, we are dead.
AC pants? I am AC-traumatized
Arah Mid is really great, a screen to prove it fits snuggly on Charr:
Arah Mid is a clear example of a good job for Charr armor, that tail looks great. It’s a pity that is not very common.
I bought all my exotic gear in the BLM with the money I got doing WvW/map completion, selling all mats an salvaging for ectos without having to farm any map/dungeon. The only thing I crafted were trinkets, using the mats I gathered and buying the few ones I didn’t get.
It’s crazy that even armor that you buy with gems does not fit charrs. You don’t want Charr money?
In my opinion they shouldn’t give more tokens, because tokens exchange for exclusive equipment and that is the real prize. The reward is that everyone that looks at you arah armor will think:
1. “That’s some good looking armor”
2. “That guy ran a difficult dungeon a couple of times, so he should know what he’s doing”
If more tokens are given, this won’t happen, as everyone will have it.
Thanks! Did not see that thread, the topic name isn’t very descriptive. Anyway, time to do a new thief!
Hello guys.
I really liked the first hood you get when you create your thief, but when I started playing I deleted it because I didn’t know that the looks could be transferred to other items and I thought that there would be cooler hoods out there (silly me).
Later I’ve discovered the amazing beauty of medium armor helmets, and I’m missing that hood a lot. Is there any way to have it back?I haven’t found anything similar on the BLT and the other hoods I like would requiere farming dungeons.
Thanks!
As Zacchary said, I’ve noticed also an improving on people dealing with thieves, as they have learn how to counter the cheesy backstab combos and now more people knows what to do when they encounter a thief. Now I’m getting a lot more of CC on me as soon as I engage, and then get a lot of hits until I’m able to escape. So I guess the glasscannon way is getting old and it is time to use some points in toug/vit.
I haven’t played it yet because it seems too “outside of the game” and it takes too long to enter into it for the first time.
In Wvw I started playing as soon as I entered: same gear, quick explanation about whats going on and a lot of fellas willing to help (as they are on the same team as yours).
In SPvp, there is a lot of differences from the usual Pve: you lose your gear, you have to try to understand how everything works and then you enter a match and usually you get destroyed for being in a pug team vs a good coordinated team.
I think it is not very user friendly and it has no real interest from “casual” Pvprs, because there is no good part on it, you don’t get real rewards and you don’t have chances to win, no matter how good you are, because you never get a good team.
I find them awful, I wish swords would look more like real good looking swords and not some kind of giant spatula with bright colors.
But I understand this is what people wants and it is present in every medieval fantasy game today.
I’m trying to organize a formal protest. Join me fellow Charr! Let’s get ANet’s attention!
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1itftp/charr_no_armor_protest/
That’s an amazing idea. Let’s hope it’s seconded.
If you are a thief, then I have some advices for you: First of all #5 skill of SB is your friend. You can move between mobs easily with this, and also you have caltrops to cripple mobs and make them slower. Finally, when you get to the SP, use Shadowrefuge and claim the Skill point without any risk. I’ve done this with all skill points, Orr included and you don’t need anyone, but is better with friends, as you can hide everyone and make them all take the skill point.
I had the same issue last week…and then I checked and I realize that I was missing a whole map. So my advice is the same than the others: open the map, take notes ,and check what is missing.
I agree with you, it is a very nice place. I’m thinking on setting up there, as it has almost everything you need (crafting, bank, market, lots of vendors…). And the unique weaponset is very nice on the looks.
+1 for the mace, it suits Thief very well and we need more variety of weapons to use. Also mace is not veru used, so it’s a win win for thiefs and for the weapon usage itself.
The skills listed here are a little OP, but this is just an idea. I’d think the skillset around CC and stuns, using the mace more like a club ora small batton something you use to incapacitate oponents and then killing them.
I don’t have much experience in WvW yet, but in my short life as a thief I can say that SB is very useful for zerging, or at least just for the beginning of the fight.
I’m a thief so I know which cards I can play: I’m squishy, I wear medium armor, so I can’t rush into battle on the front line. Instead I’m always on the middle/back of the zerg using SB, creating poison fields, using cluster bombs and rezzing people if needed. When the zerg begin to scatter, It’s my time to shine. I flank the enemy forces, looking for people out of the group or just unaware of the danger, and I try to burst them. I think that is my role and I don’t want to fulfill another one because I know which class I chose.
Everything Darmikau has said is true, so I can’t add anything to this topic that hasn’t been said. It is an absolute shame that I have to pick the looks of my thief just looking which pieces are not bugged for char instead of focusing on how cool he looks. I spend a lot of time in the wardrobe doing combinations and when I get a cool one, I see the back of my charr and…tail clipping. I’m not saying anythin about helmets just because I never wear one because 99% of them are a joke for chars: No horns, no correct stretching around the Charr’s head…Have you seen how masks fit in a Charr head? Awful.
Don’t know if we can do something from our side, but as a paying customer and a fan of this game, the only thing we can do here is insist on this topic, or stop playing, so, for the moment, I’m doing the first.
Nice question, I would also like some answers as I’m new to D/P. I’m running full berserker with 10 30 30 0 0 and it’s fun to play, but I feel a little squishy. I still have to learn how to play that set good enough, but as Cempa said, there are a ton of builds on this forum and they are very different from each other, so in the end I’m a little lost.
Try to complete Rata Sum, but not with this bug. Please fix it :/
It is very sad to go to the Pvp dresser and just go for the armors that work with the tail…there are some of them really cool that we can’t use simply because of that. It could be great if at least anyone from the team writes something here.
I’m not really sure if this is a bug, but I find it very annoying.
Lately, while doing some quests in Orr, some enemies have inflicted cripple on my pj, but the cripple can’t be worn out. The crippled status is shown, but there is no white bar around it telling me how long it will last. And it stays there until I die, because there is nothing I can do to remove it. Also, I can’t change my skills because the system thinks I’m in combat because of the cripple. However, I can teleport normally.
I don’t know if it is some horrible thing that happens just in Orr or if it’s a bug, because it only happens to me there, but I’m questing there since last patch.
Can you please help me? Thanks a lot. I’ve attached a screenshot of my pj with the “perma- cripple” status during story mode.
8/10. Set looks great, but it looks like a char cosplaying R2D2, don’t know if that’s intended.
Here’s my thief, Byornen. Nothing too complex or hard to find, I just wanted to look ok while I run through Tyria murdering things:
