GS is the way to play a PS banner mightbot with extremely poor output.
That is a 100% support role.
Axe is the best power weapon by far for general PvE usage.
You want similar playstyle to power warrior and guardian or you want something completely different?
Ranger i’d recommend then.
For different i’d go engineer or elementalist.
Boost Guardian.
Ps: as a warrior you should try ofc berserk items
What? No. Do not waste your money on that garbage. This isn’t 2012-14.
If you plan on getting stuff, at least get the right ones. Vipers.
Warrior could be the right choice for your first soldier profession, I suggest you to get first Ascended Accessory, wich can be useful for every character, with berserker stats, then get weapons and in the end your 6 pieces of armor. Greatsword is good starter weapon
What? No. Don’t start wrong. Greatsword is an OK weapon for PvP. For PvE it’s a well below average even for a power build. Axe is the good one, if you go power route.
Sword+Torch / Longbow are the good ones for Condition build. Mace maybe for PvP.
EDIT: Here’s a link which imo is more useful than Metabattle. https://qtfy.eu/guildwars/benchmarks-august-balance-patch/

It all depends on what you want to do.
If you do not care for high-end fractals and raids, anything works on general pve.
If you care about raids and high-end fractals I recommend going condition route on warrior not power. Do some research on the builds. Power warrior is very weak compared to condition, but that lack of output only shows where monsters have huge amounts of health and your damage over time effects have the time they need to start rolling.
If you care about farming fractals for money know that people use condition phalanx strength berserker, tempest x3 (highest damage dealer in the game atm) and 1 chronomancer.
It will be a bit hard to find a spot in a PUG with a class outside of those 3 for fractal farm.
I recommend doing little bit of HOT story at start and get glider ASAP. will help you whatever you try to do afterwards, even in vanilla world zones.
If you are into WvW i can’t help you – dont like that stuff never done it, never will.
If you wanna do sPvP i wouldnt recommend stressing what class to play about it since you can always make a level 1 character and join with it, without having it as a ‘main’.
Good luck.
ever heard of a warrior monk? Masters of martial arts, monks are not really healers in reality
Daredevil you mean :P?
More like Iron Fist than Daredevil.
The fact that people can’t see how powerful Spellbreaker really is makes me giggle. I can’t wait to go into PvP and WvW and just kitten stomp the hell out of plebs all day. Give it a week, warrior will be FotM and all your tunes will have changed.
100% sure holo will be first month FOTM
You’re right it will. Once people start realizing how easy their attacks are to read though, they’ll fall in popularity I’m sure. Don’t get me wrong though, I LOVE Holosmith as well as Spellbreaker.
Are you implying Holosmith is easier to read than warrior? Because I really doubt that.
I do not want to comment on most stuff, mostly because I am in no mood for an essay (I agree mostly but not 100%).
What I wanna note is HELL YEAH dungeons deserve to have more meaningful rewards.
By that I mean like double the amount of gold to make it worth your while to do them.
1:00 am test in my country… on a weekday. Yes very stress test.
I demand 2nd round at better times during this weekend!
This time with access to golem at Special forces training area. So we can test numbers and give some proper feedback instead of:
This doesnt look pretty! / This is too pretty! / This FEELS off
This is crucial to whether I’m buying PoF or not.
(edited by Blackwaltz.7156)
The area scrolls to teleport to a LWS3 region remedy your problem.
Achievements are account-wide..
So why bother doing it a 2nd time?
What sort of progress are you talking about? Just clearing it on the story sheet?
Am I the only one that believes a giant axe or greatsword SHOULD do more damage than a pigsticker?
yes, as you can do more lifely harm quicker with that so called “pigsticker” than a huge hunk of metal people can hardly swing
A giant axe or a greatsword SHOULD do more damage than a pigsticker.
Someone wielding a dagger should be more agile in fight.
Now look at greatsword and dagger mobility and compare.
No sense.
It looks good alternative to us poor people that don’t have access to legendaries and infusions.
Keep the aura. Make it bigger and more dense too.
Well, sure, everything works on pve outside high level fractals and raids.
Thing is, people want to play something to help them become masters at their class, not remain scrubs.
I am trying SB too on the Stresstest, but kitten it feels like a sidegrade to berserker axe/axe at the very best.
How so many people miss that Spellbreaker doesn’t have to be better than Berserker is beyond me – it has to completely outshine Power Berserker to be considered. Power PvE build is literally 66% the effectiveness of Condi or worse.
Exactly, berserker is a condi focused spec.
How can spellbreaker, a power focused spec, which hardly even competes with power berserker, be on par in ANY way with the condi berserker? let alone perform better than it.
I think one of the worst offenders for dual wielding daggers is the fact that Dual Wielding arms trait is useless while under other attack speed buff effects like Quickness, which aren’t that hard to have access to.
Also, the low base damage of dagger auto. Even if it did an extra effect like bleed/something on critical, or even did a special critical with 50% extra crit damage instead of just 15% it would still be average for PvE usage, given the powercreep other professions get.
Anet hates the warrior class and the players that play them, no ifs or buts.
Seriously, warriors are crying? Vanilla warrior is still extremly strong in pvp/wvw. and both elite specs are strong. Warrior is the loving child of Anet, they just had to nerf it due to its massive usage.
You should play warrior a little more or learn to play your own class before saying warrior is strong.
Warrior is most predictable and easy to fight class in the game.
And for pve it’s most limited class. It’s either Condi or GTFO. Power is totally shafted and unless buffed by A LOT it wont be used in POF.
Dagger auto base damage is very low, maybe the lowest out of all weapons.
It’s fast and has more crit damage, but I cannot see it doing more than Axe auto damage.
From what I saw in the traits there’s absolutely no reason to pick SB for any sort of PVE stuff, solo or group.
Heck, you might be nerfing yourself by picking it in most cases.
As most cheapest elite specialization (its true)
No its not. Spellbreaker is extremly strong and viable, and will be used alot.
the cheapest elite spec is Renegade. Warrior will always be one of Anets loving childs. Stop crying.
No. You’re wrong.
Spellbreaker compared to Holosmith and Soulbeast looks like an afternoons work compared to a weeks for those other two mentioned.
Reharshed animations on new weapon, no new bursts, new skills and most traits very poorly thought out.
And most of all, incredibly low output on dagger mainhand.
Am I wrong? Compare Axe mainhand to dagger and see what I mean, or even Sword mainhand when condi. Dagger is very bland and weak in output. From what I saw that weekend, power warrior will still be bottom tier.
Even if you go Str/Arms/SB tree, to do any reasonable damage, you lose the PS utility which is the prime reason to take warrior in pve content.
Yo!
Was in same boat about a month ago when I came back.
Was full berserk geared warrior 100% ascended.
Thing is, it’s not a great performer in terms of dps – but that is if you play the regular style.
What I noticed is, I went axe/axe and ditched tactics, str/disc/zerker with axe mastery.
Sitting at 250% crit dmg with extra ferocity from axe mastery. The damage is insane.
Maguma jungle veterans are dying in like 5seconds solo ofc.
Things die so fast, that with a condi build you’d actually be underperforming in open world and non-highendtier fractals and dungeons.
By the time the condis start ticking for damage, the monsters would be dead.
Condi warrior is GREAT dps, if your target lives long enough. So unless you doing very high fractals and raids, i’d not bother with it. Heck even if you do bother with it, it aint hard to shift the ascended items stats you have to viper and be what you can be.
What I noticed as a major issue to power dps warrior is the greatsword.
The autos are weak. only 100b and 3 does any dmg and they are stationary/able to miss easily. With axe/axe you’re a machine. The autos hit like a kitten truck.
Ok here’s the details:
Proffession: Warrior
Specialization: Destroyer
Special Weapon: Greataxe
Trait ideas:
-Double the amount of targets hit by your attacks.
-Your burst skills have an additional effect (makes older weapon relevant)
examples:
Sword: can be cast while moving
Axe: unblockable
Mace: When stun ends, immobilizes for 2sec
Hammer: Increased area of effect, increased stun duration.
Greatsword: Cripples enemies hit.
-Your burst skills cause Weakness on your target for a duration appropriate to
adrenaline spent
-You can unleash up to 5 bars of adrenaline energy skill per burst.
-Your attacks against vulnerable enemies grant you might
-Your attacks against weakened enemies grant you fury
-You gain a % of Power as Toughness and a % of Ferocity as Vitality
-Burst skills while at max adrenaline cause enemies to become extremely vulnerable (10stacks)
-You gain a % of Condition damage as Vitality and % of Precision as Toughness
-Destroyer may have a trait for increased adrenaline generation.
-When you cause bleeding on your enemy you also gain “Punisher’s Insight” granting you a stacking (up to 5 times) buff, which gives you 60 condition damage and 60 power.
Greataxe abilities:
1. [Great Swipe]Swing in area in front of you. 300 range
[Grand Swipe] Swing in area in front of you. Gain Might for each enemy hit 300range
[Swiperino] Swing in 360 area crippling enemies and causing torment and cripple.420
range
2.[Shattering Blow]Slam ground in front of you, shattering the ground in a line 600range
Enemies caught in the line are immobilized for 1second and become confused
3.[Destroyer’s Dive] Leap to target area, breaking the ground and causing bleed to
enemies in that area. Deals more damage and inflicts more bleeding to enemies
affected by torment or confusion. Costs Adrenaline. Can generate more adrenaline
depending on impact. Range 400
(This ability costs adrenaline even though it’s not a burst skill. ~0.60 of a bar. This ability can potentially generate more adrenaline than what it costs depending on damage caused and number of targets hit)
4.[Divided and Conquered] Grab your target (range 130), and toss him 2000 units further in front of you.
Initial (grab) duration 1sec.
Aerial launch duration: 3-4seconds.
Grab part inflicts confusion and the launch part inflicts torment.
Terrain can potentially reduce the range.
If target survives the fall, you can within 4 seconds after the fall (target reaching ground) recast the ability to dive on him, causing additional torment and dealing critical damage.
5.[Blender] You spin, draining a low amount of adrenaline per second while spinning.
300 range.
F1: [Total Destruction]: Channel your inner rage towards your goal. Complete and utter annihilation. 2seconds cast.
Stage 1: Area range 900
Stage 3: Area range 1200
Stage 5: Area range 1500
The area around you starts to follow you, bending to your will, seeking to destroy your enemies. Spikes erupt from the ground striking all enemies in the vicinity, dealing damage to them and causing bleed and torment.
(edited by Blackwaltz.7156)
If they ever put Greataxe in the game, it should be for the elite specialization called DESTROYER which should unleash 5bar bursts for EXTREME DESTRUCTION.
I sorta feel if they make all the “remove a boon” effects into convert them into conditions SB will still have some issues, regardless of how OP it seems.
I know when playing Holo, I’m doing WAY WAY more damage than base engi could ever hope to achieve and I’m not giving up anything to get it. I can run through my regular weapon + skill burst, then activate PF and do THAT burst too. It’s just straight power creep.
Meanwhile core warrior deals about the same damage as Spellbreaker, if not more.
Spellbreaker
I love spellbreaker, but dagger is not balanced. A dagger warrior is basically like a mobile hundred blades with an interrupt. Lowering the damage is a must do because it feels like it can out damage a zerker…This legit made me laugh. Dagger has less mobility than GS, less evade, and less damage.
If anything dagger needs a pretty massive damage buff to 1, 2, 3, and 5. As well as a range increase and evade frames on 2.
same here. was a good laugh indeed.
Especially the “walking 100 blades part”.
I’m extremely disappointed. Most elites gets new Fkeys F1-2-3-4, while warriors stays at 2. Also, most elites has skills within skills, like the Firebrand tomes, soulbeast every pets give different Fkeys, holosmith, deadeye sniping mode, etc.
I understand warrior was always an easy class to get into, but this is getting ridiculous. I predict that the spell breaker will do ok at first in pvp. Once people masters their elites, spell breaker will end up in the bottom of the barrel real quick. I also can’t see this elite being meta in pve.
Now now don’t be too greedy. We got 2 weapons instead of just 1. They could have given us Dagger Mainhand and call it a day, but instead they give us Dagger Offhand too.
Sure Spellbreaker has faults, but I do not think the “lack of new skills” is one.
One can be forgiven to think that way though. Skills 1-4 for dual daggers may seem uninteresting and 2 being so similar to f1..
I don’t think the amount of skills is the problem but their function.
If we wanted a daze we can use mace. If we wanted mobility use sword for leap.
Instead they give us that, which is a mix of both and worse at both aspects.
Skill 5 is great though idd. Both in looks and effect. I’d love to see a bigger channeling duration on it.
(edited by Blackwaltz.7156)
What i’d like to note is how many say Deadeye is not great pvp spec compared to Daredevil, due to prone and whatnot, but even if it’s damage is overtuned, try fighting a deadeye on spellbreaker, you will NEVER catch it even with bull’s charge and the new superspeed thing.
Even if you are able to avoid his damage with shield and dagger OH 5 skill, and survive his damage, you will be unable to stay on target for more than half a second maybe if he makes a mistake.
My point being, a comparetively mediocre pvp spec of thief – if you exclude the damage – still can not even be touched by a -pvp centric- spec like spellbreaker.
For PVP, Spellbreaker, this scene we have this weekend – it reminds me HOT pre-release where berserker was the “meh” elite, while dragonhunters were kittening kitten up with those true shots. It bodes ill.
With daggers being only usable while spellbreaker elite selected, that means only level 1 burst is available with said weapon.
The weapon itself suffers from low damage output in the mainhand slot, which is the defining slot for the burst skill.
As a mainhand, the dagger offers a short range leap with slow, and a daze (stun if interrupt), alongside with an amazing auto that gives might (awesome for PS).
While the utility of the auto is great, and helps as the elite is power fucused, the power warrior will fall behind on damage compared to our condition overlords.
The dagger burst, like the 2nd skill offers another leap and some damage, the damage itself is pretty bad, given it’s a lvl 1 burst, and it’s mobility/boon removal are only reasons to use it. Heck, one would even say it might be even better to auto instead to generate might.
In PVE, monsters (outside of Crystal Desert I speak of) rarely use boons, that means the chance to actually have the boon removal as an important part of the class is pretty limited.
With that in mind, I suggest the following change to the dagger burst in order to make it more desirable to use and well, give the dagger mainhand’s somewhat lackluster damage somewhat of a bump to help with output.
-If no boons are removed have an extra effect:
Here you can either have it do double or even triple damage, or you can have it be guarantee critical hit, or make it give you a buff that increases all dmg output by a % for some seconds, if you want to make it less bursty (huh burst skill).
Thanks for reading.
Note: I do realize doing double /triple damage in PVP can have negative effects on balance or whatever but they can have different effect in PVP instances so what I am suggesting is only for PVE purposes.
I very much want to see you fighting an actual player on a deadeye and not being outkited by it with your dagger/dagger.
try holosmith.. for real.. having a blast with it :-P feels like a warrior 2.0 with all burst skills on your bar.
Thing is, I already invested quite a bit on my warrior and I feel the archetype suited me more. Ofc I will try all the elites tomorrow, but I felt like warrior was my main spec.
I cannot stress enough how bad the elite plays.
But since people might start saying what would you change here’s a couple of recommendations:
—Daggers
1. Buff AA damage by 100%. -marauder amulet and im having like 1.5k crit autos for real?-
2. Buff 2nd skill cast time. It’s too slow in pvp. Heartseeker from rogue feels so much faster. It’s damage is low too, the slow duration is VERY slow when it rarely lands.
3. Buff 5th skill duration and damage.
4. Have 4th skill to do it’s 100% bonus damage all the time AND have 20% crit chance increased.
5. Have 3rd skill always land it’s stun component.
6. Dagger Burst is laughable. It’s like 2 with little bit more range. Damage low, Slow cast (animation), Effect boring and bland (remove 2 boons wow) – how about deal x300% dmg if no boons are removed and match swords’ 2nd skill range? Too much? maybe it’s an elite – should it compare to core weapons? Idk I just did a brief comparison to warrior rifle and deadeye rifle in my brain and I think it shouldn’t.
—Elite Spec
1.Many talents give flat bonuses. Make them more synergistic with other trees instead of flat bonuses.
2. If you keep flat bonuses buff them a lot. damage is going to be VERY low in pve.
3. The elite skill itself feels weak. It should do more than just boon strip. Not damage, how about making enemies standing in it be crippled or slowed.
Yes.
Damage, Mobility, Sustain all are extremely lacking on spellbreaker.
Ok.
Here’s the preliminary feedback for evening 1 of the demo weekend.
Spellbreaker is bland, boring, low mobility, low sustain and low damage spec.
All it can really do is remove boons, but that doesn’t stop the train of damage comming your way.
I am terribly disappointed. Especially when I looked to other specs like Deadeye.
Thank you ArenaNet for allowing us to have this demo weekend that way we can know weather to buy the expansion or not. And it’s the later for me.
300 and 450 leaps are very short distances.
The good part is that they have combo leap finisher, not the actual range.
Im gonna go dagger/dagger for the 4-3 synergy – but for regular use, I am very uncertain as of now. Lots of tests and experimenting have to happen to have a solid view.
What is noteworthy and actually pretty sweet, is that we dont just get “a dagger” we get both main and offhand versions of it. It’s like 2 weapons!
Forget warrior as “warrior”.
The warrior you think wields a greatsword and it’s the Core Warrior (the non-expansion version).
The warrior version with the new elite will be a Spellbreaker aka a anti-mage sort of thing. So dual daggers is fitting to that theme.
Now weather that theme is fitting to warrior it’s another story. I can’t say I believe they are a perfect fit, but they aren’t that bad of an idea if you plan to give warriors a chance to wield daggers.
Nobody will force you to play daggers even with the new elite though. You can, but there’s a big chance their damage will be bad for PvE, heck, there’s a chance the whole spec might be average or bellow average for PvE.
Berserker is a condition elite specialization. You can gear towards it and there is point to that.
(Power Berserker exists and it’s performance is maybe worse than power core warrior)
PoF introduces Spellbreaker which is a power focused elite, so you can prepare by focusing on it, or go the Berserker route.
The “new gear” thing, it’s not like the new gear will have more stats.
New gear might have different combinations of stats.
Ugh condi this condi that. Sick of having to be condi on every kitten class almost. The only ascended set I have is heavy power and it’s useless on warrior and rev, 2/3 of the classes that can wear it. I can’t afford to craft another set or convert sets all the time. Even if I could, I don’t want to. I’m a warrior, I want to swing my greatsword and do respectable damage, instead I have to apply DoTs like every other freaking class. So frustrating.
You man…
You just described exactly where I stand too.
1 ascended heavy power full set.
No intention of playing condition.
Spellbreaker is power-focused though so that’s good for the future
What sucks though it’s that it just might not be viable enough for dps in PvE.
The dps might actually be lower than core warrior or even power zerker.
Greetings.
Preliminary search results show that Spellbreaker will be a power/crit focused (Berserker) specialization. Attacker’s Insight, Meditation utilities lacking conditions whatsoever -except taunt-, Sun and Moon trait crit->heal.
Thank you ArenaNet for not making another condition focused Specialization for Warrior like Berserker. I was really bothered during whole HOT about it. I want to be able to have an elite that focuses on Conditions, but as an option – not being forced to it.
I gave up on HOT twice, with a bitter taste in my mouth both times, due to my favourite class being close to useless punchbag compared to it’s condi variant, while guardians thrived in their power dragonhunter awesomeness. All that was left was a torch lighting the path to uninstall.
Thank you for giving players options to play the way they want.
What I want to ask though is you adjust pve/pvp performance accordingly and not have this elite specialization left behind compared to the top dog elementalist and his thieving lackeys.
I cannot see why a offensively (critical) focused spec should be any less worthy in a group as the primary damage dealer.
Cannot wait to try it out this weekend. Will post further feedback once test is done.
For HOT content I recommend a standard condition build. If partying and having teammates around you most of time go the Phalanx Strength condition instead. (Swap depending on group play or not).
Why I recommend Condi and not Power? Because Bow is very strong and does inflict conditions very nicely. Also having 1 ranged weapon on your person all the time in open pve environment is pretty standard.
Power works as well, did for me at least more than one time on multiple warriors.
But from sheer outut perspective, as it stands condi is superior, and this shows on higher health monsters, which frequent HoT maps.
Do not go berserker until you have most traits. Otherwise you 100% underpower yourself.
Even at full traits some consider it being more of a sidegrade to core warrior (ESPECIALLY if you go power route).
For different builds and how /what to use I recommend use the site https://qtfy.eu/guildwars/warrior
EDIT: Also you might also want to wait for POF to come out and check Spellbreaker builds (Next weekend DEMO might clarify few things) – so before you invest into condi/power have a clearer view of what you will play.
(edited by Blackwaltz.7156)
Hello.
I have spent about 1k hours playing warrior in this game so far.
Most of my experience comes from pre-hot game but I want to share my thoughts on warrior and berserker elite spec.
First, the elite spec itself. It is good, in numbers, and in visuals, but there’s no interaction with it. Pressing berserk button it feels like nothing changes. Sure you attack faster, you do more dmg and stuff, but gameplay doesnt change at all.
Dragonhunter’s for example have different virtues / justice whatever it’s called. The class changes a bit in functionallity with the spec, not just the numbers.
Second, the weapon. Torch. It was one of the main reasons I gave up on the game when the expansion came out. Thats how much I dislike it. That and story gating behind masteries which were a bit of a pain in the kitten to get at start – but that’s irrelevant.
Torch may be a well designed offhand, but it is worthless for a power build.
Weapon Effectiveness. I like the wide variety of our kitten nal (filtered? for real?), but we have weapons that are just bad both for condi and for power builds. Hammer feels luckluster even for pvp, sword dmg being weak would be an understatement. Axe in offhand or mainhand just doesn’t have enough juice and/or doesn’t supply the buffs the greatsword does.
About PvP, I feel like rifle is my only viable weapon atm combined with signet of might. With all those dragonhunters and their unending blocks, it feels like it’s a requirement.
I do not know if it’s just me but I had trouble sticking on target even with headbutt! I had easier time with signet elite skill in past. Nowadays I can’t land 2 hits on 100blades without everyone just removing stun and gtfo.
The warrior overall gameplay is solid, but it could use some depth. I wouldn’t mind if the next elite specilization that comes out is a lot more complex and adds multiple facets to the class as a whole. As it stands, it gets boring a bit fast, at least it did for me in HoT.
In addition I’d like to give a couple suggestions that would make gameplay better, either in form of traits, or otherwise:
-100blades on the move for 10% less dmg if you move or at 80% of movementspeed.
-200blades (yes)
-rifle 4 doesn’t knock you back, instead knocks target back.
-axe 2 swap with axe 5, make axe 5 to throw axe on chain and pull target.
-hammer 3 remove cooldown, make it do much lower dmg, easy tagging!
-hammer 2/4/5 less cast time
-Would love to be able to use bow on power builds as well, not for it’s burning but for it’s dmg compontent, give it a rifle 3 move maybe? (ranger lb 2 style?) wouldn’t mind if it was the burst skill or had access to it via trait.
-Sword offhand is just miserable. Remaking it as a whole, and a valid option for Power wouldn’t be bad idea. Warrior and sword would go hand-in-hand not be the least used weapon.
-banners feel bland and boring to use. Sure, they are effective, but they are the least interesting abilities to use. Maybe make them auras to the warrior so everyone around the warrior has the buff? like a shout every 5seconds for 30seconds (adjust cd accrordingly), and every time you shout you make a blast finisher? That’d be fun to hear.
-physical skills are unattractive to pick, signets and stances always seem a superior option. Maybe buff across the board? Even a bullcharge that did double dmg, People still wouldn’t pick over precision signet for example, or even power signet.
Looking forward to your replies,
Thnx for reading.

Heart of Thorns Killed My Interest in GW2
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Blackwaltz.7156
Same issue.
I pre-bought the expansion. I played it a week. I saw the gated story ouside dungeons, had some rage in verdant brink. I quit.
Returned two weeks ago, it feels better now.
Try the Hammer on Warrior if you have one.
I will start of with what I like about the warrior in BWE3
-Arc Divider. It’s great you guys changed it.
-Viable condition builds.
-Burst skills are mostly awesome.
But that sums up the good stuff.
Here’s what I think needs work.
-Condition builds being MORE viable than power builds in pvp as it stands.
-sPvP Power warrior damage is laughable if they take Berserker instead of Strength.
(Defense and Discipline being mandatory for survival in the wild mists)
-Hammer burst skill is weak, unfitting of a berserker.
-Warrior survivability without Endure pain is a joke.
-Traits are very straightforward, and while you have admitted that is the intent, not to
make Berserker super complex, this is bad.
Why? Because more complex professions allow for higher performances.
This is the chance to fix this. Before expansion comes out.
-Warrior and Berserker utilities are either mandatory (stances/signets) or completely
bad. Sundering Leap, is a prime example. Similarly Wild Blow could be the worst utility
skill in the game right now, even worse than racial ones.
-Outside Berserker Gear meta, I believe warrior is going to be at a bad place.
If people are forced into longer fights due to requirement for defensive gear, many
fights that tend to be melee unfriendly, will be even unfriendlier due to their increased
duration, and thus warrior will have less time to smack stuff and more time to run
away to lick wounds.
In conclusion, I believe warriors are being forced into a ranged/condi meta, which I do not like and do not play warrior to be a second rate archer or elementalist.
Arc Divide, the new greatsword primal burst skill:
Instead of 360, and having increased range from it’s Arcing Sear version:
Shatter the earth in a line in front of the warrior, dazing enemies hit.
Do same damage (a little more execute dmg), Bladetrail range.
Solo PvE:
Use Greatsword and Sword/Warhorn when you have travelling ahead.
Covers most distance. Helps exploring a lot (you want fast travelling when fresh 80 to explore stuff and reach critical waypoints for worldbosses, instances, whatever)
Alternatively, for solo PvE killing stuff, doing Living World s2, and hearts, and w/e what involves combat. I prefer Greatsword/Longbow. Having a good ranged weapon ready for pulling, and kiting (if monster is stronger), is godsent.
Traits are: Strength (Mostly for Berserker’s Strength), Discipline (Mostly for fast hands and the Quickness from last traitline), Arms (more damage with higher crit chance/signet mastery)
For Group PvE:
If dungeon
if involves ranged: (Have a longbow)
if involves only melee: (Have Axe/Mace) – Apply vuln with mace 4 and axe 2 then swap
to gs and 2 the kitten out of everything
if else: (Have Hammer) I enjoy the versatility of a Hammer. The CC it brings, the dmg is
decent, and a very useful blast finisher burst
Traits: Strength, Arms, Tactics (Phalanx Strength is great for Group content)
if world bosses
for world bosses i love having longbow and being ranged there, it is not as annoying as
being melee. greatsword is not bad 2nd weapon.
Maximizing dps here is not -that- important so i swap arms with discipline
Traits: Strength, Discipline, Tactics.
if fractals (Depends on instance)
if sw cf (have sword/warhorn+longbow)
Generally, I feel Greatsword is Warrior’s best friend, and I am glad it is.
Best thing is: get every weapon warrior can use.
While I love warriors, and do believe their damage, offensive support, and mobility are awesome, nerfing them would make the class very bad, it relies on those things heavily.
Warrior have close to 0 defensive support and there’s guardian, engineer and elementalist for that.
I would hate to see the only class I enjoy playing getting destroyed, because you believe it is OP, on PVE, when there are other classes with reflect mechanisms that can perform equally well (if not better)…
For PvP warrior is the most average class and all depends on skill.
I have seen good warriors destroy stuff, and bad ones lose terribly.
As for pvp changes I’d recommend the class goes away a bit from Passive Defenses, like the Auto-Endure pain, and make non-stances and signets viable to pvp with.
Same applies to mesmers, those guys have insane auto-defenses too.
I am quite happy with the warrior’s state in PvP, and PvE.
Nowhere blatantly OP and nowhere near bad.
Hello.
If I had two more things on warrior those would be:
Easier access to Fast Hand trait.
Arc Divide (Warrior Berserker GS Burst Skill) to not have increased range, and not be a 360, but do it’s thing in a line in front of the warrior, that shatters the ground also dazing enemies for 2 seconds, for about the range of blade trail.
Man that’d be awesome.
