Is it good for the game if everything is purchasable from the BLTC (gem shop or tp)? Lots of players feel their accomplishments are devalued if money can be used to skip participation, dedication, and (occasionally) skill.

You don’t think it required the same qualities (participation, dedication, and (occasionally) skill) to amass thousands of gold?

Do I? Doesn’t matter. What matters is how it affects the community and lots of people complained from launch day that legendaries could be traded on the TP.

I’d personally prefer a system in which 80-90% of shinies were tradeable (if only indirectly through their components) and 10-20% exclusive to specific content and skill-based achievements (e.g. PvP tourney winners, top ranked WvWers, Liadri-killers, raids, fractals, and even adventures).

Fortunately, ANet doesn’t make design decisions based on the preferences of a small group of players. On the whole, the “trade everything” crowd finds it easier to live with account binding versus the “trade nothing” contingent, who finds it less enjoyable that the manifestations of their accomplishments are available for a low, low price.

tl;dr it seems to be better for the game to account-bind newer legendaries

That must be the reason why HoT increased gw2 userbase tremendously. Oh wait…

If you are unwilling to pay for the legendary trinket, get the bloodstone ones.

Arenanet is giving you options. You are complaining about one of them even though you have a perfectly valid alternative which is beyond dirt cheap.

Whenever i read this statement, i wonder if there are other ppl who only care abt the aesthetic side of legendary. I honestly dont give a kitten abt stats swapping or that extra stats. The only reason I want a legendary is to make my char looks fabulous.

Back to topic, yea that thing is just too expensive. But then again, if we look most of HoT content, this is not really surprising

BlueBoy.1236

I came back to this game 3 weeks ago and have been playing intensively since then. I can safely say there are a lot less ppl playing since 5-8 months ago. Idk about other people, but myself and most of my friends just couldnt find any incentive to play. There arent many things to do left in the game. Wvw? good luck finding fun fights outside prime hours (weekend 6pm-9pm). Pvp is also dying quickly now ppl already got their backitem. Openworld pve? it’s like playing with robots. Map chat is so quiet and everyone seems to only care about loots. What’s left is the raid community, which makes up maybe less than 5% of the whole community.

The last 2 updates also didnt reward anything but AP. Before HoT, each update always reward players with something, even if the reward is just a lame accessories or backitem.

This is why wvws gone kitten. Ppl always claimed changes are needed, but look at what happened when they changed the upgrade system and lord rezzing.

Wvw has survived 3 years with nightcapping, and the only server who was really affected by this is SoR. Things were worse also because some cmdrs suddenly decided to quit altogether. I say, leave it as it is. You guys are playing pvp and what you care is those three numbers on top of your screen? You don’t even get any kitten reward for winning

That is a typical point of view from someone who hasn’t read through this thread, let alone other peoples’ povs. Nightcapping is a problem and has always been a problem in WvW, which is also one of the core reasons why bandwagoners exist and also why people avoid WvW when they see their servers losing.

In theory, PPT shouldn’t matter, that’s true. But to the vast majority it does and that fact cannot be dismissed no matter what you try to say.

What is this “vast majority” you are talking about? I’ve been here since the glorious TCvFAvDB, and have been in many servers who have terrible matchup against off-hour servers like DB and SoS, and honestly, I’ve never seen any drop in playerbase due to those matchups. The only trend I saw is that ppl just became less inclined in upgrading the keeps. You wanna knw what keeps ppl away from wvw? When your server is getting stomped everywhere during RESET night. That reason alone is enough to scare ppl for the whole week.

I would have expected this kind of complain from a person who thinks nightcapping is the cause of ppl bandwagon. YB, Kaineng, SBI, and HoD never had nightcapping army before ppl bandwagon there, but you probably never knw about that

Yes, there are many people that i know left gw2 few months after HoT release. Some of them used to be a very active WvW commander, and some are actually the founder of the very first few dungeon mentor guilds in gw2. They were the people who’re willing to spend countless hours teaching noobs like me on how to beat Lupi, and they didn’t even ask a single gold for compensation. It’s something I rarely see from today gw2 community. They were the people who could still entertain a full server with their stupid accent even tho our server was beaten every time.

Many wonderful people have left gw2, and honestly, this game feels so bland without them

BlueBoy.1236

Ppl are too spoiled in gw2. The current patch is what some ppl here been asking, yet you can still see the amt of complains popping out here and there.

Anyway, this is just my 2cents about nightcapping. The current upgrading system still feels too fast. One timezone coverage is enough to upgrade everything to t3, creating imbalanced matchup against some servers. If they extend the upgrading time to lets say 2-3days, the upgrading/flipping responsibility is more spread out across different timezones.

Night Capping pass the Popcorn

in WvW

Posted by: BlueBoy.1236

BlueBoy.1236

Again this isn’t a night capping issue its a scoring system that’s broken.

In the meantime I would go further. The scoring system would be ok, what’s wrong is the
missing adaptation of map-capacity to players

If 1000 player at primetime get maps with objectives worth 695 points than 10 player should get a map with objectives worth 10 points. Problem solved, scoring would work well. But as they get the same maps 1000 player get, each of them scores 100 times as much as an primetime player.

So if my server is losing the fight during the primetime, we can just log out of wvw and let them take that 10points tick. Take a rest, then relog during off time, flip everything, put a few ppl in each map, and have that 500points tick (since we only have few ppl in the map).

So kittening genius /s. You might as well tell ppl to quit wvw all together

How do you deal with troll guilds that claim a structure and do nothing? That was an issue prior to HoT.

Fix it to where a guild can take over a structure with the approval of say 3 other guilds permission. This needs to be done anyway. How many times have you wished that you could +5 your keep but can’t because its claimed and the guild that has it claimed has no one online. If a guild wants to take over a claimed structure they should be able to even if the current guild disagrees. Its just a matter of setting up a sort of map voting system to allow it or not, based on what the majority of players that vote want. Care needs to be taken in this implementation there are several ways that even this could be circumvented and cause problems but with proper implementation this issue is solvable. If it were me I would even go a step further and only allow guild members or approved non guild members to place siege in a structure. This helps with trolls that want to use up all of the supply or even noobs that are clueless about placing siege even tho their intentions are good. Guilds should also have the ability to disallow a certain player from taking supply from a structure they have claimed and this ability should also be included with any non members that have been given the permission to manage a guilds assets. Non guild members that have been give these permissions should retain this privilege and should be able to help with any structure this guild has claimed and the right to do this should be perpetual so it doesn’t have to be done every time a new structure is claimed. It would be easy in the guild window to setup a list of approved players that have the permission to help manage a guilds structures. Guilds also should be able to revoke this permission as they see fit.

I dont knw if i should take any of your comments seriously after reading this.

- Make charged quartz crystal then craft leyline infused tool. This should net you around 2g profit.

Scouts and yakslappers are relevant again. Towers and camps now become an asset rather than a target for k-train. So yea, it’s a wonderful change overall

The concept that stability needed to be fixed in WvW was wrong. For a time hammer trains were OP but Necros eventually became part of the larger meta to counter them. Given the new HoT changes to the meta, it is difficult to see exactly how the old stability would be OP. Reverting would certainly make for better fights IMO.

it still has issues with the lack of boon stripping skills. Unless we get more boon stripping skills and stab gets more priority in getting stripped, the unstoppable heavy frontline meta will be there. That was the reason ppl were shifting to immobilize skills (gs warr, hammer guard) rather than sticking to hammer train. CC was kinda irrelevant with the past stab system

Honestly if Anet reverted stability in WvW it would reduce the toxicity and lack of faith in these forums by 83%.

But it would bring the old problem back again. Whoever can maintain perma stab will get the upper hand aka the heavy frontline meta.

The only solution I can think of for this stab problem is separating skills between wvw, pvp and pve. Or making someone’s immune to cc for a few secs after casting stunbreaker

Me and most of my guild members just got bored of playing the same mode over and over and over and over again for almost 3 years. I honestly doubt bringing the old bl will attract players/vets to play wvw again.

I also partially blame gvg elitist and their “GTFO this is our raid/fight”. Rather than promoting wvw to the newcomers, elitist often scare away ppl with their smug behavior. It’s not rare to hear guilds saying the server is doomed if they leave the server, making more and more ppl less inclined to step into wvw.

For a moment, I miss the matchups before gvg exist. It was just pure madness and fun. TCvFAvDB matchups were some of the best moment I have in gw2

I still don’t understand where this idea of you’re being forced to rush come from. Yes, anet added a lot of end game items in this expansion, but none of them is locked under specific amt of time. All i can say is to take your time. Despite the frustration in forum, ppl are still doing events in non popular maps like vb, td, and dry top. I even managed to finish mawdrey a few days ago.

Also the grind in HoT is actually not worse than previous LS episode. The difference is just that in prev LS, you got one map to do in each episode. In HoT, you got 4 maps to farm at the same time. Population become more spread out, therefore finding populated map is more difficult than before.

The only complaint I have about HoT is how anet treated dungeons. While the gold nerf in short dungeons is justified, since it still gives you the most gold/gameplay hour. Long dungeons give very small reward right now, so small it’s better to waste your time in Wvw.

Philosophy Shift to Less Choice

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BlueBoy.1236

BlueBoy.1236

Honestly BlueBoy, before they changed up traits you could unlock ALL of your adept traits on ALL tracks for 10s. Now it’s 10s and 2SP (I think) per adept trait. A character has what, 30 adept traits.

10s Vs 3g and 60SP. Of course you don’t need to get them all but before you could experiment, now if you don’t have the means you need to choose carefully. Or scour the world to do the events that unlock them. And it’s too bad if the one you want is tied up at a high level event, guess you have to pay to get it “early”.

I agree that some of trait quests are stupid, but overall, the design is not bad. There’s no more gold barrier that prevents you from getting the traits. But like i said in my prev post, you were also given a compensation for this change. You can get skill pts from champ bags and more reliable gold from dungeons.

Philosophy Shift to Less Choice

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BlueBoy.1236

BlueBoy.1236

I honestly don’t understand where you get this idea of less choice. Have you ever tried to get 10 AP before the patch? You had to do ALL of the dailies. does having to do 10 out of 10 dailies mean more choice to you?

And how long have you followed gw2 living story? Many of the prev meta achievements required you to finish all of the achievements before you get the grand reward.

Trait? maybe, but anet still give you the easy/gold way to unlock it. The difference (excluding the new GM traits) is only 8g. Yes, you need an extra couple hundreds of skill point, but with the new champ bag system, skill point is not a problem anymore. That if you really care to unlock all of the traits (we knw most ppl here only use meta build).

Pls do research first before making another ignorant post

Uh, maybe you should do some research. The difference in trait cost is 360 skillpoints and 40g. And the rest isn’t even worth repeating myself over.

Ok, my mistake, it should have been 25g and a few hundred skillpoints. Still it’s not really a big problem. If anet didn’t give us a way to farm gold or skillpoints, then yes you have the right to complain. Didn’t they give us champ bags and new dungeon rewards to compensate those changes? also didn’t i say excluding the new traits? If anet released a manual that cost 15g for the new traits, would that satisfy you? You also forget that you now dont need to pay a dime when you wanna retrait.

After reading your other post, i finally understand what you mean. Just like most ppl who replied to your post, i also had problems understanding your point. I’m gonna quote one of the most important question from Vayne.8563:

“How do you keep adding more dailies, without falling into the trap of everyone doing the ones that absolutely take no work?”

And please.. 10 out of 10ach for meta has been there since season 1

Maybe you guys should answer OP’s question first before giving your opinion.

For d/d, ppl usually take at least 6pts in critical strike, because hidden killer synergize really well with CloakNDagger (dagger5 skill) and backstab combo.

For p/p, ppl usually take at least 4pts in trickery for ricochet trait. The rest of the traits are usually something that could improve initiative regen.

Pls bear in mind, both of those builds are focused around pve content, where you want to max dps as possible. In pvp, ppl tend to spend their traits more on shadow arts and trickery. Survivability is more important in pvp than dishing more dmg.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: BlueBoy.1236

BlueBoy.1236

If this is really your first char, i suggest you to do the quest instead buying it. Most of them will require a bit of exploration, and opening the map, which i think something every new player should do. Exploring tyria is one of the best way to enjoy the game, and actually a small progress towards your legendary wpn (if you ever plan to make it)

You don’t need to unlock all of them at once. Just pick one or two traits that you think are useful. Once you reach lvl 80, unlocking the rest of the traits is quite easy, cos you’ll be making a lot of gold from dungeons and events.

Also if i can be honest, as a player who already has 3k++ hours gameplay, i myself only use 20ish traits from the 65 available traits in each class. So you really don’t need to worry abt unlocking all of them quickly. Ofc it’s nice to have all of them, but in reality, you usually stick with only one to three builds.
