Message from fracs in chat box.
Hey,
Are fractals bugged? Seems any time I try to enter there is an error, few people complaining about it in map chat too…that instances can’t be created.
Can’t get into WvW either….
(edited by Blush Lift.3570)
Did this at level 51, was pretty easy the adds felt as if they had less HP.
One comment is there now worries me that HoT isn’t for me:
battling to level 100 in fractals
I hope that doesn’t imply fractals are the ONLY way to reach 100 because I never have done fractals and never will. :|
I bought HoT but didn’t want to spoil myself so haven’t actually logged in.
I think you may have misunderstood. Fractal reward level will increase from 50 to 100. Personal level or experience level will stay at 80 with additional ‘beyond/progression’ levels via masteries.
I started the game in Oct 2012, took me roughly two weeks to level to 80 just by going from map to map roughly a few hours a day. I was taking my time and ensured I did every event I came across etc.
I found out you can salvage Ectos last month, and I played since beta. I knew ectos were a result of salvaging but I never tried to salvage a salvaged item?
This was added to the game in June 2013 to maintain the value of ecto but also lower the growing cost of Crystalline Dust.
I once re-forged ‘The Lover’ as it had the same skins as a rare orrian shortbow.
Do people use the skill/weapon rotation as detailed on the metabattle page ? Just feels a bit robotic and not sure I would get much enjoyment doing it? Although I know some people just want to get the job done.
I like to mix it up where sometimes I like to go with dps in dungeons but sometimes I like to play support role. Just wondering what your thoughts are?
Thanks again!
Some do some don’t. It can be really hard to learn some of the rotations and when your fighting stuff can either die too quickly to do a full rotation or takes so long that stuff is on cooldown. Those builds are aimed at people who plan to run the full meta party.
There is nothing wrong with running support builds, just don’t join any ‘meta’ parties. Or people who are specifically asking for a certain build such as PS wars or staff ele as they are more than likely expecting them to be full dps meta builds.
The great thing about this game is there are plenty of builds so you will have plenty to mess around with. There will always be a meta and that is what kills stuff most efficiently but if your not worried about taking a little extra time to enjoy the game the way you wish then your not losing out.
There are also plenty of classes who you can do decent DPS on as well as support your party such as ele or guard.
Check out DnT on youtube for PvE builds with detailed explanations. Although up to date optimal builds you may find something that you like and change a few things such as armor to suit your play style.
Congrats on your drop. My last key drop was at the start of 2015 from a trash mob during teq.
At least with the new boosters it isn’t as bad as it was.
Although I’ve had plenty of chests since the update.
I’d personally take the following day off or even a few days later and combine it with my other two days off for that week. (Or one day if your a shift worker)
The same day with how downloads have been recently it will take a while to get in and you’ll have to deal with server crashes and fixes for the first few hours in which you would prob just waste your time off.
I’ve sent a mail applying to the EU guild.
For anyone else wondering the reddit post is below:

Still possible to do if your on one of the early maps during prime time. Turn up five minutes before spawn should do it, unfortunately there is really no incentive for people to bother to move so they usually all just stack.
You can salvage the cloth items but sell the rest. Salvaging on both a level 80 and level 50 ish breaks even, the ecto makes up for the loss from silk over linen on a level 80.
Whereas selling the ore wood salvage equipment will net you a bigger profit over salvaging. However selling everything on the TP will take some time if you have a large quantity of bags.
Rarely farmed keys before but now since update I will possibly add in a weekly rotation.
Kind miss the fact its gone but will have to see the drop rate of keys over the coming weeks, as personally I’ve had one key drop from a trash mob in sparkfly with around 3k hours (at the time).
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-mordrem-are-coming/
Seems this event is for the newer players to practice against mordrem etc. Learn some of the basic mechanics whilst seeing the living story first hand for a weekend.
The first defence phase after a fort has been captured will reward you with a shovel.
For me it has to be masteries, the thought of forward progress without the levels and new gear tier stats makes it overall appealing. Something to work on in the dry spells providing anet does it right by making them take time.
And Fractals, being able to do one per level will make me complete them a lot more than I am now as one frac with bad pugs will be more bearable than the current four.
Might want to post this in the engie sub forum. You’ll get a lot more feedback there than you will here.
But on another note, I’m going to give this ago
One issue I found was destroying mesmer clones and summon pets from runes such as rock dogs gave the points for killing mercenaries.
If you’re interested you could also check out gw2efficiency.com. I’ll let you check it out to decide for yourself :P
You can change the stats on Ascended weapons and armor by combining an Anthology of Heroes, the equipment you want to change, five globs of ectoplasm, and an exotic insignia (for armour) or inscription (for weapons). This process destroys all upgrades.
I’ve got most the stuff for Bifrost ready for xpac…Planning to farm with the new mastery system to unlock the collection.
20 matches last night in unranked…generally play ranked solo but was with a friend.
Out of these matches at least three people in the whole game had under 200 AP each time. Out of 20 matches we lost two at the end due to low AP people zerging…No idea what they was meant to do with rotation etc so they just followed others around and ended up 3v1 on close and so forth.
The issue that I had was that it wasn’t a tight win we was winning stupid amounts such as 500-15. Don’t get me wrong shouldn’t complain about easy wins but its kinda unfair on these new players when I’m downing them in a few hits, they should at least be put in matches together to learn with the odd experienced player on each team rather than the current set up.
I fear it will push these guys away from PvP if they lose too much.
I guess the only thing we can do as a community is attempt to educate these newer players so we don’t get shafted later on in matches.
I would love build templates, got to the point I now have a Courtyard specific character.
Problem with account wide bag slots is it would be a big gem price. They must make a ton from players by selling bag slots at 400 gems a piece. I know I’ve brought eight lots and that’s over a three year play time.
I’m off until Jan 2016…New addition due in November so I have roughly four weeks to enjoy HoT day and night!
Or save the gold on the account and once you feel you have enough buy HoT for that account to xfer that gold to your main and then start getting login rewards.
Or wait until HoT is on sale and apply the same principle.
Some guy on youtube did every cut scene but would have to put up with him super speeding through the rest of the dungeon until the next cut scene.
Get more gems with your achi chests too
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement_rewards
Second me on this one! Online during daytime/early evening EU willing to help you through your dungeons and fractal needs.
I re-installed last night due to some errors with win10 not functioning correctly with certain apps.
It took roughly 30% of the full client then it was playable, just meant that loading into DR took longer than usual, but load times are back to normal once streaming has finished.
Just over 300k files – Aug 2015. Still pretty fast download with standard connection during prime time.
Farm AP, you get them in AP chests. No loads but some, I think you get 1 or 2 in most chests, but the 5000 and 10,000 you get 10 I think. And you get 400 gems. I can say about anything past that as I can only see to 11k and there only a few in the next chests after that, I’m only just about to ding my 9.5K chest.
This happened to the other team around 21:30 BST 27th Aug.
Also happened to my team after the patch on Tuesday.
Something to do with win 10? As only a few people from each team seem to crash when its occurred.
If your on Na you could come fractal with me. They are lvl80 adventures where you explore three islands with a boss at the end of each. Then the fourth island is a big boss.
Expanding on this, if you’re on EU then I can frac with you.
12 points shouldn’t be that hard to get. The link below has a guide for getting the quickest, usually class wouldn’t matter in GW1 seeing you have henchmen and hero’s (later on in the game). So just roll a class you think you’d enjoy, for efficiency I’d go Warrior.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_earning_Hall_of_Monuments_rewards
Linking your GW1+GW2 account = 3 points
40 mini pets = 7 (Common white ones are pretty cheap – I can donate what I have too)
1 rare pet = 6 points
These re just some of the easiest you could do. Enjoying the lore and completing the story whilst you’re there is also a good idea.
The dailychest makes it worth it.
20g for a fractal skin or a ascended armor piece sounds kinda cheap.
Cheap but not guaranteed. It all comes down to personal preference if you can be bothered to run the fracs or not. Its a gamble if your luck pays out that spending 20g nets you an ascended piece you want.
If you’re not going to miss the 20g then why not… EU side some people are starting to sell for 15g now.
Not too keen on map completion only take part when I need the gifts but the method that works best for me is when I can commit a few hours to game play in one day.
I tend to do 25% then do some other bits such as PvP or dungeons then do another 50% before finishing the last 25% later that night or the following day. This way it doesn’t feel like a grind.
I’m currently working on my necro and completing about five maps a week in as little as an hour overall map exploration per map. I tend to not linger on hearts that take forever and come back to them once they’ve refreshed with stuff I can interact with or kill.
Have you considered CoE all paths? Depending on your party and experience they can be done in as little as little as 40 minutes although most pugs it takes an hour to run all of them.
Each path is pretty much the same although they have their own little twist in the middle, so may wish to learn this before hand.
CoE 1: In the middle of the path you need to deactivate a security console five times. Most people will set the first security console off then have four people do it at same time whilst one defends. Whilst on the console it takes roughly ten? Seconds and you can’t use any skills whilst being immobilized in the mean time. Whilst deactivating self destructible golems spawn and if they are not killed their AoE will knock you of the console. Each time you deactivate the console a wave of golems spawn.
The second part to this path and the second to last boss is ‘Bjarl the Rampager’ this guy has a buff called ‘Scales of Jormag’ that allows him to take minimal damage, to get rid of this he needs to use his charge skill into one of the beams located around the centre platform. Pretty simple, just need stand behind one until he charges at the party.
CoE 2: Second to last boss is a Husk similar to those in TA and The Silverwastes that has a high amount of HP. You need to use a gun found in the room where he is located and control the golems to destruct on the husk to do high AoE damage. Same time avoiding the golems as once they are in agro range of a player they wont be controlled by the gun and destroyed the brambles that spawn so the golems don’t get stuck and blow up on them.
CoE 3: The special boss here is the destoryer, this part required three party members to activate lasers at roughly the same time to deactivate a shield protecting the boss. Once deactivated you can jump into the middle and DPS him down.
Alternatively, check out gw2dungeons.net for more information on the paths or ‘Banter Bill’ on youtube has great dungeon running guides for learning paths your unsure on.
For fractals it might be an idea to carry on working your way up the personal reward levels all the way to 50. Once HoT comes out you will be able to progress on towards level 100.
Also if your after dungeon armours then you can also do PvP reward tracks. You may need to run the story mode of the specific dungeon first unless its on its weekly rotation.
If you’re on EU then give me a shout and I’ll run dungeons that you can’t find groups for.
You may like to try out story mode dungeons first. They are a bit more relaxed and can easily be completed with lower levels. This will give you the opportunity to be introduced to the dungeon game play.
If you’re on EU feel free to add me I have no issue exploring with anyone looking to learn.
At some point last year they increased the loot tables for mystic forge drops by doing this they basically allowed 80’s to return lower levels.
We will get a specific fractal for a certain level as you’ve stated, I’m pretty sure boss frac’s will be like any other fractal once its implemented. However we will need to wait until they release the new fractal schedule.
Regarding porting to the observatory, we can only presume its like it is now. Once we completed a set of fractals we get transported back, as the new frac’s are on one island per scale then it only makes sense for it to still operate like this.
Hypothetically, Swamp is Fractal 96. Wont people just run this over and over again rather than Cliffside at 100? The way i see it is people are going to burst through this scaling system quickly (even though it scales to 100) because its technically less instances to 100 than it was doing three (or four) to 50… I’m only at scale 30 something currently and pretty much enjoying it the way it is.
Although swamp is going to be quicker than cliffside they have stated that the longer the frac the more rewarding it will be. Whatever these rewards are, they have yet to be announced.

Like Dani said but if it was a circumstance of verbal abuse then use the report feature in game for support to review.
I tend to try and run frac 50 daily unless its a different daily such as 1-10. Also using gw2efficiency to monitor my PuG times to give myself a little bit more of a challenge, not had a run take more than 50 minutes at level 50 (but that’s always starting with swamp).
I’ve had 10 boxes drop in a total of 70 level 30+ fracs. So I guess it all comes down to time, if you have the time then run it if not then the option to buy is there.
My first character in 2012 took me roughly 1.5 hours per level, but this was due to exploring the content etc I pretty much ignored my personal story up until 80 which would have sped things up a little if I took part.
Overall took me about two weeks then I quit and returned mid 2013 and been here on and off ever since.
My problem was I was too focused on getting 100% map than I was leveling to 80 so it just felt like a massive grind as a new player, once I got out of that mind frame it became quite enjoyable.
Hey,
So PvP and World Vs World are two different game modes within GW2. PvP is anything up to 10v10 in custom arena’s and 5v5 in ranked/unraked. For PvP when you get into the lobby you will need to select your build on the top middle of your screen, amulets in PvP are a universal gear stat combo rather than having gear like PvE and WvW.
WvWvW is large scale PvP. Here you use the same gear as you would in PvE and vice versa. Now you can use your own build but seeing your struggling check out this site for builds:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki
It has all the current up to date builds that are deemed worthy by the community. Each build will come with an explanation on how to utilize it correctly but it will be down to you to learn the classes you play to master them.
Once you are comfortable with understanding skills within GW2 you may give your own builds a try but for now this site will help you a little bit.
Most if not all servers have a a WvW teamspeak so you may also like to check these out for communication in zergs. Depending on your sever tier will depend on how well you can small roam with parties as the bigger servers will have bigger zergs running around face rolling. Although most commanders who are leading are generally nice enough to leave small groups to battle it out rather than wipe you however this is not always the case.
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/eu/wvw
The link shows the different sever tiers.
Hopefully this is of some help.
Content guide isnt as optimized as it will show you events over the nearest needed icon if the event is near by. But it will get you around pretty quick. Try not to linger on slow hearts for too long, WP back to them later on when the stuff has refreshed for you to interact this will speed stuff up a lot.
Perm swiftness in your build will do you a great deal of time saving too.
(edited by Blush Lift.3570)
You might like to check this website out. It has the optimized routes to do map completion. However, some of the maps with living story are partly out of date so you will need to take this into consideration when looking at them.
I’ve been using these maps in the last month and only places such as Kessex Hills where the Tower of Nightmare messed stuff up has been my only issue. Other maps such as Plains of Ashford have had more points of interests added too.
The link is below, there is also a reddit post with a file you can extract floating around if interested.
http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/mmo/guild-wars-2/402066-guide-exploring-world-optimized-way-all-areas.html
I don’t really have a zone order, I tend to start in the starter zone then just go into each zone from there using the guide if I’m rushing. If I’m not rushing I do a map a day, will tend to do 25% then head off and do some other content come back for another 50% then finish the last 25% later on but it all depends on how fast you want to complete it.
I know you said a week but hopefully you wont get burnt out too quickly and the maps will be helpful, I was able to complete Queensdale etc within 35-40mins following the maps.

Logged in on all my accounts for login rewards then back out…been same for previous eight days now after returning from holiday I’ve had no motivation. No doubt return properly once routine at home is settled again.
Generally, Login on multiple accounts then aim to complete a filled list in my head of short lived ideas of savings ready for Heart of Thorns.
Usually consists of the following:
Daily login, PvP daily for potions, save said potions for new reward tracks, champion bag farm, couple dungeons, full frac run – depending on daily – if not then level 50, ascended material crafting, Necro map completion. Slowly working on collections as a side project. Rinse and repeat for some more months until HoT.
[beta] How does mastery progression feel?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I do like the idea of longer progress the more we progress into the mastery as others have suggested but unsure if it will cater to the casual folk.
