Acro is still garbage of course standing on it’s own at least, even with Pain Response on 16s, with Don’t Stop on it’s own with 10s as GM? More boon stealing/ripping aswell, still Larcenous Strike only procs on hit and Plasma is even more OP.
Lead attacks opens up for more DPS, but means Trickery will be still mandatory, Init management isn’t much of a problem, since it stacks based on Init used now, means you’ll still have to manage Init, but not at a cost of that multiplier.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Thanks for reconsidering and listening to the community.
Hopefully you will bring more changes to the Commander System in the near future.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I had to try at least :P
Thieves useless in wvw apart from scouting, killing Dolyaks and sentries? This thread is going places; it’s insulting to skilled thieves who don’t run zerker and perma stealth to kitten and troll around.
Again Shadow’s Embrace removes only ONE condition if you can access stealth which depends on your build, under shadow refuge it’s more efficient is quite easy to notice with that house icon hanging above it – You just need to FOCUS AOE or damage on that circleand you can also push us out of it unless we dodge between the circle.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
People remember you as a commander for your commanding style and personality, but the average wvwer will follow you for the amount of loot and how many objectives you cap – the dedicated wvwers follow and support you because they understand. The problem is 100g for many is easy to gain, so you can get some bad commanders that makes the Pugs lose respect for the tag..
Not everyone is going to be a popular or successful commander to be fair because it’s hard work, but you shouldn’t give up, comparing yourself to other commanders who draw more numbers isn’t going to help.
I wouldn’t give up, running a havoc or sniper team that plays more strategically feels more satisfying even though you may get blobbed alot.
Otherwise take a break and come back when people are more inclined to follow you for the good reasons you tag up for. There are times that I’ve felt a bit ‘sensitive’ about my voice, but people learned to appreciate my effort.
Just don’t rage and embrace your army of pugs as a pugmander.
Also don’t listen to the negative people who think they could do better when they probably wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure!
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Making WvW a Team Competition won’t fix it, it’ll only kill it even more and close out the population that WvW thrives on; From Roamers to Random Zerglings – it should not be a game mode where it’s mainly exclusive to those who want to PvP in a Competitive esports style.
Don’t care about community for whatever reasons? That’s fine, but don’t look down on those who do like playing amongst their community because it may be too ‘casual’ for your own taste.
The problem is that populations are not spread out enough between servers, Anet promotes stacking on most top tier servers.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
This time last year we had the same problems, a major guild left, others followed and commanders were burned out, we were also stuck in T1 with no sight of us dropping anytime soon.
What happened is a bunch of us dedicated people decided to make an effort to fight back, painting our borderland our color at the end of the night was our aim.
And then a people like me stepped up to command, guilds formed/transferred and improved – once we dropped we had the chance to rebuild.
Our community must be lucky though as our WvW pop fluctuates, transferring might of been an option at one point, but for those who stuck around we were proud of our achievements, it might not be the same case for you though.
The point I’m making is the grass isn’t always going to be greener on the other side, every community is different so you probably won’t find yourself happy in some way.
Tl;Dr – Desolation has had many lowpoints where you thought we would freefall compared to many other servers in the past, but each time we’ve rebuilt even though we’ve had to fight outnumbered for months.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Yes, or even a counter AC before they bring reinforcements.
There is no arrow cart problem unless you don’t know how to counter, it’s almost impossible to defend outnumbered otherwise; especially against Golem Rushes or even Ram Rushes these days with Ram Mastery.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’ve had the same problem here, I’m from the EU on Desolation and I seem to rubberband and bad skill delay during the evening but not so bad late at night, even when I engage combat with a small group or a single player.
It might be due to my ISP but I don’t know for sure.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Generally you won’t find a fair fight in wvw, you will find that most of the time you’ll be chasing or running away from zergs, or from certain Classes running “Cheese” builds that are not easy to counter.
Personally I also scout out guild groups and any other zergs running, and sometimes I get to lure them towards our own zerg or my guild.
In the end I still have a good time even if I get chased or ganked., I merge with other roamers if needed – but sadly I rarely find many fellow Roamers on Desolation post Tournament.

This is how it was at 19:00GMT we were outnumbered on our Home Borderlands. Lately the communication, coordination and fighting spirit we used to have that rallied the community for a while seems to have dissipated, it feels like Deso has gone backwards.
The pugs get easily demoralized so they end up going back to old habits and stacking on EB, cause a couple of weeks ago we usually had the outnumbered buff on there, but now we struggle for numbers on the Borderlands.
It’s true that what pugs expect is reward which you get from lootbags and WXP, many of our pugs are not as dedicated or hardcore as we are,but we can’t expect that as we are High pop cause of our PVE population and a strong PVP community.
We truly lack dedicated wvw players who know what builds to use and the fundamentals of wvw besides zerging, but this is no bash towards them as I was once a PVE’er; they can become something more than a ‘clueless’ pug like I was.
As for complaining about x server having more coverage where was the complaining when we were face rolling lower ranked servers with less coverage and running Karma Trains which has seemed to made us complacent? There is no population cap at any hour there never has been..
We should blame ANET for this matchup system that doesn’t take into account wvw population, but what servers can we truly expect have a balanced matchup against like we did back in February without it being too one sided?
SFR has a strong wvw community and it’s one of the top servers as they are so well coordinated and organized with the dedicated community they have, you’ll no doubt attract many server bandwagoners as we used to have back in the day when we were T1 server with many more dedicated wvw Guilds due to success.

Read the text guys it isn’t tl;dr, so stop posting your vids here unless you are trying to gain viewers for your videos..
community@arena.net, using the Subject line “WvW video”.
Generally you shouldn’t be interrupted, or interrupt in the OS, otherwise it’s up in the air.
Not really , we melt unless traited, like with the ‘new’ Resilience of Shadows trait in SA.
We can contest the circle pretty well though.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Shadow Rejuvenation doesn’t show up as regen as far as I’m aware, nor does it heal anyone else but yourself.
This is the trait that you are thinking of : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadow_Protector
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Same problem here, skills are taking a while to trigger at times.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Stat increases would ruin small scale stuff for those people who prefer to that kind of stuff. So I don’t know how you can make Outnumbered useful, yet keep it from being OP.
Maybe stuff like +5 supply or something along those lines, but nothing that makes a group or individual players an advantage on the pvp side of things.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I hear you, Hap. And it was nice you were commanding short time on Deso BL this reset. Unfortunately no good fights, enemy outnumbers us greatly. Thus Desolation is no longer “very high” population server, but only “high”. The only “very high” servers in EU are: Baruch Bay, Jade Sea and Seafarer’s Rest.
It’s because you’re left with just Pugs on Deso now, I don’t even think I saw a single raid from other guilds who could bring together 10 players (AIM/IRON) and then there is EB. That is the state of Deso, the only thing that kept Deso from dropping, is Night capping.
The maps won’t change a thing, people fail to adapt (blob mentality) and Anet needs to bring some changes to their border, the mechanics and merge populations somehow. Everything about wvw got stale and the meta got worse. (no surprise, cause they don’t balance for WvW)
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
They lose numbers past 3-4am GMT and run less numbers than they usually did a couple of months ago, they don’t even have much going during the day and are nowhere near T1 anymore, so all is well.
Just look at last week: http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/15/404
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It’s because they almost never listen to what people say, even through constructive means. They usually bring in changes from out of nowhere, which of course some of you will sympathize with. Like while I enjoy Nintendo Consoles and IPs, being different hasn’t always brought success for them.
Too much Terrain and Enviromental hazards isn’t a good thing, it’s just trying to experiment with a formula that may be stale but it works well as it is, despite population/coverage imbalance.
They don’t need to try too hard, to make the wvw experience fresh and to keep it more accessible, experimenting with EoTM is fine, but the Borderlands?
We shouldn’t be beta testing this stuff.
This basically:
That’s largely why I think roaming in EotM never took off. I know it’s funny and “tactical” to knock people off the edge, but ultimately it’s not a very satisfying win. Most people roam for the fun of some good fights, and running around with a LB or Hammer and knocking people off isn’t a good fight. Just look at Skyhammer.. noone liked that kitten because it had nothing really to do with fighting, just knocking people off and spamming an un-blockable un-evadable cannon. That’s not PvP and it’s not actually what people want in the long run.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The logic behind linkings, is so bad..
I expect most sensible Guilds avoid using their home Borderlands just for fights, but also most sensible Guilds should be able to find a good balance that suits their own needs and for their Server.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
A Zerker Ranger is a rallybot not a zergling..
Anyway in wvw critical damage is much higher than in PvP and you have Bloodlust Stacks, Food and Oil, and Applied Strength. It hurts more in wvw that’s for sure, besides Thieves like everyone else will be brought down a bit once they bring in Ferocity.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Its funny cause they adjusted Pikens glicko months ago, drastically for no reason at all. They should stop this linking experiment already and just merge servers/tiers, adjust transfer costs where needed, so we see more stability.
I would guess most Servers would say they are friendly and all that, have public tags, organized community TS, that they’re open to different players play-styles and Guilds etc.
You probably won’t be able to truly tell what server suits you, unless you have friends or have a 2nd account to try it out, better to experience things first hand to see if it’s to your standards.
That site mainly shows that other servers don’t like each other that much, otherwise IMO it’s pretty quiet on the EU side.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’m sorry, but anyone who thinks necro’ing threads will do any good is wrong, as discussed on Gw2wvw.net.
Doing so thinking they’ll bow down to our demands by not giving constructive criticism isn’t going to achieve anything, but make them ignore us more – it only shows one person throwing his toys out of the pram. I know they might not acknowledge it, I’ve written stuff that isn’t always acknowledged, but I have to think it’s being taken into account and that I’m making a difference.
We all want the best for WvW, it’s a game mode not an individual product with so much promise that isn’t in our vision, yet there isn’t something quite like it that brings us back to play it everyday.
I’m sure there are many like me still enjoy hopping into WvW daily with Acquaintances, Friends and Guildies; who also want to see new WvW content and changes. Otherwise we might aswell give up and reroll tetris.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
These kind of threads goes to show what little Knowledge people have of thieves and our viable builds.
You can easily avoid a C&D, which burns alot of our initiative compared to a Dagger/Pistol thief that has an Smoke Field that enables us to stealth, that is truly “Cheese” mode unlike the more ‘Niche’ D/D Thieves.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Same here on Desolation soon after reset, it’s settled down though.
Meanwhile at Desolation, most of the PVE’ers have gone, 2 weeks ago there was 50-100 man queues on all maps. Can you imagine if Desolation had a link and the PVE’ers had incentive to WvW again.
I just think Links are a bandaid and causes more problems, than fixing population imbalance at all.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Most Guilds on desolation are on a break or even disbanded, that’s why there’s little to no queues atm. I do not think T1-3 EU is even that active anymore.
Should they open up transfers right now?
I don’t think so, unless Deso had less players around PPTing (PvDooring @night), you might not even see it dropping in Population status, because there is probably players taking up slots right now; that are inactive.
Thankfully the restriction is there to stop bandwagoners.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I wonder how many people have just thrown their hands up and already quit because of this?
Nah, ppl just quit because things got stale, or they don’t want to spend time, to adapt to the new mechanics..
Weird. Prior to HoT the maps were quite busy.
It’s because people had Pre-HoT hype, came back, HoT came out, everybody spent most of their time in pve unlocking their elites and then people re-entered, but gave up once they tried working their way through the maps.
WvW isn’t rewarding,. and there’s really no point in playing for points or objectives anymore.
There’s one guild on Deso, day and night, that has no clue how to really defend stuff, they just look for undefendable stuff for points and prefer to stay away from doing any pvp, apart from zerging.
My guild is the only Guild on the Borderlands, looking to fight during the evening. Compared to every other server, at least they try to make use of the map terrain, but Deso has only 1-3 guilds and a queue on EB if we’re lucky.
People might stay around, because of how good the combat is, but the balance sucks aswell.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
^^ maybe that’s a reaction to you getting Deso this week haha!
Well now in T1 EU, you have people constantly flipping each other’s keeps, kodash doesn’t have much night presence though.
One thing’s for sure if you still care about PPT competitively for some reason, you have to avoid fighting each other, which isn’t anything different I know, but now golems melt gates of course; basically it’s a Karma train -_-.
Note: Glicko should be frozen for a week or something.
Note 2: People on Desolation still think WvW/PPT is SRS BSN.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Roaming was already frustrating with all the power creep.
In the end, most of the time highest population wins like in the EU: http://mos.millenium.org/matchups/skirmish/3679
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
All you need to do is organize things, as you usually do, with the TS Server(s) you already have in place, it depends on how Alliances are implemented and who ends up in admin/leadership positions.
Before people left Desospeak for IRON speak, we used another Guild’s TeamSpeak Server, while people qq’d over some silly drama, so there are Servers already in place with an amount of slots; to be used and expanded if necessary.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It’s an incredibly good gap closer especially against Rangers, depends if you need Bountiful Theft or Thrill of Crime really.
That does not sound like Deso to me, we are a generally a friendly Community but there may be a few bad eggs among us, and as mentioned you might of caught some gals/guys during a heated moment. We are all human.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
S/d init costs are high enough as it is aswell, fs/ls in total 6 or 8 init whether it procs is harsh, meanwhile c&d is 6 init, in comparison staff is less initiative hungry, it has no split skills, but still good sustained dps and a strong #5 aoe attack costing just 5 init.
Infiltrator’s Strike/Return used to be a stun breaker and instant, they removed the stun breaker bit and then added an animation and cast time to it though.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It’s happening in other places in the world, people should take notice of that aswell, pray for a better and safer world for everyone.
Abuse, trolling, bad sportmanship and all that, it happens enough in WvW even through blocked whisper lists.
I just hopped into pvp match just now and the qq was pretty bad itself. -.-
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I cannot agree with Forced GvGing. Even with all the rivalries between servers, the bandwagoning, “buying guilds”, spying in TS, etc. There are big server communities behind each server. Players work together and form real friendships in WvWvW.
I believe this is something GvGers forget about server based WvWvW. GW1 had GvG but I don’t think Arenanet will ever support it completely in GW2. The simplest is that unorganised zerging with “PUGs” is easily done with a commander tag.
This is just my opinion of course but I think that GvGers are too elitist and even mean sometimes to the players on a server. The militia fight for their server too. They may not all be on TS, some may even be on uplevels but without them at all WvWvW would be much more emptier place.
Please love the random players aka the PUGs of your server and teach them how to WvWvW even encourage them to join a guild or give advice on builds and gear. But don’t just hate on them for the sake of it. Thanks for reading. <3
This really.
WvW is supposed to be accessible to all players, no matter if you are new, casual or hardcore – without any stigma or being left out from communities and rewards because you aren’t to their high standards
Being community based has many flaws especially when I’ve seen my own Server go through some Alliance problems which would be a major issue in this system really, otherwise there are the usual population imbalance issues due to transfers (which you have to realize also makes it hard to maintain a Community) and cross-server rivalry toxic stuff.
There are enough positives such as the unique social experience you get from being among your own communities, even if you are socially indifferent for some reason – there is space for everyone in their communities whatever play-style you prefer.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The queue was popping up for some of us but it didn’t load us into the BL we queued for, it ended up kicking some of us out of the queue.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don;t know what you’ve done this past week, but my ping and rubberbanding this week has gotten so bad, it’s even worse than way back in the times I started playing those First Person shooters, back in the early 00s and then as I moved to broadband; when it became more mainstream.
It isn’t down to traceroutes, the lag from this afternoon disappeared from 11pm BST tonight and I started pinging below 100ms.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’ve had enough of the kitten Solo MMR system this season, took a break and came back, but it’s the same thing as 4 weeks ago.
Almost every single game, it’s either I get players with no rotational awareness, ones that die in one shot and or have no idea how to kite with their Characters, even I manage it playing multiple alts.
Now and again I get a game or two, where the other team is as mention above, which makes no logical sense, to go from a lose to a win streak, or just W L W L W L W W, often lopsied either way. Honestly I have to say this Season is a failure, unless you put up with ELO hell, somehow have good MMR, a decent team or get out of ELO hell somehow. Now back to WvW, oh wait..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Another thief or mesmer can catch them, or a LB ranger really and CC before they even stealth, if they run d/p.
I’m sorry but long bow rangers were like buffet when I used to main a thief.
Most rangers should be able to beat thieves, especially druids. As OP describes, 2 trolling 8 random players, which are probably bad.
They can’t dodge and stealth everything, especially when a druid has 1500 range attacks, CC and pets, there’s little LOS in WvW, apart from some camps. Anyway, 1 or even 2 skilled players and they should be downed easy, or they completely run away.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It’s to be expected, we used to get masteries and WvW Seasons as new ‘features’.
Fixing population and Scoring, is going to take alot of change, they’ve known all the issues since the last CDI in 2014 (I think), hopefully the beta is around Spring/summer and not too late, cause communities are going to die.
And hopefully they actually bring some Balancing of Classes to wvw, if they allow CoR to be untouched, the current meta is gonna make even more players quit.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I can’t quite believe there hasn’t been much changes to the all important commander or party system, I’ve seen people with tags who have not much clue and just confuse the pugs especially with multiple tags or when we try a guild raid it would be nice to make the tag only visible to our guilds, yet we get these arrow cart buffs, gimmicky traps, wvw ranks etc.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
2 things ruin GW2 and WvW and are completely the fault of the balance team:
Causes: Power creeps, Condi creep, Boon creep, CC creep, terrible skill balance in regards to recharge time, casting time and armor type. Even heavy classes now do more damage than light classes. Why have a light class cast a meteor shower that barely does anything anymore unless enemies stand still when a heavy class can do 20k+ damage on a 3 second cooldown without such an horrendous casting time?
The Meta nowadays is pretty stale, at least you see staff eles in larger numbers, not in Raiding/GvG guilds. No wonder so many Guilds got bored, quit and won’t come back.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
They’ve always had guilds raiding late since the ‘beginning of time’, even the guilds who moved onto other EU servers, start later than other EU guilds. For anyone who’s been on Piken in the past 2 years, Cleaning Squad was from Piken and are on Deso now.
Perhaps they have the Strongest night cap in the EU, because of cultural differences, apart from that they don’t have that much during the day. As someone who experienced Season 2 in Gold, and people from Desolation will know what I’m talking about what happened, I know that is something you just have to put up with.
As for OdS, who are good at trolling with Thieves who run Shadow Arts and mesmers, but they aren’t that hard to take down, CC does wonders. I used to help chase them about inside our keeps during S2, that’s how they tried to get points..
