Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

Starting this Friday at reset, WvW will begin doing 1 up / 1 down matchmaking.
This means a single, third-placing world will move down one tier and a single, first-placing world will move up one tier. If there is a tie for last, no world moves down, which also means no world in the tier below can move up (as there’s no room). Similarly, if there is a tie for first, no world moves up, which prevents the next tier up’s last-place world from moving down.

An organized large scale fighting group doesn’t need medium armor classes, simply because other classes give better support, have decent sustain and output good damage, than classes like rangers and thieves, who only mainly do single target attacks and so they are niche in party/squad compositions.
They are better off roaming otherwise, if it isn’t just a PPT commander leading.
Even then they will usually be farmed against any organized groups, if they have 5-8 medium armor classes taking up spots and end up with a lack of support (boons, cleanses and heals) or damage.
Its just how the classes are balanced for large scale fights and how the game mechanics work.

The current population algorithm is a mess, especially for a server like Desolation, which has been the home of many of the pve population.
Even though that is now on a megaserver, we are left with full population, that only plays occasionally and does not involve themselves in their own wvw community.
You are left with queues or players, especially to a EB, full with pugs which have little regard to allowing their commander, to have to an organized and coordinated zerg.
May it be bearbows, dragon hunters, thieves who attempt to zerg in zerker armour or double axe warriors, they just don’t end up being useful.
You are always going to have the super casual players in wvw, but to be stuck with so many you try to support with a tag, voice comms, community site and discord, you might aswell be in EoTM.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I wish we could start from scratch, so you would actually have people who want to be part of the community., not just players who don’t join Squads or voice comms, try to learn to play in an organized way., without the pressure of being in a Guild.
Most of them are just there because they chose it as a Home Server, with little effort to being part of the community.

Don’t transfer to a linked server, relinking should be this or next friday.
Bah been trying to test in WvW but it reset night and nothing but massive blobs on the map.
DE spec does NOT do well against them blobs. There little get away potential. This does not mean it can not help in a group fight, it just means when outnumbered The mobility of the Drd beats the stealth on DE.
Observations on the RIFLE only.
That needing to hit 5 to get out of a kneel is just too awkward. Allow some other means.
As others noted projectile speed slow So I would like to see a boost of around 30 percent.
All of the activation times are just too long. I can see some of the big hitters being at 3/4’s of a second but I think Brutal Aim should be lowered to 1/2 second and skirmishers shot to 1/4. This will allow the DE some measure of counterplay that can be used in a pinch and is not just interrupted. Thief still lacks stability so we tend to need to be able to rely on faster activation times on skills so as to do damage
Its definitely not going to make thief viable in zerging, it could be quite cheesy in gvgs though. Berserker gunflame was way more OP pre and post launch, especially when it coulr double hit AND pierce.
The rifle seems a little too slow, but its strong in certain situations.
It takes a while to get used to having no gap closer like steal though.
The lack of mobility hurts in wvw, without daredevil, although it seems to synergize pretty well with SA.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Thieves are pretty much useless in zergs anyway, who cares.
They melt inside AOE otherwise. There are broken mechanics in wvw, but complaining about this is like someone who claimed light armour classes were OP in zergs.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Jon snow knows nothing.
It was asked before and after HoTs launch, whether we could expand the arenas and make some much needed balance changes to CoR and other OP skills that arrived with HoT, but only the latter happened, eventually.
Maybe they’ll announce something soon, or not. It seems like it was an after thought though, the arena is and was not a good place to GvG in.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Gliding or parachuting was a feature needed desert borders, so I expect queues to test out the feature, when it arrives. Its just that the alpines have functional verticality, where most of the time you avoid falling off by accident, unless your a scrub like me.
At least EB should be safe from exploits, I don’t think you can reach many towers by gliding, Anza is obviously I can think of at this hour. I guess the anza hills vantage point will be changed.

So this is why servers like Desolation are ‘Full’.
Desolation has been a populated PVE server since launch, but since the introduction of megaservers, we’ve had this population on here filling up the quota?
So I guess this means you’ll need trailblazer gear (which I heard takes a while to complete a set), along with runes and sigils for higher combined duration, rather than rely on veggie pizzas and toxic oils so much.
I was making a condi reaper..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
HoT could of been a kitteneaper, i don’t know if it was discounted on ‘other’ sites though.
It took them a year to get WvW to being satisfying again, but still PvP/WvW profession balancing, wasn’t great.
Everything else added to WvW needed more testing though.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It took them months to nerf Condi ‘Ghost’ Thief, small scale balance is the least of their worries really.
WvW changes and balance changes take months to happen too, so don’t expect Post-HoT to be that balanced, when WvW is not a priority.
There is just too many variables to balance in WvW, it’s like Open world PvP, there’s plenty of diversity, but Condi builds are going to win most fights, in the right hands.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Is there any news about this?
Wouldn’t it be obvious to have Tiered MUs as they stand, prior to the week you bring back one up/one down?
The logic behind linkings, is so bad..
WvW specific profession balance changes.
Meanwhile at Desolation, most of the PVE’ers have gone, 2 weeks ago there was 50-100 man queues on all maps. Can you imagine if Desolation had a link and the PVE’ers had incentive to WvW again.
I just think Links are a bandaid and causes more problems, than fixing population imbalance at all.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
They don’t care about small scale balance, but even in terms of large scale fights, the meta can get a bit boring, unless you play different professions. The skill lag can be also insane.
Queues are ridiculous on Desolation, who aren’t even linked. They’re gonna have to try get people to organize things somehow, but there’s literally dozens of PVE players that won’t all cooperate, let’s see if they actually become a part of WvW, unlike those tournaments. I doubt it though.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Just like the Tournaments and when they introduced World vs World Ranks then.
3 weeks = showing loyalty? not really, from what I’ve seen.
Split profession balance would be a start, especially for the expansion and proper server merges. Otherwise I can’t see WvW being like it was for the first 3 years, they have no competition, so they won’t be focusing so much resources on WvW.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Maybe if they merge servers and spread out populations better.
I doubt it’ll happen, it’s been almost 5 years, I don’t think they can ever properly balance WvW competitively.
It doesn’t even sound like, any different to what it used to work like, sure you can reflect projectiles, but it’s still unblockable.. they even increased the radius.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Its funny cause they adjusted Pikens glicko months ago, drastically for no reason at all. They should stop this linking experiment already and just merge servers/tiers, adjust transfer costs where needed, so we see more stability.
What’s the point in Double links these days?
I remember when they had a closed beta for the map.
I don’t think they had the numbers to really test the map out, it had so many flaws for a while, it needed changes before it even released, after HoT was released, like the laser event, that lagged the entire map.
Season 2 GOLD League in the EU was alright, it just went on for too long. The Silver League was a joke, because servers who didn’t belong there just, fell into that Tier and facerolled the Competiton and people just bandwagoned there.
The way they dealt with transfers, the majority of players, who wanted to win, just transferred in mass to stack on a ‘winning’ serve. Links are the same concept, to try to ‘balance’ out the population, but not every server has a link, it’s not competitively balanced, Anet still can’t balance out populations properly, especially in the EU.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Anybody else get this bug, after EU reset?
RvR/Large scale combat and community/the social aspect.
Yes, I got turned invisible earlier tonight, because of Lich Form.
I can’t think of a better test for scoring, than the population WvW had 2-3 years ago, now it’s just all linked to which servers get linked every 2 months usually, because of how the population has shrunk, so most players stack on one Server, like in the EU.
New content is relinking and new reward tracks..
I’m not sure what else they could do, unless it’s another new Map and Server merges.
They did that with FSP once, no idea why, cause they didn’t need the queues.
Because they think AG will be saved with 2 links.
Piken isn’t really that stacked though, queues aren’t that bad, especially compared to Vabbilation when the linking tests started. This is NO excuse, because I am pretty sure overall numbers have went down.
There are probably less players on the Main server, they’re either Full or Very High populated these days, when they’re not.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)

FSP + Vabbi
Piken + BT
No epidemic change either. Nothing to see here, it’s mostly PvP changes as expected, although the light field change seems to benefit WvW more.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
They make changes for PvP mainly, only once in a blue moon for WvW.
People that complain about high mobility and such small scale builds, that are broken, shouldn’t expect too much. Like those people who complain about thieves, who are mostly useless outside of ganking, roaming against squishies/zerg builds, some 1v1s and scouting.
Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Would this mean you’ll fix the invisible weapon bug too?
Are you kidding? I just ran with a zerg during reset and the other zergs ran condi necros or whatever, without it or cleanses, you melt in seconds to conditions
Human male Thief coats are pretty horrendous, I much prefer Medium armor on Human female Thieves.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
World linking is flawed, unfortunately.
No one will bother, trying to climbing up with a Low ranked server, they would rather be on a linked server, in T1 or T2 in the EU at least.
Just look at the people who were on Vabbi before, unfortunately the Tier isn’t viable for many players.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I imagine Deso being linked to FoW next, Piken is overstacked, linking servers is such a mess.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’ve heard good things about FF XIV too, GW2 just feels a little dated to me at this point, especially presentation wise .
I only usually play WvW though, I never felt like PVE felt engrossing enough or had much to do. The new Zones are much better, but beyond grinding, something like HoT Hero points, there hasn’t been much for me to do anymore, with the amount of time I want to play.
It’s still a very good MMO, it’s just that WvW is alot less populated than 2 years ago, there needs to be better profession balance for each game mode and the engine could do with some optimization.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Open Deso too, but don’t link them again, or better yet merge servers and lower the transfer costs, it would help balance out populations, the only problem is measuring and changing population ATM, is too slow.
2 things ruin GW2 and WvW and are completely the fault of the balance team:
Causes: Power creeps, Condi creep, Boon creep, CC creep, terrible skill balance in regards to recharge time, casting time and armor type. Even heavy classes now do more damage than light classes. Why have a light class cast a meteor shower that barely does anything anymore unless enemies stand still when a heavy class can do 20k+ damage on a 3 second cooldown without such an horrendous casting time?
The Meta nowadays is pretty stale, at least you see staff eles in larger numbers, not in Raiding/GvG guilds. No wonder so many Guilds got bored, quit and won’t come back.
