Nothing about Coverage problem on Expansion ?

in WvW

CrimsonNeonite.1048

I doubt they’ll change anything in that regards, which goes back to my question from another thread – what incentive is there for Guilds to WvW, when there is little incentive for us to contribute to their Server as much as they want to?

We should all know by now that, WvW ‘Competitvely’ in that way, is won by Coverage and numbers off peak. Of course resetting a T3 helps during or before Prime Time, but there isn’t any incentive at all for a Guild (or anyone) to PPT.
Server identity is just a convenience.

Server Population Status: 2015

It seems like many servers are full; when they’re not, while others are full of queues during prime time at least.
Then again it’s hard to measure player population – when it comes to coverage.

CrimsonNeonite.1048

There isn’t a real point, neither to take it seriously competitively, nor for the reward. Not even to stay relevant as players that claimed ‘superstar’ relevance from this game, is enough reason, or the right reason to keep you playing.

At the end of the day like everything else, you have to enjoy WvW in some capacity; either by Raiding, GvG, roaming or community blobbing, otherwise there’s other games to play and better things to do really, if you don’t enjoy things anymore.

I’ve met some great people during my time playing, even those who i don’t talk to anymore. WvW is a unique experience, with fun combat; even on the large scale.

I wonder how Feline Grace will be once the Trait changes come, I used to think the vigor changes a while back were harsh, but it didn’t really make things any harder, it only changed the old Lyssa rune meta.

When Will We See Another WvW "SEASON"?

in WvW

Posted by: CrimsonNeonite.1048

CrimsonNeonite.1048

Server Identy is only there to bring together a quantity of players on one realm to ‘fight’ other realms, otherwise Guilds/Players can then simply transfer to on mass using gems.

There is no incentive to play ‘hardcore’ WvW for the PPT, for either Guilds or players.
WvW and PPT is just an imbalanced Competition, which is apparently the only common goal to aim for any community anymore, if you don’t Raid with a Guild or GvG.

Yet rarely is a MU won by organization and the ‘best’ community, it’s down to commanders and pugs running together in one blob, you just need superior numbers over other servers outside prime time.

What becomes toxic thing is when you have PPT vs GvG, or even those having a bit of fun and playing for the fights; either way WvW lacks support for both sides.

So more WvW Tournaments is a no, no, it’s just brings more queues and a toxic atmosphere, for something that isn’t competitvely balanced.

They’ve always had guilds raiding late since the ‘beginning of time’, even the guilds who moved onto other EU servers, start later than other EU guilds. For anyone who’s been on Piken in the past 2 years, Cleaning Squad was from Piken and are on Deso now.

Perhaps they have the Strongest night cap in the EU, because of cultural differences, apart from that they don’t have that much during the day. As someone who experienced Season 2 in Gold, and people from Desolation will know what I’m talking about what happened, I know that is something you just have to put up with.

As for OdS, who are good at trolling with Thieves who run Shadow Arts and mesmers, but they aren’t that hard to take down, CC does wonders. I used to help chase them about inside our keeps during S2, that’s how they tried to get points..

Why did you stop WvWing?

in WvW

CrimsonNeonite.1048

The playerbase, literally the worst I have ever encountered, I guess because this is not a PvP MMO nor does it have PvP servers, never played a game with so many PvE nabs (and this incldues many WvW players/guilds) who run from or avoid even fights.

Face it, WvW promotes casual PvP, no matter if it’s down to zerging, most of the time you still have to be a decent enough pvper; who isn’t a rallybot, otherwise you might aswell reroll tetris. As far as Competitive PvP is concerned there’s a lack of support, besides player driven Communities; at least GvG is real, it’s just that the Meta has gotten people bored.

Where would all those YouTube Roamers find most their content, without all these scrubs while roaming? These players fight back (or don’t) and look bad, while they look good, I guess it makes them look good though.

Worst I’ve seen from Guilds, is adding into fights out in the open field at least, or blobs steamrolling Guilds running far less, because that is how it is balanced.

If you’ve been on the same Server since launch or, since you’ve had the game, you will sadly realize how pointless it is to ‘fight’ for your server.

The main thing is to have a good experience with your Guild and then whatever else there is left to WvW; like roaming or following a pug zerg.

Trying to stay out of AOE or away from the enemy Melee trains, whilst bursting down squishy or low targets; it’s actually challenging while playing with just around 2k armor.

CrimsonNeonite.1048

I still don’t see it is as a game changer like alot of people are complaining about, like all other major changes like those changes to Professions every 4-6 months; players shouldn’t be afraid of having to adapt.
Even I roam around with 13k HP sometimes, I get rekt if I don’t play more carefully, but it’s more enjoyable than playing as a Thief, who plays full Shadow Arts or full Acro.

Just give us more WvW abilities and better rewards like pvp get’s, without breaking the balance in WvW, even more as it is.
All this gave veteran players is an advantage that newer players have to grind for, it effects everyone; from Blobs, Guild Raids and small scalers anyway, for once nobody would have even more of an advantage thanks to something that’s fairly easy to grind for.

You have to be honest, these kind of stat increases made the playing field unfair; if everyone didn’t have the additional vitality, for example.

Ranger best class for WvW?

in WvW

Posted by: CrimsonNeonite.1048

CrimsonNeonite.1048

Rangers are good when they have LOS, after that if you close the distance between you and the Ranger, they’re pretty much sitting ducks if you play it right.

I was running with a group last night and this Ranger was sniping on the wall south of SM, we managed to pull him down, so he got rekt as you’d imagine; without the safety advance of Terrain and distance.

They’re especially good in a Raid/GvG group, because they can spike from distance and regroup with the Melee Train quite easily – if they get into trouble.

Best Solo roaming Server?

in WvW

Posted by: CrimsonNeonite.1048

CrimsonNeonite.1048

Gandara is also full of roaming groups, who attack any number of roamers or players they run into. Basically there’s probably more challenge to duel against anyone with builds that aren’t cheese, than solo roaming against random brainless pugs, but then again you have to realize WvW or even PvP, is not really balanced for 1v1s either.
But seriously, those troll solo roaming builds are not that good either, like those Nike Warriors and SA Thieves running about.

So you better have a group willing to run with you even if, some coordinate on TS, try blobbing or find an organized WvW/GvG Guild.

T1 servers should be more than 1800 gems I feel, below that the cost of gems should gradually drop Tier to Tier; to incentivize players to spread onto lower populated servers rather than bandwagon onto the most populated servers. But I feel the damage is already done, and no Tournament will help because players will just stack to win the best rewards.

Heck it even feels like Piken has less to fight and they are Gold, I’ve heard one Guild has left to SFR..

Points per tick isn't fun

in WvW

CrimsonNeonite.1048

PPT is a failed score mechanic, that’s why we’ve seen no WvW Season since October.. It’s too much about Coverage and numbers, less about strategy, skill and organization, so you can’t take it as a real measurement of the ‘best’ server at the end of the week,. There is little incentive to improve on community driven goals from within your community, since PPT can be won by quantity rather than quality, so generally you have to look for outside solutions to cover gaps in coverage.

It’s simply the case that not every Server has equal population, that can scout out multiple borderlands, nor stop a map hopping blob anyway.

I see such things as politics between PPT and fighting Guilds, that I feel it’s more of an issue with the PPT Score mechanic right now without PPK giving incentive to Guilds to fight and contribute to the PPT. Those politics end up being over something that matters very little, we are all just playing a game at the end of the day.

CrimsonNeonite.1048

D/P is the better set compared to D/D, obviously, because of the access to blinds and shadow shot being a gap closer, both synergizes well with SA/Trickery and S/D simply has much more mobility compared to S/P, because Pistol whip roots you on the spot.

P/D can be ‘OP’ in WvW, geared properly together with Shadow Arts, so pretty much if you’re casual or starting out with a Thief I’d stick with D/P and S/D, but even veterans aren’t given much incentive to try out anything else.

Init management can be a problem at first, but as mentioned it’s by far more forgiving than having cds on attacks.

You don’t need full SA for sustain, especially when running D/P.
P/D does not need full SA either, if you’re geared with Dire/Rabid gear and such.

I think you need at least 3 in acro for Feline grace, when running S/x itself.

A tip, make videos around 5mins long and upload more of them instead of one long one. Much easier to watch and enjoy.

Agree with this, I think people who apparently ‘like’ those long montages, are not genuinely enjoying the entire video. Don’t expect perfect videos, against the most challenging opponents, often you’ll make a mistake, or you don’t capture every good fight you have.

Maybe you worded it wrong or I didn’t understand correctly. Shadow Arts doesn’t increase your power by any way? So when you stop using it, you’ll be able to spec into more offensive lines.

SA thieves are brainless players that can play like idiots and still not be punished for their mistakes. Makes for flat gameplay.

I wouldn’t call them brainless , but lower risk with high reward, more easier for them to get away with mistakes. It does increase power, in terms of might stacks.

The New WvW Borderland

in WvW

Posted by: CrimsonNeonite.1048

CrimsonNeonite.1048

It’s because they almost never listen to what people say, even through constructive means. They usually bring in changes from out of nowhere, which of course some of you will sympathize with. Like while I enjoy Nintendo Consoles and IPs, being different hasn’t always brought success for them.

Too much Terrain and Enviromental hazards isn’t a good thing, it’s just trying to experiment with a formula that may be stale but it works well as it is, despite population/coverage imbalance.

They don’t need to try too hard, to make the wvw experience fresh and to keep it more accessible, experimenting with EoTM is fine, but the Borderlands?

We shouldn’t be beta testing this stuff.

This basically:

That’s largely why I think roaming in EotM never took off. I know it’s funny and “tactical” to knock people off the edge, but ultimately it’s not a very satisfying win. Most people roam for the fun of some good fights, and running around with a LB or Hammer and knocking people off isn’t a good fight. Just look at Skyhammer.. noone liked that kitten because it had nothing really to do with fighting, just knocking people off and spamming an un-blockable un-evadable cannon. That’s not PvP and it’s not actually what people want in the long run.

It’s as good or bad as you make it out to be, then again SFR is pretty much stuck in T1, with not much match variation. For example, you have this trend of WvW/GvG Guilds stacked on the higher Tiers, below that there isnt as much competition left to fight.

Gandara this week is known for roamers, most of the time you can’t roam without
being ganked, by larger more organized groups. That doesn’t mean people should want to join someone like Gandara as they have quantity, like those montages against random bads that some people keep doing – yet they hold themselves in high regard among pvpers.

ppt vs gvg

in WvW

Posted by: CrimsonNeonite.1048

CrimsonNeonite.1048

Competitively WvW hasn’t got much going for it really.
After 2 years PPT is still determined by Coverage, GvG has changed in some ways, but there isn’t any proper supported GvG mode right now.

At the end of the day for the sake of your Community it’s important to have a healthy balance between PPT and GvG guilds, or guilds that contribute to both.

Don’t expect Guilds to spend what time they have to play as a Guild group, trying to fight other Guild Groups, rather than defending or flipping things for the tick.
