Stealth in this game is kinda of a joke, you cant brake stealth with damage or see it if even they are right next to you.
To have good kind of stealth in mmos you need to have good counters and this game have no counter at all…
Another time our server had a thief hiding inside Sm: each time thief appear, it disappear. In almost 15 min after, we found thief and killed it. Stealth take all risk from thief and make it not challenge.
Ok, again, you are right.
I’ve seen that all too often, when people think waving their attacks at thin air works, it’s either that or run around looking for a thief that appears every couple of seconds and his cloaks and daggers off walls and everything else.
I just bring my Thief with plenty of interrupts including scorpion wire if needed, it should catch them by surprise. Necro marks and wells also do alot of damage – AOE melts thieves.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
A server that is full of queues during Prime Time shouldn’t be so easy to transfer to IMO.
Guilds and players should be encouraged to spread out somehow, even if Guilds want to fight certain Guilds, stacking on 2/3 servers is not the right way to do things.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
In Tier 1 EU, you have to pick your fights, mobility/stealth helps alot basically.
I run 6/0/2/0/6 mostly zerker with one Piece of Armor which is Knights, it has alot of CC for any groups I’m running with, although my groups are more random usually.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
S/D should have enough evades to avoid rapid fire and all that, the problem against a clever enough ranger is, even if they are just pew pew without their own Sword/Dagger set, they can knock you back and go invulnerable through Signet of Stone – although I think you can interrupt them before they use the Signet.
By that time they should have Rapid fire available from Cooldown, so you need to have those evades available again if you haven’t already bursted them down.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Because Lootbags > PvD
S/x thieves usually lack Condi cleanse though.
Infiltrators return used to have no cast time and it also used to be a stun breaker, yes S/D can be a strong sets when it follow the meta , but I don’t think any S/P Build is OP by any standards.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don’t think Stealth is OP, it’s such a mechanic that Thieves has multiple entries into stealth, they can disengage and be back to full health out of nowhere – thanks to the Shadow Arts traitline .
It’s also easy to counter, once you’re revealed the Thief is vulnerable, unless you’re specced to be tanky, which means that Thief will have less Burst and DPS, which is counter productive to the strengths that thieves has: Mobilty, Stealth and Burst.
Upon entering stealth Thieves can still be hit by telegraphed attacks such as rapid fire, stealth does not make a Thief invulnerable nor do we gain any Boons from entering stealth, apart from being invisible to the eye, but you can damage a thief or interrupt them before they enter stealth if you know their rotations well enough.

Every Server has it’s own unique Community, that has stayed loyal to their server over the years.
And even though many Guilds transfer in and out – things change, but that culture becomes a part of their Community that stays true to their Community in some form.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Two weeks is far too short notice.
WvW Seasons are a big fail anyway, they don’t make it anymore different to everyday WvW, it doesn’t make it anymore of a balanced Competition.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Server loyalty doesn’t exist in WvW, Guilds/players can simply transfer around as they wish without consequences, apart from Gold/Gems they need to spend to transfer.
People can’t think logically in this game due to Server politics and ego, especially Community – GvG and PPT.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You don’t need Shadow Rejuvenation when running D/P, minimum is 2 in SA for Shadow’s Embrace – the rest is just an added bonus IMO.
I do think Shadow Rejuvenation makes sitting in Stealth too beneficial and promotes a more passive way to play, which you can’t do in pvp at least.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I warned you about Venom Share, might aswell go back to bread and Butter d/p 2/6//0/0/6 or 0/6/2/0/0/6, go Trickery for Boon Steal and Interrupt – and 2 in SA, depending if the thief needs to cleanse condis on his own.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Marmatt = frodo
He’s short and fat?
He doesn’t cook wabbit correctly.
They list up to 7 player roles in their latest post. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/stronghold-the-battle-of-champions-dusk/
Do you even lift bro!?
I didn’t see any good thieves in that video
Exactly, that is lower Tier EU though, doesn’t mean there’s bad players there – there’s bad players everywhere in WvW. Just like certain players running thinking they can run among the Melee Train Blob, who turn out to be rallybots.
I like the visual changes as subtle as it may be, I’m asian though so I might be biased. -.-
Deso probably has had the least loyal guilds over the span of 2 years, who eventually returned to Deso in some capacity.
Player wise the Community here has counted on the PVE side of things – which boosted our Player population, especially when there’s a WvW Tournament going on.
That’s loyalty for you in this game.

I suggest to rethink your team. You need tons of mobility, cc. Venom share d/p thief is a monster in a 5 men team. I also suggest analyze for the engi because there are a lot of thievs/mesmers out of there. For the warrior use something gs/axe-shield and maybe with bola and/or bulls charge. Gua should be medi guard and for the ele i suggest dd cele
If you use up utility slots for Venoms, it would be better to use up those slots up with better utilities, even if it helps to keep you alive – for your own sake.
If you want good burst, DPS, Group Stealth and CC, play 6/0/2/0/6. – Panic Strike/Trickery D/P. All without gimping your survivability, just for a gimmick that works okay in as small groups.
Dueling is good practice to some degree, but they are playing different builds for running solo. You can’t duel or solo roam with venom share, you will get rekt.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You seem to be one of those regular Thief qqers who doesn’t L2P against the class, if you think it’s so easy try rolling one.
Steal can be traited to be a powerful tool to use, but you can avoid and counter it quite easily. #Nerfthief2kinsertyear
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The thing about Executioner is it also adds Damage multiplier to AA, Heartseeker and even Shadow Shot, you don’t need to rely on just backstabs and having to wait for init regen. You can go with Valkyrie gear if you go for hidden Killer, but not all eles and rangers are squishy – not so easy to spike, while relying on backstabs to crit.
I often run Panic Strike and I think it works well, even without such a high crit chance.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I think Executioner is better once you have above 50% and good access to Fury actually.^^
Those trained sharks around the Green keep on EB and Bay are more friendly than the Drakes and Skales (who like to gank you while afk..)
Just been chased by hyenas while afk in PVE :P
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I think most people’s problem with stealth really stems from the shadow arts tree and its ability in modes like wvw to heal to full hp very quickly with 0 counter play to it. This trait really should be changed to something that rewards the thief for smart play rather than sucking, getting bopped and stealthing away to then try to re engage 5 seconds later at full hp. As for spvp people just need to stop complaining about stealth lol :P.
This. SA Thieves are just boring to fight usually. I find Trickery much more engaging, I can’t live without it anymore.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
PVE is way harder with all the POIs and heart quests with all those mobs chasing after you, rather than players in WvW really.
Going through all those PVE maps is more tedious in the end, from the perspective of a WvWer.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
EB is horrible most of the time, 2 years on still. Some guys also have more issues than others on different Borderlands, odd.
Typed on Phone sorry..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It still doesn’t stop whole Guilds or individual players to transfer in I find, even when there are silly 30min long queues during prime time.
So I don’t think they will change anything, unless they actually give players incentive to move to lower pop Servers.
I once spawned on the wrong side as well, luckily it was end of the match.
I concur, it has helped become a more confident person and it’s helped me better focus on my Career and RL, but be careful, I used to command in WvW on my Server alot, I had issues of my own piled on top of everything, that I was sensitive to drama that happened.
I ended up having to take a break from the game – I was also afraid of addiction and of using it as being too much as an escape from real life. I’ve met some amazingly nice people aswell, I wouldn’t call them all close friends though, alot of people has moved about and I’ve met people on other servers, I don’t want to rely on them too much, I enjoy the interaction rather than attention.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
SFR can’t get on their own Blue Borderlands either..
gg anet, dunno how you messed this reset up :p
Duo roaming with an Ele isn’t so bad, nor is with 2 Eles in a trio – apart from if one of them is a noob. They can sustain and still output decent DPS, while the Thief can burst down targets quickly.
I find that Panic Strike and Trickery thanks to the Steal (interrupt, poison, Weakness, boon strip and mug), is a good combo.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’ve never had much use for Blinding Powder ever, I’m used to blast finishing Black Powder, rather than using up a utility slot for which could used by a signet with low CD. The only set id use it for is D/D for the blind really.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Every Tournament apart from the first two were a fail, even then S2 was too long, yet we still had imbalances in some Leagues – over here in the EU. Whatever format brings more problems, because as a Competition it isn’t finely balanced enough between populations.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I actually ran into a few of these Fresh air eles last night, they hit kittening hard.
They used Mist form/Rock barrier (I think) to avoid my burst, but they were pretty easy to burst down – as long as you knew how to avoid their burst.
I didn’t have much sustain being a Trickery Thief, so I have no complaints if I went down fast (which wasn’t the case). :P
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
^^You don’t even need to run full zerk to do good damage, but plenty run full zerk and get away with it, thanks to good mobility and/or stealth.
I once hit this level 80 mesmer for 9k with a backstab w/o full zerk, so running super glassy with a light armor class as mentioned, it happens.

I’ve heard GvG in GW1 was well received, it had depth to it when it came to strategy (not just straight up TDM) and it had a decent competitive scene.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdJM0xsbHhs
It was also very RTS like – just as they seem to envision WvW.
They just haven’t released every piece of info though, watch the video before judging, because its not Pure TDM as people want.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Gvg within wvw dead? Sounds like a proper gvg with rankings in the new pvp map which sounded more like the gw1 style…..
Pretty much, but people enjoyed that mode in GW1 from what I’ve heard, it’s a nice change from Conquest. Hopefully it’s at least 8v8.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
1 new map in 2.5 years. Hopefully it’s at least massive.
Hopefully it’s balanced and brings something fresh to wvw without all the PVE nonsense, like we see in EoTM.
Holding objectives for longer just means the Server with more Coverage will dominate still, unless they actually make WvW Competitive on that side.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Rangers are much more manageable in PvP thanks to smaller maps, close quarter areas, Rangers role in team conquest and lower damage, but overall balance isn’t even that great in terms of wvw as McWolfy mentions – especially when it comes to small scale.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It is when somebody feels the need to build open field siege in equal number fights or ZvZ, doesn’t matter if it’s at their disposal – the point is, when it comes down to that, it should’nt be about how much Siege you use and more about coordinated Team PvP.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I reckon PPK should take priority over bashing wooden Gates over and over, the only problem is ganking and kills by siege – which doesn’t promote much fair play in WvW.
The conquest side of WvW is a failure, as a competitive mode with the PPT as it is, is a failure.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It’s an incredibly good gap closer especially against Rangers, depends if you need Bountiful Theft or Thrill of Crime really.
Still no change to Death blossom which is quite disappointing, so I guess they think DD is enough of a buff to the x/D sets. The nerf to might is a change I’m glad about though, I also hope they can fix the pathing when it comes to shadow stepping – because atm it usually doesn’t even port you to your target..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
80% of the roamers are thieves and mesmers, so i prepair against them. Do you have problem with rangers? Do the same.
Example most of the mesmers bring something but i never ever seen any thief to prepar for anything else but faceroll everybody.
Depends on the match up. Like you may find SFR and Gandara usually have Rangers and Thieves running about instead. Most of them are fairly average, but can pew pew and backstab out of nowhere.
Unfortunately there isn’t much motivation for players to play anything, but the easier to play builds – after all I think most players want to play accessible builds in a casual sense. Long bow rangers with bears appear in droves and Thieves playing D/P or P/D both with full SA, are a pain, aswell as the usual condi spamming.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Variety isn’t a bad thing.
Fighting SFR every other week get’s rather boring after a while – we want to fight other Servers and Guilds now and again, rather than focusing on the Scoreboard, we would like to have a bit of variation.
Population imbalance can’t be helped at this stage of the games lifecycle, it’s always been a problem with stacking and players moving towards more active – higher tier Servers right now, besides before any Tournaments – where they may stack where they are more likely to win the best rewards.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
That would make the map smaller than it usually is, so you’d have to remove the BL bloodlust area and fill it with something that makes better use of the empty space on the map.
EoTM has nothing to do with what happens in WvW.
Basically the servers who are chosen to be Blue/Green/Red are grouped together on EoTM and matched up into the main instance and overflows, depending on if they fill the population cap – without any player cap on any of the sides, on any overflow: http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups/
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You are running Fleet Shadow, so you don’t need Signet of Shadows.
Actually, there are queues on Desolation during prime time – this weekend at least.
So I advise anyone thinking of transferring to look elsewhere, if you play in the EU time zone.
