Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

Eotm and its overflows don’t have balanced sides as it is, I think it is working as intended – with transfers you can’t stop certain servers being over populated compared to others, unless there is incentive for the players to spread out.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
A bit of vitality won’t hurt, especially against Conditions – this also still has enough burst, DPS and sustain thanks to SA and Full CS.
As mentioned you can move on to Trickery, which takes a bit more patience, rather than the more entry level SA builds.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
PPK is good, only problem is it gives gankers an excuse now – whether or not they are doing it for the PPK.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
2/6/6/0/0 CS XII – Hidden Killer, you can go full Valkyrie Armor with Pack runes and Zerker trinkets, but using 2/6/0/0/6 you might want to have a decent balance of Vitality and everything else- I trait for Executioner instead though, so I have run some gear with at least a 50% crit chance.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Has anyone got any QQ about giving away Points by going yolo against groups or players, especially while roaming?
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
SA thieves can reset combat pretty easily really, there isn’t that much you can do apart from use plenty of AOE and CC – or disengage yourself.
It’s OP with certain Trait combinations and sets, but I don’t think it is when running D/P 2/6/0/0/6.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Of course it doesn’t reflect how Stationary scouting actually is, hopefully Anet doesn’t think scouting as though it is an engaging way to play WvW – especially with the trial for removing the white swords, which should not be permanent.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’ve started playing a similar build with S/P, generally it works well with that set, especially with the amount of potential CC you get from Pistol Whip, steal and the immobilizes!
I run with a bit more vitality though – just for those pesky conditions.
Also NA players seem more dopey than EU players in general from all these montages I’ve seen, we have our share of baddies in WvW, but wow.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
T1 EU Roamers need to have good map awareness and mobility, but it isn’t always blobs and Guild Raids really, especially at certain hours of the day
Better than having empty depressing maps – with just a PvD Karma Train hopping around.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You can also defend yourself by timing your evades right, pop-in and out for PW and auto attack chains – utilize Black Powder whenever you need to blind an opponent.
You’ll also need to strip stability and retal, so full Trickery is recommended IMO. It’s probably not the best fighting outnumbered though, unless you trait/gear slightly more tanky, but in groups it does pretty well if you’re careful enough.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
It should be routine for certain groups to run into camps, no? Sentries are another indication of player movement.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
IMO you don’t need White swords to find fights, pretty much if you know the right spots especially on EB and I don’t mean by the orange swords, you will find something to fight even on the Borderlands.
The biggest problem with this change is obvious, scouting is the most boring job in wvw, it shouldn’t be such a chore to play the game mode as it is – there is already a 30s delay upon contesting, so this change just make things even more tedious on the conquest side of things.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
If you’re looking for small scale, it depends on the time of day IMO. This week it’s been pretty low in activity, perhaps because of other games and the holidays, there is also a difference between roamers looking for fights and players just in the general vicinity really.
And I also don’t think there’s such thing as Solo roaming these days, often there are groups rather than other solo roamers – so you might have to merge with other players if you want to avoid getting ganked by them.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Prime time is usually when Guilds raid, so avoid that if you want to, try playing before or after if you want to avoid the large groups – besides the usual night zergs.
SLAY moved to FSP recently anyway.
They will get bored eventually , only those who want to fight players usually stick around near spawn, because fighting doors or pressing #1 or #2 on siege when they’re dominating is just sad, they could go do something else better with their time.
SFR once did this against Deso on some nights and we actually pushed them back once the rest got bored, fun times.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don’t think anything is due until after November.
5. Opponents playing squishy builds, which you have to wonder about, but it happens.
At this stage I wonder if Anet can ever make this ‘Competition’ balanced, so one-sided match-ups are to be expected anyway, just like EoTM usually being dominated by green/Overgrowth.
They might aswell make Match-Up diversity more of a regularity and people should ignore the Score/Objectives, as the sole reason to whether they should hop into WvW or not – which leaves Empty maps with nothing to fight but Doors, NPCs and Raptors, Polar Bears etc.
It might be good for roamers without Zergs running about, but it also means it’s depressingly quiet for a conquest/pvp zone.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
There have been queues this week FYI, it depends how which Guilds are raiding and if there’s any Open Raids, past that obviously Deso has more numbers than everyone else, probably due to many Fairweathers tired of SFR rather than giving it a fight. (just look at Season 3).
I think even people here are bored.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Nobody really ‘cares’ about the PPT/Coverage Wars these days other than when the MU suits them, rather than feeling obligated to.
There was little to no hype for S3 for most who played during the previous Seasons anyway. It doesn’t give the PPT any more purpose than usual as a community to take it as serious competition as a Goal, rather than have you know, have fun having large – small scale fights, in the end trying to focus on a imbalanced competition is like groundhog day, lacking much variety and not unlike EoTM at certain hours.
I know WvW is not all about PvP, but since it supposedly is tied to Communities and the main idea behind WvW as a competition, is pointless and boring without incentive, challenge and Competition.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
To be honest, you can’t expect most Guilds to move at this point of the games lifespan, just because players are stacking on a single Server, as most of the top Guilds left are in among Top Tiers now. Otherwise variety is good, only if people stop thinking WvW as a balanced Competition – to focus on the fights instead, for the WvW scene for Guilds will at least strive and stay active in terms of Competitiveness, to a certain extent, it needs to happen.
I don’t know how many gems it costs, but can’t they just increase the cost of transfer manually and reduce the cost to transfer to Servers who need the player boost?
The cost > Population isn’t even accurate anymore, thanks to Megaservers, Server Pride is like having two cats in some ways..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
People might believe these CDIs are beneficial to the community and that you take our input seriously, by bringing the changes that make sense into action, not ideas like removing White swords which we have not suggested.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You know, it actually reads as though he could be on a server from Deutschland.
To the guy who mentioned Ruin, you have to realize that no one really liked them in the end, even I joined and left them after 1 minute.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Sadly the Higher Tiers in the EU aren’t even close to being competitive anymore, the game is bleeding players so the average pug would rather play the new PVE content than WvW. WvW still get’s neglected besides some minor changes and ones that do not benefit WvW like EoTM apart alleviating the ‘queue’ problem, the only problem it has become a more lucrative alternative to WvW.
So until Anet fixes the problem with PPT and coverage it’s pointless, don’t take the competition too seriously. WvW is an imbalanced Competition anyway.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
WvW competitive, really? Have I gone back in time?
You’re better off hopping into EoTM as an uplevel, unless people know who you are.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
So other than that silver league has lost a lot of guilds and players; so has gold even, but then most if not all the top guilds left are in Gold – which is what players used to say about Gold being too blobby last year.
So what difference does it make if there are more streamers though, wouldn’t there be more of a chance of fighting skilled players on more populated servers? It’s not like we are lacking small scale here and there are plenty of GvG guilds, or even skilled pvpers that don’t just ‘zerg’. The same goes for Youtubers really, no matter how many likes or subs it doesn’t make individuals/groups more skilled compared to others, no matter the Tier or Server they play on.
Also think about the community you want to be a part of, in whatever capacity you have to get on with some people.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Abuse, trolling, bad sportmanship and all that, it happens enough in WvW even through blocked whisper lists.
I just hopped into pvp match just now and the qq was pretty bad itself. -.-
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don’t even think in WvW you have to rely on full SA and Shadow Rejuvenation anyway, it’s just that it synergizes so well with D/P apart from being pretty much useless in pvp Conquest, so most Thieves trait fully into the traitline. There’s almost no point in trying to play any other way for the average Thief playerbase – just like S/D 2/0/0/6/6.
Trickery works extremely well in actual fact – which is based around getting the best out of Steal, it’s far from OP due to the lack of sustain, but you can still survive most situations with good awareness and positioning.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I can actually find some good fights here and there, like against JS and SFR this week after Prime Time which is the time that most Guilds Raid, but alot of the time there are just groups ganking in T1, even on Desolation’s behalf.
Of course you can’t expect a fair fight apart even in a Duel you can face a baf matchup, but it’s probably more preferable for solo’ers; if you can’t find any enough people to tag along with.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I wish deso had some other enemies except Sfr and Kodash
Be careful what you wish for.
This change would be right up there with allowing Siege to be sold on the TP and Golem mastery.
I’m not sure how PPK will benefit the group that’s outnumbered on a map really, it’ll just make things worse such as blobbing and ganking, which’ll mean more people avoiding certain fights rather than risk giving away easy points.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You need a high crit chance for backstab to crit.
Outside of the regular WvWers, the rest of Desolation population showed up on reset and odd days, so the tournament was just a waste of time really.
I don’t see the point in anymore Tournaments with the state of WvW at the moment.
Hopefully with Anet showing some intent listen to us, we’ll see the changes we want made to WvW sooner rather than later. For many this is our end-game content that is lacking anything apart from silly things like Tournaments, masteries and Siege disablers, cosmetic changes that are just there as add-ons, rather than wholesale changes.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Willie wonka tickets? I have no idea how placement matters apart from that dolyak statue that appears.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You can still run out of init fast running infusion of shadows or trickery, the latter without the extra second of stealth, cleanse and regen.
I use withdraw, IS and shadow refuge when playing S/P, so this kind of change would make that set less viable.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Swiss style doesn’t work well at all.
Shadow Rejuvenation doesn’t show up as regen as far as I’m aware, nor does it heal anyone else but yourself.
This is the trait that you are thinking of : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadow_Protector
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don’t think people understand how uncompetitive S3 or even these Tournaments are in no matter what format, besides perhaps S1 when these WvW Seasons were new.
Just being stuck with the same MUs is not fun and PPT gets stale, whilst populations are so tipped in the balanced on two T1 servers, yet the 2nd ranked cannot compete against 1st.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The Issue with PPT/Stomps is that apart from it being open to manipulation, usually the Server with the better Guilds or even numbers would rack up the points, at least keeping it exclusive to bloodlust prevents this somewhat.
I’ve read the above suggestion to scale Points to Structure ugprades, but that wouldn’t stop zergs from PvDing things over and over with one big Border hopping group.
The only way of breaking that culture is introducing some kind of cap or limit to the amount of players that hop or lessen the reward.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don’t know why people look at it from a 1v1 perspective, as if the game is supposed to be balanced that way, seeing that some specs and professions are soft or hard counters against each other. Trickery is perfectly viable with whatever combination of 2 traits which you use in DA/SA/Acr.
Full SA synergizes with D/P, but it does carry the player alot. Also I find the last change to Black Powder is quite a nerf, not just the change to FS/LS for the S/D set..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
At least two guilds moved to Gandara recently for the chance to fight some of the best wvw guilds that are left, at least I would like to think so.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You have Stealth linked to Shadow Arts or Evades through Acrobatics, but even then the latter isn’t quite up to scratch with what you can get from SA in terms of sustain..
In WvW it allows stat combinations such as mixed Valkyrie and Zerker Gear, which enables you do still have decent burst and a respectable health pool.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Do you intend to play D/P with a group or as Solo? I think D/P Trickery works perfectly fine in a group, the interrupt on steal, fury and, or Boon strip especially is still decent trade off from having a lack of sustainability.
1v1 is another story and even then you’ll need to rethink against certain specs, I still have to get some practice and theorycraft a bit more if Trickery is viable or not in that scale.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Maybe you’re right, but I think they can be one of the most boring fights you can find, especially against dire/rabid/carrion mix P/D thieves that are traited into SA and, or Acro.
I’ve run into some guys who also use D/P to disengage as their alternate set, very annoying..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Best part of the video is how you consistently land FS
Which was claimed to be “impossible to land”
Seems like S/D is not dead
Against players who know how to counter, you can imagine being stuck evading instead of proccing LS; which is very likely these days.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I dunno, it’s been funny reading some stuff here like how D/P is hard to counter, but I don’t think it can keep up with all the Condition ticks and applications, you’ll have to keep disengaging even with SA to ‘out-tank’ good opponents, which is a shame really.
I was thinking of hybrid myself , but I don’t think I like the idea of playing with less burst damage, to compensate for decent Condition damage/duration.
