As I thought, this week is already irrelevant as it is and people are just try harding.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
If you roam, try using RFI and Trickster, it might help with your problem with low init, it’s also a condi cleanse vs those nasty condi builds and .
Acro is fine in terms of mobility at least and swiftness uptime with Pack Runes, I don’t think in terms of survivability it’s as good as it used to be, nevermind DPS wise, but otherwise D/P is the best utility set in pvp/wvw.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’m not sure adding an additional days wait to reset, will make any positive difference to the current duration of MUs. It will feel like you a longer wait for the MU to end.
If anything it could be shorter and end sooner.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I was lagging badly on Home Border, even with fights between guilds, it kept stuttering like mad, same for some others.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Tried it out in WvW, seems alright, decent heals, switched between Staff and LB and mixed Zerker and celestial for DPS, doubt clerics will be viable or needed as it is due to lack of DPS, I couldn’t find zealots available at least as far as I know.
I just didn’t have enough time to try it fully though and theorycraft , it does seem quite polished in terms of what role they want Druid to be at least, unlike DareDevil which seems, to be nothing that new.
@Aiden read it, I don’t agree that druids should be forced to use healing power primary gear, other classes can get away with it fine.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
They mentioned that they were looking into solutions after HoT.
Healing power isn’t all that worth it, Eles don’t even run Clerics or anything with healing power as it is. Nevermind those videos w/ anyone running clerics or something ridiculously tank, which hits like a noodle, but out sustain zerker in 1v1.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
DD is how I expected it to be, like Acro, but with offensive/defensive traits (Acro’s Regen traits are pretty useless right now), it has a decent balance I think.
At least by far Bound is my favourite new evade, the only problem is that it seems too similar to Vault right now, rest like Dash; which seems to be good for changing direction and keeping distance, seems a bit off for me, as evades they don’t feel as fluid as normal evades; a toggle would be nice.
Staff seems much more fluid, but atm I’m not sure I’d take this over most of our other sets, even though it does seem to have high mobility, it doesn’t feel quite as fluid and it lacks the same amount of utilities as offhand pistol (which it works well with I feel), even with dust strike #4.
I really like the feel of channeled vigor with it’s low CD and endurance regen (traited for lower cd and 10 endurance), the cast time should be a little shorter though, at least I find it viable once i could create distance to give me a window to cast the skill, it’s at least better than HiS, which probably could do with lower CD itself.

It doesn’t mean it’s fair, when populations are imbalanced; there is no competition to take seriously (like many on Deso believe now), you are suggesting because it suits one party it’s fine, that is anti-competition. I generally don’t care anymore, as suggested you shouldn’t too, they will qq @ people who are fights and complain about us GvGing rather than PPTing, even though large scale fights are a feature in WvW.
It’s as though people believe PPT is any fun or has any purpose anymore, but they hold on to Server Pride, which I guess is true for Servers who don’t have continous streams of bandwagoners and fairweathers.
T1/T2 NA seems more balanced from what I’ve read, the EU side is a mess for whatever reason, maybe NA takes the PPT Competition more seriously and has more balanced populations in some cases, but things like Kodash being Full is a joke.
Oh and I agree, transfers need more restrictions, less freedom to simply move to the top stacked servers; if they’re open and we need more dynamic (and accurate) population calculations.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Acro needed more than a vigor buff, guarded initiation is still thrash and so is Upper hand as a GM trait. I don’t know if anyone takes vigorous recovery over pain response; which IMO needs to be more reliable.
The longer duration switfness is nice though, makes things much more fluid, but what’s the point point in traiting for fleet shadow anymore, if you even use it?
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
At this point, maybe they should just have open/closed transfer periods to appropriate servers idk, the window to bandwagon is just too long..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Generally, I’d go for a mix of Valk/Zerker armor, Pack Runess, Zerker/Assassins Weapons and Zerker/Soldiers/Cavalier trinkets, depending on what you think you need and DA/SA/Tr, just because alot of roamers are condi roamers.
Don’t go by what YouTubers do though (many are just highlight reels vs wvw pugs), just try see what works best for yourself.
I don’t think Thief builds are that diverse.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I think I’d be happy if I see in the full patch notes, that they’ve actually given Withdraw than extra 10% heal, which was supposed to happen.
Most acro traits need a rework, 7s Vigor from Vigorous recovery makes little difference, kitten is almost enough to refill one bar, right now there is only one GM trait that’s even GM worthy. There is less damage mitigation for the loss of vitality stat, since they released the new trait system.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The airship things seems such a bad idea, it’s already hard to take a T3 SM as it is.
They said they were going to fix the coverage/night capping issue eventually, the
problem is they are just making WvW a gimmick mode, rather than competitive, if they add more of these things. Keep EB free of gimmicks.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Thieves aren’t as invisible AND invincible as you think, we don’t have ‘spammable’ evades anymore, unless you mean Daredevil; as that’ll be like the old Acro traitline.
So our survivability relies on Shadow Arts (if you trait for it), mobility and skill.
I do think it’s tougher to kill a mesmer these days though (they are med hp). In terms of WvW/PvP, I do think once they remove applied fortitude from wvw, a higher healthpool would help more squishy classes.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Ok, lag has nothing to do with this experiments, are you guys kittening kittened o wat? Blame you ISP for any lag you guys are getting unless is something every single person on the server is experiencing.
It doesn’t make a difference if it’s every single person experiencing it, sometimes you see people dcing and others are fine. I don’t know if it’s due to routing or connection to the server, but it definitely happens.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Definitely felt the spikes earlier tonight, 4000ms ping or so apparently and I didn’t lag out. (I run qos fyi >_<)
Tournaments would be pointless right now, artificial increases to populations that are inactive right now, while many are waiting and hoping HoT will be different.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Well, compared to PvP in WvW, I definitely feel the lack of HP at least.
I wish you could combine Gear, to have as much Vitality as Marauders amulet in PvP gives; with the balance of stats I need, but perhaps I need to try theorycrafting a little.
This is without WvW guard stacks; which they’ll be removing before HoT, or once that’s out.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don’t see them changing much from the Acro line, it’s like DD is a much better version of it; minus the new evade animations.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
There’s still no incentive for players to transfer, or even start on lower ranked servers, that’s the problem. Nobody really seems to care much, about making WvW competitvely balanced anyway.
If that happened, we would have MU variation along with balanced MUs, rather than silly stagnation and boredom, from fighting the same servers for weeks and weeks.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
WvW isn’t supposed to be fair, nor is it balanced, or even have structured fights, still in sPvP you’ll find uneven fights against things you cannot 1v1.
So I don’t know, in most situations there are better fights in PvP, even when people are fighting over capping points.
When I see many of these solo roaming videos, I wouldn’t even want to fight some of these guys in sPVP (bunkers), running high regen builds, tanky as heck with lots of mobility, nevermind the condition heavy specs and over the top zerker damage.
The unknown is just engaging to play against, which is what people play for, I guess.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Roaming is still fun now and again.
I never have roamed with an organized group, nor am I one of those Solo roaming ‘heroes’ with ‘OP’ builds, but I find Raiding/GvG much more enjoyable and balanced atm.
I would PvP more if I wanted to, even if you have those D/D cele eles dominating and all that lack of balancing on Anets behalf, plus you get rewarded for it.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Nobody respectful runs venom share on the EU side at least.
Every class is welcome, it’s just that in blob warfare GWEN is far more efficient and so gank squads aren’t really needed.
I don;t know what you’ve done this past week, but my ping and rubberbanding this week has gotten so bad, it’s even worse than way back in the times I started playing those First Person shooters, back in the early 00s and then as I moved to broadband; when it became more mainstream.
It isn’t down to traceroutes, the lag from this afternoon disappeared from 11pm BST tonight and I started pinging below 100ms.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
In all seriousness the Population algorithm is a joke still.
Dc’d a few times and had quite a bit of rubberbanding tonight.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Oh please, what do you expect Guilds to play for nowadays?
PPT is pointless as it is, it really isn’t a proper balanced competition with much of a reward, but server pride which is much more to it than PPT, the other problem is there is little point to having much Server pride.
Just ignore those who spam map chat, both PPTers and GvGers can ruin your experience; by qqing about meaningless stuff, just enjoy the game how you want, in your own time.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
You aren’t supposed to be able to fight and beat good players outnumbered, especially if you’re up against players who know what they’re doing; with classes that counter your build/class, either in PvP or WvW.
It is a team/group game, at the end of the day.
Also most video montages are misleading, you’d think this game was based around 1v1 by the sheer amount of videos people make about dueling, people want to watch that, but they don’t understand the mechanics of the game are around team pvp and what makes you an all round good player.
You see organized group roamers in parties, wiping disorganized pug groups easily, because these players make mistakes themselves and so they can’t see if anyone needs support or who to focus target on, one good player can’t carry a group either.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Generally you shouldn’t be interrupted, or interrupt in the OS, otherwise it’s up in the air.
The Dash animation as been mentioned, has way too much of a casting animation delay, it takes getting used to, while still being unreliable right now.
I think due to the animation problems in the GM line, I still prefer using Acro, even though people have complaints about all the Acro nerfs, while acro needs more reliable Adept and Master (especially) traits like DareDevil.
DD elite is also lacking compared to pre-casting Basilisk under stealth for a burst, so I don’t see why people would take that instead of the norm either, but I like Channeled vigor enough to use it.
The Staff just doesn’t feel right right now either, it’s lacking in terms of melee and in range, lacking gap closers, fluidity and much range with it’s current skillset.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Thieves stealth compared to Mesmer is counterable enough though.
I’ve run into one trapper thief, who was just a troll.
If you play D/P, obviously you can get blinded, but they have to leap finish or blast the smoke field to enter stealth, otherwise Refuge is so easy to spot aswell, Mesmers have much more ‘simpler’ access to stealth.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The last event was just a ill advised mistake, that lasted for too long a duration and it just became something that people exploited, as they didn’t bother fixing an exploit.
If anything, they should try mixing up PPT, have PPK weeks and other changes to how you can gain Points.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I would guess most Servers would say they are friendly and all that, have public tags, organized community TS, that they’re open to different players play-styles and Guilds etc.
You probably won’t be able to truly tell what server suits you, unless you have friends or have a 2nd account to try it out, better to experience things first hand to see if it’s to your standards.
That site mainly shows that other servers don’t like each other that much, otherwise IMO it’s pretty quiet on the EU side.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
And while populations are not dynamic, servers can become pretty stacked or have the wrong population count, until it updates.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
From what I’ve witnessed, I’ve seen decent enough thieves while roaming around, especially mechanically, compared to the ones that are still making videos regularly.
Streams without all the editing might be better, as reference.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Deso moved to http://www.iron-gaming.com/desoforums recently after a bit of dramalation.
I guess it has nothing to do with PPT/Coverage, since Desolation was “Very Full” last night, even FSP seems more active otherwise, just not when it comes to PPT.
Acro should at least have better condi removal and heal (Pain Response, Guarded initiation and Assassins Reward), even though it is mostly an active defensive traitline, it still pales in comparison to Shadow Arts; considering that has Shadow’s embrace and Rejuvenation, which are far more reliable.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Most Guilds on desolation are on a break or even disbanded, that’s why there’s little to no queues atm. I do not think T1-3 EU is even that active anymore.
Should they open up transfers right now?
I don’t think so, unless Deso had less players around PPTing (PvDooring @night), you might not even see it dropping in Population status, because there is probably players taking up slots right now; that are inactive.
Thankfully the restriction is there to stop bandwagoners.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I don’t know how they can accurately calculate population at different times of the day, rather than just players registered at any time of day the day, clearly FSP had players transferring out or something. Servers have coverage gaps, where there are less players that just leads to them being steamrolled in terms of PPT, maybe Anet will change things before HoT or after though, otherwise PPT is a poor Score Mechanic, that needs to change.
Outside of that if there’s no queues during prime time, that’s also an issue for other servers, because there’s less to fight.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The lag has gotten worse and worse in the past few weeks, even 2-way fights on EB causes map wide lag..
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I had more fun fighting a condi engi the other night, more than running into people who just gank. Much better fights are ones that go on for a while, it’s also good practise, the problem is damage all around is crazy now, especially burning.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
That’s how it is on Deso, apart from commanders appearing now and again and a guild night capping, feels quite ‘dead’ on T1.
Had enough of PPT, as it’s all PvD and coverage still; just like it was 3 years ago now, yet people still swear by WvW competitively that way, because there’s nothing else for them to do. Even worse when they still PPT, only for more weeks boring SFR MUs.
I dislike the lag and profession balance when it comes to Roaming at least.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’m from the EU playing on Desolation, I had some weird rubberbanding and checked my ping, it spiked @ around 300ms at times and I really did feel it.
Other times, especially in big EB fights, afaik my in-game ping is around 100 or so.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Shino went rogue? joking.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
The thing is also, all I’ve seen most of these groups do in reality is gank, compared to what you see in their videos.
Dueling is not roaming either, it is entirely different to roaming as a group (with random group or with an organized group), the ‘best’ organized fights you’ll get is from GvG/Raiding.
I don’t think there is anything different to roaming, that we haven’t seen in the past 2/3 years, the only thing is slight change in builds/metas, especially the condi meta now.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
Overgrown grub > Broski > all
Really, most of them are just popular groups/individuals; whom also regularly comment/like each other’s content, they make highlights of their best moments rather than bad, which draws in viewers. One of my former Guilidies was apparently quite popular, but he didn’t really spend much time Raiding/interacting with the guild.
Some have good editing skills aswell, but generally balance in WvW isn’t great; which shows in small scale. The general population of pvpers in wvw are also mainly casual and many use zerg builds, so roamers don’t usually end up fighting other roamers, like Guilds when they fight disorganized pugs groups.
(edited by CrimsonNeonite.1048)
I’d like to see meaningful changes to Guarded initiation and Upper hand really, the latter I don’t think is useful with the current 3s cd. Master and GM traits are a bit mediocre really, besides HtC.
