Stop trying to act like some silly one man army freedom fighter. This is just a hiccup in the system and there is a simple fix. Ranting and raving just to get attention is not gonna fix the problem.

Add this line at the bottom:
174.35.56.164 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com

Save the file. If Notepad prompts you to save as a new file, you need to start over and run Notepad as administrator.

If you have the GW2 launcher already open, restart it. If this still doesn’t help, you may need to change the address above and try a different number (e.g. assetcdn.102.etc..).

You may want to remove this line later when (if?) they resolve the networking issue.

Just right click notepad and choose run as administrator. Then add

(don’t forget to make notepad show * files and not just .txt)

In Maryland with FIOS, and GW2 update is grinding down to 0.0 KB/s. It simply will not download. Really suck. Is this a Verizon issue only?

I also had the same problem, Verizon customer( northeast US). I sent a support ticket in and it was suggested that I delete my GW2 local.dat file and restart the launcher. This did work for me, however it did stop at 99% again. I walked away and it finished the last 1% about 30-40 minutes later.

I’d like you to first locate and delete your local.dat file which is located in your C:\Users*Your Username*\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2 folder. Once this is done, reboot your computer and launch Guild Wars 2 again. after seeing the 1 file remaining message, a secondary protocol should kick in to download the file from the backup system, usually takes about 10 minutes.

So I would wait about 15 minutes or so, and let us know if it does not complete the download.

If this does not resolve the issue I would like you to change the language for the launcher (top right corner) to French to see if the download completes. You can change it back to English once it does and you should be able to play.

If either of these suggestions has an effect on the issue please let us know.

This did not fix the problem

I’m getting the same issue as well. My patch the other day went well, and I just logged off less than an hour ago. Tried to get back on and go the same thing. I managed to get to 1055 kb before it stopped. I also have Verizon FiOs in Maryland and this has never been an issue.

Update: While typing this, seems it went up by 44 kb, has stopped again.

There’s basically three camps of people out there:

1) People who “play how they want”. They usually run extremely random, disorganized builds (“I’m a dual pistol minion master thief”) and generally aren’t in the dungeon to “win” or even to complete it. Most are just there for the “experience” and are likely first-timers or RPers.

I don’t know where you got this information, but as an RPer in all RP guilds, most, if not all, of our members have vast knowledge of the builds and stats and know how to play them.

I’m an RPer and run an apothecary build for engi. People call me useless at the start of the dungeons but when I’m sitting there not only doing as much damage as they are, but also keeping their kitten s alive, respect gained.

Let’s look at it like this:

Two major games (or one major and one half-baked piece of crap I regret buying in the first place game) and one upcoming release game have announced they are introducing Guild Housing AND Player housing.

1) World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor: They have announced Garrisons on Draenor, where you can build up your own town and have NPC’s craft and run for mats for you, as well as make it a great place for Roleplaying and Guild meetings.

2) Old Republic: While I’m just waiting for this game to eventually die as it is just a vain attempt at creating a new Star Wars Galaxies, they are introducing player housing on all the capital worlds, Nar Shadaa, and now Tattooine. They have also announced guild capital warships and a system where guilds can conquer a system.

3) Wildstar: They have player housing much similar to how WoW is putting out garrisons, your own plot where you can create crafting spots and portals to other regions and dungeons. However, what I see with wildstar’s player housing that is superior to WoW’s is that there is a massive amount of customization on the grand scale of Star Wars Galaxies’ housing.

With these companies taking steps towards player/guild housing, and with the Guild Wars franchise having a history with guild halls, I doubt we will “never” see guild halls. Just give it time, keep speaking up on the matter and we will eventually get something from the Reds.

This is ridiculous. Trying to RP, but apparently emotes that people type out don’t get blocked, even if the person who made them is on the list. Why was this overlooked?

On top of it, the RPer’s are getting suppressed from chat while those who emote spam don’t.

I’ve managed to cope with this issue by making a tab specifically for RP, having only Say, Emote, Party, and Squad active.

And for those spammers, since I’m in Rata Sum, they are almost always at the banker area, so they are easy to find and report.

So take the Blizzard route and make armor tokens.

I like it, and also don’t. In a way, it helps you get that piece of gear you really want. However, WoW has the system in order to gear you up for end game content. Tequatl IS end game content. Another negative is that its making it easier for one to get that rare, sought after piece of gear, which takes out of the intensity of the fight.

I just got off the WoW GD forum to see this?

Have an engineer in your party with Experimental Turrets in their traits, then have him drop his flame turret and then supply drop. The trait gives 3 stacks of might for each flame turret, and it stacks when the cooldown finishes, so going 6 >12> 18 > etc.

Then just have a warrior spamming might and you’re good to go.

Asura Krewe RP is pretty active and I’m already in three active RP guilds.

Guilds like GA, FMD, ASP, INQ, PCRS, we all get by and usually just block any trolls who try to mess with us. Takes hard skin to be an rper and to filter out the trolling.

While RP isn’t dead, its still very active and even if we don’t get our own server, we will adapt. What needs to change is this:

1) Able to block players via emotes
2) Block/Ignore feature to block both CHAT and EMOTES
3) The ability to report people who spam emotes and do not use the chat in a way to hide themselves (trust me, I hunt them down, and I will find you.)
4) More report option, we have verbal abuse but trolls know this and have their ways of bypassing it. We need a proper report feature for “harassment.”
5) An ingame ticket system. Why does it feel like this is the only MMO from a large company that doesn’t have an ingame ticket system? Come on, World of Warcraft and Old Republic have them, whats the problem Anet?

Because of the team’s focus on game development, they are not able to dedicate as much time out of their workday to posting on the forums. Why has Anet seemingly decided that chasing potential players in China is worth turning off your current players by essentially going silent in terms of non customer service related posts? Your players are dying for information, and coming here, and saying, YET AGAIN (this was a constant theme in season 1), that you can’t tell us anything, but it’s going to be super awesome, doesn’t help. We feel like we’re talking into a black hole, and the company just doesn’t care about it’s current fanbase, because it seems millions of players in china. What are you going to do to counteract this feeling?

The one thing I don’t think you understand is that China is almost 100% PC gaming. Only a few months ago was a law banning console games just lifted after being in effect for 15 years. Chinese gamers have had nothing but PC games.

China is a bigger PC market than the US AND Korea, so yes, to sell GW2 in China is like a MASSIVE gold mine.

Again I emphasize they should have two separate teams, not one.

That is true, but as soon as the Chinese version is out, this means more money being brought into the company, allowing for more employees to be hired and new concepts being funded for.

I’m quite torn actually. On one hand, I’m glad to see so much activity. There are always people there to do the random events.

However, as an RPer, and I know other RPer’s would agree, we’ve become even more of a prime target for the PvP/PvE exclusive tryhards being trolls just because we play the game differently.

Instead, imo, there should have been three servers, one for each playstyle. RP, PvE, and PvP

So I’ve started playing GW2 again and decided to roll a second engineer. Five days now and I’m at level 76, gonna hit 80 tonight. Now for this character, unlike my turret/firearm engi I made back at release, I wanted to try something different and go medic engi. However, I am oblivious to the current metas and what would be best for what at the moment so I’ll come to you guys.

What is a good build for a medic engi? I’m talking weapon stat specifications, upgrades, builds (like pistol/shield or rifle, currently a fan of the pistol shield,) and traits.

Its not true. With megaservers, TC doesn’t exist except in wvw. If you try to RP with anyone trolls will come to you in an instant and try to stop you and your friends. The mega sever separates everyone, and its impossible to get on the same map as your fellow RPers.

This. TC and all other servers (outside of WvW) have ceased to exist except in name.

That’s only remotely true. 90% of the time, I see the same names in /map and /local chat since DR changed to mega server. I see more RPers now outside Salma gate than I did pre-patch. The only places that I regularly don’t see TCers is in places that used to have no one: Mount Maelstrom, Snowden Drifts, etc.

I wouldn’t say that Megaserger has had no impact on RPing or on Coasters building a community, but it’s relatively minor in my experience. The community is still (mostly) fantastic (we do have our trolls and disgruntled players, but much fewer than when I’m guesting to other servers, even post patch).

tl;dr if you are just starting the game, I would strongly recommend signing up for TC as your home world, and especially recommend it if you RP.

Oh no, I’m an old vet, starting back during the very first day of launch. Was a native to Yak’s bend for two weeks before permenantly switching to Tarnished Coast.

Hopefully I can find a good community, looking into starting anew, retiring my Norn to make an Asura Engineer with my fiancé (also a bit of an RPer.) I’ve got plenty enough RP experience in my years to start up a guild if I have to.

Edit: So wait, I remember homeworlds and stuff back when I started, are they still here and its just an option to join the Megaserver?

What about the RP guilds? Certainly those still exist.

I’m an avid RPer when I started playing (and still am) and remembered Tarnished Coast being the designated RP server. Does anyone know if this is still true, or has the majority of the RP community migrated elsewhere?

Use my rifle, and I do just fine in PvE. WvW, I do jsut fine as well.

T3 medium norn armor is Eirs armor you know the hero from our land…if you think thats not how a norn should look you probably don’t know what a norn should look like. IE did you watch all trailers and go wow they really dressed Eir wrong thats not how a norn looks…

that’s the female armor. I’m talking about the male armor, except for the fact that Romke wears it, thats the only thing. The Tier 2 is, imo, superior in the look.

…looks like crap. Honestly the only thing it’s worth is the stats, if I ever bother buying it. Even if I do, I’m just gonna transmute my tier 2 medium armor into it. Doesn’t even look like Norn armor.

Now that tier 2, thats how a Norn should look. Even as an engineer that armor looks bloody epic.

Its a great weapon kit, and I actually use it a lot underwater. I mean:

The glue shot is great for pvp and WvW for catching weak stragglers.

The green gas of death is honestly my favorite.

Skill 4 has escape potential if it had a longer jump range, but other than that, its not that good of a skill.

Healing Elixer is the best of all the skills and when you are at the door, that is your allies’ best friend.

Would I make it my primary kit, no, that spot is reserved for my flamethrower, which is ten times more viable.

Chose to Protect the Mists and to reclaim artifact I lost in a bet, now that one was a bit hard, but then again, I sortof rushed it and tried to do it when I was 6 levels underlevel

There is nothing more terrifying than the sight of 5 norns in bear form charging with their charrge/flip (key 5) skill in WvW with an army behind them.

Only on tarnished coast server though xD

I don’t think they are that bad, they are great for using in quests, and personally I like the wolf form, especially with that Warwick heal attack on key 2.

Why are people using grenade kit underwater over mines? Mines are much more viable imo.

The only thing I really hate is that we only have 1 melee weapon/capability.

Sure, the wrench is awsome, even though it doesn’t repair your turrets fast enough. I mean, come on, I have the most beautiful looking norn hammer in my bank and I just want to smash someones face with it.

Then again, putting down a net turret, rifle turret, and a missile turret, then going into bear form sort of makes up for it.

My issue with the BLTP is still been going on for over a month now, I’m still gettign that grey screen for everything except for the last tab in the Auction house.

This is seriously getting really annoying, I can’t make any money if I can’t sell it.
