Fractal Reward Track

in PvP

YourFriendMarvin.4127

And if fractal track is introduced, how is it fair for players like myself who grind many hours and gold just for fractal settings, only to be ousted by those who play pvp and receive the similar reward? Furthermore, the already existing animosity on PvP players hating PvE players will only grow more because now they have a chance to get fractal skins.

Also how will someone justify fractal track=difficulty of fractal? The mistlock ability is already too complex of a mechanic to be put in to pvp, and simply repeating track does not properly follow mistlock difficulties that other fractal runners had to go through. In short, there is no way pvp fractal track can properly reflect the difficulty of pve contents. And before you laugh at “elite pve” players, go win a tournament and actually receive something worthwhile if you are that skilled. PvE players have already proven themselves (those in speed running guilds) through and through with their record runs and guides to helping people, while pvp community generally whined and complained about lack of support/new players when in fact it demeans any newcomers.[/quote]

I do Fractal 50’s on my Engineer everyday, and yeah it can be frustrating with Pugs, but with common sense and mechanical skill it’s not too difficult and same with sPvP conquest rotations. As for making the track, make it similar to Fractal, make w/e you get at the end of the Fractal Track the same RNG as how you would get in a Normal Fractal. Sure RNG isn’t the way to go, but thats only fair to Fractal Players. Doing a Normal Track compared to Fractal Run is longer depending if your Fractal Pug is bad or quality of players.

I never laughed at PvE players, I respect what they do in their speed runs and stuff, but anyone can learn that, and same with sPvP rotations in Conquest. The difference is that PvE you’re playing against AI, and not REAL people. Why should sPvP be rewarded less for mechanical skill and strategy against players and not AI. sPvP guides are out to help new players, but not everyone reads the forums. We have no in-game tips for how Conquest rotations, Positioning, roles. People in PvE whine too, not just sPvP. Like I said winning a tournament gives only to top players and not casuals. That’s not even all our rewards, and the player base is still too low. Sure PvE takes some sort of similar skill like, but to be honest sPvP takes more thought. I do all aspects and this is from my opinion. PvE isn’t difficult as long as you have people who know what they’re doing. In PvP same thing, but against people of similar skill you need to think because they’re real players that you can’t just stack AoE like mobs, and hoping to kill them.

I don’t mind a Fractal Track, but just make it so the RNG at the end of the track is the same as Fractal Players. If they were to make it so that you get a skin on x/x amount of tiers then they would have to guarantee skins/rings on Fractal Completion as well to make it fair. Then again it’s not on our end, i’ts A-net. People complain on all aspects of the game.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Fractals PvP track, especially if it awarded a Fractal Skin Box at the end, but I agree that, if this were done, then PvE players also need the ability to turn in Pristine Relics (or some other tokens) for the skin of their choice.

In low populated overflows, this thing should either despawn after a time, or not spawn at all. Try to fight it? Die unless you have at least a mini zerg present. Try to run? Depending on the skills of your profession and which spot of the zone you’re in, you probably still die anyway, since most enemies has a cripple/immobilize/pull and will use it at the first opportunity.

well strictly speaking Arenanet’s message was never there i no endgame rather, end game starts at level 1. The idea isnt there is nothing to do once you get to max level, the idea is what you do at max level isnt any different then what you do in the levels leading up to that. instead of having 2 games, one game for leveling up and one game for when you’re max level, you got one unified game which personally I find was a brilliant concept.

Have they potentially been moved to other Heart vendors? I haven’t checked, but while completing the new Hearts in Caledon and Plains of Ashford last night, I noticed that the new Heart vendors are selling rewards that previously used to be available at other vendors. So it’s possible the rewards are still available, but now they’re acquired from other Heart vendors.

I think it would be silly to remove the Apples from Eda though. She has an APPLE ORCHARD.

My main is a ranger, level 80 for a very long time and I have The Dreamer. I sacrifice a skill slot just so I can have Signet of the Hunt and the 25% run speed increase. And every other toon that I have, I always keep the run speed skill or trait up just so I can run faster. Anyone else do this or is it just me?

I’ll +1 this request.

Would love to see these (and blade shards) added to the collections tab. They are a crafting component after all….

Although, they aren’t a ‘traditional’ crafting component, they are a forge component. So perhaps, how about a ‘mystic forge’ collections tab. Un-soulbind (account bind it instead) the crap we buy from Miyani and allow us to deposit them into this new collections section, along with the clusters, and blade shards, etc.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Please, Arena Net devs. Tell us if you removed Error Attempting to Sell. This thing has been an annoyance for me and everyone for over 2 years. I’ve made several rage threads about this error which were deleted. Error Attempting to Sell does not stop botters on TP, they could set timers and probably continue to flip prices 24/7.

At the very least ANET should change the text of the error message to be more useful. You are selling items too fast. Wait a bit before trying again would be far more useful than the current message.

Why do you think it’s an anti-botting measure ?
Bots are patient. They won’t get frustrated at the error. They can wait.
It’s humans who get frustrated.

And why do legit players have to be part of this? It’s like when someone do something wrong everybody gets affected. They need better botting countermeasures.

2 years is a long time for an MMO not to release anything.

I think you are mistaken. We have released content and features in the last two years on a fairly regular basis. Just because the content and/or features were things that you personally did not particularly care for doesn’t mean we didn’t release anything.

Please don’t trivialize the efforts of our design and development staff down to “nothing” because you didn’t like it. It’s fine to comment that you didn’t care for what was released, but don’t pretend like we’ve done nothing here for the past two years.

Looks at WvW

Looks at sPvP

Looks at precursor crafting

Looks at official GvG game-mode

Looks at guild capes and guild halls

Looks at new zones and dungeons

Looks at new weapon, utility, and elite skills

Looks at slow and almost non-existent balance updates

Ok Mark.

You just confirmed what he typed.

He was being sarcastic although…

Looks at WvW
WvW Ranks + Abilities + Tournaments + Split Obsidian Sanctum into own map + EotM

Looks at sPvP
sPvP Reward Tracks + Free Tournaments + e-Sports Tournaments + Use PvE skins + Coin Rewards

Looks at precursor crafting
Got me here, although would you really want a precursor crafting that would most likely be the equivalent of making a Legendary without the Precursor… on top of making a Legendary?

Looks at official GvG game-mode
WvW map that got sectioned off for GvG fights, though it’s never used.

Looks at guild capes and guild halls
Capes would only really look good on Humans, Norn, and Sylvari. Additionally, you can already get capes by wearing a Grenth Hood or a few other pieces of clothing to give you a cape-ish feel. Not the same as having a really shiny piece of cloth on your back, flapping with it’s own physics, but I think that’s good enough.

Looks at new zones and dungeons
Dry Tops, Southsun, Labrynthine, Fractals, More Fractals, Aetherblade… yeah, nothing new…

Looks at new weapon, utility, and elite skills
New utilities and healing skills, sure, not much variety, but still something. Also traits. Traits got worked around a bunch (although this can go in the next segment).

Looks at slow and almost non-existent balance updates
They used to be fast. But they’re still… n-… we-.. I’ll give you this one. However that’s only recently, over the 2 years, they’ve done a lot of changing the game, both with the engine, UX, and trait/skill balance.

Ok, Flytrap.

Could the fix include something as simple as keeping collapsed subsections collapsed when switching between discovery and known recipes?

This is a horrible boss fight!

I’m supposed to fight the thing alone? Minions coming from all directions and the dogs completely ignoring me and my Mesmer’s clones and just going after the minions that often die just b4 they reach the boss. And i don’t know what bubbles ppl above are talking about, I’ve seen no bubbles only insane rings of crap flying everywhere from the boss.

I tried to grab the dogs’ aggro by hopping from one to another, but they just ignore me till they kill the minions then turn on me. These dogs hit like a truck, each hit takes 1/3 of my life.

I thought Aerin fight was boring and annoying but this takes the cake.

Died twice now, first time after returning, the boss still remained damaged a little after about half an hour of going it at it, the 2nd time, when i got back in range he had fully reset. How annoying to spawn u so faraway from the boss fight, so that he would reset b4 you get back!

Well that did it for me. I’m not gonna bother with it, it’s too boring and frustrating and takes waaaaayyyy too long.

And yea, Kas Marj are nowhere to be seen gg.

It’s a shame that this fight ruins for the most part a great story so far, i really don’t know what they’ve thinking with this fight, it’s totally unfun!

I love how “removing waypoints” is supposed to solve stuff like “not enough people on the map” and “stops people from zerging”.

You remove waypoints, and the map goes from “few people” to “no people” very quickly. We won’t travel from a town to a remote map that takes 30 minutes to walk to. It’s a complete waste of time. You know how there’s not enough people at the Temple of Lyssa events? Well good luck completing it when no one wants to walk to the temple, much less do the event.

And people will zerg anyway. In fact, without waypoints, it’s better to zerg. It means less death (and therefore, less running back to the map) with the same high rewards.

Guild Wars 2 Narrative Lead

Next

Either the writers got some help, or they gotten a lot better. Whatever it is it’s working

We’re focusing a bit more on the presentation of the writing now. In the past, we wrote and voiced a number of scenes that never got built. There were story and character moments for planned instances that, unfortunately, got cut. What was especially difficult for the writers and narrative designers was that feeling of “I wrote all this stuff that would make the story more cohesive but nobody can experience it.” We learned a lot over the past year about how we could do a better job of conveying the story, so we partnered with a number of designers and learned some basic implementation skills.

Really, the root of the issue was communication between disciplines. The changes you’re noticing are a direct result of the increased collaboration between narrative, design, art, and audio. The story moments in the past three releases came about through many meetings where we’d all talk about character moments and plot points, and how we can best portray them with our tech.

We experimented with using instanced and open world scenes, and tried to place those moments in and around gameplay such that they were in the direct line of sight but weren’t heavily gated. This is all basic game narrative stuff that is common in development, but something we’ve had to experiment with due to the unique nature of our platform. And yeah, we’re also trying to seed more ambient lore that ties back to the current episode plot because it makes the world feel more alive. The fact that people are noticing these changes makes me incredibly happy.

CDI- Fractal Evolution

in CDI

Posted by: timmyf.1490

timmyf.1490

Proposal Overview

Create “Practice Mode Fractals” which allow newer players to learn the encounters one Fractal at a time, making it easier for players to get started.

Goal of Proposal

As leader of a small guild, I routinely find that new and experienced players alike have a fear of getting started with Fractals. They don’t know what Fractals are, how they work, or what they should be doing. I’ll offer to take them on some low level runs and explain the maps, but given the large number of Fractals, it can take awhile before we run into certain Fractals.

This makes it considerably harder to get them up to speed.

Also: I do not do higher-level Fractals with instabilities, but I could see this functionality being useful for practicing Instability X with Fractal Y.

Proposal Functionality

By speaking to Dessa, you can take your party into a single, specific Fractal of your choosing. (Over time, as Fractals deactivate, this could also be a way to play Fractals that are no longer in the main rotation.)

Associated Risks

Loot is my primary concern. If Practice Fractals have the same drops and rewards as regular Fractals, I could see them being farmed. I therefore propose that no loot drop AT ALL in Practice Mode Fractals so they are ONLY used for their intended purpose: learning the encounters so you can play regular Fractals with a group.
