But enough people bought it so they seem to be happy with it. Never touch a running system.
I agree changing the price now would not be good, but I bet those players would be even happier if more plants started showing up in their garden. I don’t think its ok that they all cost the same price but you get 6 resources less.
I really don’t think it’s fair, sure none of the home instance nodes are worth the money, but this harvesting node is the worst offender. Unlike trees and ore which you can hit 3 times each, herbs you can only hit once, and they also give out junk items despite using orichalcum tools. For the insane price of 800 gems, there should at least be 9 plants to harvest to make them on par with the rest of the nodes. Or reduce their price from 800 to 250 gems, because this is just silly.
it never had any real effect on how we interacted with npcs or behaved in game.
New dialogue options appeared on certain npcs depending on your personality, however none of them were designed to restrict gameplay. They had their use, but they weren’t a big gameplay mechanic.
Has the personality system been completely dumped or will see an improvement on it sometime in the future? I ask this because we still get a choice in selecting our personality when creating characters, and there are still numerous NPCs that seem to use this system. This strikes me as odd, why keep those if it was supposed to be permanently scrapped? I’m really hoping that one day, the personality system will get its own tab with more info and cool uses.
I have nothing against these “raid” bosses spawning a bit less frequently every day because I feel that can add to their “epicness”, but these spawn times they gave us every 8 hours aren’t good. They should each spawn 3 times during prime/evening time instead of middle of the night and during lunch time as these two won’t ever be popular and serve no practical purpose. If not then the guild summoning requirements need to be drastically reduced to ensure everyone can get enough tries at them.
The current summon prices seem to be taking it for granted that we will actually kill the wurm every day of the week for that price, but for people still practicing the fight this is too much as they could really use multiple consecutive tries for practice and now with the current prices they will easily drain all of their resources in 2-3 days, then spend 2+ weeks getting more merits and influence before they can try again.
This is a common mechanic in MMOs, every mob is designed to stay in his designated area, if you pull him too far away from where you found him he will return back and reset (restore health back to full). This mechanic is in place to prevent manipulation of mobs in certain areas and to prevent many different ways of exploiting and grieving other players, imagine someone pulling hundred of mobs and kiting them back to starter areas.
They don’t always transform you, took me about 5+ tries on each location before she finally transformed me, so just keep on trying and you will eventually get it.
This isn’t the first such issue I’ve seen with the “Large” interface setting.
I’m in the U.S., playing/typing in English, and the “—” character appears as “?” when the interface is set to “large.” That’s mostly just distracting when reading NPC mail, since each of them is signed with that character.
The problem wasn’t with the large interface, that was a problem I already knew about and it wasn’t solving this issue, but the font size option in the chat bar seems to have it’s own separate but similar issues, and that’s a well hidden option on the little cog in the chat bar. So yeah they are both things you will have to keep an eye out and I can imagine if both are set incorrectly things will really be messy.
I also had this problem at one point, at it happened at the worst possible time during a dungeon boss encounter (or atleast thats when I noticed it), rebooting the game seems to fix it, but its really annoying when it happens at a time you cannot relog but need to let someone else know something through a whisper, and they just keep waiting there thinking you are ignoring them :S
Yes, you should be able to do this and not expect issues, the same applies for most MMOs including WoW. You’ll also need to make sure your new disk is formatted to NTFS because the game files are pretty large. GW2 saves your configurations into my documents folders, hence why you can move the data and exe files around your disk freely.
Just wanted to add here for future archive reasons that this issue has finally been successfully resolved. Upon further discussion about this in my guild, someone came to a very simple idea, changing the chat font size in the chat bar in GW2. It seems that these issues only appear on the large setting, but not on medium and small, so if anyone else might have such problems, just change your font size.
Are you sure you got every single map to 100%? Go recheck them all again, you do not need to enter every map to see their %, just hover your mouse over the zone name on the world map, also be sure that there is one PoI in the Chantry of Secrets you need to take but does not show on the map completion for Bloodtide Coast.
This will be hilarious for characters with swiftness who are also crippled/chilled.
No it wont really, both of those effects have their own animations and much like it is now they will have priority while retaining the speed of swiftness.
They said this won’t happen due to sPvP and spectating, everyone needs to have the same interface.
Support says that it isn’t one of the officially supported languages and that they can’t help because GW2 does not support it, but that still doesn’t really answer the question how some can see these special characters and some don’t… obviously GW2 does support it somehow, or sometimes…
What’s really weird is that I can actually see all of these characters in the bubbles that hover over someones head, just not in the chat window below, guess ticket is my only option now.
I have tried changing the keyboard layout as well, and text editors such as notepad and ms word accept these characters normally, and yes even other games like WoW and other forums show them okay, it’s just GW2 and GW2 forums that cannot show them for some unknown reason.
When I first saw the elementalist class trailer few years ago I was really excited to see we might have some cool dynamic camera angles, however we currently only have an option for a small offset to left or right, which is not even noticeable when used.
You can check out this video to see what I’m talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3ecPMHggAQ
Turns out that was all smoke and mirrors, tricks to make the game actually look better : (not that it isn’t great already :P)
I noticed that we have a similar camera effect when downed, the camera changes and skewers in angle a bit. I would really love if we could get an option to enable such dynamic camera angles for combat, maybe make it move around a bit, maybe shake when we do critical hits, or sway about, change angles a bit and some other cool tricks, dynamically zooming in and out like when we encounter large bosses which we sometimes already have, maybe this effect could be used for when enemies use large aoe abilities as well. I think this could make combat more exciting and thrilling for those that find the static camera a bit too boring. And ofc an option to turn it off for people that do not wish to be bothered by it in sPvP for example if it might distract them. What do you guys think ?
Characters in GW2 are really really well animated, it’s one of the things that makes it really fun for me to play, however I find that the lack of animation for swiftness kind of a bummer. Instead of just increasing the speed of the regular running animation and adding some white/yellow lines to indicate how fast we are, why not make actual sprinting animation for swiftness? Some different leg-work and forward leans could really be cool, for example like how warriors have the Rush skill, movement really looks great there on humans and really stand out on charrs, why not use these or create similar animations for when we move with the swiftness buff?
So nobody has any ideas or similar issues with other languages?
Hello, I’m from Croatia and here we use special letters such as š,?,?,? and ž. For some reason I cannot see those in the chat bar, but they do appear in the chat bubble displayed on screen for some reason. Since I play in a Croatian guild, everyone uses these often but many times it becomes a problem making out words when half of letters do not display in guild chat. I asked my guild mates and most of them do not have this problem, hence why they use them, but some have it and are not sure why. We tried comparing our language and regional settings in windows and they are the same, yet the game behaves differently for some us.
I can type fine by avoiding these letters by using substitutes, but many don’t know we have this problem and I can’t really ask everyone to stop using them just because some of us can’t see them for unknown reasons. What’s interesting is that 2 of those display properly, but the other 3 don’t, for some of us at least. I always thought this was normal and that the game simply doesn’t support it, but others tell me it does for them so there has to be something.
I tried searching for solutions but cannot find anything useful for the past few months now, and my guildies are all out of suggestions, any ideas? I tried repairing the client but it didn’t fix it, are there any other methods I could try and force special ASCII characters appear in the chat?
EDIT: Interesting, as I post this I see that the same thing happens on the forum, the three letters in the middle simply appear as “?” while I can see the other two fine, how do you guys see those symbols?

Like AeroJavi said, if you leave your character camped in the zone waiting for the boss to appear again you will not get the rewards, for the chest to spawn again you need to leave the zone, no camping allowed.
The outlines appear if you enable post processing in the options. Are you sure you haven’t turned this off meanwhile to increase fps? Check if it’s enabled, if it is, try disabling it and then re-enabling it again.
There were rumors hinted from an Anet dev few days ago that this feature might be coming to the game next week.
Sounds to me like you want the True Combat Mode mod of GW2. And yes it’s legal since it just rebinds your hotkeys.
You do not need to party with anyone at any time during any kind of event, party system in GW2 is completely arbitrary. If nobody else is playing around the place you have trouble at, then you have the general map chat, use it, talk to people, socialize, make friends and you will find help fast and easy.
Is this even legal? Only glanced at it for a bit but seems to me like it directly modifies something in the gw2.exe which we’re not really allowed to do I think.
I’ve also had this bug once but before the southsun living story patch, a client restart fixed it for me though.
Sounds like a problem with DPI scaling, look around your drivers or control panel and try to reset or adjust that.
Ok so I finally managed to fix my issue and I’ll post here once more purely for archive reasons in case someone has a similar issue in the future. It wasn’t in my graphics drivers but in windows, in control panel I had an option set up to increase the font size a bit, once you switch GW2 into windowed mode it applies this effect for some reason not only to fonts in the game but to every other element as well, making it appear very stretched and zoomed in resulting in a very pixelish picture. Once the font size is returned to 100% GW2 can display ok in windowed mode.
Yeah happens on my warrior all the time now, needs to be fixed.
+ karma bonuses stack, maximum you can have is +90%, which results in one jug giving 7500 karma, boosters don’t stack with bonfire boosts, and banners don’t stack with other banners. I have no idea why you only got 4500 if you say you had a bonus.
I’ve already played GW2 with a controller and can say that combat could really work well, but managing inventory, trading post and chatting with others would be very problematic and would require a keyboard and mouse. PS3 already supports keyboards and mice and has two usb ports, next gen consoles will likely have those features as well, so I guess it would be better to just have the exact same control schemes for the console versions, playing with a keyboard and mouse that is. The only benefit here would really be that console owners don’t need to buy a new gaming rig just to be able to play GW2 if they already have a good console.
On the other hand, GW2 still has a bunch of unresolved issues and lacks any real good improvements, so instead I’d prefer if they used this time to actually add something really worthwhile to the game.
This used to keep happening to me as well when I started playing, it kept asking for authentication over and over for about a week or two, looking at my authenticated IPs under my profiles I can see that it has a certain range of IPs it set up for trusted, since my IP automatically changes every day. I don’t really remember anymore, but could take a look next time this happens to you and go to your profile and save your trusted IPs as “remember as trusted”, not sure if this was an option.
Overall I really like the sky in GW2, it has some of the most beautiful skies I ever say, especially in bloodtide coast, however I’d like to see more effects like lens flares from looking at the sun and some more sun rays beaming down between trees. The night could also be a bit more darker for my taste as currently it’s not dark at all.
Yeah there really needs to be something done about this, either let us salvage them for mist essence, or lets us use them in mystic forge to get other random ascended rings.
Definitely more bunnies and quaggans!
Ok so here’s a little update on my issue, I was playing GW2 on my HDTV, then I switched to another HDTV and suddenly this issue was non existant. My first thought was that the HDMI port in my other TV might be faulty or something. However today I started GW2 and now the same keeps happening on this other TV as well. My suspicions are still on the Catalyst Control Center, as it detects and does something with my displays which I can’t quite put my finger on. I’ll try changing HDMI ports and rebooting the PC to see if I might get some winning combinations.
If none of you want to delete your characters, both of you can always guest anytime for free on each others servers.
It’s something they are still working on, it was just a base for some upcoming future content but they haven’t really gotten around to using it for anything just yet. It will most probably be tied to the housing system in the future.

Jigain is right, you need to type in your e-mail, not your username.
Are you by any chance playing in windowed mode? Try going Fullscreen 1920×1080 (not windowed fullscreen) , that fixes it for me and it sounds awfully similar to my problem in the other thread, however I want to try and stick to windowed mode.
Turns out even deleting it didn’t fix it, so my best guess is that it has to be something with some other settings of mine, I also updated my display drivers but that also apparently does nothing…
Interesting trivia though, I just tried taking a screenshot while in this low-res windowed mode, and then looking akittens resolution in some pic editing programs and it was 1920×1080, but the game just messes it up for some reason.
Turns out I can’t even open the local.dat. It goes into “not responding” immediately so I guess I’ll have to delete it and let the game create another one.
My tip is to use windowed-full screen, its the setting I use. Is there a reason you would rather play in normal windowed mode than windows-full screen?
The option I am trying to use is in fact Windowed Fullscreen, and I do not have an 800×600 anywhere under the available options, but when I choose any of the windowed options (both normal and window and fullscreen) the game automatically resizes the resolution even further than the lowest I can select manually (which is 1024×786) to what I can only guess is 800×600.
I would try deleting the local.dat file and then launch the game and change the settings you desire. Perhaps you can even edit the local.dat file to see that the settings are being forced to run at 800×600 and change it to whatever resolution you desire. I’ve never opened the local.dat file to see what is inside, but I do know it contains all the game’s settings that you set, like whether you play on high or low graphics settings, etc.
Hmm good ideas, will I have to redownload anything again when I delete this local.dat? Also is editing local.dat legal?
If you can choose 800×600 option in the game, that is not Windowed mode. That is Fullscreen.
I’m not choosing this option, there is no 800×600 under the options, only 1024×768 is the lowest, but when I go into any windowed mode from my 1920×1080, the game shifts down to even lower than that by itself, I tried playing in 1024×768 and the screen is still clear, but in windowed mode its way more pixxelated and blurry, meaning it must be much much lower, and I don’t really know why.

Really, nobody has any ideas or knows some tricks?
I just want Tequatl to shut up! I am halfway across the map and all I can hear over and over is her challenging me to prove the sun shines through me.
They already have Group Events as a category.
Umm that’s not Tequatl, he’s a dragon in Sparkfly Fen and you’re talking about the Hylek Shaman event in Caledon Forest.
