The whole point of karma is that unlike gold it is not trade-able. It’s not something that you own per se, it’s your own personal renown that you gain by completing events. Basically, the more you interact with the world, help npcs and such, you become more popular, hence why they offer you rewards in return. Trading popularity across characters doesn’t seem logical at all. Also, it is easy to transfer huge amounts of karma as it is, I’m almost always only playing my warrior, and I stash every karma jug and drop I get from both dungeons and dailies so that when I get to play my elementalist he can get a nice little boost.
I agree that your idea won’t really hurt anything in the game, especially not economy, but it’s not really about that, it’s basically just about principle, about roleplaying your character, as you play them they become heroes and more popular, that’s the purpose of karma, about making them more special and unique because they went out there, traveled the world, helped people all across the land, and in turn got something in return, popularity.
I do agree that over time it just boiled down to inconvenient currency, but we just have to accept it as a uniquely designed currency.
Unless they also add a buff that lets you jump higher (which won’t ever happen because they would need to revamp the whole world because people will find new ways to exploit), I can only see this as being extremely situational, where these skills would rarely be usable but still clog up your skill bars and slots. Also, I can’t quite think of a single spot where this might be usable. Sure it sounds fun to jump down on a mob from a hill and unleash hell, but again, how would this be usable in PvP and dungeons which are mostly horizontal?
However, I think it might be cool to add some alternative effects to the already existing skills if they are used while jumping. So you actually might be onto something there.
Yeah, I know what Triple Triad is, I played all FF games, and it was cool, I also played MTG so I know that as well. The reason why I think Triple Triad and the card game in FF IX worked in those games was because they were actually really simple (they were actual minigames). Basically it was just monster cards with numbers, you placed them down and the higher numbers win, it was really simple, with a few advanced mathematical combos, but that was essentially it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it, I love the idea and can’t wait to see something like this in GW2, but it definitely needs to be more like Triple Triad and less like MTG.
Also, don’t get me wrong, MTG is an insanely awesome card game which I love (or at least used to love), but even though you and me who might have played it for years understand how it might actually be really simple once you get the hang of it, it’s still a hard learning curve for beginners, because it’s a full fledged game, not a mini game. Stuff like that might be overwhelming to people that want a fun distraction from combat.
Your enthusiasm for designing the card game is great, but try to keep it more simple, without these line of sight movement rules and attack modes and such. Keep in mind that we want a card game in GW2 that everyone can play, not just those advance MTG players that play a lot of other board and card games that are used to soaking in new complex rules on a daily basis.
Yeah, I have no idea what the OP is talking about as well, rally hasn’t been removed at all, you still fall down and bleed like you always have, and can rally normally with or without a party. It’s like Kayleen isn’t even playing the same game as we are :P
This has already been mentioned earlier, probably even numerous times, so you’re not the only one that wants this.
Yes it’s usually like that, some servers had CoF event bugged, some had Arah gates event bugged, some have something else. This is why it seems really hard for them to actually find out what is causing these events to bug out as there seems to be some kind of unknown variable causing it which might also be connected to player actions in those regions. The best they can do is reset them on a patch, but they eventually get bugged again. Permanently fixing these for good might take a some time until they can somehow pinpoint the causes.
My server, Gandara, has had the Taidha Covington event bugged from what appears forever now. It just never seems to trigger.
Were you by any chance playing in Diessa Plateau? Some npcs in the game will take your money if you take bets, for example one of them is in Diessa with the cow catapult that you can bet silver with if he can shoot a cow at the tower. Basically, be sure to read what they are saying and offering, blindly clicking at random and answering whatever comes up might sometimes cost you money, maybe you just stumbled on one of these cases and gave out your money without noticing. I lost 80 silver like this when I was level 15-20, which was about all I had, and I learned a great lesson.
Most probably all are on 24 hour cooldown, the reset at a certain hour only goes for daily achievements.
This is a bit too complicated, why did you mention Triple Triad is similar? Cause it’s not at all. You will never see such a complex minigame be added in GW2, because MTG is not a minigame, it’s a full fledged game of its own.
Like TheDaiBish said, this would really suck, and it doesn’t fit with the GW2 philosophy that everyone is welcome no matter what their class might be.
Haven’t played a necro yet, but if a skill to sacrifice your minions to gain health or shield already isn’t one of his abilities, then it really needs to be.
Implementing such a feature would be a complete waste of Anets time and manpower. As Dondarrion said, it takes only 5 seconds to log out and log in another character. Also you do know that these characters have to load too, so just by quickly selecting them you won’t really get anything, because you will still get loading every time you switch, hence why this is really a pointless feature.
You don’t need to keep your pvp armor on you, it automatically switches to it, so you can have both PvE and PvP armor equipped at the same time. And yes, they are working on guild halls and scrimmages.
[quote=1386837;Lane.3410:]
29 earned gold isn’t realistic for some people especially just to change servers.
This is absolutely right. The argument gems can be bought from gold is laughable, the transfer ratio 1:1 is awful, although yes I agree it should be like that, it’s still bad.
Yes but unlike wow, here you transfer ALL characters and not just 1. You can also guest wherever you wish completely for free, so WHY again is this even an issue?
Divinity’s Reach is just beatiful and Rata Sum is built so well you can reach anything easily without much running around. Just make portals from every city to every city. That will help. Or maybe give people a heartstone.
It’s not a problem getting there, there are tons of waypoints so you can always port, the main issue is staying there. We all ever only use one waypoint, and that’s the one in between TP and the bank, we go, we do our business and then we leave cause there is nothing else to do really. Why in the world I use any other waypoint in Divinities reach? There’s one in every plaza, but there is nothing there for us to do, give us a reason to visit.
Anet mentioned they are working on populating the world with events, I can only hope this will include the towns as well, if not be sure to +1 this so they can eventually notice it. At this rate the towns aren’t lively, they are a graveyard.
No, you need to wait for them to fix it. Other people that bought it reported receiving non-ranger items, so they disabled it until they fix it.
How is this a bug? I completed that event at least 5 times on my own as well as in a group and never had any issues so far. The amount of parts available was designed like that on purpose so that you have to leave to return the ones you picked up and then go back for some more. Picking them all up in one swift run and still be enough to complete the entire event would make the event a bit too easy and way to fast to do.
The only way you get trait points is by leveling up, the manuals are there so you can re-invest old trait points somewhere else. This is good in case you wanna try and play a different build, or in case you might have made a wrong choice when allocating traits.
I have 100% World completion and can confirm that there is no PoI located there.
On certain, usually larger enemies, the warriors skill Rush never makes contact. The attacking animation never triggers and my character just continues to run into him. I’m unsure if this happens on every race, as I know they have different animation and sizes, but my Charr warrior usually never succeeds dealing damage with this attack.
There are probably many different enemies out there on which this skill is practically useless, the one that come to mind are Irukandji in FotM. There are many many more as I remember this happening frequently and it’s really discouraging me to use this skill at all. If anyone can confirm other enemy types with the same issue please post below them so Anet can look into them.
a buffet line for my character to pig out on tyrian cuisines, then go travel while full and boosted (food items give boosts).
in town games and carnival. divinity’s reach has the foundations of a great party, but it needs to be worked on. the animal/zoo thing was interesting, until i realized how short the trip was.
asuran basketball court or that mayan ball game with the stone balls. could be energy balls that kd, or something. or the asurans can have that trampoline/basketball hybrid thing, except with wind gusts from vents.
more golem battles in metrica province to bet silver on.
Yeah Divinity’s Reach already has a carnival and a zoo but there really isn’t anything to do or see there. The whole world is dynamic yet the towns are static, npcs just standing there minding their own business.
Guilds will eventually get their patch, with all tweaks, halls and wars.
You can already use custom soundtrack playlists in the game which dynamically change as you play, really no need for an entire patch for music.
You’re kidding right? Anet has a blog post up every 5 days communicating about changes and ideas in development.
Exactly, its not about realism, its about balance. Because we already have waypoints, and the game was build without any mounts in mind, the only way they could work is if they didn’t grant anything special except the cosmetic look.
They already announced last month that the new dailies will actually become like that soon.
They did? I must have missed that. I don’t remember reading anything about that.
From 20 days ago:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/colin-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-in-the-months-ahead/
Mounts should be like the flying broom is now, no extra speed and no available skills. Purely cosmetic.
They already announced last month that the new dailies will actually become like that soon.
As a matter of fact, I don’t use it, I always manage to find a group by asking for one in the zone it’s located (apart from CoE which I don’t do anymore). I do agree with you that the chat suppression is an issue which needs to be taken care of.
This really should have been in at launch. Having to use a 3rd party tool for a AAA game like this is funny.
Wrong, this is a social game, they wanted you to talk to people and create groups, not play an interface that finds people for you. Spamming LFG is still communication.
If you can’t complete the dailies, they why do you even want the strongest gear? If you can’t play for 1 hour a day to complete a daily, then are you planning to play dungeons with that 1 hour you have at your disposal? Obviously not, if you don’t have time to play dungeons, then you don’t really need the strongest gear, which is in this case, ascended gear for fractals, which were intended solely for hardcore players to test their skill for end game.
They give you the strongest gear in the game simply for doing dailies, yet you still complain, you guys are never satisfied.
Maybe they should add clear indicators on those karma items so we know they were bought for karma at some point, or we got them from personal story some time ago.
Look around a bit, there are tons of posts from casual players claiming that dungeons are too hard, too many people required for a party (yeah 5 is too many now) and takes too much of their time. They demand solo dungeons, they feel they are entitled to see this content without meeting any requirements. This would happen to your raids as well, they will cry it’s too hard to get so many people, and that they NEED to see this content simply because they bought the game. Current dungeons also only give out cosmetic items, yet they just want to be able to see them and admire the scenic dungeon interior without actually playing them as they were intended to be played.
The only items you cannot salvage are items you bought for karma I believe. I myself have no trouble salvaging anything that drops. I’m already at 250 salvages, and its only the 5th in the month, also there are some players out there who have already completed a monthly, so I don’t see why 30 days would not be enough to salvage 500 items.
Can I ask you why you are trying to complete a daily? For Laurels? If so, what are you planning to buy for Laurels?
Thing is that once you hit an high level you may want to actually feel like you have an high level character, and that also means steamrolling through level 8 monsters.
I’m still doing that as I type this, level 8 mobs can’t even scratch my level 80 warrior.

I never said they aren’t entitled to high end gear, in fact if you actually read what I wrote you will see that I said they can get high end tier in many many other ways in the game.
Also, there is no such thing that benefits both casuals and hardcore players, at the current rate people both types are complaining that the game is either too hard or too boring with nothing to do so they just leave and stop playing.
I heard something about Moa Races, maybe that will be in The Grove. But these things will be instanced if Keg Brawl is any indaction, you won’t be seeing people that are interested in playing those roaming about the towns, and just like Keg Brawl, they will only occupy one small space of the huge town. They most certainly are a step in the right direction though, but just that won’t be enough.
So missing out on a daily is equivalent to suffering now ? Daily rewards are all fluff anyway, you can get the same gear and those exact rewards elsewhere in the game by just playing the game. People who only play 20 minutes every day have no use for karma, mystic coins or laurels, as those are used for getting ascended high tier end-game content and legendaries which take a lot of time and effort. If you just want that cat mini then request a reduced cost for it, not reduced difficulty for dailies.
I agree with you, they are fine and don’t need changing, apart from maybe the daily healer. Why? Well that’s simple, because it encourages players to let npcs die on purpose so they can get the daily faster and easier. That’s not really good is it, we need to save those villagers, not let them die so we can get a daily.
Having said that, I think that dailies should not be easy, and be done in 30 minutes, they should be awarded after a days worth of playtime, like 2-3 hours. Just because people play the game a bit every day doesn’t mean they are entitled to a reward. And just because it resets every day, doesn’t mean you HAVE to get it every single day.
The world dragon bosses are currently being reworked to make them more interesting. What I’m hoping is that they will not only be more challenging and fun, but also on a larger cooldown to prevent mass farming and so they don’t get old quite as fast, and also with better rewards, like a few guaranteed rares at least.
Currently, there isn’t really any point in visiting/staying in towns, apart from visiting a crafting station, bank, or trading post. However these are only present in specific spots, but the towns themselves are pretty huge, and those other parts feel completely empty devoid of life and activity. Yes we can explore them, grab some PoI’s and Vistas, but once we do so it is easily noticeable how empty they are and we never have a reason to go to those other parts of towns again. So many streets and so many houses with nothing going on in them 24/7. For starters, it would be really nice if some dynamic events could take place in towns as well. Doesn’t need to be combat oriented, but they would be welcome as well, like a bank robbery for example, or a mugging at the marketplace, or maybe a simple package delivery to one of the houses. It could really be anything, currently every city apart from LA (which is always in overflow) is completely empty of players, give us reasons to visit these beautiful vast cities you have crafted. Some of us want to live in Divinity’s Reach, not just warp there to stash an item and then warp back out.
Another thing, the Karka invasion on Lions Arch might not have been the best example of how an assault on a town is executed, and that could certainly be improved. I am aware player’s need a safe place to call their home, but some kind of major attacks or assaults on Black Citadel or Divinity’s reach would also be a great addition. Unlike the world boss dragons, these would be on a big timer so they don’t become annoying or old, like lets say a week or two. Maybe have a different city get attacked every week, after the attack players could help out inside the city rebuild and help survivors get back on their feet, there could be a number of interesting events taking place there.

Looking at the number of people complaining how this game is hard, I doubt we will ever witness truly intense, challenging and satisfying gameplay in exploration or anywhere around the world. There will always be people that feel they are entitled free and free rewards just because they bought the game.
Or simply add a clear “time remaining before reset” next to the daily achievement, so people know not to bother if they are close to a reset.
They area already working on it, can people please stop posting about this now, they already announced a new better LFG system will be added soon.
Yes but easy games aren’t satisfying.
There is nothing to fix, it has always worked like it works now, you never could roll over your previous daily to another day.
