I also agree on the character sheet. I would also like to know more from the Devs on how the MF increases your chance on getting loot. I don’t think there has been enough info on this to see if it is indeed worth running with it. Please give us percentages or how it works.
Here’s how MF works. Lets start by explaining how loot tables are determined, the game first rolls on the highest/best items if they will drop, so first it rolls for exotics (which are smaller chances), if it fails it moves to rare items, when that fails it then moves to masterwork etc etc you get the idea. Each of these loottables have their own items with their own drop percentages. If an item has a drop chance of 0.1%, and your magic find stat is +100%, then instead of that 0.1% that item now has a 0.2% essentially doubling it, and if you have +200% MF it will tripple. However some items have really small drop rates, like for example 0.01% will become 0.02% with +100% MF, so really in this case it doesn’t really do you any good because its still not noticeable at all.
People did some experiments, and indeed it showed an increase in material drops, I don’t know where I read this statistics as it was a while ago, but basically in exactly 50 kills with +0% MF 5 vials of weak blood was dropped. Increasing it to +50% MF showed that another 50 kills of the same mob would drop an average of 11 weak bloods, increasing it further to lets say +100% MF revealed that 15ish weak blood were dropped from another 50 kills. So statistically it does show some level of effectiveness.

Like any other stat, it might be best to keep it private, however like all other stats I would really appreciate it if they would include it in our character sheet together with all other stat breakdowns. I mean, they do still have one free slot available at the bottom…
You’re right about that, how about we limit each heart reset once per day? Or maybe reset 10 hearts of your choice per day, something like that seems a bit more balanced and unabusive.
Yeah this happens with my Charr as well.
I do not support this…
I love the level downscaling, the point of GW2 isn’t leveling and imo an RPG does not need leveling.
The story, the feeling, the battle machanics, the choices, the interactions, the people, the new gear, the achievment’s, the humor and much more is what makes an RPG.
I have lost 5 friends from GW2 since they leveled to 80 in one week and now they think they are done with this game, I have told them ‘You have missed the whole point of Guild Wars, it’s your loss.’
Exactly my stance on this as well.
Well, they did say that they are working on adding more events into the game now, I bet some of these will be chained, so there’s a chance some will be longer that the ones we see now.
Creative weapons never have sheaths because they simply cannot fit into anything due to their elaborate designs. And as Kal Spiro said, every single one would have to have it’s own unique belt/strap whatever.
What I’d like to see or atleast have an option to do is being able to sheath away my two swords on my back instead of my waist.
Yes a way to replay hearts but still retain their completion status in order to be able to get world completion would be nice. Not sure if auto-reset is a way to go, but if people want to reset a heart to replay it again I don’t see how that might harm anyone.
I’ll agree with you that GW1 was indeed a hard game, but GW2 not so much. They made everything so simple that you barely need to think how or what to do in order to “beat” the game, you just run around and start hitting things and sooner or later you will eventually get 100% world completion or finish the story mode. In GW1, just finishing the story levels was sometimes very challenging, and getting all bonus missions even harder. The achievements in GW1 were on a whole other level where you really needed to play and plan things well to get. I’m not satisfied with how casual it all is in GW2. I also want hard mode of some sort in, but that probably won’t happen because people are already crying how hard the game is and want an easy mode instead…
If you’re playing GW2 for a hardcore experience then you’re playing the wrong game. Go play Dark Souls or Wizardry Online, WO has permadeath so I’m sure you’ll like it, its free to play and it came out a week or two ago, no reason not to check it out.
Thanks for all reply. I’m happy with the discussion. But please clarify what will SCAVENGER HUNT FOR PRECURSORS be?? I’m not aware of this. Will this be an event?
It is still unknown, the scavenger hunt is currently the project name for some kind of system that will give players more opportunities to find precursor weapons. You will just have to wait and see until they reveal more details.
The ONLY reason to want it to be turned off, the ONLY reason, is to show off how much rediculous damage you can do to level 2 mobs.
No, this isn’t why I don’t like it. I don’t like the leveling system in GW2 for 1 reason, it makes leveling worthless.
They should have stayed with their original premise of no leveling at all, e.g. make the game all about skill, not gear or level stats.
It does not make the leveling worthless, instead of simply adding you power by default, leveling up opens you up more options and possibilities to customize your play style by unlocking more traits and more skills, it’s simple as that. The level is just an indicator how many traits you have at your disposal, demanding you must be stronger by default because you simply have a higher number is incredibly selfish and ignorant of how good and fair games actually work. I’m aware you got used to how things work in other MMOs, but that doesn’t mean that THAT is the right way to make it so. They did stay with their original concept that its all about skill, how can you be so blind to not see that? That’s why you downscale, because levels DON’T MATTER at all, you should ignore them, it’s all about skill. The point of the game isn’t to level up, it’s to play the game, why are you so stuck on thinking that everything revolves around this one silly number?
Yeah this daily seems to be creating more trouble than fun, it simply has to go.
I agree, something needs to be changed there.
I noticed this usually happens when trying to pick up objects while running. Since then I learned not to and always pick up objects while standing still, and I have never again experienced this bug since then.
A couple of people complained about Human female Arah Heavy armor and A.net immediately drew in some grandma panties and covered up the handboob. Not quite sure where I was going with this, maybe just pointing out how easily they’ll change things for a few.
Changing armor skins is hardly redesigning the core of the game and completely changing up what makes Guild Wars 2…well… Guild Wars 2.
+1 to this, only rare and up, and a bit more noticeable.
Yes you can already buy them, here’s how: buy gems, convert them into gold, buy from TP, easy as that. Like Kilrain said, only about 1000000 gems :P
Hello ArenaNet, I would like to thank you for making such an excellent and unique game. Yes, we all know it’s not perfect, there’s still a lot of work to be done to make it truly amazing, however you are on the right path from which you should not steer.
My suggestion to you is: Be very careful who you listen to here about suggestions for improving Guild Wars 2. I find that many of the suggestions found in this subforum are plain dumb and will make Guild Wars 2, if implemented, just another MMO like any other on the market. Do not add mounts(you already have waypoints), do not remove level scaling (the most brilliant design concept of any game so far), create content that rewards good coordinated team work over solo play (yes solo should be an option, but not everywhere, MMOs are supposed to be played with other people, remember you are not making a single player RPG here, your mission here is to make antisocial people more social), do not add automatic dungeon finders that avoid social interactions, do not make combat easier (easy is not fun and therefore isn’t satisfying), do not make the ENTIRE range of the content you offer casual friendly (yes hardcore players need something as well, but the solution aren’t so called “raids” aka 40man dungeons – instead it’s accessible challenge and raids only bring more barriers to the table), do not ever let people play the interface instead of the game itself, do not make karma just another monetary currency which people can trade (instead give us more ways to earn it and more ways to use it), don’t listen to people saying there is no “end game” because your entire game is “end game” so just make more content in the same way as you did so far, don’t make dailies carry over to another day, do not add more levels which will ruin balance, do not add stronger tiers of gear (the game shouldn’t be about becoming the strongest, it should be about experiencing different scenarios and emotions, solving problems and helping people) the list goes on and on.
So many suggestions here in the forums that only destroy and sabotage your great philosophy and core concepts about making a great and unique game like no other. Don’t cater to people that only want higher numbers, those that only focus on accumulating high amounts of currency instead of living and smelling the roses in your world.
Bottom line, you cannot please everyone, no matter how many people come and cry to you to remake certain parts of your unique game, you must persist with your ideology and simply ignore them. My worst fear is that you will eventually succumb to their pleas in order to simply have more players because of profit. It is evident that these people simply want to play another game, so simply let them, they have quite a number of other MMOs that have those exact features, so whatever you do don’t make your game an exact clone of those. If there’s any game out there you should be copying it’s your other masterpiece Guild Wars.

Did you try guesting to see if maybe it would appear on another server?
Like pluzoid said, automatic dungeon finders are a very bad idea. Anyway, Anet already said they are making a new system for this so its just a matter of time now.
+1
Also maybe add an option to toggle it off if individuals don’t like it for whatever reason.
You’re completely missing the point, the point of the game isn’t to level up, it’s to actually play the game. Leveling up shouldn’t make you stronger, it just opens more options to customize your play style.
It also heavily depends on your items that you have, if you are fully exotic, ofc you will steamroll every mob in a level 10 zone because level 10 player cannot have exotic items at that early point in the game. Yes you are downscaled to level 10, but you are still a level 10 player with multiple exotics, hence why you have higher stats than an average player that would actually need to fight those mobs at that point. Exotic items only appear after level 60+, so mobs in low level zones are designed to be taken on with green items.
Also, by being a level 80 in a level 10 zone for example, you actually do get level 80 weapon drops now instead of level 10 items.
People are so ignorant. Do you think the person that made this thread want the mount for the speed buff?
Then he whould make a thread more like: More swiftness spells in the game
The people that want mounts want it mostly for the cosmetic thing.
And why is there a problem on adding this ?
Ugh, imagine people using mounts in jumping puzzles, HELL NO! I have enough trouble with those norns and charrs clogging up my screen. Speed or cosmetic, I don’t care, just no mounts, it will only create more frustration for people that actually want to play the game.
The camera cannot be fixed, they have already explained this numerous times. The only thing they can do is to design the new JPs to be less claustrophobic so that the camera won’t twitch as much.
Wow…so they made a camera that is fail from the beginning with no way to fix it?
Im not even talking JP’s…Im talking about so many areas running in caves etc etc where the camera has a mind of its own… Camera bounces in and out like a slinky…has a mind of its own…its just terrible imo…only place its decent is in an open area…even then it dont zoom out much…there should be a zoom like what the mad king zone had.
No first person view either…
I just dont understand why they would make it this way…Im sure they had to have seen how terrible it was from the start? Even GW1 has a better camera …
sigh…
The camera was changed just before GW2 launched to fix camera issues with it not properly detecting walls, it would often rotate behind walls and you would be able to look at what lies beneath and around the world, so yeah this new camera was needed.
As for first person point of views, they also explained that as well. It is not possible to have a first person camera in this game because for starters, the weapons and skills weren’t designed to be viewed from such a perspective. Unlike in other MMOs (which have fps camera) in GW2 you don’t just stand still during combat and spam attacks, yes WoW has fps camera, but it doesnt have jumping 180 degrees summersaults, or those 10 sec spinning tornado attacks, how do you think those would translate into fps mode?
The 6 town portals should be just 1 portal, instead of having the LA portal in sPvP and WvW, which then has the other 5 portals, there should only ever be 1 Asura Gate that asks you to which town you would like to port when entering, this would reduce clutter that would be created if all 5 portals were to be placed in say sPvP lobby.
I am not sure they can just add a compass because the mini-map is useful for parties. You can draw lines and ping on the mini-map so you can coordinate better with the team mates. Besides, it also shows up the party members as blue dots so you can see them where they are even outside of the mini-map range.
I would just make an option there in the mini-map to show/hide it or turn it into a compass for these who want it, but I wouldn’t take it out completely
For the other “quests” appearing in top right, I agree with Onshidesigns.1069. Make a hide / unhide quest drawers horizontally, in which only the “icons” and “level requirement” will appear. If players want to open them, they can do it
GW1 had a rotating compass on which you were able to “draw” and see others “draw” and there were no problems with it at all. Why? Because the usual useful stuff someone would have to draw were simple arrows or circles to mark a path or a group of mobs. You’re not gonna use it to demonstrate your 25 minute-long masterplan, so orientation doesn’t really matter.
First thing, making your point into a wall of text isn’t helping your cause because nobody will bother reading it if you present it like that. Secondly, yes I agree we should have some way to decide the stats of our Legendary. I mean they are Legendary after all, it would be nice if we could even change their stats to match our build without transmutation stones at all.
1. Please use the search function and do not create a new topic about something that is already being discussed in 100+ other threads
2. No, mounts are pointless, we already have waypoints, and every class has swiftness buffs
So guys don’t compare real life with game. In Tyria we all are solders and we serve for Tyria.
Wrong, we are soldiers only in the last part of the story in the assault on Orr, everything up to that point can be viewed as being simple adventurers.
Yep that’s certainly annoying, I want this change as well.
You already can, by holding down alt and then clicking on the map multiple players can place down their individual waypoints that can also be shared in a party.
That was designed like that on purpose to prevent spamming and exploiting skills. If they didn’t share cooldowns, you could really abuse elite skills and such, especially in pvp maps with water.
People still play with their own names floating above their heads? Why? You know what your name is, and you know where you always are – in the center of the screen, so why exactly do people play with this toggled on?
Those are the other fractal maps, you can make out the dredge one and the charr one.
I don’t think the problem is in the button itself, it can be useful sometimes. However I think the window that appears after clicking it should be red, so people are aware what it is and don’t accidentally mistake it for the completion window.
You’re not the only one, I lost it as well. They have noted this and will fix it eventually.
I saw the same thing on Gandara, in pretty much the exact same place, it was really weird. I might be some glitched npc there going about a rampage with these turrets that never seem to expire.
There are 2 new waypoints that were added to the world with the latest patch. Both are in Orr, one at the bottom of Cursed Shore, and the other one in Straits of Devastation in the western part I believe. Did you get those?
They won’t raise the level cap, ever. It would destroy the balance, and most of the game would have to be reworked over again. New expansions will only add new races and classes. As for exp after 80, it’s fine, I like my skills, I need them, a lot of them, even after reaching 80. If you aren’t interested in crafting items in the forge, that means you are ignoring the forge, in that case just ignore the extra skill points you get as well.
The camera cannot be fixed, they have already explained this numerous times. The only thing they can do is to design the new JPs to be less claustrophobic so that the camera won’t twitch as much.
I agree, the ending isn’t satisfying at all, Zhaitan needs a second phase of some sort.
If he keeps dying, I will be kicking him because he is holding back the group and he won’t know how he died because I don’t have time to bother explaining to new players.
Great mentality there bud! You do realize everyone has a first time at some point.
Yes as a warrior I also prefer 2x swords over greatswords, the amount of bleeding you can do not only makes up for smaller numbers, but also makes it really easy to rally. If anything, I think 2h weapons could use a boost to make them on par :P
There’s a TON of events out there already that can only be triggered by players, I’m surprised you never stumbled onto any so far. Most of the escort quests are always started by players, do you think NPCs will just blindly stroll down a dangerous path without some sort of protection beforehand? These are maked with a glowing event orb above their head, and the usually turn to you for help saying something like “Hey could you help me?” to every passing player until one accepts and starts an event for everyone to participate.
The whole point of karma is that unlike gold it is not trade-able. It’s not something that you own per se, it’s your own personal renown that you gain by completing events. Basically, the more you interact with the world, help npcs and such, you become more popular, hence why they offer you rewards in return. Trading popularity across characters doesn’t seem logical at all. Also, it is easy to transfer huge amounts of karma as it is, I’m almost always only playing my warrior, and I stash every karma jug and drop I get from both dungeons and dailies so that when I get to play my elementalist he can get a nice little boost.
I agree that your idea won’t really hurt anything in the game, especially not economy, but it’s not really about that, it’s basically just about principle, about roleplaying your character, as you play them they become heroes and more popular, that’s the purpose of karma, about making them more special and unique because they went out there, traveled the world, helped people all across the land, and in turn got something in return, popularity.
I do agree that over time it just boiled down to inconvenient currency, but we just have to accept it as a uniquely designed currency.
Popularity? Where? Karma does not translate into anything like that. Show me an example where you felt more popular because of the amount of Karma you earned.
It don’t make sense karma isn’t account bound like all other in game currencies, I can understand the idea behind what you’re saying but in practice, it’s meaningless.OP, if you plan on getting Legendary Weapon, you can swap karma for Obsidian shards at the Temple of Balthazar karma trader and the Obi shards are account bound so any alt can do that to use up their karma, that’s what i did anyway. However if you don’t intend to go for leg. weap. then yea something what you’re suggesting could be useful, but frankly it would be much simpler if they just made it account wide. I mean when it comes to your account, who cares which alt has earned what? They’re all your alts and are all working for one account.
It’s your characters popularity toward NPCs in the game, they have heard stories about you being brave and so they offer you rewards, that’s why Karma is character bound not account bound. I’m completely against turning karma account wide as that completely destroys the whole point and concept behind it and just provides us with a secondary gold-esque currency. Karma is here so you can feel closer with tyria and have some sort of a connection with it and its people, if you can’t realize that then you never look for beauty in anything. But you obviously don’t care about roleplay or immersing yourself in the world, having fun with it, with people like you effectiveness is always the only priority you acknowledge, min-maxing each second of your time spend in the game just for the sake of being “leet”, the strongest and the fastest or whatever.
It’s fine as it is and does not need changing, also AoE itself will be getting a nerf, 1h weapons are already 2x faster than 2h weapons, I really don’t see where the issue is.
I’m with you there, especially with PoIs, however I would like a different solution, like adding more stuff to the world that isn’t marked on the map at all so we can actually explore something for ourselves.
