You could also hit up Ruru, Timcrusher, Dr Diddle, Glitterkitty, Mixx Soldier, Wooz, Mariticide, Seraphina … etc etc or anyone with the [KAOS] tag over their head for information/invite.
Our current goal is to put together a fairly regular 10 man where we can run some havoc and assist larger guilds when a call comes out through TS.
Just have the sword leap, GS 3 and GS 5 require a target. If they are gap “closers” make them that, not escapes.
Even if they made it like that, what’s stopping me from aiming at a bunny far away and hit War GS #5 to get away?
Not to mention that would just limit “smart play”.
I hate having 1500 range and see a warrior go away unkilled as much as everyone else, but I hate nerfs even more than that.
How is it a nerf making a gap closer work as a gap closer? And nothing would stop you from switching targets to something the opposite direction, but at the very least it would make it less of an issue and slow the straight line escape that it’s being used for currently.
[KAOS] Killing As Organized Sport is holding open recruitment on Anvil Rock WvW.
About the guild:
The guild was created by roamers for roamers. As time has gone on, we have become a fairly recognizable tag in the Anvil Rock WvW scene. Basically we are are mature guild(using the term loosely) that likes to get out in WvW mix it up and have some fun.
Things we are not:
We do not consider ourselves an “elite” WvW guild. We go out, we fight, and sometimes we win, sometimes we don’t. We don’t get hung up on losing fights, we try and learn from them.
We are not exclusive. You want to play a ranger? We’ll work it in and find a way to make it work. We don’t try to mold play style, but we may offer suggestions/advice if you ask for it.
We don’t have drama, it’s a game after all. No reason to take things personally.
What we do have:
Some extremely skilled players that USUALLY leave their egos in check.
Good communication/adaptation to situational changes.
Regular core players throughout the day.
TS3, we don’t require it, but we do recommend it.
Web site. Someone has to run anvilrockserver.com.
A few guild bonuses here and there. We figure if you choose to rep, no reason you shouldn’t get a little extra MFind
No rep requirement/raid requirements. Players have real lives, and that needs to be respected.
If you are looking for a solid core WvW group on Anvil Rock hit me up either through /w or in game mail.
Solid guild, good players. From the outside looking in, they look like they are more than willing to help where help is needed. Worth looking into if you enjoy the PvP/WvW aspects of the game. Maybe PvE stuffs too, but I couldn’t tell you, I just heard about this Living Story stuff a week ago.
Just have the sword leap, GS 3 and GS 5 require a target. If they are gap “closers” make them that, not escapes.
I see that DR can not even find their way to a tower without siege.
Ah, be nice. Aside from this being a terrible use of time, supply, and manpower, as well as siege capping the map for their server, it’s something to look at…
All of the game modes are easily found on AR, coming from strong PvP roots, the small squad and roaming community flourished here. Most players know their classes. Players and guilds adapt fairly quickly as the flow of battle changes. We generally we see quick transitions between offensive and defensive play. Our militia is working hard and learningnew tricks from older veterans. If you are looking for what WvW is supposed to be, AR is a pretty good choice.
Ah yeah, been on AR since pre release. If someone is play acting as me though, that isn’t cool.
Hey Dovgan, after coming into DR teamspeak last night i did go ahead and ban you . Just FYI.
Sorry to disappoint, I wasn’t in the DR TS, nor do I know the address.
Is that anything like a sharknado? If so…the terror!
There’s no place like home.
And we are keeping pace with a few of the contenders for the throne in Bronze right now, so if you are looking to be a contender, AR may not be a bad place to hang your hat.
No doubt about it, fights are close and the match ups in Bronze promise to be as up and down as they were last season. It’s really anyone’s ball game in the Bronze League! Maps tend to be fast paced, good for organized guilds play and roamers alike. Anvil Rock has some of the best of both worlds, and is training for the season, hoping to put in a surprise showing just like last season (I’m talking to all of you who said AR would be dead last).
If you are a fighting guild, this is definitely the server for you.
I’ve been on AR since Beta. We have gone through a lot of heavy changes since the beginning. But I have never seen an AR group run away. And some fights go on for a long time, especially with even up to +50% on the other side. We can turn a group, like we turned our position in the standings in WvW. If you guys want to get on a server where you will definitely dominate your opposition, Come and check out AR. Check out the fun…
No one ever told us running away was an option.
Nothing like good fights and close matches. AR get’s a lot of opportunities for both.
Over the last few weeks, some really good close competitive match ups on AR. Lots of fights pretty much all over. Tired of the higher tiers and impending season queues? You should give AR a look.
We are having a great back and forth match up the whole week. And these “bags with legs” are currently holding that slim lead. GG and GF.
Doors don’t fight back.
Don’t kid yourself. PPT is about who can cap and hold objectives, and who can cover those better, either by communication(if server numbers are even) or numbers. You are doing it with numbers, what happens when you hit a server that matches them? When we can occupy 15+ with 4 players for over 20 minutes and keep sending them back to the WP something isn’t right. The only thing that finally moved us a few days ago was when OHai joined in and helped out. You should be thankful you have them on DR.
Coming to another recruitment thread and bashing a server would be like me posting videos on how “good” DR does against us when we run small groups on the DR thread.
What a lot of other tiers are not aware of is the population imbalances in the lower tiers are extreme. Many of the servers in the bottom 3 tiers have plenty of manpower but lack the basic tools to do well outside the tier they are in. We have seen servers with well above the population we saw in T5 in T6-T8, but they are generally players who want to feel better about their ability by avoiding the PvP in WvW until they greatly outnumber. Not saying it’s the wrong way to win vs. lower populations, it works fine. It just becomes a stumbling block when these groups run into servers with numbers to match.
You don’t have that on Anvil Rock(for the most part). Most players and guilds here will actively seek out fights, enjoy the challenge of holding off and/or beating greater numbers(we have been doing it since the BP/EB campaign) and take pride in doing so.
If you are a guild or player looking to make a jump, you like to mix it up, are looking for more than just yourself to charge headlong into insane odds, then this is the place for you. If you want to make a name for yourself or your guild, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a zerg to hide behind and a free ride, there are other options out there.
T1 is completely different to when SoS was up here, not that SoS isn’t too far off from returning to T1.
Pugs are much better organised, players in general are much more aware of what’s expected of them. It’s hard to quantify the difference
It’s not really that much different from what I saw during S1 of the league, but admittedly I only played a few weeks in gold before ducking out. The GWEN meta has fully evolved, people are much better better about using the WP timer for keep defense (“organized”), PvD paper to push PPT when it’s even, and try to push harder stuff when you have coverage advantage. I’m sure every player on a lower tier is shaking in their boots at how advanced this is.
Sorry, not trying to attack you, but with this curve ball anet has thrown before S2 begins, players deserve to hear both sides if they have even faintest desire to transfer to one of the big 3 gold league servers.
Hmm..in addition to those, commanders in t1 communicate not only within the same map but across maps constantly to report enemy movements and whether a significant force has moved in or out of a map. Pushes in maps or reinforcement are called based on these information. Cross map pushes can be organized to serve as distraction for a major push on a major objective. Dedicated scouts are present at most if not all major objectives. Dedicated havoc squads from servers fight over bloodlust constantly.
Overall I just feel the amount of organization has just became much better compared to the days when SOS was still in t1 .
So basically like every other tier, just with more queue time and skill lag.
I’ve found their zerg. They have 7.
(Not my picture, I’m at work, but representative.)
May be an exaggeration, looks more like 3-5 with a couple of pets / minions
Looks like 7. More or less it’s always 7.
If anything, we have worked extremely hard to be “that server” and “that WvW community” and it has taken a lot of time and patience. If anything transfer over and meet some of the server patriots who make every day out there a fun day to play. I am proud to be a member of this community.
“How many in the enemy zerg?”
Who knows the answer AR?
100% this guy is a legend. 10/10 for effort 1/10 for making ALS look kitten again.
Himself yes, we still like you old ALS guys/gals just fine.
lol @ the arrogance of
“While scouting AR in preparation for our return we found the current teamspeak inadequate and we have set up a raid call for the server. We expect that guilds will comply with this new VoIP or they will receive little cooperation from us. "
Glad I’m not on AR
It’s a troll from a guild that fell apart after it left Anvil Rock. I guess it’s supposed to be funny. ALS had some really good people in it when it was on AR, it also had a few trolls. Certain members of ALS I wouldn’t mind seeing again, but I sincerely doubt that’s something in the cards. Snarky posts and poor form are two things I do not miss on AR. The OP has plenty of options if he has found DB doesn’t suit him, but AR has grown as a community and doesn’t want or need this kind of ridiculousness. When ALS members came into AR TS a while back begging players to transfer to DB, we let it pass. This kind of stupidity I can’t let pass.
I was supportive of you when you left for DB, I still support your decision.
The thing I think I like most about anvil Rock, and I would assume most low tier servers, is the ability for one player or a small group to have a huge impact. My guild is an old guild on AR and I have seen the ups and downs a server can have and stuck it out because the WvW community while small, is generally consistent and fun to play with
Can some days be tough? Not going to lie, there are days I want to throw my computer out the window, but the good times outweigh the bad many times over.
Yeah, I know KAOS only comes out to play when there is something worth fighting. Fighting is fairly stale with GoM tending to stay as close to their zergball as possible. Because of that, we haven’t been doing much more than our normal nightly 2-3 man runs raising a little havoc, avoiding the friendly zerg, and dropping in when they need a hand.
The question could be posed, why AR over other servers. Here is what I can tell you. The community is receptive to change, and will generally welcome new players into the fight. The militia on AR is second to none, these players fight like it’s their last, every fight. Organized guild groups here are quite good, but few and far between. Communication could be improved, but there is a server wide TS and web site for the AR community, so it’s being worked on. Relatively moldable player base on AR, lots of new people out on the field, most willing to change and adapt for a better AR. Lots of fun to be had, generally good fights all through the day. People that say lower tiers are dead haven’t played on lower tiers.
I started running this build when they introduced dire gear, and have been tweaking it a long for awhile. It’s not as regen or pet oriented as the apothecary/BM builds, but fun to play if you enjoy the playstyle. (This does require some solid pet management, if you aren’t on top of your pets status, I don’t recommend this type of build.) You can trade out the undead runes for perplexity, I just didn’t find it all that useful.
Pro’s :
More stability access (almost 40 seconds per 120)
Solid Condition damage
Use of 2 fields to work with in solo/small group play
Extraordinary toughness and good vitality
6 second invulnerability per 80 seconds (swapping Beastmaster’s Bond for Signet Mastery drops it to under 65 seconds) Some days I like the might, some days I like the recharge.
Good field control through pet abilities.
Con’s :
Careful pet management
Condi removal can be tough on heavy spam classes(welcome to ranger)
Limited ability to disengage
Lower burst potential/crit chance (not something we as ranger do all that well anyway)
Lack of a stun break (why there isn’t one on Signet of Stone or Signet of the Wild is beyond me).
Feel free to play around with it, tweak it to your liking, move skills around. I enjoy seeing what players come up with.
8 second fire field, 10 second water field both on reasonable cd’s. 2 second immobilize per 16 seconds(if specced for it) easy swap to fear group buffs etc. AoE vigor, good source of regen. Honestly I don’t think a lot of the “rangers” know what rangers can do. I was talking to another player the other day, an experienced WvWer that had no idea rangers had as much access as they do to these things.
Problem generally stems from PvE players trying to cross their PvE style/build into WvW.
8 second fire field. – And? Ele and engineer both do fire fields better, just for the fact they do more AoE damage, and can escape better.
10 second water field. – Point blank water field you mean. So you want the Ranger to roll with the heavy melee train, right? Sure build them tanky and watch them hit like a wet noodle, or build them dps style and watch them melt with weak coni clear, looong cooldown stability, and med armor. Again Ele can do it better at range, and more than one, and provide damage that trumps Rangers.
Regen. - Engi does regen better for a group, so does Guard, and is much better all around for a group.
AoE Vigor – Warrior warhorn 5 skill says hello.
Nothing you point out makes the Ranger class better, sorry. You can be in denial and try hard to come up with “reasons” for a Ranger to be picked over another class, aside from single roaming, and you will always come up short. Where are the good WvW guilds that have this class in their setups? Show me please.
Face it, Anet dropped the ball with the class, and seems to not have a clue how to get it on track.
So you are saying all you need are 3 separate classes to do the same thing 1 class can do? Got it..
That sounds clever….. if you completely ignore all the other stuff those 3 classes can do.
I can technically fire a gun, and I can also speak some French.
If you were invading France (with 2 people, should be easy), would you choose to take 2 of me, or would you take a trained soldier and a professional translator?
But I can do both!! Why you take 2 people, one who can’t speak french and the other who can’t fire a gun, when you could just take me?? WHY YOU NO WANT ME??
Honestly, I would take 2 of you. It’s France for God’s sake. You don’t even have to be good with a gun.
So you are saying all you need are 3 separate classes to do the same thing 1 class can do? Got it..
If one class (Ranger) can do something that 3 classes can do, why are there not more WvW guilds using them over Ele, War, Guard, Necro, etc. etc. ???
You can make witty comments, or actually enlighten us naysayers by showing something beyond “nu-uh” comments. Or do you not have any?
The answer is actually pretty simple. Out of the box the ranger class is one of the easiest to get going, strap on a bear and “pew-pew” from a distance, and easy meta. As you go into WvW the meta changes quite a bit. With the change in overall playstyle, the learning curve increases exponentially. So why do players tend to choose other classes over ranger, simple answer is that they are easier to play, not necessarily better, just easier.
As far as “nu-uh” comments, the only one that made any was you. I was merely pointing out rangers have access to a lot of viable skills, and when played well, can compete just fine. If you personally have a reason to dislike the class and feel the need to spew negative propaganda about it, that is your prerogative.

Close match dictates no Fight Club for us, then again, I prefer the close match up.
Just a reminder, if you “fight club” in WvW WAR/MERC will kill you where you stand. PvP has its place, and it is not in WvW… So, take your chances…
An arena was put in Obs Sanc for a reason, if [WAR/MERC] decides to come there to disrupt a “fight club” or any GvG, questions about it’s character will be raised.
Maybe you should pop on in and see why players come down and test out builds and group dynamics. ANet put an arena in Obs because players wanted to be able to do things like test builds, group compositions, and strategy outside the PvP meta. If the match is primarily decided by Thursday, there will be a fight club and I recommend that WAR/MERC comes down and checks it out. You may find it enlightening.Let me clarify. Obs Sanc is a different story. I am speaking of those outside in the field of battle, and especially those that “door knock” our keeps from time to time to gain our attention. Pulling the Zerg in response to swords only to find fight clubbing is an unwanted distraction. PvP in Obs all you want, knock yourself out. Don’t throw down your red herring “character” card in the forum like that. It is beneath you.
As I previously stated it would be in Obs Sanc when I posted. You didn’t clarify your post, so of course hitting a FC in Obs Sanc would raise a few eyebrows. Nothing more. I try to make these things very clear when I post them.

Took reset night off (because I am lazy) and come back to find the same matchup as last week. Anet … you’re killing me. Well, here are to more fun fights! Since we are going into a second week, I’ll try and set up a Thursday Night Fight Night. Let me know if this is something you guys are interested in.
I’m down fa sure.
Well, Thursday after 5pm server time as long as the match isn’t painfully close in the Obs Sanc arena. We’ll see for sure as the week goes on.

As a former AR from beta (left a couple months after the exodus) what I would like to know is, Does AR have a latenight presence between 10pm – 5 am EST ? I ask because I loved AR but because of my play time and the exodus I was left with no one to play with.
Coming back would be nice but at the same point I’m not willing to do it if I’m going to be roaming solo. I would be willing to command during these hours on weekends and 1-2 nights during the week but, if I’m going to be commanding 5 people lets face it, its just not going to be fun.
In all honesty, that is the time frame that Anvil Rock seems to be running the strongest in right now. Our N/A is considerable lighter than our SEA/OCE time frames, although it seems to be improving a little during NA prime, it could be better. We actually have seen a few queues here and there as well, which, up to a few months ago, were nonexistent even on reset nights. With the addition of a server wide TS that players are actually using, we are making strides to get on track.
Oh snap this is crazy lol. Is AR ready to play with FC/Dh? Time will tell!
Honestly, from an AR standpoint, not to diminish all that has been accomplished by the server, the answer is no, but we are getting better. Regardless of the lead AR holds right now, many players are “done for the week”. To compete at a higher level, AR as a server can’t have this level of complacency. Maybe that will change in the next few weeks, but what AR needs right now is a solid loss to get a few players heads on straight. As always, great fights, see you folks on the battlefield.
I think the ppt window broke guise. Halp me.
No, but one of your armor pieces is damaged. Happy Thursday!
To the folks that are trying to put controversy into this thread. Every server here has had it’s ups and downs, every server here has been in T8. Letting a kitten sit in a toilet the longest doesn’t turn it into a gold bar. It’s just a wet kitten . Every server in this match up has really great, positive things going for it, and lots of room for improvement as well. We all have days we play better than others, the days where everything goes flawlessly. Those are not the days we learn how to get better. I know players come here, sometimes in the heat of the moment, and post all kinds of silliness(that goes for all servers).
We here in anvil rock do not have the right to talk about our solid defenses in the borderland if we let a 20 man kaineng force take everything but hills without anyone in ar event checking it out. Thank god I was eating breakfast and checked my phone or hills would’ve been lost too. This is why people in ar need to stop acting like we are an amazing force. We are doing good, don’t get me wrong, but we have some moments where we are and or will become very vulnerable in tier 7 and tier 6. Also do realize that sf is not trying hard this week likely due to a rough season. I expect the next match up to be a lot closer between us.
Aw man, I was asleep after a 4am upgrading run on our BL. They wiped out my Bay upgrades, had just gotten that fortified before I passed out.
Well, have had some fun encounters on the field and in OSanctum so far this match up. Hope the rest of the week brings more of the same from all three servers. All servers deserve a chance to take a week off and regroup, the last seven weeks were stressful, I am sure, for all servers that were involved.
Looking forward to more fun out there on the battlefield.
For AR: WAR – MERC is recruiting WvW adult players. We are one of AR’s oldest and best know guilds (for good or bad). Adults only in WAR and we require full time account rep with ALL characters. MERC is WAR’s part time auxillary for WvW players from other PvE guilds who want to run strong in WvW.
WAR – MERC hosts the server Teamspeak (300 slots), and ALL guilds are provided private channels. Multiple Commander channels, organized assaults across BL’s.
If you do NOT have a guild, whisper Commander Buffalo/Battlemaster of War in game and join today. We NEED you in WvW…
WAR – MERC will be running in WvW all weekend… One team, one fight.
Don’t forget a large dose of drama… for someone talking about server unity all the time you sure have a funny way of showing it lol.
Server unity? that picture sound like a hostile take over by the bandwagoner’s
Well, I think that things similar to this happen quite a bit on every server. Fact is that we are playing a game with hundreds of other people, and not everyone is going to get along all the time. Band wagon + Anvil Rock is an oxymoron though, unless you are referring to the wagon trains that left the server months ago.
It saddens me to see drama of any kind from any server, especially between two groups sent in a PM publicized. I’m fairly sure if all of the /w were, you would see a far different side to many many servers. On top of that, many times text can be taken fairly far our of context, just look at these forums for prime examples, and of course harsh words between two conflicting personalities can sometimes escalate far beyond what was actually being presented.
A lot of players take pride in what they do in WvW, and when they are put into question, conversations like that happen on occasion. Just surprised to see it here and not being dealt with on our own forums.
Been at work 20 of the last 24 hours and cannot wait to get home and play .. sleep .. I’m undecided at the moment.
Unfortunately had to go to work mid reset. Looks like you are having a good time.
Side note, I have to remember to ignore the trolls.
Don’t expect to be underestimated a 2nd time :p
-Mummies R Us
This was the biggest advantage AR had the last 4 weeks, and I think AR knows that. It was the server that was supposed to be in last place. Absolutely no one we fought thought we were any threat. Most of us knew we would be weathering the storm every reset night, but it’s something we have become accustom to(our resets have always been fairly light). Put a few well placed oceanic players into the mix and some folks staying awake trying to complete a meta that should have been done weeks ago, and the result is what we have now. Coming off a tough match doesn’t help any Bronze Tier server either. All in all the match was well fought by everyone, so no complaints. GoM is a tough server, we knew that going in, and I don’t expect any less than a tough server in the future.
Good fights, good fun. We’ll see you on the battlefield.
So you are admitting to using a game exploit. On a side note. We have talked to a couple of brl members and brl does not support this kind of behavior. Good to see that this may just be 1 exploiting Mesmer instead of a guild/server supporting exploits.
I’m just happy this exploiter only accomplished to do so on paper keeps. So with this logic is hitting through the door an exploit as well? I have even been piked through a door as well.
Seriously you’re complaining about us taking our own stuff back. stop being mad and remember it is only pixels.
Actually, it is. They are all clear LoS exploits, if you can’t see it you should get the same message every ranged player knows and loves when a blade of grass gets between you and the enemy .. obstructed. Just because a class can blink through the map and portal everyone to the lords room of a fully fortified keep doesn’t make it less of an exploit because all you use are in game skills you are given (ANet finally fixed that, thank god), or because you can buy karma gear for well under what it should cost and make a crazy profit that it’s OK to do it(think early game bans). But not only is it a LoS exploit, it’s just not classy. One of our mesmers was caught doing it, was explained why we don’t do it, and it hasn’t happened since.
Just report them and the person doing the rezzing if it is happening repeatedly. This is actually a LoS exploit and they’ll get a 72 hour vacation for it.
What is this, a KAOS chat thread now?
No no, lets talk about [TFH] now shall we?
