Used to be very conscious playing as a character of opposite gender but I kind of stopped really caring about it much. To me it all boils down to what you prefer to play as rather than what gender you are irl. I just play or use what I enjoy.

With regards to balance, the only thing I want to be able to use are just the weapon skills and not the utilities and other new mechanics found on the other specs. Sure it may pose a problem with regards to balancing it will at the very least add more flavor in terms of playstyle and customization for all classes.

Well, anet can just allow f2p players to be able to play elite specs in spvp only but they won’t be able to play in ranked games.

However, anet can also make the f2p players buy certain items in the gemstore or give these players a kind of currency they can trade in for time to play in ranked.

Your second suggestion would permit our beloved game to get a F2P status without the P2W or B2W reputation that our game have right now.

More… gemstore is always a premium compare to B2P, so like I exposed earlier paying 90$ to unlock all HoT specialization would be good, into the F2P model.

F2P players pay more when they want and need to. It’s a freedom that cost more than the B2P model. but… the keyword here is, F2P is 10x larger in player base.

I really miss those 3 seconds queue time (with a premade…).

It would also be a good idea to give free to play players the option to “rent” game time to play HoT expansion features without having to buy the expansion or just buy the expansion.

I have been thinking about this ever since the Reaper elite spec came out. The necromancer playstyle revolves around being able to juggle in and out of death shroud. We’re only able to enter either Reaper Shroud or Death Shroud if we choose to use the Reaper Elite Spec or not. So, why not allow necromancers to get access to the base Death Shroud even if we choose Reaper Elite Spec? How? F1 for base death shroud, F2 for elite specced shroud.

Not only would this open up a lot of gameplay possibilities but would make the necromancer even more interesting to play as. It also allows necromancers to be a bit more versatile as they can pick either shroud form depending on the situation.

What do you guys think? Why should it be a thing or why not?

I don’t think that having an itchy trigger finger is enough of a reason to give DS a .25 or .5 sec delay. What that will do is only make it feel sluggish.

I don’t agree with the OP. Popping in and out of DS to proc some traits had been inherent in some necro builds for a long time now and this is also a part of playing necro. it is a l2p issue.

you can just ignore the trash some people spout up about you though. almost every player you see in a game where pvp is present would throw insults straight to your face. my advise would be to go offline or turn off chat. or punch someone in the face the next day. =)

Same here. Only used the trait when I did the Queen’s Gauntlet events and bosses. I sometimes use this trait when doing pve and other stuff but found it quite underwhelming unlike XII and XI. I can say that dealing aoe bleeds with marks, scepter 2, dagger 5, DS 5 and epidemic works nicely with this trait.

Please help!

I’ve been having trouble trying to access the website and the forums via google chrome with my desktop computer, however, I can access it by using other browsers. Also, I’ve been unable to access the trading post for almost 2 months now.

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling google chrome, cleared cookies and caches. But it would still direct me to a website saying “Cannot connect to the real forum-en.guildwars2.com” SSL error.

As for the trading post issue, I already tried deleting the local.dat file located in the temp folder.

Your videos are not only informative with regards to playing the necromancer, it also gave me insight and understanding to game mechanics.

Having watched your video made me try to run and use your build. While i do feel that dhuumfire helps in overall dps, it is easily countered by cleanses. However, if dhuumfire procs and their cleanses had all been used up it just does high dps. I’m not decided as to which trait is better but using dhuumfire on a power build seems ok for me.

I use 30/25/0/0/15 as a roaming build in wvw using full zerks, dagger/warhorn staff. My utilities are WoS/Wurm/SW. Main key for this build is to use warhorn 4, then dagger 3, move in DS, cast DS 5, move out of DS, cast WoS, then dagger away. Problem with that combo is that those classes which utilizes porting can escape from the burst.

Trying out your build it felt more like the brunt of the damage comes from using LB and that remaining in DS for a while is key to it. I did like the fact that i’m surviving more by using your build over mine and i’m able to sustain my lifeforce easily with your build. It’s just that i kind of miss flashing ds in out. Very nice build and video. =)

I’ve been doing level 49 fractals with my necro using full zerkers w/o any problems at all. Having wells as my utilities using a power build is good enough for doing aoe damage on mobs when stacking. Also, knowing when to use well of corruption to remove buffs off mobs can be helpful. Flesh Wurm can also be a good utility depending on the fractal you are in.

So i was wonderimg since there are times when we have ds on cd and we have 10% hp left what do we do to survive? When this happens we die. What sucks is we may still have plenty of lifeforce yet however, we cannot go into ds as it is pn cd.

However, what if we have a class skill that allows us to utilize left over lifeforce and turn it into hp?

Null field removes and conditions similar to the necro’z well of power. What really sucks is we still lack tools that allows us to survive high bursts.

With this patch it would seem that going for a more offensive playstyle can benefit necros more. In pvp that is. Pve, we can just face the ground more…..

So why are necro’s buffed more for offense but our defensive capabilities get nerfed… weren’t necros meant to be a defensive attrition based class or necros are being changed to be more of an offensive caster type class?

Right. I always assumed that with greater marks, it doubles the marks’ radius aa lich form marks doubled in size as well. I guess the reason for this would be the a mount of unblockable aoe’s that necros gained access to…

I am however mourning for the death shroud nerf…. sad sad day.

Well of power also converts conditions on you too. As a stun break it is useful however, unlike spectral walk or spectral armor, you won’t be able to cast it at the moment you are knocked back. You can however cast it as soon as your char lays steady on the ground.

For me, the necros is the jack of all trades profession. They can be used as support, high dps burst, or as condi damage dealers, or as tanks. But what makes the necromancer class unique is how they handle conditions. Necro pretty much use conditions as their toys, mainly by transferring them to foes, absprbing them from allies, using them as a heal buffer, or transform them to boons.

I also get same bug as well. If you use stakitten mark then go into deatshroud and quickly press 3 skill, cd procs but not the fear. This has been happening to me since last month.

Really depends on your preference. If you prefer to destroy people or mobs quickly you go for power builds. Condition builds take a bit longer to kill stuff, but using it against other players can sometimes give you the upper hand(especially, against players who don’t have condition cleanses).

i roam with my necromancer in wvw most of the time and yes, if you’re engaged by the enemy just try your best to kill it. imo, when you’re solo roaming as a necro, learning when to enter or not to enter a fight is pretty much the only tip i could give you.

If you’re going for glass cannon necro, it’s better to run 30/10/0/0/30 over 30/30/0/0/10. the constant 30% on crit damage and 5% to damage when you have 50% ds bar filled up is far better than the extra damage given by curses minor trait(2% damage per condition) . imo, having more crit damage is better than having more crit chance, provided you have 45% and up crit chance.

I’m not really suggesting for dynamic events to give guaranteed rares. Ofcourse, the daily reward chests should be random ranging from blues to exotics(similar to how random the loots you get when your rank levels up in WvW). The point of this suggestion is to make people revisit low level map areas more and actively look for dynamic events.

So we were treated to getting and obtaining daily rewards chest by finishing certain boss events, i.e. Shatterer, Tequatl, Claw of Jormag. What happened was people were then compelled to actually go to certain map areas to get the rewards.

I was thinking, why not do the same for other dynamic events? This would not only make people feel that they’re rewarded for their efforts in finishing “low level” map events, this would also make people become interested in going back to exploring other map areas and actively look for events. Just a thought.

You aren’t really forced to go full MM when levelling up your necro. When I was levelling up my necro, the only minion I used was flesh golem. I mainly used wells combined with marks (w/ greater marks trait) and it worked well for me.

Try to experiment and see what works for you.

That tank build is fine too. I use it sometimes when doing dungeon runs or solo roaming in WvW. I was able to beat a guardian and an ele in a 2v1 scenario because of that trait set up (pretty impossible to do using a zerker set up). Soloing camps is also easy to do with it.

Power can be viable too. I use 7 different armor sets on my necro, each maximizing either bursting or doing condi damage. I often use a zerker set and have a trait set up of 30(VI-VII-XII)/0/10(II)/0/30(II-VI-XII) using staff – dagger/focus or staff/ – axe/focus or staff – dagger/horn. I use 6 ruby gems on armors, staff has bloodlust sigil and my other weapons have superior sigil of air, frailty, force.

Heal spell is Consume Conditions. My utilities are BiP, signet of locust and signet of spite (i sometimes swap BiP or signet of spite for well of suffering). Elite skill is Lich Form. I would always activate BiP to get 10 stacks might, then use lich form and fire away or if lich form is on cd, I use deathshroud and use autoattack or deathshroud’s aoe skill.

Be forewarned though. This set up is very very squishy but works really really well if you have some people with you(Mesmer with TW is especially awesome with this build).

You can solo camps with this build, however, it can be difficult.

It really depends on the trait set up you are running on your necro. For a zerker build I would often run 30/0/10/0/30. The problem on this set up is even with death shroud you are really really glassy.

You can also run 30/0/10/30/0 on zerker set. The key on this trait set up is to maximize the use of life siphoning on dagger and in using wells to replenish hp.

If you opt in using rabid set and prefer doing conditions, you’d have to always keep on using chills and cripples and just kite.

Life With Minions: A Discussion

I’ve been playing my necromancer for quite a while and I’m having fun playing this class.

Minions are fine in my opinion, however, what throws me off in using a full MM spec in either pve or pvp is their unresponsiveness. I was thinking, why not just make minions attack on the mob/player using the autoattack (skill 1) as the trigger for it. This way, if we change targets and autoattack a different target, the minions will go and attack that specific target immediately instead of lounging around doing nothing.

Another thing I would like to add is to put a sort of UI tracker on the bone minions wherein we get to choose which bone minion to blow up. Like put an icon we could press or make it as a sort of optional profession skill we could use and put them in either F2, F3 or whatever.
