Necro time!

In Siren’s Landing there are two botanists talking about an Oakheart – next to Watchman’s Roost. In one of the dialogues, they mention that the Oakheart’s ancestors predate humanity’s arrival on Tyria.

Konig basically said what there was to be said, just one small thing from me. ArenaNet really missed the opportunity for Charr NPC/PC to comment on never trusting gods and how human haven’t learnt it from Charr mistakes.

Not in the episode itself, but at least in ambient dialogue, these points are adressed. Humans are reluctant to help hunt their god down and doubt what to do. Charr and Asura mock the humans and Balthazar. Sylvari question the god’s nature.

I did get stalled with the way the kitten MMR puts me up mostly with people that don’t have much knowledge on how to play or the bare minimum communication skills, but already half way through it.

I guess it’s better adviced to find teams at this stage that can fight in a more competitive manner. I’ve noticed solo queue goes generally downhill at Ruby.

I started PvP’ing this season and have advanced to Ruby. So far, my statistics look like this:

Unranked W/L % = 57.8%
Ranked W/L % = 49.4%
Overall W/L % = 52.0%

Would this be considered good, bad, average…? This is in solo queue mostly.

I’d say it’s better to not leave story arcs, however small, on the air. That’s not good storytelling.

Just another one of the dropped story arcs.

I was honestly looking forward to them, and I think they were intended to be present in Tangled Depths’ nuhoch stuff.

I figured they would be at Tarir, at least. A shame, they were a fun trio and would’ve given the maps a little more of depth and dialogue with their commentaries.

And that’s what the wiki says, but nothing regarding normal weapons. Hence, why I concluded nothing would be overwritten and actually show the effect.

Stupid, probably. But the information available is open to make mistakes like that happen.

Not really. What you expected was never a thing, and was never even suggested anywhere. The only source of your mistake was your imagination.
You made an assumption not based on anything, and then thought that no info about it being false meant it must be true. This is not how it works.

So, sorry, it was entirely your fault.

As mentioned above, it did exist and it’s what I saw until they fixed it. Secondly, I shouldn’t have to go ask around players nor stalk them and their legendaries. Not denying my fault in this, but there was room for mistakes to happen that no in-game source mentions, or at the very least, the wiki.

Every item effect is only active when you have it active, if you have Frostfang only as 2nd set, then you won’t have its effects, that is how every item works, if you have a torch in your 2nd set, you won’t have the ambient glow when you have the greatsword equipped , why would this be different?
Imagine if you had Frosfang and Twilight in set 1 and 2, both effects would stack?

And that’s what the wiki says, but nothing regarding normal weapons. Hence, why I concluded nothing would be overwritten and actually show the effect.

Stupid, probably. But the information available is open to make mistakes like that happen. Which is why I’m here, since support said they only deal with money transactions and I would actually need help from a designer/dev.

Last night I got Frostfang done (after 3 years) and before equipping it, I made sure to check the wiki and in-game info (pop-up windows, etc) thinking the effect of the legendary would still be visible (footsteps) while using my main weapon (Greatsword).

I was heart-broken to see that’s not the case (but I had seen it on other people at some time – so I obviously thought it was the right idea since you still have it equipped on the second slot). Now I’m stuck with a weapon I barely actually use that cost me a lot of work and gold.

Support can’t do anything, but told me to try the forums.

After Mordremoth’s death and subsequent cutscene, that’s it. No celebration. No update on those left behind (Rox, Logan, Zojja, etc) or anything. I went to each one of Destiny’s Edge homes looking forward to a post-Mordremoth dialogue and… nothing. Eir is still happily busy in her lodge, Logan on his two feet, etc. Not to mention nothing regarding Mr. E, who’s identity “would be revealed at the end of S2”.

We’re left with a big cliffhanger, that will be continued in some months maybe like a few hours passed by, despite having other world events transcurring on normal schedule (Wintersday).

On a related note, just as Orr, now the Maguuma is stuck in its own time bubble. Central Tyria in another, with some time bubbles mixed here and there. It’s starting to become a horrible mess and I can’t even begin to imagine what it’ll be when more updates come.

Can't play, repair doesn't work

If you want to “reinstall” the game, simply download Gw2Setup.exe, but don’t run it. In the folder where GW2 is installed, delete everything except Gw2.dat, then move Gw2Setup.exe into that folder and rename it to Gw2.exe. Unless Gw2.dat is heavily corrupted (you would know), there’s really no reason to completely reinstall the game. The only files GW2 needs to run are Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat. Everything else is recreated if it does not exist.

The log file you posted does not contain any crashes from this year. Did the error report window not popup? I’m guessing not if it froze. Try running Gw2.exe directly, without using a shortcut, since I see you are/were using multiple command line parameters.

Also, run a virus scan, but not with Microsoft’s scanner – it’s too simple. I see you also have Malwarebytes? You may also want to look into the file %temp%/MS-March-14.exe, which is set to run on startup, which is suspicious considering it’s in the temporary directory.

Also, you have minor packet loss between your router and your ISP.

In the mean time, you can try deleting the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and the file Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat. This will cause your hardware related settings to reset.

Open “Computer”, right click and select properties. Under the tools tab, check the disk for any errors. You could also try copying the folder\Guild Wars 2\ to your desktop and try running it from there.

Thank you! I will try all of this and update.

And yeah, there was no report, only crashing right after I click play, black screen comes up and closes. I did try running directly, but no luck.

I will do a virus scan, thought that might be a cause too.

EDIT: I tried your first solution and didn’t work until I deleted the SweetFX files. It’s up and running now, thanks a lot!

That’s… not an inaccurate analogy, and one that I admit I don’t find particularly satisfying myself after all the waits and cliffhangers.

We’re STILL cliffhangered regarding the egg, after having three episodes hanging on that same cliff. Now we’ve had a big fight, but in the end we’ve just got more cliffhangers.

Yo, dawg, I heard you like cliffh- NO! We don’t.

I’m seriously dissapointed about this. They said we would know who is Mr. E by the end of S2, and we got nothing. We were promised answers and we mostly just got more questions that rooted up from the tiny bit of explanations we got.

Cliffhangers does NOT mean leaving things unanswered.

This episode was fun, but ultimately dissapointing, when viewed from a lore/story perspective.

Always hated history myself back in highschool, mainly because they taught us only about our history and forced us to remember dates and what every president did.

However, after highschool I started reading more about other cultures and their history and fell in love with it, and a big factor towards my interest was the Total War games. Far from being a historian (I’ve terrible memory, would die hungry if I became one) but games have made me love it, and in consequence, the lore of game as well.

Sounds familiar, eh?

As I recently rewatched the vision cinematic: those golden pillars of light come from the ground and head up. The beams of light in the ritual is the opposite: coming from the sky and heading down. The color is also different: gold to white (or blue according to Tuomir).

Yes, you’re right, just watched an Arah video where it is showed. White with a blueish hint. I misunderstood the sentence I quoted thinking they come from below and broke the clouds above, my bad.

The dragon from the cutscene looks similar, but different. It has proper wings for example, the Shadow of the Dragon just has branches.

Regarding the last instance, it was great. Had some really interesting points and the vision was very well done. Wish we could’ve gotten the PC to actually speak during the summit, but it was still good.

Wish the leaders adressed the current situation in the world. “Despite the Flame Legion being in civil war, they are still constantly assaulting us” and so on with every race. But they insist on being vague.

The crystals definitely seem to be the Bloodstone. Although I’ll need to watch the cutscene again when someone uploads to get better conclussions. We now know the dragon that attacked the Dream was indeed Mordremoth’s doing and it has been trying to influence the Sylvari since the start.

You seem to not have played the episode completely. Or just don’t care.

Because most of the things you mention are addressed there. If you don’t like the story, then no ones keeping you.

Evidently, I’m writing as I’m playing it. And no one is keeping me from writing what I think as I play it, either.

We used Fort Salma and Cocordia to make our points, but never in any episode I saw the humans, the Queen or anyone besides the B-conics mention it. And it would’ve been a far better plot to have the attack on Fort Salma be used as a determent of the Queen’s leadership and protection of her people by The Ministry, than shoehorning Scarlet -once again- in every matter. Specially when we know she attacked Divinity’s Reach out of a whim in S1.

Oh, Kasmeer’s out of nowhere lying detection super powers, of course.

This whole party thing is a disastrous child’s game. And no mention whatsoever of the whole destruction of an – if not the most- important human fort in Kryta. Instead, a made up meeting out of nowhere with Scarlet and politicians coming clean for no reason with a stranger (being my case a Norn whom has never met them, even if my reputation is there). Horrible and boring start.

This taking way too long with nothing of interest in it other than making me feel like a 5 year-old being handheld across the place clicking on every dialogue that pops with litte to no choice.

Compared to the PS, Countess Anise’s voice acting is bad as well. Are they underpaying them nowadays?

That was a long fight on the second part. I’m sure they’re making as unnecessarily long as possible each part. But fun, challenging boss.

Third part was fun, the Inquest are getting increasingly powerful – more Aspect crystals golems and they’re using Aertherblade teletransportation (not sure they’ve used it before).

Kralkatorrik probably still needs time to recover, so I don’t see him coming soon.

Jormag and Primordus are the most active and dire threats to Tyria (continent) as of now, in that order.

So I’m hoping Jormag is next or perhaps Primordus will make an emergence and we will go for that. But currently, Jormag is the biggest threat.

If you speak to the NPCs (some must be before their respective heart completion) in Fields of Ruin, then you’ll see that the only humans working with charr are soldiers ordered to do such or very few individuals hopeful of furthering the peace, and the only charr working with humans are Sentinels or those ordered to ‘play nice’ as I recall one wording it.

I would hardly consider such a situation to be two “friendly nations”. They aren’t openly hostile anymore, but they’re not friendly either.

Furthermore, in the Black Citadel and other parts, when you delve in the subject and mention (at least as a human) that now we’re allied or something of that sort, the Charr clearly state it’s a cease fire or a temporary truce and nothing else.

He avoided the Crystal Cavern, for some reason. He’s nowhere near it. So that doesn’t seem to be the reason. He’s likely just after that artifact (probably Ascalonian) that the Priory had. I’m guessing their runner won’t go far with it before he gets killed.

After we saw mordrem at Concordia our character asked why the mordrem were there, and there was a plausible reason. After we saw mordrem at Salma our character asked why the mordrem were there, and there was a plausible reason. So why are the mordrem in the Iron Marches and why has our character stopped asking the question?

The Mordrem are following the Leylines and seeking out sources of magic. The Brand is probably a major source of magic for Mordremoth. Seems fairly straightforward.

Corruption is not a source of magic, but correct me if it’s wrong.

Thin air, so far. Devs might have been wrapped around work until now, but I hope we get clarifications/fixes on the issue from tomorrow on, that’s weekend time. And also hope we don’t get a made-up “it’s a mystery you shall soon find out about” and actually admit it was a mistake.
