@Tetra & Aiden
Problem is I can’t/won’t change the trinkets that are PVT. Too much time/money invested on them, so I’ve to build around that.
Hammer does seem cool, I will try that on WvW.
Thanks for the inputs!
@Veritas
I hope you can see that one, also as mentioned before I can’t/won’t change the PVT trinkets.
Thanks!
So hoping I can get assesment here…
This build is meant for WvW/PvE, being able to survive and do some decent DPS. I don’t like going full Berserker, so that’s why my trinkets are all PTV. Any input or thoughts are welcome!
Thanks!
20/0/20/20/10
And yeah, that’s why I posted, but I don’t want to go berserker either and ideally maintain the trinkets PTV as they are.
My bad, corrected.
So for quite some time I’ve been running a GS/Axe-Shield build with full P/V/T gear and trinkets, focused on a lot of endurance regeneration and adrenaline filling. I’ve 4% critical, 3285 Attack, 3205 Armor and 30K HP. I’ve come to notice it might not be so good though. As of now, I’ve invested way too much time and money on the trinkets…so is there any way to improve the build without modifying the trinkets (at least not entirely)? Or is my build good?
I’m focused on PvE, with GS I tend to do 8-12K damage with great survavility. So I’m not sure if I should change it.

Stupid mistake by me. Went there once at launch and assumed now they were Searing Crystals. I’ll have to remember to check this things before posting.
Anyway.
I thought of the possiblity of erosion, but it’s strange both of the crystals we have show no signs of it. If the others eroded away completely without even leaving trails…just seems odd those two don’t even have marks.
I guess its possible they were taking away by the Iron Legion, or rather destroyed, perhaps in a poetic way of saying that they won’t ever need magic again to overcome their foes.
I’ve tried to search both here and Google, but I have not found any answer to my question: what happened to all the searing crystals in Guild Wars 2?
I know there are two and there’s a cavern filled with them, but what about the rest? Just curious because I started playing GW1 and the scenery is filled with them.
My bad about Dylan. My memory is a fragile thing sometimes.
You can visit Dylan’s grave in Ebonhawke’s cementery, but that’s about it. It’s unsure wether Kranxx, is in fact, dead or survived and escaped somehow. Considering we don’t find the Golem’s Eye anywhere it could be also either lost somewhere in Ascalon Ruins, or Kranxx took it with him if he indeed survived.
Thanks, Vahkris! I wanted to get captions of those to for the wiki, but as I said I couldn’t. So far I only know Kiel has a different dialogue regarding Canach when you talk to her while moving the caravan. Not sure if others do.
It seems no one can access it after completing it. As far as I can tell, any other instance you could re-do it regardless of reward, so why not this time? Why was there no notice of this? Kiel had a new dialogue in there and I didn’t have the time to see if others did, but that’s what I wanted to see afterwards, but I can’t now. Or is it bugged? (when speaking to Kiel again, there’s no response as “Goodbye” or anything on the second window)
Anyone know what happened to it? There used to be plenty of articles there before launch and now the blog doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Either that or I can’t access it for some odd reason.
Mainly I wanted to read the race’s atricles and such, and they’re not all in the wiki it seems, nor I’m sure how many entries were there before launch.
Any ideas?
It isn’t mentioned to be either male or female. Marjory is definetely a gal’s name, and this image has been going around: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/uploads/gallery/album_682/gallery_3318_682_222326.jpg
Whom some say might be her. “Jory” does sound more like a nickname than a name in the way Kasmeer mentions it, and Faren seems to know her too.
I have to agree.
Ever since Flame & Frost started I’ve been telling myself “it’s okay, it’ll improve with time, don’t complain” and somehow did with Molten Facility, that was really fun. But the months prior to that were not. Overall it was good and memorable.
I was hoping for an actual improvement from all the mistakes learned in F&F, yet the team managed to deliver a very poor content. Was it faster? Yes. Was it better? No, by far. They basically spoiled the whole thing with the achievements and rewards -that should’ve been given at this update or a bit later, in my opinion- and the overall story seems really dissapointing and uninteresting (so far).
The dungeon was a huge dissapointment as well…I don’t know what they were thinking. Most boring moment in this game so far. Building refuggee signs was far more entertaining, to be honest.
Sadly it seems to me they invest more time trying to get money from the gem store than giving well thought content and story. Only my OCD for achivement points keeps me playing really. Except for Molten Facility the last memorable and fun thing was Wintersday.
Didn’t think I’d get to this point, but I’m losing interest in their game and it gets harder to support them with the hardcore RGN.
I share your hopes.

Thread Lutinz mentions: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/southsun/Canach-s-Mutation-Radical-Change in case anyone interested.
I think there’s no doubt. However, there is doubt on how is he modifying it? Does he have an asura partner? Does he have extensive knowledge of golemancy? How? Why? Can he use his “plants” on it and control it somehow?
Likely not yet, since it was mentioned in a recent interview at MMO Reporter that -it’s more speculation than anything, but seems pretty clear- that in the next story arc on june, we will see Lady Kasmeer amongst other Divinity’s Reach nobels. So it’s most likely taking place at Divinity’s Reach area. Furthermore, their concept is to evolve the already existing world, so that means whole new areas are highly unlikely for now.
Just finished listening to this: http://www.facebook.com/GuildWars2?fref=ts episode of MMO Reporter with Scott McGough and there were some interesting points regarding lore:
1. Lady Kasmeer and Lord Faren will be involved in the next story arc, on june, amongst other Divinity’s Reach nobles. Perhaps we will start seeing some White Mantle action?
2. Lady Kasmeer will be on future arcs, is a main character, along with a “business partner”. I’m not sure if to interpret this as she is NOT going to be the personal nemesis, or if she will, but not for now. Perhaps she’s tied to the White Mantle somehow.
3. Southsun Cove showed up on the recent past, according to Scott.
4. Regarding Canach: he is not evil, he feels the world owes him something and has his own agenda. Furthermore, it is stated he found something valuable on the expedition that originally went to Southsun Cove and he returned because an event motivated him to. Flame & Frost probably, since he has the Molten Gloves, must be tied to this.
5. Lionguard governs Southsun Cove, Consortium owns it. Lion’s Arch and The Consortium struck a deal for it when the latter approached them.
6. So far we’ve only seen Karka on Southsun Cove.
7. Plans to revisit Chauncey Von Snauffles (sp?) entire story, why he came second and who came first. Why Lord Faren was forced to run out of Divinity’s Reach after the riot.
8. And at last, we won’t see Southsun Cove again this year and there are currently no plans for next year either.
Yes, I’ve seen it and learned of Kormir before, and prepared for the inevitable hate I’ll feel for her. At least Trahearne is a talking plant, that makes it kind of funny, but her…
I hope there’s some statues of Kormir around GW2 so I can proceed to buy Candy Corn and puke all over it.
Thank you everyone, all your inputs are very helpful and I’ll put them to use!
With servers now being automated, I know I’ll have time before anything happens to them. Hopefully I’ll be able to get all the games.
It’s the original expedition team that went there with Owain. They all were killed by the Karka as she witnessed the deed. Do the DE there and you’ll learn more after talking to her.
Thank you both for your answers, that’ll prove to be very helpful! Any idea of how long would it take to finish it all by playing 5 hours or so per day? Considering I’m just gonna focus on learning lore and not grind gear or anything that isn’t necessary for the purpose. Also, are dungeons soloable? Is there any content (lorewise important and of course no PvP) where you actually need to party up with other players?
That’s not Kralkatorrik. The Blazeridge Steppes loading screen shows The Shatterer surrounded by, I presume, Branded Lieutenants (the veterans that show up during The Shatterer’s event).
I didn’t realize that. But either way, he’s said to be the size of a mountain. Even allotting for hyperbole, he’s going to be massive. And I’ve fought Glilnt; she was large, but she was far from being the size of the Shatterer. She was also far from powerful. A party of eight could take her down. A party of eight might be able to take down the Shatterer, but it would take forever. It is stands to reason The Shatterer is nothing compared to its creator.
He did use his power, but they were able to avoid his corruptive breath
Looking at the scale of the Brand, I don’t know how anyone could plausibly dodge his corruption. You can’t just climb into a refrigerator to shield yourself from a nuclear blast. And while Kralk’s breath isn’t a nuclear blast, it’s going to take one hell of a dodge roll to get out of its area of effect. Unless Kralk didn’t actually try to use his breath to corrupt them, I don’t see how they could have avoided it. And if he didn’t use his breath, why not?
I understand a suspension of disbelief is required to enjoy any fantasy writing, but I just can’t see DE (with Glint’s help or without) realistically surviving an fight with any Elder Dragon if it actually wants them dead without heavy use of plot armor and Saturday morning cartoon buffoonery on the part of the ED.
If I recall correctly, Kralkatorrik only had an entrance to Glint’s sanctuary on its way, where Eir and Garm were. The breath was reaching for them, but both took cover inside. So I’m guessing the sanctuary had some kind of protective magic measures against corruption. Just as the weapon Trahearne used cleansed Orr’s heart, there’s magic that can protect places and people from dragon’s corruption (Sanguinary Blade’s scabbard, for example).
On another subject and that derails a little from the post; there’s the Sanguinary Blade and the spear which is used against Kralkatorrik. Both weapons made from the dragon’s themselves. I wonder which of the races were able to forge this and if there are more. Dwarves were in posession of the Sanguinary Blade, but I wonder, was it them that made it? How did they do it? The smallest touch of it would corrupt anyone. They must’ve had strong anti-dragon magic. Can’t wait to meet them in GW2, and learn more about what they know.
I’m very interested on learning the lore of the game, and though I’ve read and gotten a lot of information from several sources, nothing is like playing the game itself. So my question is, if i were to play from Prophecies to Eye of the North, how long would it take me? Considering I could play perhaps 5 hours per day. Also, is there any known information is servers will be shutdown some day? And considering I’d pretty much be playing solo, would it be hard in some aspects of the game to do so (dungeons maybe)?
So much lore, so many interesting things, and mostly all within GW1. Every day I feel like buying the games and playing them all. GW2 lore doesn’t quite attract me as much as GW1’s. At least this forum and their posters always give me something new to learn about. Thanks you for that!
@Konig Yeah, it was more of a personal theory and what I generally feel he/she/it is doing. Hopefully one day we will learn more.
I don’t think anyone would be interested in Orr territory as of now; the contaminated water, terrain, and lack of resources or wildlife make it a difficult place to live at and from it. If we take Ascalon as example, it will take houndreads of years before it is restored to anything like that, if it ever does.
Just a thought of mine, if I see Tentacles I think, not only about Japan, but also about Bubbles(somehow I have the feeling we heard something about the DSD minions having tentacles) The Karkas didn’t have tentacles before, but now all the animals got super angry and get tentacles.
this seems like DSD corruption; IDK about the plants, though. I thought Modremoth corruption first, but that seems far fetched. Maybe the plants get corrupted first: the corruption comes from underneath the island, the island is new
SO
couldn’t the stirrings of the DSD or one of his champions bring the island up with him still underneath corrupting everything on it
probaply not.
it could be, some consortium Asura works with the inquest, looking for more DSD corruption to put in zone blue, he finds creatures running away from the DSD, he finds a plant who has DSD corruption, he experiments with it, he makes Southsun in to a resort/refugee camp to see what the corruption does on higher races, hence the Grawl not allowed on southsun, they didn’t fit in the experiment. Folks get corrupted, start fighting with eachother, wildlife get’s corrupted aswell and grow tentacles,….
just some thoughts
Conclussion: it’s DSD corruption
Nowhere have I seen Karkas, Reeef Drakes, Skelks or anything in Southsun Cove “pull tentacles” nor grow them. They’re pretty much the same as they were before except for the increased hostility. The only sign of these new tentacles are in the hive, which is close enough to Canach’s hiding lair if you have the chance to go inside.
So probably the source are those contaminated plants and their toxins. We don’t know anything about them yet other than its from Canach’s doing somehow (since there’s a golem involved later, I’m guessing he’s collaborating with an asura). And the Grawl decided to step out because Consortium’s smiles didn’t meet their eyes, according to the chief, not because they weren’t “fit” for Southsun Cove.
I highly doubt there’s DSD involvement here (at least directly), besides the fact the Karka escaped from it. If the dragon was anywhere close, we probably could see signs of that (minions, increased currents movement, local wildlife; specially Karka, making a run for it).
One extra data that I haven’t seen being mentioned is that the same type of tentacles from the backpiece can be found around the hive. Wether this is recent or from november, I cannot tell. There seems to be no aesthetic connection between the Karka and the new weapons, so perhaps there’s still something else behind this all. Maybe the toxins used by Canach mutated the Karka queen. I do hope there’s more depth to this Living Story, so far we haven’t seen anything too interesting, in my opinion (from january until now).

Can also get in with a Warrior. Go to the highest geyser formation outside and get down a bit towards the vents, you’ll get stuck. Then I used Whirlwind Attack and after some attempts made it inside! Nothing really interesting there yet though.
My personal list:
1. Setta Bladestrong and the mesmer Blackheart. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Setta_Bladestrong
Always been curious about who she might be, what happened to her and who this Blackheart mesmer is. Sounds like an interesting enemy.
2. As others have mentioned, Livia and the Scepter of Orr. What happened to her and it? Where is the scepter now?
3. Garrenhoff. Who’s this so called magician, that apparentely uses human souls in order to seal them inside elementals? With what purpose?
4. Where are the two other Bloodstones? What is happening/happened to the known three?
5. Humanity and it’s origins as well. If they ever open up south of Cantha, I guess we will get some answers to that.
6. The Colossus and Tyrian general life back in the origins of the world.
@BunnytheSwordsman Rotten food is still food, I guess! Or magical preservatives.
As the title says; the Guild Wars universe has several unsolved mysteries and pieces of lore that we don’t quite know about. Everyone must have a special list of them that they’d like to know about, so what’re yours? And do you have any theories about them?
I’ve my own little list I will write down later, since I’m busy right now, but I’d like to read what you guys have on mind. Hopefully we can build a nice discussion here and learn more about the incredible lore behind this game with everyone’s input!
Reporting few erros I’ve found:
The terrain between the pools and the new outpost looks like a straight line, which is completely awfull sight wise.
And on New Management JP, there’s repeated NPC’s (the tiny golem and Inspector).
You should also get Ghosts of Ascalon, it is very entertaining and gives depth to the Human-Charr treaty as well as Ascalonian history in general. There’s a third book coming (Sea of Sorrows on June 23rd, if I recall correctly), centered on Cobiah Marriner. I doubt we will see another one with Destiny’s Edge on it, since the books were meant to explain what happened in the 250 years between GW1 and GW2, and now they can continue their story in-game.
I see, thanks for clarifying that for me. Went to take a walk around there for the first time since the invasion and noticed all that. Also noticed some recent graves behind Owain’s Refuge, from the crew of S.S. Prospect, been intrigued by that, but no answers anywhere I could find. The ship there looks pretty new, I guess they where from there. Probably died during the rise of Southsun Cove since it looks like it was cleaved from below. I’m guessing it is a fairly new island. I do hope there’s more answers in the next days.
So, I’ve been trying to find maps or any indication that this place was present during GW1 days, but seems not. The books don’t have anything on it (perhaps the third will, but can’t know yet). And I wasn’t present during the start of the event back in november nor got to talk to NPC’s and such.
So my question is, where did it come from? Was there some explanation to this from an interview or something?
By all the wreckings around I guess it could have been raised from the depths as was Orr, when Zhaitan awoke, but doesn’t make too much sense.
I believe The Consortium is certainly after more than just monetary gain. I think their true purpose is attain power -overwhelming power- for whatever purpose they might have. They’re certainly after something else than recreational business at Southsun Cove -and my doubts were confirmed just about now: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/may-14-2013/- and I believe they’re behind the Molten Alliance as well.
My suspicion is that they’re -or already have- establishing important connections within the “evil” organizations and races in order to fulfill their agenda by using them as tools. Whoever are behind the The Consortium, have big plans on their minds, in my opinion, and money is not really that important for them.
(edited by Eluveitie.1290)
Devs have stated Elder Dragons are not related anyhow in this arc. It’s more likely Consortium shadowy business.
Also, Beetle, the golem states they worshipped Titans before, and Destroyers later, not now. Therefore, referring to GW1.
Can you still visit and participate in the invasion of Normandy? No? Oh, thought so. Because it ended years ago and you probably weren’t born in the time to go there.
That’s the idea. There’s a lot of lore to this game, so time continuity is important. Plus, there’s the exclusivity factor. If you give someone who just joined the game the chance to have something that the player who has played since Beta has, then there’s no special rewards that people can go and say “yes, I was there when it came out”.
Ah, never thought of that (not very familiar with WvW aspect). Thanks!
Makes sense. Would be interesting to know what they mean exactly. But probably is just their tribe’s symbol or something of the like.
At the end of the jumping puzzle you can find three symbols on the walls, I tried to get info on what they might be, but no luck.
Anyone got an idea?
Always noticed my HP in heatlh pool is different as stated on stats window. Anyone know why is this?
Any ETA or info on this, please?
I hope this finally gets fixed, it’s blocking the progress of a project I’m working on.
Yeah, I agree. It seems waiting is always the best option.
Still, a dev’s answer would be great.
Did my best to search the forums for answers, but it’s complicated with so many pages even when using the search option. Anyhow, I’ve a couple of questions about these new ascended gear:
1. Currently, you can’t infuse them, but somewhere on these forums I read a dev saying they would be infusable sometime (referring to amulets). If that’s so, using an infusion (slot one) would be wasting time and resources if we get the option to infuse (upgrade) it later since the slot infusion gets deleted, if we take on account that’s how rings work.
Are we ever going to be able to infuse them (amulets and earrings) somehow? And also, without losing the slot we’re using now?
2. Currently, you can’t use two rings of the same name (unless one is infused and the other not), does this apply to earrings as well?
P.S. It’d be very usefull to include information regarding this so players don’t waste time, resources and effort finding out by themeselves by trial and error. It can get very frustrating.
Thank you!
He must be:
I bet once that Elonian expansion comes, we will have spears as a new weapon type, which probably will be mainly used by the new profession. I agree it will be some kind of soldier, probably more inclined to being a Dervish/Warrior fusion perhaps, that use elements for their attacks.
This. Knut would eat Trahearne for lunch, if he ate salad, but he’s too Norn for that. And he surely isn’t as obnoxious.
Unlikely. We saw way back in EotN that Norn will hunt together and share the glory of a hunt. And now Wolf is one of the major Spirits, who means hunting as a pack is even more important in Norn society. The concept of working together to take down large prey is fundamental to a lupine philosophy, after all.
As far as a Norn version of Trahearne, it would probably be Knut Whitebear, the Norn racial “leader”. He’s the descendant of Asgeir, after all, the one who cut out Jormag’s fang. Aside from that, we might have some new character appear as the one to finally shatter the Fang and, from that, go on to be Jormag’s slayer.
And this. Probably some small groups tried to take Jormag down, and when the rest saw it was futile when their fellows got massacred, they gathered more and more.
What I find interesting is that he says “thousands” of Norn. Could be an exaggeration, after all, skaalds are not known for their veracy. But if it is true, Norn must’ve been a pretty big civilazation and possibly could be more of them further north, beyond Jormag.
Regarding the Fang, I do hope we get to do that part somehow, since the beggining we are taken on a quest to get materials for making some weapon to destroy it and would be dissapointing to just give that to someone else and not even being credited for it.
